Team 'Ohana--No One Left Behind: The Continuing Adventures

Race Report

The Bridgeland Sprint Triathlon proved to be a well run event. The race organizers did a great job putting on a fun event.

The day before the race I attempted to get fully hydrated and consumed water all day, plus 96 ounces of Gatorade G2 as well. I was quite surprised that this did not force me to take additional bathroom breaks during the day or night, which I concluded to mean that I was already dehydrated and needed all this to catch up to where I needed to be. From Saturday morning to Sunday morning I gained about 5 pounds, which I concluded was pretty much the extra fluid my body needed to have that I had been missing. By the end of my race I will feel very happy about going through the extra effort to rehydrate my body.

The 500 meter swim was a point to point lake swim, ending in an area adjacent to the transition area. The water was warm but well marked with big orange and yellow buoys. Given the course layout, many early swimmers swam too the first buoy and then along the aligned buoys, which actually lengthened their swim. I started out far to the left and just swam straight towards to distant yellow buoy that marked a right turn to stay clear of the pack. Unfortunately, I twice got boxed in by swimmers that could not swim a straight line and wasted a bit of time getting away from them (although at one point I slowed a bit to let them clear me and saw them swim their heads into each other in an almost Three Stooges kind of way). For some unknown reason I felt a moment of slight panic during the middle of the race, but calmed myself by remembering that I have done longer swims under worse circumstances just fine. I've never felt that way before during a swim, but am glad I got past it...especially since I was out in the middle of the lake at the time! In the end I finished the 500 meter swim in 12:17.

While the transition are was well laid out, they had to cram some unfortunate people way up in the grass on a hill adjacent to the parking lot used for transition that was way out from the bike entry and exit. I was one of the unlucky that got that area. Still, I had a decent 2:18 T1 time.

I had a pretty strong bike ride, if you go by that I passed so many more people than passed me--and generally the ones that passed me were pretty awesome cyclists with awesome bikes. My average speed of 19.7 mph was right around where I hoped to be, and I think represented pretty much my best effort for the course. I worried a bit that going hard on the bike might negatively impact my run, but I felt I needed to put out my best effort to see how my body would react on the run to somewhat tired legs. I finished my bike ride in 42:37. Unfortunately, the posted race times did not show a record of my bike time (in fact around 1/3 or more racers lacked a bike split) and showed an excessively long T1 time instead, so I calculated my speed based upon my watch split and the 14 mile known distance.

Transition 2 was about as good as it was going to get for me as I had to cart my bike way across the transition area and past the run start, before trekking back to the exit...but I still managed a 1:56 T2 time, so I really should not complain much.

My run was looking to be my biggest question mark going into this race. I have never run the whole course as part of a triathlon before (though I have run all but the aid stations), but I planned to run every step of today's run. The biggest complication today was the early heat, which I expect was in the mid-80's by then and very sunny. Fortunately, once we got past the first half mile there was occasional shade from trees, and most of mile 2 was on a tree-covered path. I covered mile one in 10:08, which I consider to be a solid time for any mile for me in any race, then I covered miles 2 and 3 in a combined 20:30 (I did not see the mile 2 marker.) which surprised me even more. I was definitely pushing a pace that took real effort for me, but I felt good while doing it. As I passed the Mile 3 marker I knew that there was only a half mile to go and I had been running alongside another runner from my age group that I had been determined not to let get away from me, so I pushed the pace for the last bit and with about 150 yards to go I ran all-out. I figured if I was going to get passed, it would not be easy on anyone to do it. I held off my challenger and beat him by 6 seconds, so I have to guess he didn't have what it took to stay with me at the end. My time over the final half mile was an amazing 4:30, for a 35:08 total run time. I held on to a volunteer for support while they took my timing chip and gave me a cold water bottle and an ice-cold, wet towel, before finally walking off to stretch out and meet up with my coach at the finish.

My stated goal for this race was to finish in the low 1:40 range (1:40 to 1:45), but I really hoped to get into the 1:30's. In the end I finished in 1:34:16, which happily beat my goals. More important to me, though, was that I gave a hard effort the whole race, which is what gave me ability to surpass my goals.

Great job Richard! Several of my friends were there today too and said it was brutally hot and humid. Congrats on pushing all the way and coming in with a great time!

Richard! -- What a fantastic race, I know you are so proud of your accomplishment! You were determined, you did what you wanted to do, and now you have a spectacular race memory! Awesome job!

Maria :upsidedow

Great race Richard!:goodvibes You are making me want to take swimming lessons! (I can float but that's about it.)

Maria--which hotel are you staying at? We have stayed at the Hard Rock and the Portofino (sp?) when DS was going through his universal stage. The hotels were awesome, but I'm glad that phase is over.:rotfl:

Mike and I are planning on doing the Wine and Dine in October and then will most likely be at Marathon Weekend in Jan. I haven’t signed up for anything yet but am definitely considering going Goofy again this year. I made a training schedule that starts at the end of August. Hopefully that will keep me on track for January.
We are doing the W&D 1/2 as well. It will be my second half. My first is on September 4th. And my DH is Mike as well.:goodvibes Are you coming to the Dismeet at Boma?

Richard--I can only imagine dealing with an audit. The non-profit I work for is going through it next week. I have a very small part in it and I am ready for it to be over! I spent a couple of unplanned hours today getting stuff together. Not fun!

The heat just makes me mitchy.
I totally feel the same way.:thumbsup2 I am trying not to complain because I hate winter, but goodness it's getting old this year.

Hi all!:goodvibes I had a mini meltdown this weekend, and decided that maybe I am over training/ over exercising a bit and maybe being a little too compulsive about the weight loss. I have a new "plan" in place and I think it will get me through the races over the next 8 weeks or so. I am going to maintain no later than the end of the month, no matter what my weight.

Weird treadmill question--Does anyone ever feel like their arches feel like they are collapsing on the treadmill? I have no problems outside and have relatively new shoes with inserts. I don't know if it's a form problem or maybe I need different inserts for the treadmill.

Have a great week!

I wish I could help with this, but I don't have any arches to speak of. My feet aren't totally flat, but my arches aren't very high. Makes it difficult to buy sandals and flip-flops because a lot of them have a built-in arch support that's way too much for me. Anyway, since treadmills are softer and more stable than roads, I can see how it would make sense that your feet would react differently than when running outside.

Richard: First, good news for your FIL. I'm very happy for him, your DW and the whole family. Second, wow for the Bridgeland Sprint Triathlon. For everything. I think I had a visceral reaction to the amount of liquid you put into your body. (Works just like running water....) I can only imagine being boxed in by other swimmers; I just know I would panic. And I DO count the # of people you pass in the bike leg being a strong indication of your performance on that leg – well done. Wooo hoo for the run leg, all of it, from your pace to beating your challenger to that last half mile. You more than beat your goal, you blew it out of the water!! :cool1:

Rose: Cool, it'll be great to meet you at W&D! I'm so out of it, though, that I didn't know about the Boma meet. That's what I get for being out of touch and not running.

In response to your TM question with arches....I'm not sure I have much of an answer as I run sporadically on the TM. Or my runs on the TM are sporadic. Probably both. I do know, though, that my pronation differs quite a bit from the TM to outdoor surfaces, so I'd think that your arches would be affected. And like you, I don't have as many problems outside.

AFM: And now that I've said I don't do much running on the TM, I have to confess I've been hitting it more often than I should. I was outside M, inside W. We'll see what tomorrow holds. I was struggling with breathing & the heat/humidity.

And a silly note. My hair stylist asked me for half-marathon training tips. Me! Can you believe it? :goodvibes:rotfl2:

Debra - Sorry about making you sick with all that Gatorade I had, I sure did not drink it all at once, just throughout the day. I was only try to get hydrated for the race and seemed to find that I was dehydrated to start out. Thanks for the knid praise! I generally don't mind the heat (at least not too much), but this year I seem to be agreeing with your assessment of the heat. ugh!!!

Rose - Floating is a good start to swimming.

Maria and John - Thanks!!

I've been laid up a bit this week :headache: First, I tweaked my knee some and need a bit of a break from running. Fortunately, swimming and biking both seem OK (seemed to feel fine after 2.5 bike hours Saturday), but after one mile Sunday running I knew I would need a longer break :sad2: from running. Fortunately, I'm smart enopugh to do what it takes to rest up for my goal, and I had a long talk with my coach yesterday about my training schedule where we decided top make this an extra recovery week since it's a busy work week for me anyway. I'm also back online after being down a week due to a dead laptop computer :scared1:, though I fixed that with a purchase over the weekend (however unexpected it was, meaning I may not squeeze in a treat for myself in October where I was hoping for a special weekend trip).

Back to work now...

Did someone say Boma???

How many of y'all are coming down for Wine n Dine? I realized a couple weeks ago that I needed to train for this thing, so I'm a little behind :confused3

Rose...one of the docs I work with told me that though I have freakishly high arches, they collapse when I run. Sooo...the custom orthotics are just the thing. If you haven't had a podiatry eval, may be a good idea.

debra...so what did you tell her?

Richard...take care of that knee! Congrats on the tri!

Maria...how ya been?

Matter of fact...how have all of you been?

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2486274

Here's the link for the Boma meet on Friday of the Wine and Dine weekend. I'm pretty sure there are still spots. Mike and I are going along with our DS and a friend (DS is flying down from college and meeting us there.) I think they are meeting for pictures before the dinner--4:00--in the lobby of the AK for pictures and an informal meet.

Richard--hope your knee is better soon.:goodvibes

Thanks for the comments on the arches. I have inserts for my running shoes, and have had no problems outside since I got the new shoes and inserts. I'm starting to think maybe it was the sandals that I wore to work on the day I ran on the treadmill. I guess if it keeps happening, I will get someone to look at my feet. Hoping to put off running regularly on the treadmill until December.

We are running 12.5 or so this weekend, then next weekend only 8. The first half we have scheduled is for Sept. 4th. We're kind of treating it as a training run and a practice for W&D. I feel very ready. Last weekend we went 7 or so and did the galloway method--run with walk breaks, 4min/1min and I feel like if the temps are bad or I get in trouble, that I can do that and finish strong. I'm hoping to run the whole half in Sept, W&D not so sure about. Last year when we were there in October, it was so miserably HOT, even at night.

Hope everyone is doing well.:goodvibes It's only in the 80s today, which is so nice! I hate to wish summer away, but I'm looking forward to some cooler temps!

Richard,

Great job at Bridgeland. I used to work with the RD so I was around - more as a coach (or really sherpa) for a nephew and his first tri. You two were similarly matched performance wise. He is a couple age groups younger and about 4 minutes quicker. He is not a great swimmer but smoked the bike with a 20+ average and then averaged 8 minute miles.

This guy is a self coached/taught athlete who was a good 140 pounds heavier 4 years ago. He saw me dump weight and patterned off my actions... I can no longer run with him in races longer than 5 k. his 8 minute pace in this race was a reflection of not working very many brick workouts.

Great Job.

Rose&Mike

Take a look down at your feet when running both outdoors and on the mill. Make sure you are not changing the direction of where the toes are pointing. Sounds a little like you may be penguining (toe out) a little on the mill. You may also be changing stride length creating a little different foot fall pattern. It's interesting that your are feeling the delta. Not every runner is aware of body position.

Mel! -- Great to hear from you! It's been a crazy summer, lots of visiting dh's relatives, TM repairs, etc. We're watching "Eureka", "Warehouse 13" and "Haven", and without ds I'm watching "Being Human". I just read Stephenie Meyer's novella, "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner". We'll see what comes from the library next!

I'm definitely in for Princess, just figuring out arrangements. As long as the registration stays open until after our upcoming vacation :woohoo:, I'm good. Wish I could come for W&D, but not possible this year.

Ok, who's still posting on the Team Ohana thread? I think we need a late summer roll call just to check how cousins are doing this summer! :stitch:

Maria :upsidedow

Helllooooooo, Cousins! The summer travels are at an end and I predict many of us will return to the DIS soon. Reunion time! :goodvibes

Richard: How's your knee? I'd give you a hearty clap on the back for being so sensible, but we're rather far away from one another. So accept this virtual :woohoo: I hear you about the broken computer, having replaced my hard drive (under warranty) and battery (not) in the last month. Even when it's free – and I'm sorry to hear it's not for you – there's all that work to catch up. And I'm super sorry to hear about the Oct. trip.

Mel: How have YOU been? Still considering a move, maybe?

I forgot you're doing the Wine & Dine! You've got such a good base that I know you'll be fine. And, of course, it'll be a great race for you. Inaugural baby, inaugural.

I gave her the 10% rule and cutback weeks, recommendations on how far out to train, and then talked about some of my favorite trails. (Love that Jail Trail for flat, shady runs.) I initially offered to lend my stylist some of my books for her half marathon, but that's more effort/thought than she wants to put into things right now. And she doesn't want to pay for the Pgh marathon training groups, so I told her about the Runner's World plans. We're not tight, so I didn't volunteer to run with her.

Rose: That's a really wonderful set-up with Boma. I'm not sure I can make it, though, as that's my MNSSHP night. I'd thought about heading in early for pics. I'll need to think about it. Plus, I don't want to take up any spots for people actually doing the race.... :rotfl2: I'l try to make the pre-meal meet & will definitely be cheering at the race, though. I hope to meet you.

On a different note, you and DH sound more than ready for your race. The Galloway method is just perfect for the heat, too, and it'll give you a sense of how to proceed with the Wine & Dine.

Maria: I'm thinking, very hesitantly, about the Princess. I need to renew my AP early in March and....ah, the justifications. It depends on AP discounts, as I'd be traveling by myself & I get frugal when going solo. I just wish they hadn't moved the date on me.

AFM: Still gutting out the short runs, but see an end to all the heat & humidity. Woo hoo! I actually don't dread going outside, which is a change. The mileage is still short, but it's nice to be able to get up at the reasonable hour of 6 again.

I'm still making plans for Wine & Dine weekend. Again, not running but planning to meet people. I've not made any ADRs because of Food & Wine, but now am thinking about trying a Sat. meal at Via Napoli. Yep, I'm a big spender. (I want to review it.) Because it's new. I haven't tried to get reservations and thought I'd ask...is there any cousins who want to try a meal with DOOD and me. Pizza, on the day you run? (Come on, it's a night race.) I could try to get ressies. Let me know in the next couple of days _ say Saturday – via PM. If not, a meet-up the Sunday? I have a brunch from 10 a.m. – noon, but I'm pretty clear after that. And is anyone doing the Sunday MNSSHP? I'm doing Friday, but if people were going Sunday I could try to switch tickets.

Hey cousins!

Haven't spent a lot of time on the boards. Been feeling sorry for myself while nursing an injured hip. As of yesterday, I have a steroid injection that the ortho says should get me through MCM. After that, I'm afraid we're talking surgery.

Everyone's W&D plans sound like so much fun. We have reservations in Hershey for the Half that weekend, but it looks like we're going to cancel that hotel room. Fortunately, I never forked over the cash to register for the race. I'm going to be pushing it to get trained for a marathon on the 31st - no need to try to squeeze in a half on the 3rd.

Taking tomorrow off to take DD back to school. Should be a nice, hot, humid day. I'm not cleared to run until the middle of next week, so climbing stairs in the dorm should be plenty of activity!

Richard - Fabulous job on Bridgeland! Hope the knee heals soon so you can get back to all the sports.

Jackie

Jackie - I am so sorry about yuour hip, I know you've been hurting, but this just bites. I'm glad to hear that your doc thinks that you can get through the MCM before the surgery.

Debra - Fortunately my data was all intact and a friend transferred all my important stuff (documents, music files, Disney podcasts....and such). I do like my new Gateway laptop, though the keyboard design is different, resulting in misspellings and such until I adjust. :confused3 As far as that October trip goes, there's still a chance it could happen now I (perhaps somewhat coincedentally) had some extra money come in for some consulting work I'd given up ever collecting...work that paid just a bit more than the cost of my new computer.:yay: I hope you are right about the cousins returning to post after summer is done, I'll be happy to see the posts of the long-lost and busy start to come back. BTW, let me not forget to congratulate you on some outstanding writing work that I've read.

Maria - Ahh, good old sci-fi, I think I could just watch the TV with you all day and never run out of good things to watch.

Rose - That Boma meet sounds great, hope you really enjoy it. I hope to get there one day with Darcy on a kid free trip (even if the "kids" are 20 and 22 these days--how did that happen ???:rotfl: ) one of these days. I am sooooooo agreeing with youu on looking forward to cooler weather. It was yucky and warm when I walk out the door this morning at 630, and got worse with the sunlight on today's bike ride, but it is what it is..,.

As for me - It was a frustrating early week as I tweaked my shoulder during a swim on Tuesday , however my training got better as my knee held up through two shorter bike rides on Wednesday and Thursday. This morning I covered over 40 miles in just under 2.5 hours with no real knee issues --it was a bit stiff early on but loosened up. I did take it easier on a few hill to avoid putting too much stress on it. Tomorrow, I'll give it a 1.0 - 1.5 mile easy test run if it feels good, so I am looking forward to trying out the morning run.:yay: Work has been stressful with some turmoil there, though likely not anything that can not be handled...though why is it that both my office staff and my feild staff can not both operate without turmoil at the same time? Alsol at work, we are to resolving a long term water supply plan for my part of the county that we have been examining for months. Strangely enough the potential solution that had always been considered the least likely to follow through with looks to be the most cost effective solution (between $5 - $20 million less than other options with a $42 million price tag of its own). Just someone tell me how did I ever end up in the position to be making decisions with THIS kind of importance and price tag? On the weather front, I am coming to terms with believing that my Labor Day tri in Austin will be a 100 degree day, maybe more incentive to finish early!

Hi All!
Debra (and anyone else coming for W&D)--Mike and I are thinking about doing the piano bar at BW (can't remember the name) Sunday night, if you (or anyone else) would like to join us. We debated doing MNSSHP, but we did it last year (MNSSHP), and Sunday will really be our only good night to do grown up stuff.

Jackie--I'm so sorry about your hip. I hope the steroid injections work!

Richard--here's hoping it's not a 100 degree tri.:goodvibes And I highly recommend a kid free trip.:goodvibes We took one last October. We weren't really ready for it yet, because I was still not dealing with the empty nest well. We took another one in May for our anniversary and had a blast. We went running twice, ate where we wanted to eat, only did what we wanted to do. I love my Ds, and we always have a fabulous time at Disney, but I had lots of fun with just Mike!

Maria--where are you staying for Princess? I'm at BWV with the sisters (assuming they come). They email me that they are all still training, and they did decide to not invite the cranky sister--very long story there. I'm still hoping someone else decides they need a room, but if not, it's only a couple of days, and I know lots of places to hide at BW if it gets too crazy.:rolleyes1

AFM--Our DS is back at college, which means our house is quiet again.:goodvibes We've been catching up on sleep. Mike and I did our last long run today before our race on Sept. 4. We ran 13.11 through some rain, and unfortunately thunderstorms. The good news is, the temps were great! The lightning was a little scary, but we were so far into the park when it started, there wasn't much to do except keep running. We ended up at 2:40, which I'm hoping means that with a good taper, that I can get under 2:30 for the race in September. As for W&D, I just want to finish smiling. I am really counting on it being really hot and hoping that I'm wrong!

Have a good weekend!

Hi Cousins!
Things are so surreal right now....I think it is the jet lag. We got home yesterday from the end of our long European adventure, and I've got one kid with a stomach virus that has devolved into fever - I can't tell how much of his fatigue is jet lag and how much is viral. I rented to own a flute for my older son today - has to have it for the first day of school and the school just said to make sure he had it...so I went to the music store and just got one. I have no idea if how it's going to go - it was his second choice, and I half wonder if he'll be the only boy in the section. Impossible to know if he'd think that was a good thing, a bad thing or a completely irrelevant thing, but I figure the rent-to-own deal was the best plan for a 6th grader.

I'm a little incoherent as my brain still believes it is 3am in Barcelona right now. Which it is, come to think of it. I am daunted by the prospect of posting trip photos - there are way too many. I will just summarize by saying that it was an amazingly amazing trip, I got to run in London 3 times, including a long run that included a spin past Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar square, the Disney Magic is trying to make me fat (and partly succeded - I have gained 5 pounds this summer, at least 3 of which I attribute to the past month, and finally, I should have packed 2 fewer dresses and at least one more casual shirt than I did. OH - and the laundry machines on the Magic don't use quarters any more - it's now all keycard swipe. If I had known that, I wouldn't have packed 4 rolls of quarters!:sad2:

I will do a few quick shout-outs, probably in reverse order:

Rose - Definitely go to Jellyrolls at the Boardwalk if you haven't been before, especially if that is where you are staying! It's lots of fun!

So glad you and Mike survived that storm - I've had long runs (and one 5K race!) that turned into thunderstorms as well - definitely scary at times, but it is hard to know what else to do besides keep going and try to get finished ASAP.

I don't think I've ever been to Disney in October when it wasn't sweaty hot - of course since I'm staying home from this race, your chances of nice, comfortable weather may be improved! :) Whatever the weather is like, you can have fun at a Disney race, at least.

Richard - It sounds like you're doing a pretty good job of balancing activity and recovery. I hope those injuries settle down for you very quickly and that the craziness at work does as well. It's amazing how much things have changed in the past 10 years such that the least likely solution is now possibly the most likely! Sounds like important work to be doing - I am sure you got to where you are through hard work and a long history of thoughtful decision-making. I'm crossing my fingers for comfortable weather for your tri, as well. 100 degrees is TOO hot, I think.

What a great race report you wrote as well. Congratulations on a STRONG performance that day! The weather sounds oppressive, and yet you totally rocked your goals, even with the challenges you faced in unfortunate transition area and weather. Nicely done! :thumbsup2

Jackie - I'm so sorry your hip is being so...difficult. I'm glad you're OK through MCM, but surgery after that sounds very concerning. Sorry you won't get to do the Hershey race, too, but it sounds like it's for the best.

Debra - you are making me wish I was doing Wine & Dine or at least coming down to gawk and eat pizza! It would be great to see you at the Princess, though - I'm plotting to do that one as well - it seems like there are a few of us possibly going solo for that one. And I can definitely believe that someone would ask you for half marathon advice - you definitely have some to share!!!

Maria - Thanks for starting the Roll Call! It's been a wild and crazy summer, for sure. I hope we haven't permanently lost any cousins along the way. (Nobody is supposed to get left behind, after all!) I've decided that I am cousin #214 (Special power: takes bad pictures of victim)

I'm still here! :) Not much going on aside from getting ready for the DLR next weekend, trying to plan my racing schedule for this season, and doing my best to avoid the heat and humidity. I'm having more luck with the first two than the last. I think we're in for another two months of 95-100 degree temps. Ugh.

Maria - thanks for the roll call. :thumbsup2
I'm still here, just haven't felt up to posting. I'm just able to do a few minutes of running before 1 or more of my 3 injuries act up. Nothing is painful, just tweak-y, but I'm too nervous to push it. I'm just so frustrated with taking it easy and not running. And I feel like I can't plan on any races, which is also bumming me out a bit. I'm doing some new physical therapy stuff now and still walking about 10-15 miles a week. So it feels like things are finally improving. Hopefully I can actually do some training soon.

Corinna - your trip sounds amazing and exhausting! Hope your little guy is feeling better.

Richard - hope your week of recovery fixes the knee tweak. Congrats on your last race!

Debra - I'm glad you've been able to get in your short runs. I'm sorry I'll miss everyone at Food & Wine. We are going the following week. I did make a Via Napoli reservation, as I'm anxious to try it out too.

Rose - sounds like you'll be all set for the Half! And yes, Jellyrolls at BW is so much fun!

Jackie - I'm so sorry about your hip. It's amazing that you've been able to train through it and are still running your races.

Must be off to bed
Aloha, cousins!

Good Morning, Cousins!

Glad to see so many checking in! I know it is the dog days of summer, and some of the puppies may be out and about and not ready to come in yet for the Fall.

Nicole -- I feel your pain. Well, not exactly, but I started Sunday barely able to move my shoulder, and it's gotten a little better, but not enough to run...I know how very frustrated you are since your maladies have gone on for much longer. I am so glad to hear things are on the upswing. You will be running again before you know it! :thumbsup2

John -- Best of luck to you and Corinna (and anyone else I missed!) doing DLR! I hope it's comfortable and pleasant, with fantastic road conditions...:goodvibes

Corinna -- So happy to see you back and recovering from your fantastic trip! :boat: You must feel like you are barely able to catch your breath before DLR. I hope the boys start school after Labor Day, because otherwise that really is just a lot to do! ::yes::

Rose -- I haven't figured out where for Princess yet, only that it will probably be at a Mod -- although I haven't ruled out the Deluxes yet -- I guess I'd better get a move on before all the 40% off rooms are gone. I've recently heard horror stories about people staying at the Values from last Jan., and the length of time it took to get back to the resort. I do need to put some thought into my arrangements for Princess, but I'm going to have to get through the beginning of September first. :teacher: I predict you will definitely finish W&D smiling, you will be in a Happy Place! :)

Richard -- Just in case you'd like to note, the premiere date for Sanctuary and SGU is Tues., Sept. 28th. :3dglasses I wonder what's going to be on Fridays, since they've moved these two to Tuesday? My Tivo is going to overflow and I may have to make some hard choices... :rolleyes1

Jackie -- I think we're getting close to your running clearance -- you must be excited! I am sorry it looks like surgery is in the cards, but I know you would rather get it dealt with and get on with it. This has been troubling you for so long, you deserve to have it end!

Debra -- I am envious! I think W&D is going to be a ton of fun, and I know MNSSHP will be spookalicious! The new discount package does include Feb dates, so it makes solo travel a bit less daunting...I hope you will be with us, the crowd seems to be rapidly growing! :grouphug:

 to all the Cousins! I'd better do some work this morning. I had my review last night and after a glowing assessment, I'd hate to not produce anything...;)

Maria :upsidedow

Maria - Thanks for the sci-fi (or is it SyFy?) update. Ihad not kept up over the late summer but am looking forward to th enew season.

Nicole - Thanks!

John - I a soooo afraid you are right about the extended possibility of hot weather. At least it has been "cooler" the last two days. Of course by cooler I mean upper 90's with slightly less humidity. :rotfl2:

Corinna - Welcome back in country! I hope things settle down for you soon. Thanks for the kind words on my race report and my career comments...I have (somehow :rotfl: ) become respectable in my career circles. Good thing I still know how to have fun with my life and not take too many things too seriously--and having all you guys around helps with that!:)

Rose - Thanks for the kid-free trip input! I am looking forward to talking Darcy into one. Actually a few stars have aligned (some extra money is coming in, plus a fun event is 2 weeks out from my October 70.3 that could be a good last training weekend!) and I am planning to push that idea on Darcy for an early fall trip.

AFM - My knee is healing and near well. I did 1.5 miles last night at the track alternating running and wlaking laps. The knee still felt well this morning and I can tell it is on the verge of being healed. OTOH while swimming on Monday I got about 35 yards and felt a sudden sharp pain radiating from my near my elbow through my shopulder and into my upper back. OUCH!! :headache: However, after speaking with my tri group coaches who feel I would benefit from a chiropractor visit, I have agreed to make a chiropractic appointment. After speaking to several friends and co-workers I am thinking I am the last person around who has not been to se a chiropractor. ;) Any input cousins?

IO took advantage of last weekend's sales tax holiday to buy some new running shoes. Technically since I'll be wearing them at the local junior high track I feel that's close enough to qualify for the education benefit of schooling.

On a happier note, is there a list of Ohana cousins going to Wine and Dine and your resorts? I thought it would be nice to put out there if it is not listed yet? (Maybe I have just missed it...)
