Our home resort is SSR, but we are going to be taking family with us next summer and I'm thinking we may get a little more room in a 2 BR at OKW - we will have 8 people, including 4 teenage girls - wondering if OKW is a good choice or should we consider a different resort? We have never been to OKW so any thoughts or reviews would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I don't like to be crowded and 8 people in a 2-bedroom would crowd me.

However everyone is different.

OKW was designed for a large group. So their 2-bedrooms are much bigger than the ones.

I think you can put the other 2-bedrooms in just OKW living area, laundry mat and entry hall.

Telling if a 2 bedroom is large enough at OKW for you is a bit dependant on the sleeping arangements you need. OKW has a very large open area for the living room, dining, kitchen. With a sofa and love seat plus an occational chair and ottoman plus a table and 4 chairs with another table and 4 chairs on the balcony. We have had as many as 7 in a 2 bedroom at OKW, but with the sleeping arangements, we needed to still have someone on the loveseat (air mat if you choose). There will be 2 queen sized beds in the second bedroom and a queen sized pull out in the living room. We had 3 young adults when we had 7, and they didn't want to sleep together, so one took the second bed in the bedroom, and the other was a small young lady who slept on the love seat while her brother slept on the pull out.

Here is the floor plan.

IMHO, if you're putting 8 in a 2BR, then OKW is the place to be. Hands down.

Just an FYI from the picture... The triangular area in the second bedroom where the door to the outside would be in a studio, will have a very large walk in closet if it is a dedicated 2 bedroom unit. Also, the laundry room is big enough for a twin sized air bed, making a nice private room. In the buildings over number 30, there will also be a second door in the laundry room to access the toilet/shower area of the master bath.

Take an inflatable Aero bed if you can to give you another sleeping spot. I think you'll love the spacious OKW villas and, yes, it might get a little crazy and crowded with 8 teens/adults in a 2 BR but my guess is that it would not be all that unbearable.

I just noticed the teens were all girls. I guess I would think about putting them all in the second bedroom and having one couple sleep in the living room. It might be best for everyone!

It is 1410 square feet but with 8 people someone is going to have to sleep in the living room. You are at the max capacity with 8. It is way too many in my opinion.

We have stayed in an 2 bedroom with 8. You have a lot of room, if no one minds sleeping on the sofa bed (which my oldest DD says is very comfortable). The table in the dining room has 4 chairs, but we usually bring in the 2 chairs from the studio part and find it seats 6 plus our DD in her wheelchair fairly comfortably. With the sofa bed open, there is still room to walk around the room comfortably and get out to the porch. One of the best features is the porch. There is a large table with 4 chairs. We have coffee out there while our DDs stay asleep on the couch.
We have stayed in a 2 bedroom at VWL with 7 people and felt it was pretty tight. SSR is pretty mcuh the same size, so I would not want to stay there with 8.

It is most definitely harder to figure out sleeping arrangements with a mixed group. As far as OKW in general goes, it is DVC's best value in terms of size of accomodations and point usage, IMHO.

I am assuming there are 4 adults(parents) and 4 teenage girls???

If so, You can do one set of parents in the MBR, and two teenage girls on the pullout and the other set of parents and the other 2 teenage girls in the 2nd BR OR you can do all 4 teenage girls in the 2nd BR, one set of parents in the MBR & one set of parents on the pullout.

You'll have 2 full baths, a laundry room with fullsize washer/dryer, a full kitchen with full size appliances, a table that will seat 4, an outdoor balcony with another table that will seat 4.

If all these folks know each other fairly well, it shouldn't be too bad, as long as none of the people are really "high maintenance" and would take hours in the bathroom getting ready.

There is also room in the OKW 2BR to bring an aerobed.

OKW is the place to be for space. Of course a Grand Villa would be wonderfull also and would probably cost you the same at OKW as a 2 bedroom elsewhere. The sleeping capacity of the 2 BR is 8, so you are good there.
