Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

QOTD: We too went to the zoo (the Kansas City Zoo) and it was amazing! We then went to the Seasons 52 that opened in the Country Club Plaza in KC. This was one of my favorite restaurants in Orlando. The menu completely changes every season and they have dishes that rotate out every week so that everything is prepared using fresh, seasonl ingredients. Hence the name. Everything is under 475 calories, and they were the ones that started the mini dessert craze. I was so happy when I drove by it on the way to the doctor as I had wanted to go to one ever since leaving Orlando.

I did have a Happy Meal for lunch ,but I balanced it out with all the walking and a healthier dinner. I was so mad at myself though. After I logged my food in the my system, I went to plug in my armband (similar to a bodybugg, but this one also measures time spent sleeping) and realized I had forgotten to wear it. After all of that walking! You can enter in what you do in off armband time, but I did underestimate it on purpose. I could have kicked myself.

My face looks a lot better today but itches like hell. It physically hurt when we went into the tropics building because the left side where I am having the reaction has been really warm and the building was very hot. The steroids are also making me feel a little funky. I hope it goes away soon.

LTS: I love your user name, but sometimes I read it as Loves to Crap. LOL. My doctor is aware of the reaction as she is the one who called in the methyl dose pack. I just did extensive food allergy testing and I see an ENT next week. I am going to talk to him and also nee to follow up with the integrative doc. I will then see from there if I make an appointment with my physician. I feel like I have been seeing her too often due to the sinus infection/bronchitis issue and I don't want to be the girl that cries wolf. Plus, it's money I have to pay every time I go. I do have an Epi Pen from when I was supposed to get allergy shots, which I haven't been able to do since you are not supposed to get them when you are sick and I have been sick non stop since the beginning of the school year. I need to get it refilled since I cant even find it as it was only precaution for when I get my shots.

QOTD: I haven't done a whole lot today. I went to bed early but was up watching tv. I didn't fall asleep til almost 2am. Then I woke up at 1pm! AHHHH!!

I have had a to do list in front of me for 3 days and have yet to do any of it. So my plan for tomorrow is to get up at a decent hour:

Laundry
Grocery shopping
Book hotel room
Exercise
Time on Disboards
Get meals and exrcise planned out for the new week

I'm sure there's more that needs to be done but that's all off the top of my head. I did get a mile walked today and a Sparkpeople video.

CC -- I'd be more then happy to give you any of the recipes I have. The only thing is I doubt any of them are GF. A few of them are family recipes. :)

Everyone have a great OP day tomorrow. I need to get my butt to bed.

Happy weekend Team Mickey!

I wanted to let you guys know that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. I just finished reading through the last 10 pages of posts, and I'm really impressed by how well everyone is doing. I have a hard time keeping up during the week with work and the kid's activities, but I do read every post, and I'm silently cheering all of you on!

I've had a good week. I got my exercise in every day except Thursday, and I did a good job with portion control. My biggest challenge is getting enough fruits and vegetables in--something I need to work harder on in the coming weeks. I was down 1.6 lbs at the weigh-in--a loss is a loss.

Hugs to those of you who have suffered the loss of loved ones and are working through that. I am impressed with your strength.

Keep up the great work everyone!

EVERYBODY'S Losing FOR THE WEEKEND!!!QOTD: what are you doing this weekend? and how will you incorporate healthy choices into that activity?

Well, I could post what I was supposed to do, but I guess I'll go with the reality instead. I am not doing anything that is overtly healthy this weekend. I spent today in my jammies, feeling a little sorry for myself, and contemplating all the changes I want to make in my life. My food choices were abominable, and although I expect I should feel quite guilty, instead I just feel like it was inevitable.

So, tomorrow will be more of the same. The meals we have planned are not healthy, and no exercise for me, unless you consider a :cheer2: when the playoff team I'm rooting for scores.

On the bright side, I am determined that by Monday, I am going to decide which element of my life I most need to change, and get started. I have so many things I feel I need to work on, I am overwhelmed. Plus, I had a pretty stressful week at work, and I got a few work e-mails today which made it seem like I was not getting a break. When I try to do to much, I just shut down. Literally, I will probably sleep 12 hours tonight. My body just shuts off when I have too much stress. With any luck :shamrock: I will wake up tomorrow, with a plan having come to me. I guess that would be the best thing to get healthy choices started!

...I am not going to comment on some of what has happened on Donald's thread other than to say that I hope we continue with being our smooth sailin' friendly, supportive Mickey selves! :goodvibes

Thanks for all you're doing, and I'm definitely feeling the love from our group! Everyone's been great, and I enjoy reading the posts. Like someone else had said about us being behind that fine feathery friend, if we posted any more, I couldn't keep up. I like that amount of posts, and also know it will level out over time.

I do agree that I want us to kick his fine feathery butt, though! :rolleyes1

Guess who just finished working out a good-looking menu for most of January? Me!!!!!!!!

That is AWESOME! Way to go! :woohoo: Heaven knows I've read enough that I KNOW what to do to lose weight, I just can't apply it or am not disciplined enough to apply it sometimes. Anyway, I know where we eat out most. I'm going to do some pre-planning tomorrow so that if I know we go to a certain restaurant, I know what my options are there. I do think pre-planning is big and will help us all out.

Stay strong, Mickeys!

Putting on my hostess hat here: Please, if you are offended by anything or find the thread disappointing you in any way, please, please PM me.

Nancy brought up a very good point. I am not going to comment on some of what has happened on Donald's thread other than to say that I hope we continue with being our smooth sailin' friendly, supportive Mickey selves! :goodvibes

I haven't looked at the other thread.. I hate that they are having any drama over there. We are all here to support one another, and drama will make those of us who really need help and advice go elsewhere!! Love my mickey team!!!!

QOTD -What are you doing this weekend.

Yesterday was a disaster, it was DH's birthday so we ate (and drank) far too much and we also visited my parents which took my exercise time. Today is better so far, I have walked to church and back and have planned a nice healthy dinner for us all and hope to get in some more exercise once I finish the ironing (a job I hate).

Hope you are all having a good weekend. :thumbsup2

Hello everyone,
It's your friendly weight-keeper here :goodvibes

Weigh-ins have been coming in like crazy, so I don't have much time to post and read replies, but I will respond to a PM if you need me.

My goal is to post on here, so it's easier for some to just click the send a private message link in my name to send your weigh-ins.

People have been doing great and we're off to a wonderful start. Some people have inspired me to kick my butt even more next week, so it's great for me as well.

Right now, Team Donald is in the lead, but not by much. I am still missing weigh-ins from 33 Team Mickey participants and 30 Team Donald participants, so please keep them coming :thumbsup2

You have until Monday night at 7 PM EST to send them to me before I post the week's results.

Have a great Sunday everyone :flower3:

Thank you for all your hard work. :thumbsup2 I appreciate the commitment the Challenge leaders and volunteers put into running both the Mickey & Donald teams.

GOOD MORNING!!!!

everybody neat and pretty? then on with the show!!!!

One more day of the weekend. Sunday. Regroup-day. Plan-ahead-the-week-day. Figure-out-what-worked-and-what-didn't-day. (hopefully)-Make-ahead-some-meals-day.

makes me think of two questions for the day today...

QOTD: How are YOU planning ahead for this week? Grocery shopping? Listing out your meals/snacks? Planning out your workouts?

QOTD (extra): It is SO beneficial to your healthy living lifestyle to have make ahead meals (well, it is for me). What's your favorite make ahead meal? Would you share your recipe?

***********************************

well my friends, it's sunday and the GIANTS are playing today! :woohoo: of course we have plans to go see Thomas the Train at the Bontanical Gardens today at 3. ugh. see, i'm the one person in the world who married a guy who does NOT like sports. so he just doesn't get the whole we-must-watch-this-playoff-game thing. i swear sometimes i'm the man and he's the woman! lol!

gah! baby's freaking out and now i only have one hand to type...

keep on keepin' on my friends!

GOOD MORNING!!!!
QOTD: How are YOU planning ahead for this week? Grocery shopping? Listing out your meals/snacks? Planning out your workouts?
Shopping done on Saturday. Lol, we could never list our meals out. DH cooks alot and likes to wing it. I used to be very organized with all aspects of our lives, then DH started cooking and any lists or schedules for mealtime went out the window. I do plan my work lunches ahead to ensure I stay on plan. Too easy at work to start munching on goodies that are always available.

My fav make ahead is the 'salad in a jar'. Too much work, or I'm too lazy to salad prep every day. Here's the site again with the 'recipe'. :)http://www.salad-in-a-jar.com/skinny-secrets/salad-in-a-jar

So I need some suggestions for supplements.

I take a daily multi-vitamin, but I'm curious as to anything else I could take that might give my weight loss a boost.
I remember reading things about Vitamin D helping with weight loss but not sure where I red that, and how much to take.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Michelle (yanni2)

Everyone in our home takes a Vitamin D daily. We use Carlson Vitamin D3 soft gels, 2000 IU. Make sure you buy the D3. Not sure if they will help with weight loss, but I know they brought our Vit D levels up to the normal range. We also take a fish oil daily.
I personally add in a 5000 mcg Biotin for my hair and nails. Takes a few months to see the results but for me, it's worth it. Also take Selenium to support my thyroid (Hashi's).

I am a mess!!!

Yesterday I weighed in, I lost just one pound, so what did I do?

I ate, and Ate, and ate!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRR

I've been known to do the same thing. ;)
I lost 3 for last week so I made sure I sabotaged myself by eating the freaking hot cornbread that came out of the oven along with the homemade chili. Up 1 lb this morning instead of losing or staying the same. Gee, thanks DH. He always cooks food he knows I shouldn't eat. I know it was my choice, but what are husbands for, if not to blame?:rotfl2:

QOTD: How are YOU planning ahead for this week? Grocery shopping? Listing out your meals/snacks? Planning out your workouts?

I am up way before the rest of my family today.... so, this morning I am going to regroup and get ourselves organized for the week. I will plan out my workouts. Find a new race since the marathon I had just started training for was cancelled. I will plan out our evening meals and be creative since we will be in the gym 4 nights this week.

QOTD (extra): It is SO beneficial to your healthy living lifestyle to have make ahead meals (well, it is for me). What's your favorite make ahead meal? Would you share your recipe?

I used to do the once a month cooking plan. It worked for awhile but we weren't too crazy about some of the meals and I never took the time to incorporate our favorites. Right now crock pot meals are my families best friend!

I'm still working on getting in the habit of tracking my meals, so I plan on getting into a better routine with that. I have my groceries for the week, and I am working to avoid all fast food at work. When supper is made, I go ahead and portion out a plate to take to lunch the next day. For snacks, I take two yogurts to work. I usually don't eat both, but I don't get into the junk drawer at work if I have the yogurt. With the fatigue, I'm still not up to working out, but I might try a little bit at the end of the week.

I think my biggest obstacle with this is time.. like i said earlier, I try to take left overs for lunch.. one problem I found is when there are very FEW leftovers. So, I'm taking a page from McAlisters Restaurant.. I have found that you can take a medium baked potato (less than 200 calories) and load it up with leftovers for a 'gourmet' baked potato. My favorite things to put on them are:
Chili
Soup (something thick like a stew)
Any kind of chicken
Really any kind of chopped meat (chicken, pork chops, steak, etc..)
Meatloaf
Mexican (ground beef, cheese, salsa, etc..)

I actually keep a couple of baked potatoes in the fridge so that they are ready when I need them. Then I take whatever leftovers I have and put a few tablespoons in a container. The next day at work, I just top the spud and put it all in the microwave for a few minutes. People at work are always hollering "I smell something good!!".

Really, it was no big deal on Donald. It was two people who had a bad day at the same time.:goodvibes Stuff like this happens, and honestly it was over pretty quickly. Not even worth getting excited about.:goodvibes Definitely not worth worrying about.:goodvibes We've all made nice and moved on.:goodvibes I definitely did not have my big girl pants on and responded a little more cranky than I normally would have, and before I could delete it, someone quoted me....so I was caught being cranky. That will teach me!:rotfl:

I now return you to your regularly scheduled weight loss thread.:goodvibes

ETA...I just realized I put ALOT of smileys in this post! :)

Hi Team Mickey! Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. :goodvibes We were super busy yesterday with basketball games, and first baseball pracitce (love how some sports start to overlap this time of year;) I did treat myself to some pizza with the kids last night:thumbsup2

QOTD-I am trying to plan my meals as I sit here enjoying my coffee. I do much better, eating wise and budget wise if I plan our dinners for the week. I try to do several crock pot meals through the week, especially the nights that sports and dance are going on. I have a super easy one...if anyone wants it.

4-5 chicken breasts, sprinkled with cumin, little bit of pepper
Cover with 1 can black beans(rinsed) and 1 jar salsa
Cook all day on low. You can eat on salad, low carb tortillas, or make baked nachos. It comes out really tender and my DH and kids love it!

Well, I am making a grocery list for when I get to WalMart/Publix in Florida on Wednesday. The only plan for a workout I have right now is to walk (or swim :cloud9:) whenever possible. I really have no idea what my schedule will be for the first few days. I have planned out what I'm going to eat at the two or three places I will be eating on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, I don't really make any meals ahead, but while I was at school I would plan a meal ahead of time. I hope to start doing that again when y schedule has some stability.

Hi, everyone! I'm finally popping in to introduce myself.

I've decided that I'm sick of never wanting to be in photos, sick of clothes shopping being miserable (and not being able to buy the cute clothes at WDW!), and sick of not being happy with who I am.

On Dec 27, DH & I assembled our elliptical machine and have been using it since then. Between actually exercising & counting calories, I've lost 8 lbs in 2 weeks :thumbsup2

I'm using an iPhone app called Lose It! and it has been really helpful. Hopefully that plus this challenge will help me reach my goal of a total loss of 80 lbs.

I look forward to getting to know you all. :goodvibes
