Team Hakuna Matata - MAY Thread!

Villians Rock, Yes, it is a nice area here in Portage. We also have some nice trails, walking areas, bike paths.

Oh, and 30 weeks is more time than I had to train for my first marathon ...
Your Dad probably was thinking if you start slower and build you will enjoy it a lot more. ::yes:: I started training in mid May for the mid October 2005Columbus Marathon - had to take about four weeks off for the work & planning of DD August wedding. The training was tough and I would NOT recommend doing it that way :rolleyes1

Good morning team mates.

I've had a really good week, the weather changed to really nice spring weather for a welcome change. I'm having a hard time getting the cals and stretching done because I want to stay out side in the sunshine instead of the gym on a mat.

I guess I could do like the Karate Kid and do "Wax on Wax off" and paint a room like Scott and Lynn.

I have good miles and some stretching, so today will be a short walk to warm up then a good stretching and weight session.

How is everyone today?

Good Morning Team!

I just realized that I skipped yesterday, I got out early for a dog walk and never got back to the boards, I spent the rest of the day cleaning house! (The only time it gets a good cleaning is when we are expecting company!) It has been great weather here, warm, sunny, not much wind. In fact, it is so warm, that the wind now feels good! Maybe I'll get Scott to tune up the bikes, so we can start some bike riding as cross training.

I will assume that we are posting hours and miles by month again, and try to remember to get ours posted tonight or tomorrow (or maybe Monday as I usually do not get on the boards over the weekend).

Have a great day!

Just noticed we can get a three day park hopper for DL at our local Safeway, might look into that for our August trip.

Busy last couple of days at work, what else is new. Oh, I might have to go to Ft Collins on a work project.

Got in a nice 3 mile plus run this morn, have some yard work to do, never ends. BBQ HS grad party tonight, should be fun.

:yay: :yay:

Monday, we celebrated my son Nick’s b-day he turned 28 on mother’s day but this was the only opportunity we could all be together. Miranda made him a Pirate ship cake – not only was it cool it tasted GREAT. I will post pictures later.

denise

I thought he turned 27?... So, after all these years, you guys were giving me grief for being older then Nick when I wasn't?

Good morning everyone! Sorry I haven't been around much lately - things have been a little busy at work I haven't been able to check in as much as I would have liked :( I have been accumulating my hours and miles though... :)

Anyway, I should stop procrastinating here and start my run! I've been using the excuse that I shouldn't be running immediately after getting up ... well I've been up for a *little* while now and I'm still posting on DIS

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Hi Everybody!!

I did 2 2miles walks today. The first one was with my dog, and the later on I did a 2 miler by myself.

This weeks total: 10 miles :cool1: and 35 min for Pilates workout:cool1: !

Erica:)

Connie, I am PMing you mine & Erica's road biking miles for May 29th, 30th, and 31st...now on to June. :thumbsup2

Erica, totally awesome you are healing, wearing shoes, and able to get some good walks in! :cool1:

Way to go Erica.

Will get the texture on the south bedroom today, we were very successful in getting stuff done yesterday. Got the weekend list knocked out by about 4:00 yesterday. So we will have an afternoon to do something different, maybe a bike ride, geocache, who knows. I even got the Mt Bikes kinda tuned up yesterday.

Have a great day all.

Good morning Scott, it looks like we are the only ones awake. My princess and baby princess (DD 21) are still getting beauty sleep. It works for them, maybe I should try it myself?

I'm taking a rest day today, I'm down to one rest day and one easy day each week now instead of 2 rest days. Too much energy and it's to pretty outside now to ride the couch.

Erica and I have bikes and we might try to ride a little someday soon. We don't get a lot of time together and when we do there is so much to do with yard maintance and Dr visits, workouts and house work, of course there are lots of good movies out now to.

It sounds like everyone is doing great, with Erica back I don't think we have anymore injuries except for Mike's heel spur. Kim, how is your back doing?

Everyone have an awesome Sunday.

Got the south bedroom ready for paint, yeah!!!! some day this will all be done. The we went to Lowes and bought trim etc....

Earlier we had taken the Mt Bikes to ride to teh mail box, Lynn had a flat within 200 yards. so we took our bikes for a walk LOL. Went ot fix and the patch kit was dry and I couldn't find the tire irons. Later found tools and bought a patch kit so we went for a short 6 mile ride then tok the dogs for a 1.25 mile loop walk.

Tonight I am making a seafood stirfry, will see how it comes out.

Have a great evening all.

Happy Monday everyone! Hope everyone had a great weekend! We had some nice weather in Toronto over the weekend. I still ended up staying in and running on the treadmill - why? There are lots of little caterpillers all over the sidewalks and roads. I feel funny if I step on them and I can't run looking down the whole time so I stayed inside and ran and did my stretches and weights outside :)

Erica - WTG! Sounds like you're making excellent progress in your recovery!

Connie - Do you have the weekly breakdown for June? No rush or anything I was just curious :)

Scott - Sounds like you have a reno project every weekend. Are you giving your house a total makeover?

Good morning Team Mates.

Bunny, Kim and I have found another Canadian walker over on the DisneyRunning.com walker section. We will have to invite her to our next WISH gathering. The little buggies can be a bit unsettling.

How is everyone doing? Margie are you surviving the nany duties? Scott and Lynn are you ready for the next season of "This Old House". Sounds like you two would be naturals for it.

Connie, hello, are you out there princess? Are the kid duties going well?

Cindy how are you doing?

Wilber how's it going lady?

Everyone have an awesome day.

Good Morning Team!

Scott got the bikes together, and we got in a 6 mile bike ride yesterday. It was fun to be back on the bikes - but work, it does use different muscles. Today I will get in an early dog walk, my college roommate is coming for a visit today, I have to drive down to Denver to pick her up. I probably will not get much in for the next few days, she says she wants to walk, but I know she lives near sea level, and do not know her level of fitness, so we will be taking it very slowly! I also may not get a chance to post for the next few days.

We are finishing off an unfinished basement, so the construction projects will probably go on all summer. I am hoping to be finished before Christmas!!! We will have the large entertainment area to do when this bedroom is finished. That will include the "Adventurers Club Bar", a library area, and a "Theatre Room" area.

Well, I had better get going, do not have alot of time this morning.

Have a great day!

I did get a 2.6 mile run in this morn, now at work, lots to do here.

Yes Dave, we should actually call it this new house, LOL Seems like a bunch to do yet but we are getting closer. Any advise on a home theater system????

Running note, pulled a muscle in the left lumbar area during the PT test, seems to be effecting my hip, does this make sense???

Good Morning, Team!

It's Monday morning and I so need a nap. Can't stop yawning. Don't know if I can keep awake til 4pm. I don't drink coffee and it's really hot in the office. What a way to start the work week.

I'm in a running funk right now. Even blew off Saturday's run. Just not like me.
T of T and the 1/2 are too far down the line. Bunnyfoo & Hockeychic are running at the end of Sept. just can't get motivated to do that race either.

Hope everyone's training is going well.

Erica, glad to hear you are on the mend.
Scott/ Lynn, The bike is always a nice change of pace. I was an avid mountain biker. Gave it up for running and haven't looked back.

Have a great day, Sue

I did something like that back in March. I think my PT and chiro told me it was the piriformis (sp?) muscle. It was literally a pain in the butt and back - it irritated my sciatic nerve.

Sending lots of :wizard: your way and I hope you feel better soon Scott!

Cool! Are you coming to our mini WISH meet before the 1/2 marathon in September :goodvibes

Hey Sue! Your Monday sounds a lot like mine (except for the hot office) - I always have trouble sleeping Sunday nights. Maybe you can get an iced green tea from Starbucks? I think that has a bit of caffeine in it.

I don't really have any advice about the running - I felt a little like that after I got back from the Minnie. My fiance wanted to start running so that got me motivated again. Of course sometimes it might be better to take a small break rather than to push through something, especially if you're not feeling it.

Well I have been MIA for a while and been quite lazy.

This weekend I put together my training schedule together and I am ready to get back on the ball.

I did an interval training workout today, cardio+sculpt for 55 minutes.

Welcome back Cobbler.

We went to the foot Dr in Nashville and Erica got released to go back to work. She is ready, she misses her buds at the ICU and Telementry. She will be primarily ICU now instead of Telementry. We walked a nice 3 miler today together and I may take her for another couple later.

Erica thanked the Dr for correcting her flat feet. He said the new arches look great on the X-Rays, we are expecting her feet should be much better than before.
