Team Hakuna Matata - MAY Thread!

Hey there gang!!!!!

Connie, I think my hours may be off. I have been giving you a week at a time:confused3 I think I messed you up. Can you refresh my memory what are the next dates???

Sorry i am behind here AGAIN....what did I miss:hug:

Hi Kim!

The first week for this month was May 1 - May 7
May 8 - May 14
May 14 - May 21
May 22 - May 31

I have you down for: 8 miles the first week and 3 miles this week.

Is that right?

yikes, I will have to check my paper, I might ahve tossed it. I am not very good at keeping my records:confused:

Hi guys.

I had a PR this morning on my WKU route. I'm really pumped about how the training is stacking up.

.5 mile warm-up, 4.5 miles in 54:35, 12:08 pace then an hour of cals and stretching with weights thrown in.

We saw the Narnia 2 and loved it. Very good special effects and battles.

Erica is still in healing mode, she is surely tired of it and ready to get back to training again. Heck she will be happy to wear shoes again. Of course this is Kentucky.

Hi All

I miss you guys so much. I do try to read posts in the morning before I go to work. I was so tired from working in the living room I could barely get stay awake when I got home last night after work. Miranda let me nap for about 20 min then called and came over. She wanted to walk but I just didn't have it in me.

Mark worked late tonight (yeah he's busy) and I came home to an empty house. Do I go to the sewing room and play, take a nap, make supper or go for a walk so for the TEAM, I mapped out a safe 4mile walk in my neighborhood and off I went. Timed it and was quite proud that I did it in less than 1 hour. Actually it was a 13.25 mile. :yay: Listened to my shuffle all my favorite songs and was thrilled when I made it home in less than 1 hour and Mark was home. I did leave him the route on a note in case he wondered where I went.

So, while I have a lot of work out hours with const, and PT I now have 4 miles for the week. Not sure what I'll have to put in for the rest of the week but I was feeling bad I didn't have any to contribute. You all make me move when I'd rather just sit and sew.

Thanks for letting me slide a bit.:rolleyes1

So Erica, don't feel to bad, you'll be right as rain soon and I'll bet you total miles will exceed mine even though you've been hung up for a while.

Take care

denise

Good Morning!

denise - my brother lives in laconia and I went to high school in keene so I pass through manchester periodically. If you hear of any 10K races this summer (especially flat ones) let me know. I'll be looking to try and do one in July or August.

I'm sure there are races coming up.

We have an official 1/2 and full marathon in Manchester that you can use to qualify for the Boston. That is held in early November - I will be just back from Houston so can't do that one.

We have a 5k in August - The Cigna Road Race - fairly flat.

We have the Union Leader Classic an 8k in September that for me was brutal last year since it was in the high 90's and being in New England I;m used to training in the cooler weather. One section they had just paved so the heat and the smell from that new surface was terrible.

In October another 5k - Footrace for the Fallen sponsored by the Police Dept. I believe October 19th again pretty flat and they have a lot of good stuff to give away and some good food at the end.

I'll keep you in mind if they have a 10k around.

denise

We are getting ready for teh BolderBoulder 10K, hear there are lots of people as it is billed as the largest timed evet in the world.

Anne, I applaud you in wathcing your DD use of the computer. Very Good for me to hear. Keep up the good work.

Back at work and the weather looks to get wet on us here today.
Will get a run in tonight I hope.

Good Morning Team!

It is cloudy here this morning, predicting "severe weather" for this afternoon - don't think Scott will get an evening run in, at least outside. They are calling for hail and possibly tornados (but no official watch or warnings yet). I moved our potted tomato plants to a more secure spot. I noticed today that the crab apple tree is covered with blossoms, hope they survive tonights storm!

I will get the dogs out for our walk this morning before weather gets bad. It is cooler today.

Denise - good job on the walk! That is a great pace.

Dave - congrats on the PR!

Erica - be patient, you will be back walking soon!

Have a great day!

Hope everyone has had a good week :goodvibes

Connie, I am PMing you mine and Erica's Time & Miles for May 15th - 21st

I did keep on schedule but had two rest days this week. I am so thankful I am on this Team and am accountable to get in some time & miles in, as it was a tough week - I just did not want to do anything! :confused3

Good Morning Team!

Thanks for the reminder about posting miles, I forgot to do it last night, and I would have forgotten again this morning had I not seen the post.

We never got the "severe weather" last night, no hail, no thunderstorms, no tormados, but we did get high wind, it was blowing at 40 mph with gusts to 55mph all evening. But the blossoms on the crab apple survived! Today it is raining and windy - not 40 mph, but 20 mph in the rain is not fun. Also very foggy out, so that is a safety issue - guess I will be spending the day inside - no bike ride today. I will get my exercise cleaning house and sanding dry wall! Does it ever end???

Have a great day everyone!

Hello team! I know I have been absent the last week or so...and me being a newbie and all *shame shame*. We have had a hectic week in our household! I am soooo looking forward to this holiday weekend. We have plans for a Sunday cookout and the zoo on Monday.

So I've decided to take the big leap. :scared: I think I am going to register for the marathon!!! How many of our team are registered? How many have ran it before? I'm nervous even thinking about it!!! Yikes!

I've started my slow but sure training schedule and I'm already feeling great about it!! Anyone else follow the Hal Higdon stuff?

Sorry I haven't had time to read the above posts. I had a few minuntes to hop on here before my shift started so I figured I'd log my miles and check in. Hope all is well with everybody!!

Just got home from the 'Girls on the Run' 5k Event. 1,8500 young ladies and some of them are FAST! That did not count the coaches, parents, & others who ran with them. I worked the block Traffic Start Line, Finish Line Food, Clean Up, and Tear Down -4 hours of pretty fast paced activity. It was very nice and each girl received a pair of new New Balance Shoes! :upsidedow

Little Hagen and I did 4.75 miles this morning and I am only counting an extra mile for all the walking at the event...I was parked in Lot #13 and it was a hilly walk to the stadium. :yay:

Lynne, I was thinking about you guys this morning...glad to hear the storms missed you :goodvibes But this house cleaning business :rolleyes1

For those going away for the long holiday weekend....Safe Travels and ENJOY all the moments! :thumbsup2

Villains Rock, Erica and I are doing the Marathon.

I'm not being anti social guys, just no time the last couple of days. Erica has had Dr appointments that went almost to when I had to go to work. I'll catch up thisd weekend, I promise.

Good Morning Team!

Where is everyone this morning?

Storms may have missed us the day before, but not last night. Twice we had to go to the basement due to tornado warnings. Colorado was hit quite badly, and so was Laramie, WY about 50 miles west of us. The second time we went downstairs was for a funnel cloud which was sited about a mile from our house! We have the RV TV set up in front of our treadmill, and although it is not connected to a satellite, it does get local stations, and we kept updated with that! Nothing ever came close to us, the first set of funnel cloud sitings were west of us by several miles. The one that was close did not cause any damage that I ever heard of. This mornings weather forecast was for the same severe weather as last night - we will see. After the second warning was cancelled, we came upstairs and watched an amazing lightning storm to the north of us. It was my first tornado experience. Scott grew up in the mid west, it was old hat for him! He was at work for the first warning, and they sent everyone home - ya sure - send your employees out in their cars during a tornado warning!!!! He made it home safely.

Villian Rocks - Scott and I are both doing the marathon, it will be the first marathon for both of us. I am just doing the marathon, but Scott has signed up for the "Goofy"! We have both done several 1/2 marathons.

I did get out with the dogs for a good walk this morning, it was cool, but there was no wind and no rain, so I went for it. I am also beginning to feel that the core work is helping my walking. It is seeming a bit easier to keep up a faster pace, especially when I focus on my abdominal muscles!

Have a great day!

OMG Scott and Lynn stay safe!!!!!!

Villian Rocks: DH and I are also doing the Marathon but have not registered yet. Holding on to my money as long as possible;)

To all my American Friends have a awesome long weekend:grouphug: and stay safe!!!!

Well yesterday I got sent home early, weather was at it again - hail heavy rain, tornadoes etc etc, Get home, ground covered couple inches of hail, dogs inside, no Lynn, I call for her, no answer, next I start looking, find the basement leaking and Lynn in the window wells bailing the 18 inches of standing water. We have some of it come inside, not too bad still drying out the carpet in the one finished room, no damage yeah!!!! just wet.

I guess I could seal those window wells so we could put fish in there. LOL

The problem was east wind and greater than expected rain, and the slope of the land around the house on the east side. Down spouts from the gutters were blocked with hail so water could not be diverted.

We got things kinda dried up and went off to lowes to get some pipe to extend the downspouts to a good drainage slope. We will also be building some decorating berms to divert any over flow in the future.

Oh well off to Boulder later today.

Scott and Lynn, I'm so jealous, I want to go to Boulder and race to.

I had a nice walk this morning and when I was trucking along on the WKU long uphill one of the local running club members caught up to me. We had a nice chat, since I had disappeared since Oct last year. He is a senior also just about my age and does 5Ks in the 18 min range. He said what ever I was doing I needed to keep doing since I was looking really strong. Of course that made me feel good.

I normally rest on saturday but I was just to pumped to stay home with the weather being so perfect.

Hope everyone is having a super weekend.

Hey guys! I'm rounding out my oh-so-terrible six day work week and I've never needed a day off and a glass of wine so badly in my life. Calgon take me away!!! On a better note, I've done great with my training this week. I didn't miss anything and I have 30 min cross tonight and a 4 mile tomorrow. Can't wait til I get back up there to 8 and 10 miles...it'll be nice!

Lots of marathoners!! Yay! I'll be running alone and my DBF will be at the finish line for me. I'm very nervous about "the wall". Anyone know much about it?

Scott and Lynn - Enjoy the race! I bet it's just beautiful and you said it was the largest timed race...that has to be exhilerating!! :yay:

Dave - DIdn't get a chance to tell you last post, but congrats on your PR!! :woohoo:

1 and a half more hours til I'm free from the cube! Maybe I'll watch Office Space this weekend...I need a good laugh!

Hope everybody has a good holiday weekend. Stay safe and eat good food!
:drinking1

Dave that is so KEWL your encounter with the local, man o man he is fast.

Eva, If you were here I would share my bottle of wine with you, I am a real wine snob as I buy wine by whatever label I think is groovy, really...I know abot he long weeks.

We are in Boulder and went to the expo today, scored bunches of free chatskies (sp?) and other freebee stuff. Our hotel room is like a DVC studio, Holiday Inn Express, now I am ready to either shut down a necular reactor or do brain surgery.

I did score a kewl tech race shirt, It says "sealevel is for sissies"

Will hit the hot tub tonight, enjoy the weekend and let us not forget the real meaning of Memorial Day.
