Evening Mickeys!

We decided to visit my grandparents today. It is a not-so-short, but bearable 2 hour drive to visit them. It was a quick visit, but very enjoyable. I got to see 2 of my cousins as well. We like to hang out and chat and do that for hours. My mother has to take a break from us. She says her ears hurt. :rotfl2:

We got home later than expected, so I did not go to church. I debated scrambling to get there, but decided against it. The weather report is a little vague too and there were some predictions of snow tonight and others of a dry night. :confused3 Unfortunately, they are all predicting freezing rain early tomorrow AM into rush hour. :headache:

I posted a slight loss for the week. I'm following Lisa's (and others who are escaping me now) advice. A loss is a loss. I'm not sure how this week will end up, but tomorrow is a new day. The hard part with today is that I wasn't at home. I suggested bringing food and my parents vetoed that. :headache: Everything I ate was GF, but not necessarily OP. Yesterday was almost perfect so I'm optimistic. Plus, there are 4 more days left in the week. I probably won't make it to the gym tomorrow unless the freezing rain stops and melts, but I will make it there on Tuesday.

 to all those who need one.

:woohoo: for our losses, maintains, and continued participation! :woohoo:

Have a great week! Drive carefully! :goodvibes

well it's official, i'm struggling and dangling my foot off the wagon....sigh

i'm grumpy today and i'm sure my family will attest to that. my endocrinologist wants me to 're-test' to see if I have active Cushing's right now and his preferred test is a midnight blood draw. it's cold and wet here and i really don't want to do these! i set myself up for everynight through the end of the month, God willing if this is truly what is going on that it will show itself and i won't have to go everyday for the next 10 nights.

((disneywedding)) for all that this time of year stirs up in your heart...my prayers with you friend, and may you have a wonderful trip next weekend honoring Josh and Maddie by living your life to the fullest

LTS -- i chuckled as well at your scrapbooking true confessions..i'm right there with you sister. i told myself in doing these midnights that i'd spend the late evening each night at my SB area being productive and tbh i'm so perterbed about it that i'm feeling very far from creative

i  reading about everyone's local foods :thumbsup2 i did not realize that 'coffee milk' existed and now i feel gipped in never having tried it! I need recipes for: date squares and raspberry white russians please!

i'm born, raised, and still an Ohio-ian. here is our best known native treat -- buckeye candy

i made 400 of those darlings at christmastime...it was crazy and tedious! otherwise i think we eat normal mid-western foods: lots of grilling in the summer (chicken, burgers, brats-- cookouts with baked beans, coleslaw, 'salads' that have nothing green in them like potato salad, macaroni salad) and for my family--meat and potatoes type meals (beef or chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes) well that's what they'd love all the time but in reality get once a month at most :) we have all kinds of restaraunts around here, mexican, chinese, BBQ, pizza, deli sandwiches like Jimmy Johns, and bar-food

and for super bowl -- it's low key at my house, usually DH watches until half-time and goes to bed....too late on a 'school night'

alright -- i did not workout at all last week, this week i pledge 3 workouts and better food journaling

Had a pretty good day today.:goodvibes After a really tough week it was nice. Was sweetly surprised at work to see my friend...Only worked 4 hours then saw(heard) our symphony pay tribute to Disney this afternoon. Then came home and essentially recovered and am still in the process. Going to really monitor my drinks tonight-- calorie and oz's of alcohol. I was putting 4 oz in every drink, now I'm just putting 2 and like that so much better. I'm finally up to the 4th Jean Auel book. It's been slow going with them because my interest level is just up and down. I got to hear her talk a few months ago though here and that was fun. I told her I really appreciated her character's involvement with animals and asked her if she had any pets. She said she always had cats and dogs but since her writing got popular--essentially it was too hard on them with the travel. She's really just the nicest lady.

**PS
I have my proper motivation...Had some tinkerbelle sweats I was going to wear to the thing today but decided I'd Try the tinkerbelle jeans I have that are too tight now and I can at least fit in them without getting an instant UTI.

Liked this a lot-- I did add some crushed garlic and shook it all up in a paper bag.
Chili Popcorn
This is a SparkPeople.com Recipe (WHAT'S THIS)

Popcorn makes a great snack, but can be a little mundane. Chili, garlic, and cumin give this popcorn a kick!

Ingredients

1 quart popcorn, popped
1/2 tablespoon margarine, melted
1 1/4 teaspoons chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
dash garlic powder

Directions

1. Mix hot popcorn and margarine.

2. Mix seasonings thoroughly.

3. Sprinkle over popcorn. Mix well.

Serving size: 1 cup

Ugh. I have felt horrible the last two days. I feel like I am coming down with another sinus infection (this will make number 4 since Thanksgiving.) The kicker is that I have been on an antibiotic for close to two weeks now. I go in for my CAT scan and follow up next week, so I hope that will answer some questions. I may be slightly allergic to the antibiotic, but after doubling my Zyrtec the hives went away and now my legs just itch a little. I will see if that goes away after I finish the course. Once I get the results form the ENT, I will follow up with the integrative doctor and find out what the blood tests showed.

I am a little nervous because there is a chance I have a gluten allergy, and my allergist said that if the hives come back, I may need to go on a preservative and dye free diet. I really hope it doesn't come to that.

These last two days have been a bust. I mostly stayed in bed and felt like crap. I have to go out of town in two days for a training, so I hope I feel better by then. It's a seven hour drive each way.

Well, I didn't get my kinect workout in. I got wrapped up in the football game, LOL. So, now I have to figure out my workouts for the rest of the week. I need to do a minimum of 45 minutes every day from today (its after midnight) til Jan 31st. Why, you might ask? Because I'm shooting for 1200 minutes of exercise this month.

This is how my week has looked/will look:

Saturday:
1 mile
Sparkpeople video (20 minutes)

Sunday:
Nothing

Monday:

Sparkpeople video (20 minutes)

Tuesday:
BL Kinect

Wednesday:

I spend a lot of time dangling my foot off the wagon. I don't want to get comfortable there! I feel your pain! I love those candy buckeyes! I had them lots as a kid growing up in Kentucky with relatives in Ohio! YUMMY!!

I love the exercise goal you have set for yourself and how you have your exercise calendar laid out like that. It has got to be great for accountability.

I am really growing to love this group of losers! I feel a huge motivation just knowing there is this board to come read and post on. I feel like we all can feel each other's pain and share in our triumphs. This is just great!

I was supposed to get 8 miles in on Saturday before the Tinker Bell. It was below zero all day Saturday. Didn't even get to ZERO!! I put my run off until today, but then was bombarded by laundry and "real life" stuff I needed to do for my family. Damn family! lol. Just kidding. I didn't get to run until 8:30 tonight. I got 5 miles in on the treadmill, stopping between each mile for a few mins to catch my breath. I managed 15:00 miles, which, for me, is pretty good. Tomorrow is a new day! I like that saying, too!

I hope everyone has an amazing day tomorrow and stays OP!!:thumbsup2:

Good Morning!! Just a quick hello before heading out to the gym and work. Have a great op day everyone! :goodvibes

MelindaRuns, WTG on your run on the TM yesterday! No way I'd be going out below zero degrees, so woo hoo to you!!!

I FINISHED MY FIRST DISNEY TRIP ALBUM!

Woo hoo!!!!!

I feel better reading about some of the other DISers babybook and scrapbook situations...I, too, have a babybook for DS 1 that goes up to when DS 2 was born, and no book for him--yet! Vacation books?? Not yet, someday....maybe that should be a new challenge for us:lmao:

Went to take DD to church and then stopped by the grocery store to pick up some Truvia --Bless you RutgersAlum!!! Just tried it in a cup of tea because I do like a little sugar in my hot tea and it is wonderful! I am going to try it in my coffee in the morning with some fat free half and half or milk and see if that works. Since I love my French Vanilla creamer maybe I can go backwards-- French Vanilla coffee with the Truvia and fat free creamer. I have a feeling me and Truvia are going to become good friends! I also bought some Agave, I have some recipes that use it and I have been wanting to try it.

Hope the Truvia works out!! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone.
I'm new to team Mickey - I'm not sure I'll be able to get through all the posts! :rolleyes1 But I'll keep up from today forward....:goodvibes

Welcome, JBM02!!!!! Just jump in!:goodvibes

Bad WL weekend for me, but I did keep up with my HM training plan and went 4 miles yesterday (furthest I've gone in years). Still have to send in my gain:sad2:...packed a bag filled with healthy snacks for work today, so I should be ok. Gotta get ready, check you later!

Hi! I was glad to see that others also plan out their week. I do really well with planning my exercise but not-so-well on planning meals. With 2 kids and a DH and lots of after school and other activities, it's a big challenge for me. I planned to try and work on a weekly menu yesterday but, well...the day just flew by with housework, homework, mending and Sunday dinner prep. I'd like to get on the WW site today and try to work out something but DD has basketball practice from 7 - 8:30PM (site is 30 minutes away) so I might be fooling myself that I'll get it done. If anyone has good dinner planning strategies, please feel free to let me know! (and I'm new so if I've hijacked an earlier discussion, I apologize - I only readthru the last 5 pages!! :rolleyes1)

..anyway, I'm just back from the Y. Here is my work out plan for the week:
Monday: AM boot camp class, lunchtime 3 mi run and 15 min ab class
Tues: AM spin class and OFF at lunchtime
Wed: AM - sleep in! and lunchtime tabata class
Thurs: AM spin and lunchtime run (hopefully 4 mi but we'll see...)
Fri: AM boot camp class and lunchtime run (interval hills)
Sat: OFF
Sun: spin or run, depending on how I feel...

Hope everyone has a good day!

Just Another Magic Monday pixiedust: QOTD: Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It’s Off to Lose Weight We Go! Happy, Grumpy, Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Sleepy, and Sneezy – which Dwarf are you feeling like today and why?

So very definitely Sleepy! I usually commute just on Tuesdays, but I had to commute today for a special meeting. It's gross and cold and slick outside, and I was up too late after football - and up too early so I could drop off DD4 and hit the road this morning. I could easily doze off on this desk...

My plan today is to do this meeting and then head back home for a midday workout and lunch before I start work again.

Tonight we head out for a wine dinner - Spanish-themed, yum! The restaurant hosting this does very reasonable portions, so I think I can keep it all in check, especially because I'm driving tonight. So DH will be the one staggering back to the car after 5 glasses of wine... The timing is less than ideal because I weigh in tomorrow :scared1: but I'm hoping the rest of my good week will carry me through to a small loss...

XO
Liz

Good morning TEAM MICKEY! ::MickeyMo

LTS, sorry about the popcorn thing. It's good to remind your family of priorities 'cause they seem to forget a lot around here. :rolleyes1
I think it was Pamela who would scoop ice cream for her family every night and never eat a bite. :sad2:

Linda, thanks for the gentle  -- I am feeling better every day. :goodvibes And acting like an old lady afraid to go out in the weather.

Hi Buffy!

:welcome: Jude! Nice to see you! :flower3: Don't worry about catching up and just start from here. That's a heck of a work-out schedule you have going on. I had to take a break from the 100 days challenge with my fall so will start up again in February.

Lisah I hope your ribs are ok and you have no pain! Are you planning a run this week? Maybe wear something tight on your core for support!!

Thanks, Melinda! :flower3: I'm just doing two short runs this week and it will give me a chance to test to see what is going to work and if I can do my run/walk intervals. It does hurt but it gets better every day.

CC, thanks for being HH coach! :flower3: I'm going to get back on the HH wagon after the Tinker Bell. :tink:

Molli, sorry about the midnight tests. Nothing wrong with hanging out in the wagon and maintaining while you figure out what is going on. :goodvibes

Susan, thanks for the popcorn recipe! popcorn:

Jess, hope you are feeling better soon! :flower3:

Kristina, that is a great workout plan! :thumbsup2

Good Morning!! Just a quick hello before heading out to the gym and work. Have a great op day everyone! :goodvibes

You, too, Bicki! :goodvibes

It's an all time favorite Maria question for sure! ::yes::

Today I am Happy because I will be leaving for DLR on Friday! :tink: And by this time next week I will have a beautiful, shiny new medal in my hands.

Congrats on the 4 miles, Michele! :yay:

Liz, enjoy your dinner tonight with DH!

In the excitement of my fall I forgot to mention that I had a big whoosh last week and lost 5.5 pounds! :woohoo: I'm shooting for a maintain this week with all the stress and travelling.

Have a great Monday all!

I am totally feeling Sleepy today. We had a line of storms come through our area last night predicting possible tornados and since my husband had to unexpectedly work 3rd last night(oh the responsibilities of management) I got to stay up and be the weather watcher. We've had tornados come through our area for the past 2 years and do some pretty serious damage so everyone is a little on edge when someone mentions the word tornado. We have been fortunate but it has been devastating to areas very close to us. My children are also on edge about every storm now. Well, since I ran on saturday my break day was yesterday. Meaning today I need to get back on it. We are doing plyometrics from P90X this afternoon. It is a massive workout but fun. I'm enjoying running and loving my ipod. I need to add some more tunes so it won't become stagnant. I'm trying to come up with more ideas for inspiring running songs, any suggestions?

Lisa -- how exciting!! i'd be Happy too!!

QOTD -- i guess i'm feeling more like Bashful today -- anti-social just wanting to be a hermit, i'm even avoiding replying to emails, what is up with this? though I was tempted to piggy-back on the Dopey claim, as i was a bit Dopey too this past week!

you all have motivated and inspired me to go do my WATP :thanks:

My mother has to take a break from us. She says her ears hurt. :rotfl2:

I posted a slight loss for the week. I'm following Lisa's (and others who are escaping me now) advice. A loss is a loss. I'm not sure how this week will end up, but tomorrow is a new day. The hard part with today is that I wasn't at home. I suggested bringing food and my parents vetoed that.
:lmao: That is great that you have family you get a long with so well. That is one thing that I really wish that I and my kids could have but just don't. Didn't have any cousins close enough in age or distance myself, and my kids have no cousins and never will :(

Great Attitude! I am losing a pound a week and I have to keep telling myself that is the best thing for me. Sure would like it to be at least 2 but slow and steady wins the race.

What would happen if you just quietly packed a lunch bag of food for snacks and maybe a healthy meal option "just in case" and took it with you when you left the house to go to something like this? Sometimes I prefer to ask forgiveness rather than permission :rolleyes1

well it's official, i'm struggling and dangling my foot off the wagon....sigh

i'm grumpy today and i'm sure my family will attest to that. my endocrinologist wants me to 're-test' to see if I have active Cushing's right now and his preferred test is a midnight blood draw. it's cold and wet here and i really don't want to do these! i set myself up for everynight through the end of the month, God willing if this is truly what is going on that it will show itself and i won't have to go everyday for the next 10 nights.

i'm born, raised, and still an Ohio-ian. here is our best known native treat -- buckeye candy
i made 400 of those darlings at christmastime...it was crazy and tedious! otherwise i think we eat normal mid-western foods:

alright -- i did not workout at all last week, this week i pledge 3 workouts and better food journaling
:flower3: Reach out and take the flower and grab my hand so I pull you back up and hold you here.

How in the heck do you do a midnight blood draw? I assume you have to go to the hospital late at night? That doesn't sound like fun. But maybe knowing the answer for sure does make it worth it?

I am from Illinois and so I should have an aversion to Buckeyes;) but man I LOVE those things! My mom used make them and I hadn't had them in years but someone brought them to the New Years Eve party that I went to and they were so good. My saving grace was that apparently whoever brought them left early and took the rest of them home.

I can at least fit in them without getting an instant UTI.
:lmao::rotfl2: I so know that feeling!

I took a fall in the driveway on Thursday and banged up my ribs. No fracture on the xray so I am still hopeful for the Tinker Bell next week-end.
OUCH! How are the ribs feeling?

WOOHOO!!!!!

I just got our June 2010 album kitted, I hope to start assembling pages tomorrow.
I wish I could do kits-- any time I try to do that by the time I get to the pages to put them together I look at the papers and say to myself "WTH was I thinking when I choose that?", or I decide that I need something more or different. :headache:

Can't remember if I have asked you this: Have you ever tried nasal saline rinses? They are gross and nasty but I really have found them to be helpful. You might ask your dr about if it might help? I hope you get feeling better quick!

Today I am Happy because I will be leaving for DLR on Friday! :tink: And by this time next week I will have a beautiful, shiny new medal in my hands.

I had typed this in the last post but it was so long I decided that maybe I should put it separate so those not interested can easily skip over it! Pamela and I also had a Meal Planning thread here on the WISH boards last year. I need to see if I can find it an bump it. It is really great to see what others are planning and maybe even get some new ideas to add to your plan.

If anyone has good dinner planning strategies, please feel free to let me know! (and I'm new so if I've hijacked an earlier discussion, I apologize - I only readthru the last 5 pages!! :rolleyes1)
I am the opposite-- I do well planning meals but suck at planning exercise! My advice is that you have to wear your Nike and Just Do It. You have to just commit to sitting down and making a plan and the first time will take longer than it will after you have it organized. What I suggest is that you start by making a list of ALL the meals that you usually make-- anything and everything that your family will eat. Obviously you want to focus on the healthy stuff but you can also add in the not so healthy. Then I took my list and separated it by protein type-- Beef, chicken and pork for us (we don't eat seafood). You can also further break it down into prep type/amount of time it takes to cook. Then get a calendar-- I make my own in World just by making a Table with 7 blocks across and 4 blocks down, but you have to see what works for you. You can also search for free printable calenders, buy a calender or look for free menu planning calenders.

Start by putting the kids activities in, all meetings etc so you can see what block of time you have to cook and eat. Then look at your Master list and see what you can make that will fit into that schedule and write it down for that day. I try to alternate between beef and chicken because my family doesn't like chicken so much so they would revolt if we had to several days in a row. Then you can add in your plan for Breakfast, lunch and snacks. I find it easiest to figure out dinner first since it involves the whole family. Around here Breakfast, lunch and snacks are all done on our own. I don't actually write those down for myself any more but when I did WW points I had everything planned out so I knew I was going to be within my points for the day. Because I usually have a pretty good idea of our schedules several weeks out I try to plan for a minimum of 2 weeks at a time and sometimes have even gone as far as planning for 2 months at a time.

I keep a list of "emergency meals" that I don't include on the plan most of the time because they usually end up getting thrown in anyway! Things like Spaghetti, hamburgers, quick and easy soups, salad, pizza-- the things that my family can throw together without any prior planning. Very helpful when the day ends up not as planned or you forgot to thaw the meat or buy the ingredients. Once you have your plan the most important thing is to BE FLEXIBLE! Be willing to swap out something for a different day because sometimes it just isn't possible to stick with what you planned. At this point I actually don't even put a date on my plan. I put it in the order that I like and try to stick with it but if we skip a planned day by having an emergency meal or going out then I can just pick right back up the next day, or I can switch one meal out for another if I feel like it.

Here is a link to earlier in the thread when I posted my meal plans: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=43691441&postcount=645 We are just now at the end of that plan and I have 2 meals planned for this week and want to sit down and make a plan for the next month.

AWESOME WORKOUT PLAN!!! Way to go!

Lisah0711 I hope your runs go well this week and there is no pain or anything. Maybe even wrap the ribs with an ace bandage for support. Or wear some compression type clothing. pixiedust: to a great run with no pain!!

And finally :wave2:

Have I mentioned here that I like to talk? :confused3 :lmao:

Need to get moving, my stomach is starting to growl for lunch. I did my WATP this morning and had a cup of coffee with Truvia and Low Fat Coffee Mate. It wasn't as amazing as my usual coffee but it wasn't bad and by making the switch I cut:
100 calories
24g sugar
4 g fat
16 carbs

In just ONE cup of coffee. :scared1:

Just Another Magic Monday pixiedust: QOTD: Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It’s Off to Lose Weight We Go! Happy, Grumpy, Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Sleepy, and Sneezy – which Dwarf are you feeling like today and why?

Forgive me for recyling, I came up with this QOTD a few Challenges ago, and I'm fond of it!
Great Question!
I would say I am feeling a bit of Happy and a bit of Doc today. I was definitely Grumpy yesterday but feeling much better and Happy today. I have to go and be intelligent and thoughtful like Doc this afternoon because at 2 I meet with DD16's guidance counselor to work out her classes for next year. I swear I am not a helicopter mom! I am pretty sure my mother never had any input into my schedule but DD's school sends a letter and email to every parent asking them to schedule a time to come in. They are very big on parent involvement. Then I am taking DD11 to see my gyno to discuss her cramping problems and see if there are any solutions, short of the pill. Since it is so bad that it is affecting her ability to function for several days out of the month we need to do something.

Gotta run and get a salad made. Don't forget to get your weight sent in and have a great ON PLAN day!:cheer2:
