Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

Sunday QOTD: The Super Bowl is two weeks from today! :cheer2: Don't let it sneak up on you! Do you have special plans for food or a party? Will you have temptations? Do you have a plan to make sure you end up a Champion?

Thanks to Lisah, who pointed out my error in the SB date! Whoops! Guess I'm a little too excited!

Maria :upsidedow

I guess it depends who wins today.... If the Giants :cheer2::cheer2:win it will be a bigger deal that if the 49ers win.:scared1:
The bigger the deal the more elaborate I get with dinner... If its the 49ers vs. whomever then it will be regular Sunday pasta.
My husband normally works on Sundays but he was saying something about taking the day off :rolleyes1. So if he's off it won't be too bad for me, since he will help with the cooking. IF the Giants win I might make chili or sliders. We normally don't have guests over so the worst I could do is over indulge in chips and snacks. So I plan on make sure I have baked tortillas and no beer for me... strictly seltzer. ;)

Good morning TEAM MICKEY! :smickey:

Trying to do a little catching up here. :goodvibes

Thank you, Maria, for coaching this week and a big, BL thank you to Michele for coaching last week! You ladies rock! :rockband:

Saturday QOTD: Let’s hear from all the fine states and countries we represent! Tell us where you live – are you a native, or a transplant? Is there a meal or food item is a specialty in your region? Is it considered “healthy”? Is there a way you could adapt it to make it more user-friendly?

I live in Idaho so I bet you think I'm going to talk about potatoes . . . but nope, I live in the northern part of the state so no potatoes. ;) But a regional treat here is huckleberries
blue_huckleberries-jpg.jpeg

Huckleberries are related to blueberries but a bit more tart. On their own, they are healthy, it's the putting them in ice cream, syrup, or muffins that makes them not so good for you. :rolleyes1

Linda, thanks for asking about the storm here. :flower3: It was a doozy. Hope you are all doing okay and your DH doesn't have to try to drive the passes until things get a bit better. :flower3: I took a fall in the driveway on Thursday and banged up my ribs. No fracture on the xray so I am still hopeful for the Tinker Bell next week-end.

Ok, born & bred in New Jersey. We have a few specialties. Not really able to clean them up nutrition-wise...

Michele, it was a lot of fun reading about all your regional specialties! Great answer! :thumbsup2

I just wish the cellulite would find somewhere else to go!

:lmao: Don't we all! ::yes::

Its -7 here in Duluth, MN (-10 at my house) and according to the Weather Channel it feels like -19, and I am supposed to be out on an 8 mile training run. I have put it off until this afternoon or tomorrow morning. I am hoping it gets warmer! 15 would be good, 20 would be great, and 30 would be just awesome! Doing 8 miles on a treadmill sounds just horrible to me, but I will do it tomorrow afternoon if it comes to that!

Brrrr! :cold: Be careful out there! :flower3: The weather in Anaheim is looking pretty good for later this week!

I have made a major diet decision-- I think I need to cut the coffee :scared1: :sad1: I can't drink coffee without cream and sugar and it just isn't worth it if I use ff and/or sf creamer. I just don't like the fake stuff and would rather go without. So I am going to cut all coffee during the week and have hot tea instead, and have coffee in the morning on the weekends. I am really not a coffee "addict", and I won't have withdrawal issues-- I just love the comfort and taste of a hot cup of coffee with my favorite creamer to start my day. But it is adding a lot of sugar and fat. I am losing but I think it is making it harder. I actually went without coffee for most of Nov and Dec because of my IBS so it won't be too bad.

LTS good job saying farewell to coffee for now. :thumbsup2 I wonder if you can find a tea that has a similar flavor to the creamer or something that you will enjoy just as much? I like Melinda's idea of having it once a week, too. You can do it! ::yes::

Hello! So... this week turned out to be a HOT MESS!!! Everything went downhill after Tuesday. I was expecting this week to be crazy because the first week of a new routine is always a bit crazy but I didn't expect it to be so bad. First off I'm still trying to shake off that cold that I got last week. So a I still have a stuffy nose and have some congestion.

Bicki, hope that you are feeling like yourself again this week. :flower3: I'm impressed you resisted the siren's call of the treats even with your crazy week! :thumbsup2

Susan, glad the two pounds left as quickly as they came! ::yes::

QOTD: I live in Connecticut and was born in New Hampshire. Some of the New England foods are seafood (lobster rolls), fudge, apple pies and anything else with apples, cheese/milk products like Vermont cheddar, and Ben & Jerry's.

I've never had a lob-stah roll but I've heard they are to die for! ;)

BRB with some more replies.

Debbie, thanks for sharing your regional foods! :goodvibes I've always wondering what the heck poutine was. :rotfl: The beavertails look yummy! :thumbsup2

Kristina, the Disboards are pokey today for sure. ::yes::

cruisecrasher, sorry about the bad day. Hope today is better! :flower3

lovehoney, what is a chicken tinga? I love Tex Mex.

Tracey, I bet you are not the only one sporting a Patriots jersey at church today! ;)

Sunday QOTD: The Super Bowl is two weeks from today! :cheer2: Don't let it sneak up on you! Do you have special plans for food or a party? Will you have temptations? Do you have a plan to make sure you end up a Champion?

Thanks for the reminder that it is time to start thinking of a plan for the big game. I usually try to limit the chips and dips and emphasize the veggie tray. I've tried skipping the treats but that doesn't work for me -- eat too much other stuff before succumbing to the treats anyway. :sad2:

Have a great day all! :goodvibes

:wave2:

I have to share my accomplishment from yesterday. While I call myself a scrapbooker, I am really more of a "collector of scrapbooking stuff" :rolleyes1. I love to buy it, and then I put it on my shelves and admire it and hope to use it someday. :rotfl: I actually don't work on pages as often as I really should, and it is usually because I am just wasting time doing stupid stuff :surfweb: . So this may not seem like a big deal to some but. . .
I FINISHED MY FIRST DISNEY TRIP ALBUM!
From our first trip in 2003. I have worked on it on and off over the last few years, and my goal for the crop on Friday and this weekend was to get it completed. I am so happy to have it done and love how it turned out. Now as DD16 pointed out, only 7 more Disney trips and 2 cruises to go! (isn't she just a ray of sunshine )

I am working on finishing the album from the cruise DH and took with the girls. I have to do titles and journaling for about 10 pages.

Hoping for a quiet day here. So far today I have slept in until almost 10, broke a glass bowl and accomplished nothing except getting the kitchen floor thoroughly vacuumed by DH to get up all the glass. I was making breakfast before I made my coffee which I usually don't do-- usually have at least half a cup before I start breakfast-- and the bowl just slipped out of my hand as I was getting it out of the dishwasher. :headache: Then somehow when I went to make my coffee I got it all set up, walked away and forgot to push the button. Maybe my idea to give up coffee isn't such a great one!:rotfl: I told my daughter that I made need supervision all day today!

Last night DH was supposed to cook but he wasn't feeling well. He has strained something in his back. So we had to come up with a different plan and DD suggested the white chicken chili that I posted here a few weeks ago. We threw that together and she made cornbread. I don't really like cornbread (at least not the Jiffy mix we use) so I usually skip it even when not following a restricted carb woe and planned to just have one slice of french bread. Well for some reason that cornbread came out really good and after I had "just a taste" I ended up eating an entire piece.:rolleyes1 And I also had 2 pieces of french bread.:headache: Not a good on plan decision.

Not sure what we will do for dinner tonight. DH is still not feeling great and my girls will eat dinner at church. May just have leftover chili-- without the bread!

University of Illinois -- Springfield, my Masters is in Public History.
:yay: Another Illini!

Sunday QOTD: The Super Bowl is two weeks from today! :cheer2: Don't let it sneak up on you! Do you have special plans for food or a party? Will you have temptations? Do you have a plan to make sure you end up a Champion?
Superbowl is no big deal to me. DH will watch it up in his man cave. I usually buy him a bag of Doritos and make sure he has some beer but that doesn't affect me.

Ohhh, all those regional food specialties had me salivating over my keyboard!! DH and I had date night Friday night at our favorite place, and it was delicious. I had arctic char with sauteed spinach and pearl couscous, two glasses of wine, two glasses of water, and my beloved dark chocolate torta palla. By my estimations, I used 15 of my weekly WW points allowance beyond my daily target. It registered the next morning, probably because of the extra wine :), but I worked out Saturday morning and am not too worried about it sticking!

Yesterday was another challenge, with a girlfriend coming over in the evening for a movie night. We planned well, though, and had wine, strawberries (with brown sugar for dipping), cheese (that we measured!), and a serving each of those amazing dark chocolate covered acai blueberries you can get at BJs and Costco. It helps to hang out with someone else who's on the same program you are... :)

I can't wait! We host a SB party every year - this goes back to my single days. This is year 16 (or SuperBowl Party XVI), and I'm excited. As the hostess, I almost never have time to eat as much as I think I will, and I think this year I'm just going to set aside a plate for myself with points tallied as well as one bottle of cider or hard lemonade and then switch to Diet Coke when it's all gone.

This year could be especially fun as both of my favorite teams are still in it! I grew up in CT, where it's allowed to love both the Patriots and the Giants (just not the Patriots and the Jets - of course!), and I'm giddy at the thought of them playing in the SB again.

Now I'm off to get a workout in so I can "earn" my couch time this afternoon for the football games! (Except for cooking dinner, of course - I'm trying a new vegetarian recipe tonight - a "meat"loaf made with lentils...).

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

XO

Congratulations on getting it done! That's an accomplishment! I dont even know where pictures from our first trips are!!! OMG. I'd love to look back through them now!

Afternoon ::MickeyMo!

Yesterday I spent most of the day getting Disney stuff in order. I've got everything booked for this weekend, in May, and booked for my birthday in November. Then I spent about 2 hours looking at menus and finding healthy choices for my trip in May with my bestie. I priced everything and it looks like I won't be going to crazy with $ on food. I orginally wasn't going to get the basic dining plan but after pricing everything it makes sense to just spend the extra money (wasn't much of a difference between having it and not having it) and purchase it. I'll use the snack credits for part of my breakfast. I noticed the mods have fridges in them so I'll bring a 6 pack of yogurt from home with me. Then I'll get a banana or something small to round out my breakfast. We'll do counter service for lunch and table servies for dinner.

I have all the table services booked which I didn't even realize I had done. I was on the phone talking with bestie and went to get on the dining website and was pleasantly surprised when it was already completed . My guess is I did it around the time we were doing all the moving stuff and I had completely forgotten.

Our table services are:

Cap'n Jacks at DTD (bestie's fave)
Mama Melrose at HS
Ohanas (DROOOL)
Rainforest Cafe (at AK)
Maya Grill (at Coronado Springs)
Tony's (MK)
Planet Hollywood

The only thing left to figure out is counter service meals for whatever meal that we don't have a TS for. I know it sounds like a lot of work but I have to keep myself from gaining all this weight back . The last time bestie and I went to Disney (4 days) I gained 4 pounds! Yeah, I can't do that again...

I woke up really late today because I was up watching tv and lost track of time. I've showered, threw some laundry in, and eating lunch at the moment. Alan is making cornish hens, potatoes in some form, and brocolli and cheese for dinner.

I have a BL kinect workout today and that's probably all I'll do. I'll get most of my working out done at Disney with all the walking :). So, I'm taking it slow between now and then.

OMG! I am so pissed off. DD16 went and asked DH to make popcorn for snack. First of all he isn't feeling well and can barely walk so she shouldn't be asking him for anything and 2nd she didn't ask me first, which she should have done (and she and DH both know that). And I would have told her NO! Popcorn is one of my huge weaknesses and I am not having a good day so it was the last thing that I need to be smelling in my house. I didn't realize what was going on until too late. And in addition I was in the process of making roasted beans and going to make a salad. Now my entire kitchen smells like a popcorn popper and I don't want to go in there. My sb room is the "formal Dining room" so right by the kitchen. I have shut the door and I banished the kids to the other side of the house to eat it. There are some compromises that have to be made and I do make A LOT of them by cooking things that they like that are not on plan for me. This was past my limit. :furious:

OH NOOO! Ugh sorry =/ Maybe you need to remind them about those compromises, families have a tendency to forgot :rolleyes1 Also hope your DH feels better soon!

Good morning TEAM MICKEY! :smickey:
Bicki, hope that you are feeling like yourself again this week. :flower3: I'm impressed you resisted the siren's call of the treats even with your crazy week! :thumbsup2

I hope so too... I will be going back to the gym so I'm hoping that there will be a loss on the scale on Friday I would be happy with 1lb.

Okay, my tantrum is over. I did have a little chocolate to get me over it. :rolleyes1

Went to take DD to church and then stopped by the grocery store to pick up some Truvia --Bless you RutgersAlum!!! Just tried it in a cup of tea because I do like a little sugar in my hot tea and it is wonderful! I am going to try it in my coffee in the morning with some fat free half and half or milk and see if that works. Since I love my French Vanilla creamer maybe I can go backwards-- French Vanilla coffee with the Truvia and fat free creamer. I have a feeling me and Truvia are going to become good friends! I also bought some Agave, I have some recipes that use it and I have been wanting to try it.

LisaH-sorry you fell in that nasty storm. Hope your ribs are feeling better--a very gentle  for you!

LTS-sorry about the popcorn. I was laughing my head off about your scrapbooking material collection comments! Great job getting a trip finished!!! :cool1: If it makes you feel any better, DS2's baby book is nothing but scribbles on scraps of papers in a drawer and DS1's book stops at about 9 months old. They are in high school. I've completed 1 book from 4 trips to WDW. I keep thinking DS1 will graduate and move out and I can take over his room! :hippie:

Not doing too well eating or exercising today. Plan to do some yoga, lift some weights and do some crunches--but later. ;) Still need to plan dinner, but DS2 won't be home so not feeling like doing it. Sure DS1 and DH will want something though!

Have a great week Mickeys!

We don't do "the big game" so no plans for me!
We are watching the Bruins play though, Weird day against the Flyers. I've got it rewound so I have no idea who wins, but right now the Bruins are up 3-2.

:wave2:

I FINISHED MY FIRST DISNEY TRIP ALBUM!

WOOHOO!!!!!

I just got our June 2010 album kitted, I hope to start assembling pages tomorrow.

Hi everyone.
I'm new to team Mickey - I'm not sure I'll be able to get through all the posts! :rolleyes1 But I'll keep up from today forward....:goodvibes

Uh-oh...need to figure out how to change the trip ticket aon the bottom of my signature....:confused3

:welcome: There is a FAQ thread and Video Tutorial thread on the Welcome board with a lot of instructions on signatures and posting tickers and photos. Let me know if I can help with anything specific.

We just finished up dinner. I turned on www.d-cot.com and we listened to "Spectromagic" while we ate dinner. Now I'm waiting for my food to settle and I'll have a thing of yogurt and a fudge bar for dessert. Yes I know weird combo,.

Then I'm going to get my kinect routine in, fold a load of laundry, and probably head to bed. Everyone have a great OP day tomorrow!

Lisah I hope your ribs are ok and you have no pain! Are you planning a run this week? Maybe wear something tight on your core for support!!
