Team 'Ohana 2009: No One Left Behind

Hi 'Ohana! Thanks for the invitation. I'm going to pull up a chair. Well let me see the newest song for me that makes me chuckle is "Your mine" by Jason Mraz. I love the verse about him checking out his tongue in the mirror until he fogs up the glass. There is another song that always makes my daughter and me laugh, "It's a small world" because one of our favorite memories of our last Disney trip was on that ride. It had nothing to do with the song but we still associate it. It was one of those moments where something clicks in your mind that you did earlier. It was about gnomes and I totally got it while on that ride. :lmao: Yes, my daughter thinks i'm a bit slow. Now she has decided I need a gnome collection. So, my house is going to get overtaken by little gnomes.

Good morning, y'all! Thanks for the invite!
While I cannot think of a song that makes me laugh, I have definitely gotten some chuckles out of some of the stories posted here this morning!!! :rotfl2:

Oh, and by the way, Creativebeth, I absolutely love the picture in your siggie! Go Jr!:thumbsup2

Aloha, Cousins! It's great to see the Mixer is already cooking today.

I'm getting out the blender in case anyone wants a frozen drink later. For now, how about a round of Screwdrivers?

party:

Now there are many songs that make me laugh, and Allyson already know of my obsession with Mondegreens (misheard lyrics) - I LOVE that story about making his horse sing cause who ever heard of a a heart singing!

Allyson!- congratulations on your new team - it's a cool one, for sure!

Maria!- I love that story.

For anyone who has missed this, Take On Me, The Literal Version cracks me up every SINGLE time.

Thanks for that link....so funny. I loved a-ha, even saw them in concert!!!

Hello to the Ohana team! Thanks for the invite. I am loving the stories, I don't have a story to tell, but Jimmy Buffet songs make me feel good! Thoughts of vacation, warm weather, etc. just go with his music!

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone. Thanks Team O'Hana for hosting this Monday Mixer; what a neat idea. I'm coming from the Fat Girls Walking Club and have been busy on the board getting ready for my first 5K in 2 weeks. Well, to the topic, the song that first came to my mind is "Tutti Ta Ta." What is that you ask? Needless to say I have been in the early education field for over 25 years and have just recently retired. So, those songs are still floating around in my head. The reason I chuckle everytime I even think of that song is a father was visiting the class that day and participated in the actions that go along with the tume. It required him to stick out his bend knees, stick out his rear, close his eyes, stick out his tongue and turn around while singing the words. It was just hilarious!!!! What made it even funnier was the fact that his profession was funeral parlor director. What a good sport he was; he even enjoyed the activity and wanted to know when he could come back. Just thinking about it now is making me laugh as I type this. Thanks so much for helping me start my day with laughter.
And, as for the comment about the answer to the universe is 42. Well, that really made me laugh. Anytime a question is posed in our home my husband answers 42. Wow, did that blow my mind.
Love this idea and enjoyed participating. Take care everyone and enjoy the day.

HELLLOOOOO cousins!! It's Tracy the co-captain of Walt's Warriors!
Thanks for the invite.

Last song that made me laugh was "All Night Long" by Lionel Richie. Took me back to my high school band days. We played that song and when the chorus part comes up we all put down our instruments (the entire band) and sang the words and had this little dance thing we did. I just laugh to myself at how silly it all seemed to us then!!

Debra: What icecream are you into eating right now?

Have a good Monday everyone

Too funny, because we do the same thing here. In fact, as soon as someone says "I have a question" or "Can I ask a question?" someone will inevitably say "42." My sons were so excited the summer we read The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy together -- you could almost see the little lightbulbs go off in their heads as they finally got why my husband and I answered 42 to everything.

and at the risk of revealing just how bizarre we are, when we were looking at houses nearly 15 years ago, we found one I loved and my husband was on the fence about. Then I pointed out the house number was 42, and that convinced him I was right to purchase this 200-year old money pit, ghost and all!

Oh, and corinnak, thanks so much for that link. I'd never seen the Under the Bridge one, and it had me in tears laughing! "Look at my slo-mo pecs." :lmao:

Aloha Ohanas!

Just about every song from the 80s makes me laugh, since I thought many of them were going to stand the test of time, and be classics...you know, songs like

"Wild Wild West" by The Escape Club http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQkyYC3si3c

"Big Country" by...umm... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkr_2G3Jlko

The Hooters http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOoU_0PAKoI

The Proclaimers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd1IfDN6VKY

Regarding 42 ...pretty sure thats from a little known book by Mr. Adams, correct?

Thanks for hosting...time for a protein shake after 2400 yards swimming.

I'll be nicely recovered for a big tumbler of single malt with a splash of water in a few hours.

Mike

I'm lovin all of the visitors and stories

As for my song it would be Weird Al's "I Bought It on Ebay" which for some reason I had never heard prior to last week. My DD5 was sick and went to bed early and my DH and I were stunned to have extra time on our hands. So of course what does a couple do with extra alone time...:rolleyes1 naturally, we opted to clean the house and sell a ton of random junk on ebay. We actually made about $200 :cool1: I heard the song a day or two after we listed the stuff and couldn't stop laughing.

I love having visitors! Thanks for dropping by everyone!

Corinna, that was so awesome! I had never seen it before and just forwarded your link to a gazillion people I know would enjoy it. So, so funny! I must have seen that Aha video at least a thousand times, but never like that. I watched all 3....slo mo pecs! hilarious!

OMG, I've gotta get some work done here. No time to check out all Mike's links.....come back to those later!

HELLO 'OHANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:wave2: (I never can remember where that apostrophe goes! :headache: )

Am I late for the party? :confused3 Well, I can't think of a song that made me laugh, but I just went to DD's school to preview the puberty video they will see on Thursday (the boy and the girl version). Let's just say, the boy version made me laugh! :rotfl2:

Oh, those boys are going to be so embarrassed!

I'm going to have to go back and read the past two pages that I've missed so far. First, I've got to go to the store and buy some nourishment (aka groceries) for the family, so that they don't shrivel up and starve.

Jackie - :grouphug: <- Consider that a BEAR hug from me. ;)

Thanks for the invite! :goodvibes

Welcome cousins! It's great to see so many people stopping by! (And it's making it really hard to get any work done, especially since the boss is off this week...)

Jeanne - I could probably get to your trash before they finish melting...

DD and I watched "Grease" Saturday night, so it's probably safe to say that I laughed through a good portion of all of the songs. I admit, I'm a child of the 70's, and I absolutely LOVE that movie. Takes me back to a wonderful summer I spent working at our church camp, and a wonderful summer romance... yep, I definitely laughed, and smiled a few times too. Have actually just reconnected with the subject of that romance on Facebook!

Corinna - Are the drinks ready yet?

Jackie

I everyone! :wave2: Just wanted to say hi from Team Rebel Alliance :goodvibes

I brought my own drink, hope thats ok :thumbsup2

Jack Team Hakuna Matata

Good morning O'hana!!

Hmmm, laughing out loud...I had to laugh at my two cats the other day. They were both rolling in the dirt and then while they were on their backs they both looked up as if to ask "Okay, who's better at this??" So I spent the rest of the day humming Tom Jones song Pusseycat!

Here's to us! :drinking1

Come by Hakuna Matat on Wednesday for an ice cream social!!

Yes, Jackie! The drinks are ready!!! I thought -what would be more appropriate for Team 'Ohana than

bluehawaiian.jpg

Blue Hawaiians all around! I made some virgin ones as well - They're the ones with TWO umbrellas. :)

JenB - I had missed out on the Ebay song. Fantastic!

Suzann - of course you can bring your own drink - it's so pretty!

"Everything's drawn and - super 80's"

Hello Cousins!

It is so nice to "see" so many other WISHers here today. :thumbsup2

Jeanne - Boy, you've been busy! I'm glad that your dinner party was a success, although it looks like a lot if invitations must have been lost in the mail, mine included. I'm sure you'll do fine with your race, even without all of the training that you wanted to get in. :thumbsup2

Marcy - I hope your DD is better soon. pixiedust:

Corinna - Your hour of XT (Jillian, resistance band, and killer core WO) sounds intense. I don't think I could ever think of you as a slow lorris after reading about your XT! :cool1:

Nancy - Congrats on the 11 lbs! That is awesome! :cheer2:

Debra - I hope your back is better. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get to go to your Oscar-fest. If DOOD is feeling guilty, why not leave DVC promotional material on his pillow, in the fridge, on the sofa, etc. until he gets the hint?

Jackie - :grouphug: I hope that things calm down for you and your DD. My DD is 9 and I am really not looking forward to the teenage years. :scared1:

JenB - 7mph would be FLYING to me. I don't think I could run that, even for a nanosecond! Isn't cleaning the house and selling stuff on ebay what all couples do once the kids are in bed? :confused3

Maria - Yes, I survived the 2nd double playdate, but then poor DD got sick. Thankfully, she's better now that school is back in session. I'm so glad to hear that your luncheon was a success. :thumbsup2 Your college party story was funny. I can't imagine bringing my mom to some of the parties I went to. I also can't imagine her wanting to be there.

Allyson - I love the bacon cakes story. So cute! :)

Erica - Your song story was great! Out of the mouths of babes, right? :rotfl2:

Hello Cousins and thanks for the invite!!

42?!?! We're going to get lynched, do you know that?
We have the radio series and have listened to it on long drives. Hysterical :lmao:

There are lots of songs that make me smile from memories or thoughts of vacations. As for making me laugh, one that always sticks is when my son was about 3 or 4 (now 20) we were in the car after work, radio playing. He often hummed along or made up his own words. This day AC/DC comes on and all of sudden in this booming voice he starts singing along "Dirty Deeds, done dirt cheap". I glance in the mirror to see him head banging! When I asked him why he was doing that he said "not the good air guitar part yet".

The first of the "well d'uh mom" moments to come over the years.

Time for drinks!!

Have a great day!

I almost forgot to write about the songs that make me laugh out loud...

One is Bare Necessities from Jungle Book because when DD was little, she used to sing, "forget about your worries and your stripes..."

Another is Is That Love? by Squeeze. When they sing "beat me up with your letters..." DH used to think they were saying "beat me up with your lettuce..." Now, whenever DH does something stupid, I'll threaten to beat him up with my lettuce. :rotfl2:

Finally, there's Taxi by Harry Chapin. DH was singing it one day and couldn't remember the words. (In case you haven't noticed yet, knowledge of song lyrics is not his forte.) I was in a silly mood and convinced him that the line "she was gonna be an actress..." was really "she was gonna be an acrobat..." I didn't give it another thought until he was out with his friends one night and that song came on and he was belting out the wrong words. Oops. :rotfl:
