Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

Have you ever tried EmergenC? I just discovered it and I love it. My trainer drinks it. You mix it in your water. I just got the Blueberry kind. It has extra Vitamin D in it- great for the winter months when we don't get much Vit D from the sun. It really seems to help people ward off colds, or make them not last as long. Plus its virtually no calories (I think 10 calories per packet).

I have actually, but completely forgot about it. I will pick some up. Thanks! :)

QOTD: WHY is your goal weight your goal weight? do you have a magic number? or do you want to lose enough to fit back into your "skinny" jeans? is the number you've chosen in the healthy BMI range?[/COLOR]

Right now, my goal is to be in at a healthy BMI. That is 130 or less. The thing is, at my height, I can be 100 pounds and be at a healthy BMI. I'd like to be closer to 115, but 120 would be great.

slept til noon? oh go ahead, rub it in ;) just kidding. i hope you feel better!

;) Thanks! I felt great today. No idea why I felt so miserable yesterday. :confused3

it is called Le Goodwill. ;)

OMG! :rotfl2: I'm sorry. That had me cracking up. :rotfl2:

Ugghh! Been sick all week, just a cold but yuck. No energy but still hungry. How does that work? I'm definitely not one of those people who lose weight when they are sick. I pretty much have eaten soup and toast the last 2 days and today doesn't seem like it is going to be any different. Oh well...right now I just wish I could sleep....but I can't because my nose is all stuffed up.

I hope everyone on Team Mickey is having a much better week than I am.

Feel better! :goodvibes

I'm having a kind of bad one too and to top it off forgot my prozac that night--all day yesterday was irritated--finally took a midol lol--it helped.

I took Tylenol. I really think I messed up and forgot a med. That is not like me at all. I need to slow down when I'm doing important things like that. :goodvibes

I tracked EVERYTHING yesterday (and expected a bad day since I didn't sleep the night before) but did well and ended with some left over calories (thanks to a late trip to the Y).

:thumbsup2

I'm cclovesdis on my fitness pal.

Today ended up being a very productive day. I meet with someone at the unemployment/job search center and now have a career counselor. I'll meet with her individually next week. I'm very excited about this and feeling much more optimistic! :cool1:

The place also has this cool computer center that has programs to help you improve some skills. I spent a good amount of time working on my typing. I thought I was a great typer in 4th grade, but some extra practice was great for me. I'll be doing that when I go back next week. There will also be a job fair late next week and I will go to that as well. I'm feeling good about things right now. :)

I went to 2 grocery stores today and still feel like we need more food in the fridge and pantry. I don't know if it's because of being GF or not, but I feel like I have so few options. I did find a product called "corn thins." They are basically like rice cakes, but thins like sandwich rounds. A 2 "thin" serving is 44 calories and they work well as bread! They also have a better shelf life than bread so I can mix things up too.

Dinner tonight was tacos. I was good about limiting my carbs and I had plenty of veggies, so overall not too bad. I would have drained the ground sirloin more and not fried the peppers, but dad was cooking and I can only argue so much (especially when I'm not home ;)).

My GI doctor's assistant called today. He wants me to take a med that seems to have more side effects than I have symptoms. I'm also confused because she did not seem to know anything about my allergy testing and wheat allergy. I've decided to insist upon speaking with my GI doctor himself before taking this med. I doubt he will have any issue with that. He is very good and knows that I take taking meds seriously. :thumbsup2

Well, I'm off to spend some time job searching. I've done that once today, but I like to use every opportunity possible to work on finding a job.

Have a great, OP day tomorrow everyone!

QOTD: I would love to get down to 100, but I haven't been there since freshman year of college. I plan to get down to 125 and re-evaluate. Honestly, I would love to get back down to the 99 so I am in the double digits again, but I doubt that will happen.

QOTD: I would like to get between 140 and 145 which is where I was at Christmas last year. I just felt great and fit into a size 6 and close I hadn't worn in 14 years! The Wii says that my ideal weight is 136.9 but that just is too low and I doubt I could ever reach that.

Heading to bed for a nap as I have to get up at midnight to let our baby-sitter for the morning in and then up again at 3:30 to finish getting ready for the trip to the airport. I just finished sending the to do list to Brian for the next two days and I need to write something up for the sitter for the morning.

Won't get to post again until Saturday!

TTFN :tigger:

QOTD: WHY is your goal weight your goal weight? do you have a magic number? or do you want to lose enough to fit back into your "skinny" jeans? is the number you've chosen in the healthy BMI range?

The top of my healthy BMI range is 159. I'd like to get to 145, which is thinner than I was in high school, but just barely. Not sure if it's possible, but I never could go under 150 in school no matter how hard I tried. However, I made very poor choices with weight loss back then so I want to try it the healthy way. I'd also like to be in the single digits sizes, just for fun. I can squeeze(very snugly) into size 10 jeans now, so I think another 20 pounds should do it(hopefully).

Google search "Couch to 5K" sometimes written as C25K. There are lots of free versions of it online. Its a great program that starts with walking, then 30 seconds of jogging and back to walking. Its a 3 day a week program. Then when you see if you like it after the first week, look around for some local 5K's you might be able to join after your C25K program is over (8--12 weeks are most programs, I think.

I started walk/running then run/ walking and now I run!

I signed up for a half marathon and trained using the plan Marathoning for Mortals by John Bingham. It was great! I really eases you in to it a little at a time. I always HATED running and never thought I would actually run. Now I like the running part of my training more than the walking. Using his plans, I was able to run/walk the Goofy marathon a couple of years ago!

Now I run a mile/walk a minute. It works great for me.

I do find though, that I really need to have a race on the calendar to motivate me to train. Halfs are probably my favorite. I try to go to a different city each time. I do like the occasional full to challenge myself. But I don't enjoy those as much.

Check out Marathoning for Mortals, and just put one foot in front of the other. You will be amazed at how quickly your body adapts.

I used this to start my walking/running a few years ago. It's gotten me through too many 5K's to remember, two half marathons (one Disney) and a full marathon (Disney)! NEVER in my life did I think I could accomplish any of that. Now that I'm 50# less, I haven't run since May and I'm getting the 'itch' to get back at it (I work out 5-6 days a week, just not running any longer). It's a great program and makes it so easy to stick with.

This is awesome - thanks, ladies! I want to have a plan in place for when it starts warming up outside so that I don't have any excuses not to get going. :) I looked into the C25K sites and downloaded an app, and I'll do some reading and researching about the program before spring. I'm hoping it'll be a good next step for me - I tend to get into workout ruts, and this is definitely outside my comfort zone!

XO

My 'goal' (ultimate, not the one I'm shooting for right now) is the high end of my 'normal' weight for my height. I've gone from being morbidly obese, to obese, to now just overweight. I want to get to the 'normal' range. But my goal for this challenge is to get 1/2 way there.

When I lost a lot of weight, I plateaued at 170. I got discouraged (even though I felt good), and ended up putting it all back on again. I'd love to be 170 again.

I started this in October at 178 and am now 166.2 years ago I was over 200:headache: I shouldn't plateau for some time and I'm hoping it's closer to the 130 mark than 150:rotfl:

Checking in again... drank a bit more water and made it to the gym for Zumba after all!

I REALLY wanted to skip and try playing Just Dance 3.. but I was afraid I wouldn't burn enough calories!

Anyone on here use Just Dance or Zumba for the Kinect?? What are your thoughts?

Just joined today - sorry I'm late. I was at WDW until Sunday!:cool1: We had a great time but I gained 5 lbs back that I lost in the BL Fall Challenge.

I'm so ready to get back on track.

Welcome! I joined yesterday, too.

Yesterday was great even with DH birthday dinner at Red Lobster, I stayed in my goals. (And drank plenty of water.)
Felt kinda guilty after cause Ben got a stomachache (over eating) and I'm pretty sure easily ate more at dinner than I did all day.
I think I'll try BodyFlow or BodyPump at the Y today.

Hi just wanted to wish you all good luck for your weigh-ins tomorrow:)
Hopefully both teams will have another great result:thumbsup2

GOOD MORNING MY LOVELY LOSERS!!!

this is how i'm feeling today, right before our big weigh in:

scale.jpg

gah! you know those mornings when you think you FOR SURE should be lighter than the day before but then you step on the scale and you're UP?? yeah, that's me. i even did a DOUBLE workout yesterday! hrrrmph. i ran 2 miles in the afternoon and then went to step aerobics in the evening. i'll just have to really watch my salt intake and drinks lots of water and hope that i'm just retaining water.

i don't know what it's like outside for you but here in the bronx it's NASTY out. hard and cold rainfall. makes me wish i was in my happy place. and not only in my happy place but ALONE in my happy place free to do what i want. so, in a spinoff of maria's "poofing" QOTDs:

QOTD: POOF! :wizard: you're in Disney! Alone! No kids, work, pets, responsibilities! What SPECIAL event, show, tour, spa, little extra Disney thing would you like to do right now. Since you're alone you'll have plennnnty to time to ride whatever rides you want (did I mention there aren't any lines??) so what's that little somethin' somethin' extra you'd like to do?

as i look out into the dark and rainy sky i can't help but want to be whisked down to The Land pavilion (passing Gretchen as i go through the entrance) and over to the Behind the Seeds tour. there's is something about those mickey-shaped pumpkins that you see while on the Living with the Land ride that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. now, i'd really like to say i want to do the Wishes Dessert Party but i'm not sure that's allowed on the biggest loser forum :rolleyes1

have a great day everyone! sadly, poof! :wizard: you're back home. now make good decisions!

Hmmm...I think I'll go for a spa day...mani/pedi and massage. Then I'd like sometime to go just walk around and enjoy looking at the beautiful empty parks!

I love the cartoon!
Sorry about the scale wars. The daily weighing certainly has it's ups and downs. Our bodies are just weird sometimes. Weekly weighing gives me a better idea of where I'm really at.

Although, it is kind of cool when you are sure you gained 10 pounds and you've actually lost!:cool1:

QOTD - excellent question! It truly put me right there!

Mine is a bit different though. I would be on main street holding hands with my kids, surrounded by my husband, mom, dad and brother! We would just walk and look and the memories would come flooding in. And then we would just go crazy riding all of the rides we loved as kids and now as adults! What a happy, happy thought!:cloud9:

Back to reality. sigh.... :sad1:

Oh well... today is going to be a GREAT day!

Thanks for the QOTD and lets hope the scale reflects your hard work on weigh in day!

I would love to do the backstage magic tour so that would be my choice - whilst I love going to Disney with DH (and the not so kids) part of me would love to go alone so I could totally please myself.

I gave up daily weighing and now try to limit myself to just once a week (or twice if I am tempted).

Hi all,

Life is getting in the way of my Dis-ing! Been running around all day getting ready to head to NC tomorrow. And wouldn't you know we are having snow overnight so the drive to Manchester should be fun. I'm packing very few things but my parents have a ton of stuff so this will be interesting! Going to pack as much as we can in the car tonight and then we may have to put stuff on top of the car when we leave.

I'm hanging steady from last Friday. I'll probably do my weigh in tomorrow morning or wait until Sunday after I'm home. My workouts start again on Sunday. Of course we are going out to eat either tomorrow night or Friday and we are having pizza tonight. Just can't deal with cooking tonight. I still have to make the list for Brian of where he needs to be and when for the next two days and print out our boarding passes. Hoping to not check a bag coming back.

Gotta take Ash to the library for a teen event in a few minutes and mail one more package to NC that we can't fit in the car.

TTFN :tigger:

Have a safe trip! :wizard:

Thanks for the encouragement! I downloaded the couch to 5K app, and plan on starting that at some point.. I think I need to mentally prep a bit more :D Good idea about marking the date though!!

I'm not really sure when I got fixated with the number I chose, but I thin it is because it sounds skinny! Honestly though, anything under 150 and I'll be over the moon happy! I honest to god can not remember ever weighing less than 150! I'm smitten to be under 170 right now!

Congrats on the weight loss! WTG!

QOTD: Ideal weight:
I would like to be around 135 - 140. The BMI calculator is saying that my ideal weight is 127 - 100 pounds, UM HECK NO! I was at 135 when I got married in 2005 and I looked and felt incredible. I was in a size 9/10 depending on what I was wearing. So that's what I'm shooting for.

I glanced through replies but I'll be back to reread them. We're watching a few episodes of Royal Pains right now. Then I need to get on the treadmill and get some milage in, its raining outside.

Dinner is hamburger noodle casserole with a side salad or brocolli and cheese
Dessert: Blue Bunny fudge ar.

I just drank a protein shake to get some extra nutrient in me. I'm noticing that I'm not getting enough fiber in my diet. Any ideas or suggestions?

Good goal setting!

Check out Marathoning for Mortals, and just put one foot in front of the other. You will be amazed at how quickly your body adapts.

I've got to check out that book. I feel like I am so slow, and putting out a lot of effort. I am SO NOT A RUNNER! I really hope losing weight will help me become faster. I have his other book- something about a penguin I think? I like how he writes. What do you feel was the best thing you did to get faster and able to run more than walk? I did 5 miles of run 5 mins walk 1 min yesterday, and i was just so slow (like 17:00 mile). Usually I can stay in the 15's/16/s anyway.

I used this to start my walking/running a few years ago. It's gotten me through too many 5K's to remember, two half marathons (one Disney) and a full marathon (Disney)! NEVER in my life did I think I could accomplish any of that. All this diet and exercise is cutting into my DISigning!
So I thought this up during my morning run:

Awesome on the job search! I hope you find something you love! And I can totally commiserate on the going to 2 grocery stores and still feeling like you don't have something you need. I do that all the time. I just like options at home, so I feel satisfied with what I choose and not deprived.

QOTD: I would like to get between 140 and 145 which is where I was at Christmas last year. I just felt great and fit into a size 6 and close I hadn't worn in 14 years! The Wii says that my ideal weight is 136.9 but that just is too low and I doubt I could ever reach that.

GOOD MORNING MY LOVELY LOSERS!!!

Wow! What a great thing to imagine! GREAT QOTD!! You are doing a great job leading! If I were alone in Disney World, I would love to take the time to just browse each and every shop. I never get to do that with the family. Just look at all the trinkets, even all the stuff I would never buy, but just look at it and just relax and experience it all!

I would love to do the backstage magic tour so that would be my choice - whilst I love going to Disney with DH (and the not so kids) part of me would love to go alone so I could totally please myself.

I gave up daily weighing and now try to limit myself to just once a week (or twice if I am tempted).

WTG on the weighing. I started weighing myself multiple times a day, and now I'm down to once first thing in the mornings.

Do any of you use the app RunKeeper? Its for the iphone and droid phones, and you can use it online. I love it! I track all my workouts in it. It has capability for running, cycling, walking, and even an "other" feature where you can put in things like Wii games, or lifting weights. You can add me if you want,ww Melinda Marble - I think it goes by full name.

Also, are any of you vegeterian? I have been for a long time. I find it hard to get the protein I need with all this working out. Anyone have any tips for that or have vegeterian WW or "diet" recipes they would like to share? I'm making LTS's garbanzo or black beans today!! Woo hoo!:cool1:
