Good morning,
Well for the first time since I have started jogging-running, I am on the injured list![]()
. I was supposed to run hills this morning but only after a couple of meters my leg hurt too much so I went back home. I have decided to take a week off and see what will happen. I don't think I will loose too much and better a week now than months later because I have decided to run injured. It sounds logical when I write it but I am not happy about it because my training was going well
I will just increase the time I take to walk the dog: she will be very happy about that.
I don't know what kind of summer we will have up north but this week will be beautifull. No rain, sunny and warm.
Have a nice day
Diane
Really sorry to hear that Diane. That's really my biggest fear, because when I've tried to get into running in the past I ended up doing too much too soon and getting injured and then I never go back to running once I'm healthy again. Following a plan has really helped me so far. I hope your legs feel better real soon so you can get back to it.
Since I finished the Runner's World beginner training plan this past weekend I don't really know how much to run. I guess my goal is to get my long run and my MPW up as much as possible between now and when I start the Goofy training program I found. My long run on the beginners plan ended up being 3.5 miles so I'm making my long run this week 4 miles. I think my miles this week will actually go down compared to last week, but I'll worry about getting my miles per week up later.
The plan I came up with for this week is 3-Mon, 2+x-train-Tues, 3 Wed, 3-Thurs, 2-Fri, 4-Sat. I plan on always running 3 the first day of my three day weekend (now starting on Thursdays), and half the distance of my long run on Friday and my long run on Saturday. I hope to do the 5k and the Goofy next January, so I want the 3 first as my 5k, then half of my long and the long as the Goofy. I'll keep that pattern as I go. What do you guys think? I hope how I explained it makes sense.

I see every time. So I decide to stop doing that even though I never been injured before
. And what happens, after only one week, I injure myself
to the Rebels, Kristin! You have plenty of time to get your pace up, so relax and enjoy the journey. We have a few members here who are aiming for the race in January, so you will have plenty of company. I think we have a great mix of experienced and new runners/walkers so you have great resources within the team. We're glad you've joined us!
I never thought about switching the sides of the road you're on. How do you do that if you're always facing the traffic? So what are you going to do so that you switch but don't keep injuring yourself?

You're off your duff and that's all that matters! Let us know how it went.
