When we sail in May my oldest DD's will be 14 and 12 - since I expect them to be off alot in their separate activities - what do most kids this age do with their KTTW cards? I was going to buy lanyards with little pouches on them for them to wear, but if this is not "cool" at this age I don't want to waste my money. I'm not sure that they will have pockets for the most part and I know they won't do the fanny pack thing.

Any suggestions? What have your kids done at this age?

Thanks,

I may not be the one to help you, being as I'm not your normal lemming teenager, but when I go on the cruise I usually wear a waterproof case with my KTTW. The lanyards with the plastic break easily.

I suspect most teens keep their cards in his or her pocket being as I don't see them wearing the cases or lanyards. When all else fails, try using a fanny pack, or let them hide it in their shoe. I personally do enjoy the waterproof case, but as I said...most teenagers I run into on the cruise (with the exception of my cousin and Emma) think that I'm crazy:crazy:

For my teen ( oh that is so hard to say).. I have some lanyards with the plastic but they have disney characters on them. ( purchased on ebay). She used that last Dec at WDW, so I'm guessing it will still be "cool" still.

The 12 year old will be in the lab, and she has to wear her name tag when participating in programs. The name tag is actually a pouch with a space for the KTTW card.

I have no good answer for the teen set...if you get one (beyond pockets), I'll be interested.

I baught on of those plasic "card holders" that looks like a big necklace. I unhooked the plastic card holder and purchased a double ended key chain, ones with a quick release. They hooked one end on the plasic card holder and the other on the belt loop. You can punch a hole in the KTTW card once on the ship. But, if you are doing a "land package" the card will not work at the park entrances.

I like that ideal. Did they still work for charging on the ship with the hole punch?? and where did you get the card punched at??

Yes, they worked for charging on the ship with the hole in it. Guest services let me use theit "hole punch". The girl did look at me a little funny. If you don't want to "punch it" any local NASCAR shop has pit pass holders for the older teens who don't want Mickey Mouse around their necks........If you punch it make sure you punch the opposite side of the arrow for opening the door.

I bought my dds (13 and 17) lanyards at home (that pink bunny who says not nice things for the 13-yo and Care Bears for the 17-yo). They thought they were really cool. The problem was that they did not come with a plastic case. I thought about a hole punch, but didn't think about going to guest services -- I bought a DCL one on the ship, and my dd-13 took the pouch off that and put it on the bunny lanyard, and wore it all the time. My dd-17 had to wear a lanyard with her room key in it all summer at Governor's School, so I assumed she would wear a lanyard on the cruise. No. She kept the card in her pocket, or tucked just inside her bathing suit at her hip bone the whole trip. Never lost it!

When we sailed in August our two boys were 9 and 13. The 9 year old wore his on a lanyard because we almost lost his once. The 13 year old kept his in his wallet for the entire time. He didn't want the lanyard because he didn't think it looked cool. You should probably ask your kids, I think it is an individual thing, but most of the older kids did not wear them on lanyards.

Son kept his in wallet, daughter in pocket.
