Team Rebel Alliance Introduction

Steve~ I would love if you posted that! And I train by time too... some days I don't feel as fast as others, so as long as I know I can do 30 minutes here, an hour there, it helps me emotionally

Welcome to the team Andrea! I am training for the same half marathon as you. I recommend finding some 5ks to run/walk so you can get the feel of a race compared to training runs. Races go so much faster. I also hear that everyone likes the couch to 5k plan. I am going to try an 8 week beginner plan that I have in a magazine as soon as I find it. I can post it when it shows up. I remember it starting out very easy and gradually works up to a 65 minute run or walk. After the 8 weeks, I plan on slowly adding time until I get to a 2 hour run/walk for my long run. I prefer to train based on time rather than mileage because some days I'm not at my best and a set mileage just isn't going to happen.

I'll post today's activity a little later. I just bought a new garmin and I'm pretty excited to put it to use.

Good luck team

I would be interested in seeing that training plan when you locate it.

Thank you, Suzann, for the spreadsheet. Sorry it took so much to get it to me! One question... what do I do with it?!:confused3

Do I just add my info in under columns B and C? Or do I put it somewhere else?

Thanks for the help. :thumbsup2

Hey gang. Sorry I have been MIA Was down at disney for Princess weekend and the week or two leading up to it was a little crazy for me. Needless to say I am sooooo far behind.

I don't have a google account to enter on the speadsheet. I can do 1 of 2 things. I can keep track of my own and hand them in at the end or I can email my miles to someone, weekly, monthly whichever works.

Thanks, Suzann, for the PM. Your instructions were very clear and I entered my info for the 9th.

I'm so excited to be a part of this team!

Way to go Andrea!!!

Yesterday I did the stairmaster at the gym for 30 minutes and then ran hills after work. A week and a half till my climb!!!

Howdy Rebels!
My b'day was yesterday, so it was a busy day and we actually celebrated it today instead because DS8 had his spring music program last night. Luckily I got my 4 1/2 in early today because now I'm full and I feel like a slug:confused3 !
Kim....How was the Princess weekend?
Suzann....They just did Master The Met in St. Louis. I believe it's 40 flights of steps. They send them up every 12 seconds. Sounds like quite a challenge.
Steve...post your plan when you find it. I did C25K and loved it....it's on coolrunning.com
I just peeked at the main thread and it looks like quite a few have requested a team placement, so we should be getting some new team members.:cheer2:
Have a great night everybody.

Happy belated birthday, Tracey! :cheer2:

I did about 40 minutes last night on the TM. Boring. I should have gone outside, it was pretty nice. But hey, I did it! Yay me.

I asked a question about shoes on this thread and I would appreciate my wonderful team's opinions! Thanks.

Tracey~ Happy belated birthday!!!! I would bust out in song, but I'm sure people would run... wait, that might get our team moving! HA

Andrea~ I would strongly recommend going to a running store and have them watch you walk/run on a treadmill and then they can determine what shoes are best for you. They might be expensive, but totally worth it for your feet! Or you can even get their recommendation and buy the shoes cheaper elsewhere!

Hello Rebels!

It's been a while since I checked in with my extended family, so I thought I'd drop by....

Suzann: Your WOs never fail to impress me in their variety and intensity. Hills and sprints, the climbing gym, weight vests, hiking, the stairmaster, double dipping WOs, etc. You're a tornado of activity (much more intense than a whirlwind). And on an unrelated note, you have the coolest avatar I've seen in a loooong time!

Tracey: Happy birthday once again. You can never have too many b-day wishes, IMO! Has your DH been going out with you on short walks these days? Also, I saw a thread on the CB forum--why do I ever go there--on Girls on the Run. I thought you might want to post a little information.

Steve: Welcome back to the team challenge. I seem to remember you taunting your DF Dennyha on 'Ohana last year? Sort of a father-son competitive moment. So ignore me if I'm wrong, but I just have to say...."Bring it on, youngster!" :rotfl2: Oh, and I saw Moose on the Hakuna Matata thread. Quite the looker and keeps you active, I'm sure.

Allyson: I didn't know you did murals! Do you have any pics to share? Are you doing the 1/2 this January? The full?

Scott: How ARE you feeling since your 1/2 and about future races? I know it was rough, and hope you are recovering physically and mentally.

Andrea: Glad to see you settling in with the Rebels. I'm so glad you're asking questions on shoes, etc. on WISH. I know you're also interested in weight loss. In addition to the many threads on the main WISH forum, feel free to stop by the Lean Meaners thread. And despite the fact I harass him, Steve's advice about signing up for races and building up slowly is spot on. Maybe he's a chip off the old Dennyha block, after all. ;)

Kim: How's the Goofy training going? I'm still in the weight-loss phase of my evil plan to take over the World. Mwa ha ha.

Keep up the good work, Rebels! I'll be seeing you. (A reference to The Prisoner, just in case there are sci-fi fans among you.)

Hi friends!
Yesterday was a busy day....picked up my shirt for Saturday's race, out to lunch with Mom and Dad, 20 min. Shred DVD, 75 min. Girls on the Run, then, an evening 3 miler! An extra hour of sleep would've done me wonders today, but no go! I'm taking it easy today and catching up on chores.
Deb...Thanks for the heads up, I'll check out the CB.
Andrea....I read the other thread and I have to agree about going to a running store. We all felt apprehensive the first time we went there, but once you go, you'll realize that we all speak the truth. Usually when I go during the day on a weekday, there are very few people in the store. Give it a try. I'm currently switching off between an Asics 2130 and an 1140. I love them both, but on some days, one feels better than the other:confused3 .

Take care guys and Happy Friday!

Deb~ Ha, thanks! :goodvibes

Tracey~ WOW, you've had a busy schedule!!!! Keep up the workouts :cool1:

Yesterday I got in 30 minutes on the elliptical. Not my favorite, but it was a chore just to go to the gym (wasn't in the mood) And yesterday I had possibly the worst dentist appointment ever. I'm still hurting! Not sure if I'll get in a workout today :headache:

I finally ran a bit today. I did a mile on the TM at 9:20 pace. I wanted to do more but I have not done much lately and didn't want to risk anything by going farther. I have walked a bunch over the last two weeks but I am still recovering from that half. It put a whippin on me physically and mentally, I am still trying to recover. After, I got sick and had a deep phlem caugh and I think that took more out of me than I would like to admit. I want to be in 5K race shape by next month. I am still too fat to run fast but hopefully by mid summer, I will be challanging my 5K PR. Enough B*tch*in' from me!

Good job everyone. Lets get those minutes and miles up there!!!

Hello,

So sorry I've been MIA for a few weeks. Work has been insane. I don't have a link to the spreadsheet but hopefully this will help the team's numbers a little:

February
Feb. 11th-5.86 miles at 1:32:31
Feb. 25th-8.09 miles at 2:01:36
Gasparilla 15K Feb. 28th-9.30 miles at 1:58:36
2 hours cross-training

Welcome aboard to all the new folks who have joined our team :welcome: and happy training!

Hi everyone!
Sorry to be scarce. DH left last Monday morning for South Africa so it is me flying solo with the 3 kids. I hate these trips. He will be back in a week. Each March he goes somewhere overseas for 2+ weeks with work. He is Assoc Director of a boarding school and they take some of the kids. Great for him, he's seeing the world, not so great for me. I hate being on my own.

Anyway, been busy. I ran last Sunday, 2 miles, longest since the Half. This week I did a Pilates DVD one day and today tried the new Core Rhythm DVD I got. It was good, I think the abs will be feeling it tomorrow. I hope I like it. I think it would be something fun to do along with the running and I've always wished I could do a little latin dancing! And of course the daily walks with Jackson:

I haven't updated the spreadsheet yet but I will.

Debra--no Disney race in 2010 for me. I have a trip with my oldest DD in August and swinging another in January just isn't going to happen. Plus I can't ask my MIL again to watch the kids (they are in school over that time) so it is a no go. However, I think for 2011 I could ask again (I hate to ask too much, to come live here and babysit them for 5+ days is a lot I think) and I actually asked DH the other week what he thought about the Full in 2011! He wasn't sure. Actually I'm not sure either, on the distance, doing the Half again might be just enough for me! Are you doing the Full or the Goofy?

Welcome to all my new teammates! Good job on the training and sticking with it. Andrea, I was you last year. Started running, had never before and was signed up for the Half. I began with the Couch to 5K, did a local 5K in June, ran all summer, started the Marathoning for Mortals Run/Walk Half Marathon plan in October, did a 5 miler locally in October and did the Half in January. It was an incredible journey along the way!

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

Most WISHers are back from the Princess half, and many of us are going through Disney withdrawal in one form or another....

So, to spread a little PD pixiedust: that will keep everyone moving forward with a Tiggerish bounce in our training steps, tomorrow's mixer question is:

Who or what is your favorite Disney character, and why?

We hope that you feel inspired to post some light-hearted Disney memories on the Team 'Ohana thread. Pictures--from races, recent trips, childhood experiences--and stories are welcomed. And if your favorite character is a Pixar one--or gasp, from some other studio--feel free to share that as well.

Scott~ Way to get back out there! Its hard when you had a tough race!!!

Angela~ I thought I had sent you the spreadsheet before, but I sent a PM to you to send me your address :)

Allyson~ Aww, its tough with a loved one not home! And you should get some minutes taking care of the kids by yourself!!!

As for me, I went to the climbing gym on Friday, injured my thumb on my right hand... NOT GOOD. I have a big bowling tournament coming up next month that I can't be injured for! On Saturday I went snowshoeing for 4 hours. That was fun! Kind of slushy out, but that was ok.
