Popping in to post before I take off for WDW Friday. It's a working vacation, so I may be back. And truth be told, I'll just happy if I can work by the resort pool and not even hit the parks. Just sun, run, a little fun...
Rose: Congrats on the Princess - your 10 minute PR - and on Mike coming along! I'm glad your food is feeling better and you're planning an April 1/2. How was the tummy? I hope a gluten-free diet helps with everything. I did see Corinna's pictures of one of your g-f desserts. Delicious looking!
JenB: Great race, Jen! It sounded as if you had a blast on the course, then at Universal. Ouch - I hope things get taking care of with the plantar wart. We're definitely in for Hershey, although we've made no plans. BUT...we wrote it on the calendar - the rest is just minor decision making.
I'm sorry to read about DD's school issues. It certainly sounds, well, traumatic for her. And the less said about the teacher, the better. Well, something should be said to someone about the teacher - and to the teacher - but you get what I mean. Dyslexia can be so very frustrating for the whole family, and then to feel your daughter's been pigeon-holed and your concerns dismissed. I do believe that once you've got things going in motion, and a procedure in place, things will improve immeasurably. (Even if it has to be with another educator, one who deserves the name.) I don't have any solutions, just sympathy.
Richard: What I find so amazing about your IM is right there in your post. You're doing things you never thought capable of doing. You're meeting your challenges and exceeding your expectations. That's pretty darned exciting, if you ask me. And, if I may go so far, also pretty inspiring. Thanks, I need some of that.
John: As someone who often comes back from a run wheezing from the hills I was so sure I had planned to avoid - what's with this uphill both ways - you have my deepest sympathies for the Austin marathon. I can't imagine 26.2 miles of it. Without a really fun celebration afterwards at the very least.
No MCM for me. It looks as if I'll be gone 3/4 weekends in Oct. at this point. I just couldn't do another.
Maria: I can't wait to hear about the fabulousness of your race. In the meantime, I hope your solo post-race trip was equally fab!
Julie: What, no fun stories from spring break?

Something topless and involving alcohol perhaps? Oh, you mean your children's vacation week. Sorry, bad flashback.
Jackie: So, wait. You're signed up for MCM marathon? Oh, you've got it bad.
Corinna: Love the Valentine's Day story. You have your own Horcrux. Only you! And I mean that in the best way. Speaking of best, you looked like you were having the best time at the Princess. I was stunned to read how many photo ops the race has...38 seems almost...excessive. But good for the memories and as a means to avoid injury. AND for qualifying as a half fanatic! I'm only sad that you're experiencing tendonitis. Your Tri-mode training, although self-diagnosed, seems like a reasonable response.
AFM: We leave Friday for a Fri-Fri trip. Spring break for DOOD, work for me. But it's Disney work, so it'll be okay. I'm just not in the right frame to go to WDW right now. Lots of things happening here that are distractions. Maybe more on that later. Anyway, I remember quite enjoying Epcot Flower & Garden Festival last year, so I'm hoping I'll be more in the mood once I get there. I'm looking forward to running in a t-shirt and shorts, though.
Okay, I will tell you one thing that's going on here which amused me. Monday night, firefighters/medics/police showed up at our apt. complex...again.
Our neighbor across the hall has called 911 before, when her boyfriend collapsed in the apt. They're both in NA. Well, Monday night another person went down, after exiting the bathroom. Yeah, you can see where this is going. The police show up, things get loud and contentious, and my cats are freaked out.
Our landlord has told my neighbors they have to leave, or he'll sue. I don't even see how that's legal. The women on the actual lease wasn't there, although her boyfriend was (not sure if he's on the lease); she was at work. (And to her credit, she hasn't collapsed or relapsed to my knowledge.) So that's been the excitement here.
And the strangest part - this neighbor isn't the most annoying one we have. We have someone who steals our newspaper, elderly people who have lived here 20+ years and who blare their TVs/get in your business, a single mom for whom the speaking volume is always set to 11, etc. I like my quiet neighbors who just like to chill out with friends and some less-than-legal substances.
So, yeah, I love the life of a city-dweller. Almost makes me feel like I live in a big city.
