By fit I mean REALLY fit.

We are going on our first 7 day cruise on the Magic. My DD15 is a pretty intense athlete and is concerned about maintaining her fitness during the trip. We know she isn't allowed in the gym but have seen mentions of classes like yoga and spin. Are any of these open to teens. She will work out on CC and possibly in our stateroom. We are doing the Eastern and perhaps she could swim open water laps in Tortola and St. Thomas? But I don't know that she'll be able to run on Deck 4. The kind of runs she needs to do are loooong hard fast runs (like 3-5 miles) and I doubt that would work well on board?!

I haven't been on the ship yet, but what about an early run around the top deck before the majority of the rest of guests wake up? For other exercises there is Pilates and other exercises that could be done in the stateroom..

Why can't she run 3-5 miles on deck 4? She may have to slow down a bit for the turns but the straight always are at least 50 yards that she can sprint. I've seen people run for an hour or more.

There are also many other options on board. She can do inverted push ups with her feet on the life jacket boxes on deck 4, she can also use those to do vertical jumps. I'm sure her coach can help her come up with a great body weight program for a week. My trainer developed one for me with no problem.

I ran 3 miles on the deck...it's not ideal since it's just a bunch of laps, but it works. :)

My son used a jump rope and those long flat rubberbands to keep fit onboard. Also, the teen club usually goes to the exercise room after it closes to the public - usually once or twice during the cruise.

Running on deck 4.
You don't want to run on the stairs but she could go up and down it all she wants.
Run Swim and bicycle at castaway cay
I'm sure there's places to run at the other ports.

When I was running on Deck 4 in October on the Magic, there was a guy out there running a lap, then doing burpees, jumping jackets and other HITT exercises between each lap. There's space to incorporate those types of exercises early in the morning on Deck 4.

Both of my kids run/ran cross country, and they would run on deck 4. You do have to dodge people a little (fewer if running early), but it is definitely doable. She might also want to run the Castaway Cay 5K. My son was a pretty competitive runner in high school, and we would always work it out so that our vacation was his "off" week. He still ran/worked out, but it was generally a little less than when we were home.

I never had a problem running 4-5 miles on deck 4. The earlier you go the fewer the people. Just a lot of laps. But the view is great!

Run deck 4- 3 to 5 miles. Earlier the better. My kids are in x/c and track. Then the 5K on Castaway. They get it in. Cruise always is during the season/spring vacation week. It all works out

Thank you SO much everyone! I didn't know if it were acceptable to do some of those things like burpees, etc in the public areas of the ship. That is great news! We've only been on one short cruise so far and so she just worked out on CC and left it at that. She'll definitely do the teen club gym visit too. She should be fine with all those options available - great news!

I remember previous threads on this - and they mentioned that the teen club sometimes gets to go to the fitness center. I just checked the navigators on the Disney Cruise Line Blog for the Fantasy Eastern from February and there it is, on day 3 for example: Pump it Up at 9pm: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/wp-...-Fantasy-7N-Eastern-Day-3-At-Sea-20160215.pdf It is also mentioned as one of the highlights of the day under Vibe.
Thank you for taking the time to look that up :)

Just want to add that I've trained for a marathon and half marathon running up to 10 miles on Deck 4. Super boring but definitely do-able! I would echo running early to avoid the most dangerous obstacle-shuffleboard kids without supervision:sad1:.

She could also do HIIT exercises, jump rope, body weight exercise and even use a couple of bottled waters for light weights. Perhaps not ideal but enough to not loose too much of her fitness...which might be a reasonable goal versus improving performance, if that makes sense.
