Tomorrow is my TEE. They need to check out my prosthetic valve and aortic graft since I had the TIA last month. Thought for awhile I'd get out of it but the docs caught up with me.

Tuesday is DD14 Melinda's EGD. She's been having ABD pain for months now which has not seemed to let up. Weird also in that it doesn't seem to be brought on by any one particular thing. So she'll be scoped to check her ABD.

A neighbor's DD was having severe ABD pain to the point that she was in the hospital for four days while they decided whether to take out her gall bladder. She had an EGD and it turns out that she has Celiac Sprue disease which is a sensitivity to anything with gluten. If anyone has had experience with that and helping a nine yo deal with it, I'm sure her mom would love to hear. She and her daughters will all be tested for it as it is also hereditary. Please keep them in your prayers.

Take care-
Lois

I had a lot of stomach problems in late high school and throughout college....nothing could be pinpointed. I swallowed the barium, had X-rays, had the EGD, treated for ulcers, etc etc. They changed my diet to bland (yuck) made me take all types of medications and on and on. After college I had intermittant problems--maybe 5-6 times a month I'd have some sort of stomach problem (reflux? ulcers? still no one could figure it out)

In Spring of 2001 I had AWFUL stomach pains. Ended up in the ER! Finally after an abdominal ultrasound they found HUGE gallstones. I had my gallbladder out about a week later and the stones were so big they had to crush them with some special instrument because they literally would NOT fit through the incision they had made (they did it laprascopically) Other than the food poisoning I've had recently and a gastro illness, I have not had ONE SINGLE LICK of stomach problems since then!!

In my mind, I think I developed gallstones some time in high school and they would intermittantly cause me problems. They didn't think to check that because I didn't fit the gallbladder "profile." (I was too young and way too skinny back then!) I do have a family history of gallstones (my grandfather).

Anyway...something to keep in mind if your DD's EGD doesn't show anything.

Saying a prayer that your TEE and your dd's EGD go well.
God bless

When I was having gall bladder attacks, the pain was not necessarily located in the area of my gall bladder all of the time. So just something else to keep in mind ... it took 2 trips to the kER before they figured it out.

Sending good thoughts your way for this week princess:
