Team Renfroe - Pre-Trip Report for May 15-22, 2009 **Final Chapter**

Thanks, Rosie. I think we are getting closer to a decision about the POP. It would be less money, longer time, and 3 extra meals on the Deluxe Dining Plan! We will make a decision this week one way or another. Our 180-day window for making ADRs starts one week from today!

Alan

Alan the window for us to make ressies isn't until late December ,due to the changeover in the system! I still don't know the exact date but now they are only taking 90 day out ressies till they get the system updated which is supposed to be December !!I also think this may be why the calendar is late too but that's just my oppinion!!

I really like these tentative plans, it must be a joy planning TS meals on the deluxe dining plan! :thumbsup2 Will you do both waterparks this year or are you still deciding which one? I remember I loved reading your day at Typhoon Lagoon day with "Rusty" (I think that's which waterpark you went to...is that the one with Crush 'n Gusher? maybe you went to both and I forgot :laughing: )

By the way I've heard great things about The Wave :)

I was told December 22nd by the CM I talked to yesterday will be the date that we can make ADR's. However, you CAN make Chef Micky's, Victoria and Alberts and CRT reservations at your normal 180 day mark.

Holy crap, I am learning all kinds of stuff on these boards!!!

ooh Alan your Pop itinerary sounds awesome, if you try Pop that'll be something new, then you can decide between the 2 for your next trip, which of course there will be one!!
The restaurants sound amazing, I'm so happy to see your mother daughter/father son dinners again!! :thumbsup2

Good Morning Alan! Hey Woodley yes you do learn a whole lot on these boards! I was soooo green my first trip but I found the Dis and went as a PRO!! The great thing is everyone shares their info and experiences which is such a huge help when planning your trip!!

Wow, that's interesting. :confused3 At least that gives us a little more time to firm up our itinerary. You are probably right about the calendar being so late.

Hi FF! :wave2: Yes, we are really enjoying planning for the Deluxe Dining Plan again. I keep thinking, "that is way too much food!" but the truth is that if we compare it to paying for meals out of pocket, and not ordering as much, and eating CS meals at lunch, etc., the Deluxe plan isn't really that much more expensive. So, we are going for it!

Oh yes...that waterparks are ON! Last year, all four of us went to Typhoon Lagoon and enjoyed Crush N' Gusher, and later in the week when DD was sick, DS & I went to Blizzard Beach on our own. I think he liked BB better, but I definitely like TL better. Anyway, we decided that we would buy either the park hopper OR the water parks package, but not both. With the water parks package, it is almost like having a park hopper, because you can hop from park to water park!

Oh, we have heard great things about the Wave also. I get a very Disney "feeling" when I am at the Contemporary, so eating at the Wave just gives us one more excuse to be there! Luis was the one to convince us to add the Wave to our schedule.

Hey woodleygrrl! Welcome to the DISboards!! We just found this site in early spring and it has provided us with HUGE amounts of information!!

That is very interesting about the ADRs at those three locations. Since we are not planning to do CRT or V&A this time, the only reservation I feel we would have trouble with is the Chef Mickey's breakfast....so I'll try to go ahead and get that next week if possible. The rest of our ADRs should be attainable with no problems.

We still cannot make up our minds, but I think we are all leaning towards the POP itinerary. It would be a new adventure, and I think that is the main thing.

We are DEFINITELY doing the mother/daughter and father/son thing again. DS, who is getting to be too cool for his parents, still says his favorite meal at WDW this past spring was our "guys night" at Tony's. He says he wants to make that our tradition. How special!! The girls did Cinderella's Royal Table this past year, so on our upcoming trip they wanted to try something different. They are planning to have an afternoon at the Grand Floridian and let DD get her hair braided. They will also do the afternoon tea.

Hi Rosie! :wave2: I echo your sentiment about how these boards help SO much! It is great to get so much feedback from people who have "been there, done that." Also, I love to read the trip reports of others.....it makes me feel like I'm right there with them! Trip reports also sometimes clue me in on things I would like for our family to do.

I know this is presumptuous, but I was looking at the Extra Magic Hours at the parks for Jan, Feb, Mar, and Apr. There tends to be patterns and that might help us in putting together our initial itinerary. Based on the information, I am assuming the following:

EXTRA MAGIC HOURS (Mornings)

MK = Thursday mornings
Epcot = Tuesday mornings
AK = Monday mornings
DHS = Saturday mornings

EXTRA MAGIC HOURS (Evenings)

MK = Sunday evenings
Epcot = Friday evenings
AK = Wednesday evenings
DHS = Monday or Thursday evenings

Of course, these are only ASSUMPTIONS, and you know what you do when you assume things! Anyway, using this approach, I am going to revise our itinerary a little to see what I can come up with.

Hey Alan,

I am waiting for the May hours as well. They have the May 2008 hours posted on wdwinfo so that may be helpful to you as well. :thumbsup2

One of the things I was concerned about was MK being closed early on the 16th and so no Spectro but the P&PP is not listed for that day so that shoild clear up the 16th unless of course there's Grad Night but I seem to remember that being late April /early May !! That said I plan to eat at CP on the 20th for the P&P at least I thionk I do or I may eat there the 16th !! Oh decisions !!:rotfl2:

I keep checking everyday. I'm actually excited about it, because once they post those May hours I will feel like everything is starting to come together!

We are excited about having breakfast at CP. We've never been, so this will be a new experience for us.

I've never eaten Breakfast at CP but I love the supper there !! Shrimp and mussels spell HEAVEN!!:rotfl2: I have always found the service and the Characters to be great !!People have said it is noisy but I didn't notice , maybe cuz I'm used to Noise with 3 kids here and 2 dogs !!:lmao:

Ok I'm de-lurking :)

I read your trip report and was hooked so I followed you over here. I really felt like I was there and it sounds like you had a great trip.

We're going in January and thankfully had no issues booking our ADR's including Cali Grill, Kona Cafe, Chef Mickey's, Tutto and Le Cellier.

Looking forward to following along :) Oh and Vacation is one of my favorite all time movies. I can quote it :teeth:

We don't mind the noise....especially for a meal like this one! I think one of our main reasons for wanting to have breakfast at CP is so that we can be in the park early and ready for a big day at MK!

We had breakfast at CP in September and it was so good. Two words. Breakfast Pizza. :cloud9:

Oh! That's it! It's a definite now!! Bring on the breakfast pizza! :thumbsup2

Yay! A de-lurker!! Welcome to our thread and I'm so glad you enjoyed our trip report. This past spring's trip was the greatest vacation our family has ever had.....and now we're planning to do it all again this coming spring!!

You've got some great ADRs. California Grill has got to be my favorite Disney experience - there's just something special about being at such a classy restaurant on the top of the Contemporary and walking out onto that balcony to enjoy the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom! It is really special.

We loved Kona, Tutto, and Le Cellier as well. In fact, we plan to go back to each of them on our upcoming trip. We tried to get reservations at Chef Mickey's on our last trip, but were unable to do so. (We didn't book our trip until late January and started making ADRs in February - we were such rookies!) We hope to get an ADR for breakfast at Chef Mickey's for this upcoming trip.

I know what you mean about the movie "Vacation!" I swear I can absolutely quote that movie line for line - ah, if only I could get paid for all that useless trivia!

The combination of Breakfast Pizza and getting into Magic Kingdom before the park opens is completely worth it. We also had dinner at CP but we loved Breakfast 100 times more than dinner.

I guess I am goimg to have to try CP for breakfast!! I hear such great reviews on it !! But I am doing Boma breakfast I want some of that juice, then I'm gonna get some zebra domes at the foodcourt!!!

Oh yes, that is a winning combination. Our plan is to schedule one of our CP reservation on a non-EMH morning at Magic Kingdom. That way, the EMH morning crowd will be at a different park...and we'll be able to get in early anyway!

We loved that Boma breakfast, Rosie! That juice is Soooooo good! :thumbsup2

Yes I tried the dinner and the spices aren't for me .I did love the theming and the service , and the buffet sounds great !!
