Sorry to ask yet another techie question but I'm getting into panic mode and I know there are some computer whizzkids out there who may be kind enough to help me!!
Incredibly stupidly I started to download a free music share programme a few days ago (kazaa). I quickly changed my mind but some nasty spyware is on my computer now and I don't know how to get rid of it. I've run an Norton Internet Security scan which tells me there are some TCP ports open to attack and that there are 12 "threats" which it tried but failed to delete. What it doesn't tell me is what I can do about them. The support page is a joke - an endless loop of FAQs which don't help at all.
If anyone can help me I'd be eternally grateful as I had a new hard drive recently and I'm really afraid I've left it wide open to attack.

Don't panic!

You need to load some anti-spyware software. Microsoft do their own free spy-ware software now after buying a company called Giant:

Microsoft Spyware

Ad-Aware

Install one or both of these and do a scan of your system and it should remove the nasty items.

PS - DON'T use Kazaa! Try WinMx instead - spyware free :)

You have no idea how grateful I am to you Goofyish!!!!!!!!! I installed the Microsoft Spyware thingy (technospeke!!), ran a scan and it got rid of all the nasties!!! I just feel so much better now!! It's like a child playing with fire I'm afraid - you just don't appreciate the dangers until you get burnt!! So from now on I will be extremely vigilant ! Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much!!! :worship: :worship: :worship:

I agree with Tim, if you are going you download a music sharing site use winmx, never had any problems with them.
