Team Goddess - Volume 11. Rocking 2012 Goddess Style!

Hi Ladies! Just got back from a mini vacation to Vermont. I will catch up soon but I wanted to share here...

My sister is potentially getting married in Disney. As long as my brother can get the time off from work it's a go. She doesn't like to be the center of attention so she wanted something small in terms of a ceremony. They have planned a sort of reception but she had always planned to do the ceremony separately with just immediate family and their daughter of course. My parents wanted to do a family trip to Disney so... Voila the idea was born.

Very exciting

How Cool Meg!!!! When will the date be?

I don't know how I would ever get married. I'm like your sister - with the center of attention.

Whoops, your post isn't about me. :rotfl2:

Let us know all about it Megan - maybe this wedding post will bring on the LIZ!!!! ;)

She was really struggling with it actually. How do you have a party to celebrate but have a ceremony that you tell everyone they can't go to? Her boyfriend came up with this idea and she loved it so its a go. They thought about doing the cheapest wedding from Fairy Tale Weddings but they are going to ahve one guest more then is allowed at that one and they felt that to bump up to the next one was just too much money to spend. They then were looking at the Swan and Dolphin Weddings and then some weddings you can have at Downtown Disney. Characters in Flight was a possibility but the company had to shut down the balloon due to an accident with one of their balloons out in California. Soooo it was down to Swan and Dolphin vs. Fulton's...

she decided to get married on the deck of Fulton's. She liked the history of it being the Empress Lilly. My mom talks about what a big deal it was when they had character breakfasts there and my parents took us. She's going to wear her wedding dress, I'm going to wear a bridesmaid dress... I'm sure her daughter will wear a fancy dress. She's working out the details for flowers. We're trying to figure out where to have dinner that night to celebrate. We will be there 8 days, her wedding is going to be December 1. I'm working on some ideas for her to incorporate disney into her at home party in a subtle way.

It all is coming together very quickly.

That's nice Megan. Can't wait to see pictures of that! Empress Lily. :flower3:

Funny story about the big boat. We took both our families - right after Mama passed away - to WDW. There were 14 of us. Most were at SSR. Jean and I were at OKW. (How clever of us! :rotfl: ;))

Anyway one day we were all in the Congress Park pool and my dad comes over and quietly says "go over and tell your sister that the big white boat has just arrived/docked at Downtown Disney". This is the grand stationary boat that was in her room view for days. :lmao: I'm like "DAD! Leave her alone!". :rotfl:

I don't know if he did it or I did it but she was all excited and told everyone "look - look the boat has come down stream". Priceless childish family nonsense that families do! Great memory. My sister was definitely God's very special work! :thumbsup2 Truly. No sarcasm. :goodvibes

Kelly GET IN THE BOAT NOW :rotfl2: -

Kat and I are doing Indian - TONIGHT.

And Kat is picking me up in a freakin' FIAT 500. And it's red like my coat. :rotfl: I offered to meet her but she's seducing me with her car. :rotfl: :lmao:. ;)

Look at the travelling high-end businesswoman! :thumbsup2

Kelly, I am right there with you. I feel that I have been extremely blessed thus far and pray that I will continue to be for a good long while :goodvibes.

I hope it continues for a long LONG time!

Kelly - my God where are all my beloved icons!!!!!!!!!

Kelly, it was wonderful to read how lucky you've been. I've lost grandparents early and aunts and uncles. But I have been totally blessed with my immediate family. I know that wasn't your entire point of writing though.

And I can only imagine how scary it all is with how lovingly close you are.

(I'm rambled on and on and edited Kelly. I'm way too emotional right now)

KELLY - Olympics - please share all the excitement and the smack of course!

I didn't see your post before you edited :(
It is scary - very scary at times. It has all been brought home with my Grandads medical problems at the minute, and it hits home that they won't be here forever. I do know that I have been crazy lucky so far, and I hope it continues for a long time!

Olympics - so excited! The country seems to be divided completely in two - those who are excited and those who have no interest whatsoever - me, I'm loving the fact that they Olympics are here! :thumbsup2

I haven't weighed (which is totally unusual for me) but I'm trying to stay on track. Everything is crazy here...Rey hurt his back at work. Heard a pop and excruciating pain in his lower back. He tried to just rest for a week where he was (Washington) but when he tried to go back to work, it got even worse. We had to fly him home and he has an MRI on Tuesday, they think he slipped/ruptured a disc. Soooo, I have been petsitting like mad still, trying to take care of him (he's stubborn and won't stay down! gah!) and trying to figure out how screwed we are going to be if we file for workers comp. I'm just unsure of how this will effect us in the future, but it seems like this is going to be a while to recover (it happened on 6/20) and we will eat our savings up probably by the beginning of August with no income other than my petsitting. Sorry, I just kinda dumped that, but that's what is going on here! :scared:

Oh Karen I'm so sorry to here that :worried: Im hoping for a relatively painless and speedy recovery :flower3:

Aaaaargh! If I could get there in record time crossing land and sea I so would! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Indian food! You know I am expecting a FULL rundown of food consumed tonight :thumbsup2

Everyone - hope you are all well :flower3:

This country was exactly like that with Vancouver - before the games you get debates, costs, not going to be ready stories....

But I would bet at LEAST half of those who cares will care when it starts. It is exciting. But you and I know that. :goodvibes

My editing was because I was rambling and I didn't want my thoughts about death to be insensitive to your journey Kelly. Cause it's yours.

I was thinking about you yesterday. I'm exhausted. It takes me ages to get back and forth from where they live - in the end a five hour commute (by transit - only just over two return by car). Was with my mom yesterday but I had a moment in time where I realized something and thought of you. I knew this in my head but never felt it fully. Took it in. We were sitting on the back deck. Just sitting there. And she says something like "your sunglasses are beautiful" :rotfl2: and I had a whoosh right after as we sat in complete silence and before I say a thing I know 100% no one would wish this for any relative. It's not a fair trade by any means.

But this - and any sickness (love to you Liz) - well if you fall into it instead of fearing it and backing away (which some do because they can't deal) well it's a blessed intimacy that you would never get any of other way. I'm super close to my parents and obviously we've been through a boatload with my past - my father is difficult at times even though i know it's just anxiety over love. Well anyway no matter how close I am - this - and my choice to embrace it head on - brings an intimacy that would never have come without it. Never. Not with my dad either.

I wash her. I put body cream on her. And yesterday we were in hysterics because I cut her toe nails and DESTROYED them. :rotfl2: I am so bad at it. She and I couldn't stop laughing. My *mother* would have been mortified. :rotfl2:. None of which would have happened - certainly not destroying her lovely feet. Simple moments of intimacy and vulnerability on both ends.

So no I wouldn't choose it. But this is love. And so in those awful moments Kelly - know that he has you right there. :lovestruc Right there.

Okay enough rambling. :goodvibes I have to get out of this head space for the arrival of Kat!

Ummm ROAD TRIP HERE. What is wrong with you people? :rotfl2: ;);)

"Up There" isn't really very close for me ya know

Have fun Nancy! Nothing better than a spontaneous weekend away. Good on you.

Oh my goodness Lisa. It was awesome. We stayed at a super fancy hotel. In Disney-terms, it was the Grand Floridian  Definitely not our average trip! Super relaxing. We went canoing down the Batten Kill River, strolled thru the shops in town (didn't buy anything at the Coach outlet. Did think of the cutie though :cutie:) We were away a little less than 48 hours, but it was just what I needed :thumbsup2

Everything is crazy here...Rey hurt his back at work.

Oh no! Karen, that's awful! I hope all is good with Rey :flower3:

Nancy - way to go to sneak that little road trip in where I can't get it!!!! :rotfl2:

Listen Ms. CONN - First, grab a map - I'm not UP UP. I'm not Montreal. I am more over. Seriously - check it out. Check out the fish tail. I'm over and up a tad We are *almost* (but not quite) on line Nancy - remember Steph and well Megan's love are further north than me - truly.

AND I would gather less than 10 hours for sure. I'm going to go check. So ROAD TRIP it!!!!!! ;) If you don't I swear I'll simply arrive on your porch one day. I swear Nancy.

As for the Kat and I having fun. Hmmmm. Wait for it. WAIT FOR IT.

Well if fun is your CC (mine) being denied while I try to take a friend out for dinner - well I guess that's FUN and I had tons. :lmao: OMG, mortifying. :scared1: Not in general because I knew everything was fine - but mortifying when you're out with a friend. I couldn't figure it out as I was kind of sure Indian wasn't costing thousands. ;)

Got to the bottom of it. It expired in June. I had no clue and they sent me a new card but I've never received it and I guess haven't used it this month - Canadians use debit/interac daily/regularly (US/Cdn difference in preference in daily shopping). BUT I got a $20 credit from my credit card company. :goodvibes

And loved your weekend. LOVED it. Jean and I used to weekend ALL THE TIME. So relaxing - certainly takes you away in your mind. I love the road.

Kelly - I will let Kat share her Indian meal experience. I actually forgot to ask her how her meal was for her - as in taste. Whoops on me. I must have been in Channa Masala heaven and it clouded my mind.

I know you're not Hartford (didn't want to put your personal out here) - but here you go. BOOYAH. Just over eight hours to my door. :goodvibes

And check it out - parts of South Western Ontario - are on line with you.

Okay - let's try this - http://mapq.st/NjYYJP

Whoops - the link is suddenly in New Brunswick. :rotfl2: Oh Nancy - you and I and computers. ;) Look at me throw you under the bus with me. :lmao:

Montreal is closer. only 6 hours :duck:

:rotfl:

Seriously. I would love to sometime. Don't know WHEN, but I would LOVE it.

That's ok! When I clicked on it, Providence, Rhode Island came up. :confused3

Technology hates me :rotfl:

Lisa and Kat! Have fun!

It's a driveby post for me, sorry! Dr. thinks it's a ruptured disc in his back (did I tell you this already? no time to go check...) He has an MRI tomorrow morning. It's not really much better, so I'm guessing long recovery, which is torture for him, he hates laying around. Lucky his work is paying workers comp, so we'll be ok financially until he's back on his feet!

:rotfl:

I KNOW that. :rotfl2:

Listen, what you Americans have to understand is that most Canadians know the US - well at least the East Coast or whatever US area they are near - in and out and back around again.

And what is your point Ms. Nancy? :lmao: Do you have someone you are DYING to see and is DYING to see you in Montreal? Do you? DO YOU? Besides a glass of wine. :rotfl2:

And I simply won't share that Montreal is far more interesting than Toronto. I WON'T!

What? WT H? I fixed it. LAkfldjfldkfjlad. Crapola. I'm trying to proove a point here Nancy! I will not let our computer issues get in the way of my stubborn and annoying ways. Go put Toronto, ON to Hartford, CT in for directions at mapquest. I want you to see that horizontal line going mostly west not north to the NORTH POLE or something. Like your straight UP line to Montreal. Laughing.

SOMEONE WHO IS BETTER THAN NANCY AND I PLEASE PASTE THE BLOODY MAPQUEST MAP FROM TORONTO TO CONN.

Here's to the MRI going better than expected.

And I can't even tell you how HAPPY I am to hear about worker's comp. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

Hope he feels better soon Karen. I know that's a difficult injury.

I decided to check it out....

Hartford, CT to Toronto is 8.5 hours (wasn't sure of Nancy's town so I went with Hartford)

My house(30 minutes north of Boston) to Toronto is 9.75 hours

My house to Montreal is about 5 hours and 15 minutes.

I did the drive to Toronto in college, it didn't seem that long but we did stop at Niagara Falls.

Oh and I should have backed Lisa's comment that my boy ad Montreal are further north. I won't mention that Toronto is further west then both of those. Nope... not going to mention it.

SOMEONE POST THE EFFIN' MAPQUEST MAP WITH MY RED LINE. :rotfl2:

I don't care how far anyone of you are from Montreal. :lmao::rotfl2: I. DON'T. CARE.

That was never the point. POINTE FINALE. :rotfl2:

Don't make me swear in French, Tabarnak! :goodvibes

I want the bloody red line that shows that UP goes to Montreal - over goes to Toronto.

SOMEONE!!!!! PLEASE.

Good work on the road trip story though Megan. :thumbsup2 GET IN THE CAR MEGAN!
