Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

Hi Team Mickey!

I was planning to pop in more, but am having a hard time just keeping up with the Donalds! It looks like you are doing a fantastic job, keep it up! Congrats to all the losers and maintainers and especially LisaH! You are rocking this challenge! I'm leaving in 3 days for DL and the Tink half, but will try to pop in and say hi again before I go. Its great to see so many new and returning members and I can't wait for the thread merge. Have a great OP day!

Yesterday I was probably Sleepy. Today I am Grumpy, but not as grumpy as I was before I started catching up on Dis. Made it to the Y this morning for my stretching class and then got my walk in. Now I can just be lazy the rest of the day!

DS1 is driving me absolutely crazy. He's in high school but getting college credit for one of his classes (supposedly). As a prerequisite to this class he had to pass a test. He's had all semester to do it and finally took it last week and missed by one point. Took it again and did worse. Took it yesterday and passed. But apparently yesterday was the last day to register for the class that's ending tomorrow at the high school and I think ended yesterday at the college. We were trying to get him registered last night and it didn't work!!!! Now he's at school and I feel like I need to rescue this situation. grrrrr And to top it all off, he's mad at us because "you all think I know how to do all this stuff!" :lmao: Hellooooo! You are 18 and can't wait to get out of the house, yet can't get your act together enough to save yourself a couple thousand dollars?! I'm trying to just laugh because I really, really want to strangle him!!! Teenagers are such a joy.

On to better things. I ran yesterday and although I was slow, I was out there. I don't think I'm going to make my exercise minute goal this month, but won't panic. There's always next month.

Way to go Team Micky on the losses.

LisaH you totally rocked it! :goodvibes for your run this weekend. Hope you aren't in pain any more from your fall.

I exercise and have for decades so I guess I like it. I love walking and am astonished that I'm still running (9 months now). I may be pokey but I am there huffing and puffing.

Hello!
I am new to Team Mickey! I have been slow in getting started because of these darn steroids I have been on! I had a never ending sinus infection for the last two months. I am hoping I am finally well, and these steroids are a thing of the past!

I am a yoyo dieter who would like some stability. I need to remember that this is a way of life, not a short term fix! I lost 30lbs before our 2009 trip, but gained it all back. We have another trip planned for this June, so I am hoping to have a big loss and be in much better shape before then! :)

Sleepy-- Slept till 11. It's just dark, cold and wet here. Really wanting to just lay in bed and read today.

Totally Tuesday QOTD: Must be time for our mandatory exercise question…Do you genuinely enjoy exercise, or do you have any tricks to make it more fun (or both!)?

Maria :upsidedow

I think I really like walking best, but I know I burn a lot more calories on the elliptical. I don't actually enjoy lifting weights but I love being strong. Music definitely makes or breaks every exercise session. Most of the time on the elliptical I just close my eyes and go all out and don't really care about how I look...I just think of Phoebe and Rachel on Friends--the one where they are out jogging and Phoebe starts running like a kid--arms flailing--because it's funner that way...lol. I really enjoy stretching and the jacuzzi after...:)
It's also kind of like dancing-- as close as I get anyway. I used to love to go to dance clubs when I was young.
I really enjoy swimming too but it's just such a hassle to actually do it.

Just Another Magic Monday pixiedust: QOTD: Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It’s Off to Lose Weight We Go! Happy, Grumpy, Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Sleepy, and Sneezy – which Dwarf are you feeling like today and why?
Maria :upsidedow

Yesterday I was happy, I was going back to the gym (for the 1st time in 2 wks) and I was starting a new week with a plan...:rolleyes1 (more about this later)

I could eat Tex Mex 24/7, but I don't think I would like the results :rotfl2: Sounds like a great mix!

Oh boy, looks like you're goin' all out! ;)
Maria :upsidedow

I'm a big fan of Tex Mex too... YUM! About the game... it looks like I might be off the hook, my DH will have to go into work. So I will have to make something for dinner but not a lot of during the day snack food. So I might make chili, and grilled cheese for my son who won't eat any liquid foods that are red . (Toddlers :confused3) Of course I'll have to have chips, and dip but I will try to stay away from them!

hey guys, still having a tough time :/ I have managed to stay within my calories, but not go to the gym. I pinched a nerve last week ( I think) and it is causing my terrible neck/lower back part of my head pain :( Usually after a few days of stretching or massage it goes away and it just isn't this time :( It feels like an electric shock going form my neck to the back of my head! Happens like every few seconds! OUCH!

ANY tips about this?

Oh no! Feel better! :goodvibes Sorry I have no tips :sad2:

Congrats to the Biggest Loser!!! Way to go. I hope to get on that list next week. I've recorded EVERY bite I've put in my mouth today (even that piece of Lindt chocolate truffle). Felt good to enjoy that little treat knowing I was accountable for it. Bedtime soon as I get up around 5am for my furbaby and then the Y before work. I'm going to do my best to get here each day. I need accountability :)

I always feel so accomplished when I have everything tracked... it's something that has really improved cause of the HH before I would conveniently forget to put in certain things.

Eveything is tracked, working on my last glass of water, and ADRs made for our weekend trip. Alan went to Sam's Club earlier today and picked up a few things. We had steaks and potatoes for dinner. We were going to have sloppy joes but the hamburger didn't thaw out in time. So we'll have them tomorrow. I made a batch of eggs in a basket and a batch of chocolate chip muffins.

Many of my friends have asked what "eggs in a basket" are. Its a recipe I found on Sparkpeople.

Did I read somewhere that you will be going to Disney in May?? If so what days are you planning to be there?

Totally Tuesday QOTD: Must be time for our mandatory exercise question…Do you genuinely enjoy exercise, or do you have any tricks to make it more fun (or both!)?

Maria :upsidedow

I don't enjoy exercise, not like I used to... but I do enjoy how I feel after. This is what works for me... remember what it was like when I was fit. In HS I played volleyball, and I was in the Marching Band, as a flag twirler. Both of those things required plenty of stamina, which I got from working out. Also both of those things gave me great workouts... in college I stopped doing any extra workouts, sports and marching so yeah my physical activity level dropped a lot.
I also found out I like working out in the morning more than at night, I also like working out with friend. Lastly my gym plays music, and also has a small screen at each cardio machine where you can watch the news, tv, or music videos. I used that couple of times but it doesn't cut for my... so I've created playlists on my iphone that range in tempo to match my mood.

i'm starting to like it more. i've found the only way to make running fun is to have a goal. when i run i like to mentally picture myself running a disney race. i like to think about how i'll feel when i cross the finish line. even though i can only go 3 miles right now while i build back my fitness, i think of crossing the WDW marathon finish line and i even get a little choked up! that keeps me going.

I was thinking about that last night... I hurt my knee in HS and since then have stayed away from the treadmill. I'm considering doing the c25k to get back on it, and was thinking about making one of the Disney races as my goal.

And you know what? Congratulations to all the gainers, too (myself included)! We're still here, we're still reporting in and working our programs, and we're not dropping off because of a gain. We are all awesome. :)

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: Agreed!

I'm hitting the reset button today!
I finally got a decent nights sleep, thanks to my Transitions CD (glad I kept that from when the kids were babies).

I've had a good breakfast.

The snow is gone from my yard!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I'm going to load the RV supplies back into the RV now that they are binned up (mice, ergh).

Then I think I'll hit the treadmill or maybe the Wii if it's still hooked up in the kids room.

5 months until our WDW trip. I want to shed some weight!!!!! Time to kick it into high gear!

YAY!!! :goodvibes

LTS - Congrats on finishing the Disney Vacation book, bet that was a lot of fun to look at once you were done!

Lisah - YOU FELL!?!?!?! When??? I missed that, sorry! How are you doing?? How exciting about your race! We'll be cheering you on! Oh and congrats on being the biggest loser!! :cheer2:

Hey Mickeys...

Sorry if this turns out to be long...but I just need to get some stuff off my chest! This week was supposed to be a great week... and its not ruined yet but today has been an exhausting day!

After last week I thought about what I could do to make staying op easier and I came up with a list. This week I'm scheduled to close at work (except for Wednesday cause of school) so I knew I could go to the gym before work, which I prefer so that was good. Then I made a order from Fresh Direct for healthy frozen foods, packaged salads, and healthy snacks to take to work, and school. So I felt ready for the week.

Yesterday was great, I was up at 4:50... got dressed, packed my gym bag, ate my breakfast and even had time to say a quick hello to you guys before heading out. At the gym I met up with my coworker (also my gym buddy). I did 30 mins on the elliptical w.o stopping :cool1:. Then we did crunches, planking, and some other types of exercises (IDK their names). We also did sit ups, this was an eye-opener for me. Before when I was healthy I loved doing sit ups and would race with my dad or my brother to see who could do more, well yesterday I couldn't even do 5 w.o struggling :scared1:. I was so bummed out, my friend was great about it but ugh. Anyway the rest of the day was great and op.

My dh had mentioned to me that when my DS woke up yesterday his eye were very dirty, and he had some very nasal discharge... so I asked him if he was better when we spoke during my lunch. DH said oh yeah he's better... well when I got home he still has nasal discharge and his eye were all gunky too. I immediately knew it was a sinus infection. I was slightly annoyed at DH downplaying it over the phone. Well today I took him to the pediatrician and yeah I was right. So she gave him drops and antibiotics. Told me he needs to stay home tomorrow.

So I immediately start stressing... Tuesday is my day off, and its usually my homework day. My mom comes over and watched my son while I get school work done. Well not today... I have an assignment due tomorrow which I haven't even started. I did get home from the DRs office till 2, and then feed my son. He fell asleep for his nap and I would have started my assignment but then I feel asleep too.

Oh yeah so I had to call DH and ask him to ask for tomorrow off, see DH is part of management at his job and he has lots of sick and vacation days. Me not so much... I work as a part time teller and get 6 sick days a year, and 3 wks vacation. Also people at my job always give me a tough time about calling out, I just didn't want to deal with it. Also I have class tomorrow night :headache: so yeah. DH was able to get the day so that makes me feel a bit better.

Sorry for the extremely long post... off to do school work!

I did not sleep for most of today! (I spent a good chunk of time at the grocery store though. :headache:)

I woke up after the 4th alarm, which isn't that bad, although wasn't my goal. But, I woke up and stayed awake. I exercised-outside! I attempted C25K outside! I made it through 4 runs before my iPod decided to not to work on me again. :headache: I downloaded another C25K podcast and am hoping that one will work better. I will try again on Thursday. I plan to go to the gym tomorrow.

My mom and I took a walk after she came home, so I did get my 30 minutes of exercise in today! :thumbsup2

Eating was not at all OP though. I was definitely emotionally eating. I tried to stop myself, but nothing seemed to work. :headache:

I did turn things around and dinner was OP! :thumbsup2 I will skip an evening snack/dessert and keep on truckin' tomorrow. :yay:

Congatulations to our Top 10 BLs and especially to Lisa!

In the words of Maureen, it's being here that matters most! :)

Totally Tuesday QOTD: Must be time for our mandatory exercise question…Do you genuinely enjoy exercise, or do you have any tricks to make it more fun (or both!)?

Maria :upsidedow

I am definitely a "social exercise" - I like classes better than solo exercise. Maybe that's why training for a half is so hard for me. I prefer running with a group, or boot camp class or a spin class with lots of people...

SUE -lisa seriously?? again!! you are totally rocking this challenge AGAIN! :worship::yay: can't wait to see your shiny reward in the form of the tink medal!

jude hi!! :wavehello: didn't get a chance to welcome you on here yet! nice to see you :)

have a wonderful day everyone!:cheer2:

Way to go LISA!!!!! :cool1::cool1: I can't wait to see/hear everything about the Tinkerbell. We'll all be with you in spirit!!

II've never been big on group exercise because I feel like I stick out, but I got over it several months ago to go check out a friend's Zumba class. I have really enjoyed that, but I haven't made it to a class since before the holidays! The schedule of the classes is part of the problem, but I'm hoping to get back into that next week. I bought a ten-class pass to make sure I'd go, and now I need to go! I'm not particularly coordinated or graceful, but I really enjoy the high energy and music in Zumba, and I do think the group environment is good for me.

Liz, I WISH i could like zumba. Unfortunately, there is not enough alcohol in all of upstate NY to make my body move that way....:rotfl2:

Hi! I'm new too so we can be the newbies together. :grouphug:

I don't know if it's the "new years resolutions" folks but the 5:15AM spin class was packed this morning. Folks who arrived after 5:06AM were closed out of the class due to the lack of available bikes. OMG - can you imagine getting up at 4:30AM and not being able to get into the class? That would have been a really bad start to the day. Luckily, I'm anal about getting there a little early and had a bike...

Still working on the menu planning - hope to have it done by tomorrow and hoping it wil help my results!!

I teach as as adjunct at our local university and tomorrow is our first "real" night of classes so I'm signing off to make sure my prep is complete. Have a great night everyone!!

And a big WOOOHOOO to all the losers, maintainers and sticking-with-it folks out there!!

I'm hitting the reset button today!
I finally got a decent nights sleep, thanks to my Transitions CD (glad I kept that from when the kids were babies).

I've had a good breakfast.

5 months until our WDW trip. I want to shed some weight!!!!! Time to kick it into high gear!

:yay: for sleep! :woohoo: on breakfast!

:goodvibes for your weight loss goals! A trip to WDW is an excellent motivator!

but I also am one that likes how I feel after I've worked out.

So far today staying on track. Really hoping to see a loss this week.

Same here! It really helps me emotionally!

:yay: for staying OP! :goodvibes for a loss!

QOTD: Nope! Exercise is just not fun for me and I don't know how to make it fun. I wish I were one of those types of people that loved to go to the gym to get all their frustrations out - but the gym frustrates me!

Ok, I have a journal to keep track of my food and exercise. It has Mickey on it - o bonus! Now, to just make some changes in the way I eat and organize my life.....

I do get my frustrations out at the gym, but, I do so much better when I am one of the only people there. Monday nights after work were awful. It was so hot in there (clean though :thumbsup2) and I felt like everyone was hovering over me. Now, I try to go at less popular times. Being unemployed gives me more options for times, but Thursday and Friday nights and all weekend are good times too. :goodvibes

I do think there is a certain irony that right now I am using WATP and it is really the only video that I have ever seen that I can do everything in it (so far). To be WALKING for my exercise when a good amount of my weight gain was from being unable to actually walk for so long is something I actually never thought would happen. So far I am doing good with a mile and it isn't hurting my feet or hip too much. I am still getting a good bit of soreness and tired from just this "easy" workout so I figure I need to stick with the slow and steady one mile for now. Hopefully I can move up to the 2 mile next month, maybe. I am definitely using a whole lot of muscles that haven't been used much the last few years. But I know I look like a dancing cow while I am doing it-- I have all the grace of a 3 legged elephant.

The important part is that you are out there exercising! :thumbsup2

On to better things. I ran yesterday and although I was slow, I was out there. I don't think I'm going to make my exercise minute goal this month, but won't panic. There's always next month.

:cool1: You are exercising! :thumbsup2 Don't sell yourself so short.

:welcome: BABY_EINSTEIN'S_MOM. Please PM me if you have any questions or feel free to ask on the thread! Good to have you!

I really enjoy swimming too but it's just such a hassle to actually do it.

I thought you had a pool. :confused3 I understand what you mean though. I am not a big fan of being wet and cold.

Sorry for the extremely long post... off to do school work!

First, feel free to post. (I do. :rolleyes1) We are here for you.

Hope DS feels better soon. :goodvibes If it makes you feel any better, my father always thought I was fine unless I was throwing up. A cold was always treatable with some nasal spray. :headache:

Hope you are able to finish all of your work! Keep us updated.

Warning: Boring!

Today, I tackled grocery shopping for the first time in too long. My parents stopped for a few things a couple of days ago, but didn't buy deli meat that I can eat so it was time for me to head to the supermarket. I must have burned some calories with the amount of time I spent walking from one end of the store to the other. :rotfl:

I was so lost, and I wasn't the only one. :rolleyes1 I had to as where the produce department is. I'm serious. :rolleyes1 How can you not find the produce department? Well, first of all, it was tiny. Then, I couldn't find the produce on my list and the tomatoes looked horrible. I was shocked at some of the prices too.

Now, I must say, I did amazingly well as far as staying on budget goes. I had exactly $73 in bills on me and I spent $73.03! I bought 6 packages of meat, deli ham and cheese, and some other odds and ends. My parents have a Keurig and K-cups were on sale so I picked up a package of those. I also got a great deal on garbage bags and margarine (also for my parents). We needed mustard and it wasn't on sale unless you wanted the jumbo bottle, but I did have a coupon and the store doubles them so not too bad. I got a package of tuna fish for 50 cents and a good deal on bananas and apples.

I am really enjoying this budgeting thing. It's been exciting to see that I can eat healthy and GF without breaking the bank. :cool1:

So I immediately start stressing... Tuesday is my day off, and its usually my homework day. My mom comes over and watched my son while I get school work done. Well not today... I have an assignment due tomorrow which I haven't even started. I did get home from the DRs office till 2, and then feed my son. He fell asleep for his nap and I would have started my assignment but then I feel asleep too.

Don't you just love those cute little schedule-busters? It never failed that my kids would get sick when I absolutely couldn't take time off (when they were babies). I'm knocking wood that they stay decently healthy this winter! We've had a couple of colds, and they both had ear infections before Christmas, requiring antibiotics. :scared1: But they've been mostly smooth sailing since - I just cringe every time the school's phone number shows up on my cell!

Liz, I WISH i could like zumba. Unfortunately, there is not enough alcohol in all of upstate NY to make my body move that way....:rotfl2:

OMG, I hear you. When my friend (a super-tiny, super-energetic, would-be-annoying-if-she-weren't-so-sweet Zumba instructor who's also a colleague) convinced me to try it for the first time, I stayed WAY at the back of the room and just tried to keep up. As I started learning the steps, I found that while I don't bend the way I wish I did, I was having fun and getting good exercise. I moved up a row or two, and it helps that the class I go to is done with blacklight - my mistakes aren't as visible! :) Another friend just told me today that I should really try Jazzercise, so that might be my next venture.

I weighed in today - despite last night's big dinner out - and I was down 0.6! I know if I'd weighed in yesterday, it would have been more than that, but I'm still pleased that I had a good enough week to weigh in the day after an enormous meal and still come away with a slight loss. It's what I was expecting and hoping, and I can't complain. Onward! :woohoo:

UGH! Came home and had chips and dip! I think I should be ok as I was way low on calories! I should've worked out but I did give 2 massages today!

Watching BL! Hope to squeeze in some type of workout tomorrow. Postponing tubing as it was so warm today that the tracks at the tubing park are really slow. We want it to be fast and fun. Instead we are going to go see Beauty and the Beast in 3D! Kids have a 1/2 day so we will be going to a 2:15 show!

Gotta take kids to school and then get an oil change and then have a cleaning! Glad the day will get better when we go see the movie!

Need some water! My downfall is Cherry Coke Zero! We have been out of it for several weeks and I got some today! It tasted so good! I limit myself to 1 every day or every other day! I don't drink coffee but drink tea so that's my caffeine!

Have a great night! Time for that water!

CONGRATS to our weekly #10 LOSERS and to LISAH :cool1::cool1:

QOTD -- i used to almost like exercising but not anymore, it's a funk i'm in when i don't feel good and it's really hard cycle to break.

and OH CRAP! tomorrow is Wednesday and that's getting really close to Friday!! what i have done with my potential week that i could've done much better with!!

Nancy -- my endo doesn't take insurance either and it really influences my care, i know, b/c i'm too frugal to make appts as often as would be ideal. is yours a research endo? you'll appreciate the term used for less than stellar endos on the Cushing's board I go too...endiots :teeth:

:welcome: to our new teammies!!

I'm just gonna post and run. It's no wonder I'm sick. 3 out of 7 students I serve were sick yesterday, some classes were down upwards of 8 or 9 kids and several teachers have the flu. Thankfully mine's mostly sinuses and a cough, nothing too unbearable.

I just made the five hour drive to Cape Girardeau after teaching all day so I am beat. I ate on the road, not the best meal ever, but will be better tomorrow. The bad part was the school district forgot to make the reservation for this session! (I'm going to a training on teaching kids who are deafblind. There are three separate sessions and I guess they just forgot.) I hope it gets straightened out tomorrow. Oh well. It will work out.

Ice, ice, baby! That's what I've got on my knee right now. I did something to it I think Sunday. It hurt a wee bit yesterday, and of course I ran. It felt fine. Not so much today! Bummer. It's hot and aches and I'm mad because I was looking forward to another run tomorrow morning before I sub at noon. Now I'll just sit on the couch popping anti-inflammatories and icing the stupid thing. grrrr Climbing up stairs then bleachers for DS2's basketball game then down them and back up some different bleachers for DS1's game was killer. I felt like an old, old lady! But DS1 had a personal best of 22 points!!!

Oh well. Had a pretty good day food wise. Could have been better but I'm not going to stress it. Think I'll move to the couch and stick my leg up and read for a few minutes before I go to bed.

Have a great Wednesday, Mickeys!!

Good morning everyone! I've been out of the thread loop, my laptop at work was down and home has been a little busy. Hope everyone is doing great and I did see the losers list for the week so CONGRATS to all! I ran my fastest 5k yesterday after work, 38:34. It was one of those "wow this is pretty painless" runs, not the kind of run I feel like I'm wearing lead shoes! Have a great day!

Welcome Something New Wednesday QOTD: Disney is unveiling a brand new tv channel – Disney Junior. This 24/7 channel will be completely devoted to material for preschoolers. If you could have a Disney Channel devoted completely to your interests, what would the programming include?

QOTD: I wish they would bring back the old Disney of about 14 years ago when they should Wonderful World of Disney. When Brian and I first got married we would watch the old episodes with Walt Disney hosting. They were so amazing. We have bought some of the old classics that they call Treasures but to have a 24 hour channel with all the classic stuff would be the best.

Going to see Beauty and the Beast today as the warmth yesterday made the tubing runs slow so we will plan on going next month the next time the kids have a half day. I think we may also go to Red Robin for lunch as we got a gift certificate for Christmas and it is across from the theater. That will be my main meal today. Shake for breakfast and one for supper. ALso need to start baking for an event at Izzie's school Friday night. I'll be selling books there and hopefully winning one or more of the baskets in the raffle they do. We haven't won one in years. There is also a cake walk so I need to make a cake for that.

Gotta go see how Izzie is feeling this morning and get Brian moving so he can go with me to take my car to the shop!

TTFN :tigger:

Good morning all! I have been painting a condo and today I am SORE, ugh. I did not eat "healthy" but then again I need the calories to do the physical work.

We will see how it plays out on Fri. for weigh in.

My parents are moving into my brother's condo which was neglected and we are "rehabbing" it. It is getting there.

QOTD?

My channel would be Disney movies, all the time, old and new.

isn't it weird when you just KNOW you'll be down b/c you did everything right and then you get on the scale and you're UP (!!) but then you have a night of going off plan and you wind up down?? our bodies are so weird sometimes! keep going! :)

my endo is the pioneer of PCOS. he wrote the book, "PCOS" and so i know he knows his stuff. but it's just too expensive and too much of a big deal to get down there now. when i worked downtown it was easy to just zip up to his office. plus i was making the big bucks so it wasn't a big deal to pay the money every three months. but now our income is half what it used to be and that means something's gotta give! luckily, my internal medicine guy was totally cool with giving me the metformin prescription for SIX months! awesome!

ENDIOTS!!! :laughing::rotfl: so true.

Have a great Wednesday, Mickeys!!

ugh, so sorry about the knee! major bummer. make sure to get it checked out! you don't want to let it get worse!

Have a great day!

nice job! an easy run! woot! that almost never happens to me! :lmao:

Welcome Something New Wednesday QOTD: Disney is unveiling a brand new tv channel – Disney Junior. This 24/7 channel will be completely devoted to material for preschoolers. If you could have a Disney Channel devoted completely to your interests, what would the programming include?

Maria :upsidedow

another great question maria! hmm, is it bad to say i'd like a show about food?? lol! what about a cooking show where the chef shows us how to make all the great food at disney?? sure, i have the cookbook but sometimes the food porn from the food channel is just as good as eating the food (almost)

besides that, disney movies, disney travel shows (like samantha brown, minus the host..can't stand her :rotfl2:)...oh and bring back ooh and aah those cute little monkeys!

****
hoping to get out for a run this afternoon. still trying to work off my weekend gain and report at least a maintain instead of a gain this week!

have a great day everyone!!
