Telemarketer calls?

Hello everyone!

I was very skeptical of buying into a timeshare, but my experience with DVC has been wonderful!

I was mainly afraid to buy in at first because of all of the horror stories you hear about timeshares. Of course buying the DVC you are buying into Magic and I know we made the right choice back in '98.

We get a minimum of 2-3 contacts (phone, mail etc) per week by someone wanting to know if we want to sell out timeshare.

Do any of you get these calls?

Do they target DVC members or do they go after any T/S owner?

Just interested....

We've never gotten any phone calls, but we have a no call list here in Missouri that cuts down drastically on unsolicted telemarketing calls. We do, however, get postcards in the mail on a regular basis wanting us to sell our DVC. I just file them in the trash can.

I have never gotten a call or postcard...guess they know I wouldn't be interested in selling

We get all kinds of telemarketing calls, mostly about refinancing, home equity loans, insurance, new windows and siding, and magazines. Timeshares is one of the few topics we haven't gotten!

Nothing can compare with DVC, IMHO, so they'd be wasting their time!

Try this. It's a hoot. I did it one time and the guy was totally into telling me the answers. Only until I got to "what type of toothpaste do you use" did he get suspicious!!

Personally, I haven't gotten any calls regarding selling my DVC. But our info is public record through the county clerk in Florida, since our deeds are recorded. Solicitors only have to go to the courthouse to find out who owns DVC then start calling.

Have never been bothered by an solicitation to sell DVC and we have been members since 1994.

Try this. We have an answering machine and left this recorded message on it and it worked. the calls dropped dramatically. Here is the message

"Do to unwanted telemarking calls, we are not answering our phone. If you leave your name and phone number we may call you back."

We are lucky if we get one telemarketing call every six months.

Everyone who heard it got a kick out of it and did the same with the same results.

We keep getting mail from ERA reality about selling our DUNDEE VILLAS TIMESHARE, (that we don't own and have no idea where this place is). I guess they don't read the mail they get back because we keep getting mail from them.

I even tried to sell this timeshare( which we don't own) to them cheap but got no reply. I guess they just don't know a good deal when they get one.

No calls here, but we have the do not call law here. We do get postcards from a Century 21 broker in Texas asking us if we want to sell our timeshare though.

We get call all the time, maybe 3-5 a week or more. They normally get the contacts from BBS, owners listing, deed recordings and the like.

We don't get calls asking us to sell, but we don get calls 2-3 times a month offering us more Timeshares , usually at Branson. I guess they figure once a customer, you'll buy again somewhere else. We don't of course. (also, we HATE the Branson area).

My parents went on the DVC tour with us in March 2002. My Dad says he occasionally gets postcards with info, like "Beach Club is selling out" or "More inventory at Boardwalk." Nothing threatening or really annoying, just announcements. This is comical because HE bought DVC! He put it in my name and dh's because he "doesn't want the nursing home to get it someday!" So here the poor man spent $25,000 and no one at Disney realizes... they are still trying to "sell" him!

We bought DVC two years ago and have since done 3 add ons. We get those post cards too. But I look at those as "do you want to do an add on" post cards. Many would not know that BWV had extra inventory available for add ons if the post card didn't come out. Or maybe someone was considering a BCV add on, but better decide soon or it will be sold out.
I'm fairly certain that those post cards DO go to ppl who they know bought into DVC.

"ALWAYS TRAVEL". They don't leave a message though and I don't answer when they call. They have been calling me several times a week for the past week or two.
