My DS really likes Nike socks. They seem to last a long time. It's a bummer you can't use coupons on Nike at Kohls or JCP anymore... You may find them on sale though, and I have been able to use coupons on Nike at DSW.
Even though doctors recommend that toenails be cut straight across rather than rounded to the toe, I say that they should not be left with sharp corners. Toenails should not catch on the fabric as the sock is put on.
Do his shoes fit relatively well or is he wearing them loosely tied so they rub, causing the holes? If he is the "cause" of the holes and it's something he can correct but won't, have his buy his own socks for a while. I found once my son personally realized the cost of things, his behavior was more likely to change.
I buy Hanes. They still get holes but hold up better than store brand. Now, if could get my boys to just throw them out when they have holes instead of wearing them.....lol.
I've been buying black Nike socks for years for my son. He has never gotten holes. He also slips into his sneakers since they are high tops with loose laces. I buy them at the Nike outlet. 6pk for around 10-12 dollars. I've also seen them at Famous footwear.
There are a couple reason you get holes in your socks, Usually its the way you walk or just poorly constructed socks. Pay attention if the tear is in the same place in most of his socks its probably the way he walks he may put his on 1 side of his feet as walks, it can also be not cutting his toe nails in time, it can also be cracked feet some lotion can go along way, if the holes are in the bottom of his feet you need some padded or cushioned socks, if the holes are in front where the toes are check his nails and get some reinforced socks. How a person walks or runs does play a big role in how long the socks last., If you pay attention the soles of his shoes may wear how in the same places his socks are wearing out. www.sockbroker.com
Hanes is best as far as reg stores (fruit of ge loom tear very quickly) but Nike best for sports & generally age bedt but are $. I get Nike at Marshalls or TJ Maxx but macys & sporting stores have them
Too and can be similar pricing with coupons & such
umm! it's a no win in my house! I just buy 3 packs of socks instead of 1.. my logic he's got more to grab from might spread the wear and tear from 6 pairs to 18... some are bound to survive!
My son had the same issue. I asked other moms of boys and they recommended Nike socks. They are thicker and I haven't had a hole yet in the 8 months we have had them. They are a little pricey, but they are still white and have worn well. I bought my at Kohls.
I have three teenage boys and I buy Nike socks and they last quite a while. We have a Nike outlet nearby and that is where I get them, but they also sell them for a reasonable price at Kohls.
Do you bleach them? My kids' white socks last longer when I don't, but I hate soaking them for 24 hrs in regular detergent to get them white so I usually just bleach and rebuy!
A really weird possibility that happened to us: The grout on our tile floor rubbed holes in our socks! I figured it out because I was the one in the kitchen on the tile the most often and my socks got holey the fastest!
Now I buy him black Nike socks. He likes the mid calf ones. I haven't really had a problem with these. I buy them at Foot Locker when they are buy one get one 50% off.
