Anyone done this before? I'm thinking about doing my first half in March and this is one of the charity training programs they have for this race.

My daughter's teacher just did the Nike half in SF and did the TNT and said it was a wonderful experience.

I'm starting to get bored running my neighborhood and don't have any friends who run. DH runs at different times than me cause of our kids. I have searched online to no end and can't find any running groups in my immediate area. There are plenty around here, just none convenient to me. I find this amazing since I'm north of Atlanta! :confused3

What exactly does the TNT do? Do they run together, too? I thought maybe I can meet some other new runners and for a good cause.

You are required to raise some funds and you will be reimbursed for your trip to the race - accomodation, flights, etc. Some people are comfortable with raising large funds and some are not. (Lots of time goes into sending out emails, planning fund-raising events, etc.) They have group runs on weekends and it may or may not work with your schedule. You run on your own on weekdays.

There are also other charity groups that do similar - Joints in Motion (arthritis), End stroke, etc. Check them out too.

The best way to meet other runners are to join a running group and volunteer at local races.

TNT'er here! The fundraising can be daunting but you CAN do it... The team spirit and support are soooooo worth it, not to mention it is one of THE best charities to support! :goodvibes

My TNT coaches are really great people and the weekly breakfast after our long run is SO great! :grouphug:

If you want to run with a group, which I like to do, just check for local running groups.

I found a Saturday Galloway group in my area and love running with them.

There are also two other groups I could run with. TNT is fun and for a great cause. I have run with charity groups before, but I don't use them for my main training. For that I run with local groups.

I'm a team member with TNT right now and I must say this has been a wonderful experience. Raising the required donations was alittle uncomfortable in the beginning, but everyone was so generous and caring, so it really didn't hinder my mission.

We have trail training every Saturday morning and track training every Wednesday evening. There are 2 trainers in our chapter and many mentors and they keep in touch by emails and phone calls.

The people involved with Team in Training are very supportive and are extremely helpful with your training progress and fund raising...go for it!:)
