Team Goddess - Volume 11. Rocking 2012 Goddess Style!

:lmao: So, once I was trying to determine my REAL resting heart-rate. As in my SLEEPING heart rate. (My trainer at the time wanted to know). So, I wore my Polar chest strap to bed. Stephen had the watch part and woke up in the middle of the night to check it. Apparently I had lost "connection" and it read "0". Freaked him out just a little bit. But, when he finally DID get a reading it was INSANE. Like 30-something. Low, low, low.

OMG. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

Stephen wore the watch part. :lmao:

That's love. :rotfl2:

All too funny.

30 something. You little fit chick.

I love choices too. And variety! OH! Did I mention that Erin now has a heavy bag? :woohoo: I beat the ever-lovin'-stuffin' out of it last week. LOVE it.:lovestruc And she has the horrific Jacobs Ladder. Torture device that thing. Bleh.

You know where my mind goes with all of this - STRAIGHT ON RAGING JEALOUSY. :lmao:

I know your dam@ body type Nancy. With that Jacob's Ladder. You don't have to worry about legs and arms that build to look like trunks. DRAT YOU!!!!!!!!!!

So jealous. I swear if I wasn't so VAIN about my body type building in an unattractive way I would have been at goal a long time ago.

If it was size and cut well okay. But it's just size.

Love Erin's torture room. I want to see it one day. :thumbsup2

Oh and for anyone with a lower body injury. Your heavy bag made me remember Nancy. Stationary plie with rapid punching brings the HR up VERY QUICKLY. So you can do this with different punches in intervals.

I've been shocked what does it and what doesn't with all my body weight moves as far as HR. I would have thought that wouldn't but it's one of the faster moves. Even more than weight swings (like Kettlebell ones).

Hi everybody, newbie here!

Happened to stumble across this thread so forgive my newbieness! Love what's going on, especially since I just started WW and find it's slowly working for me so far. Here's my deets::cool1:

PlutoBaby AKA Kimberley
Age: 44
Height: 5'2" (or as my hubby calls me) - Midget:scared1:
Weight: 22 pounds more than I'd like to be:sad2:
Personal Stats: Married since last August to the love of my life:love:, live in FL conveniently only 3 hours away from WDW:banana:
Favorite Park: Epcot - as it's the most adult and I don't really do kiddies (the human ones anyway - I'm ALL OVER the puppy kind!)paw:

But I Love: Animal Kingdom (hello? animals??)

Passions: My dog, my husband, my dog, running, my dog, travelling,my dog, my friends, my dog (sensing a theme here??):rotfl:

Important to know: I have no patience. NONE, zip, zilch, nada, zerorama! Except when it comes to training my dog. Hmmmm..... Have an addiction to finding Hidden Mickeys when no one's looking; know every word to the music that plays during Illuminations which I lip synch when I think no one is looking...:confused3

Weight loss plan and goals: Following WW very closely but always seem to blow it on the weekends when doing things with friends. Somehow I've still managed to lose 5 pounds in the last few weeks. Plan on being at my goal weight by the time I go on vacation in June and keeping it there through November when I'll be attacking the WDW Wine and Dine Half. LOVE to run and just started yoga. Was in tears yesterday as the whole class was laughing so hard as we tried to get this arm over here and that one around there and then, on yeah, lift this leg up to the ceiling while pointing your toes and don't lose your balance while balancing on your pinky and singing She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain!::lmao::rotfl2:

Anywho, SO glad to find this thread so, THANKS!:yay:

Hi Everyone!

So many posts, so little time :upsidedow

I've been a bit absent between work being super busy and then a few surprise visitors last week for my birthday-- it was really nice to have some familiar faces around, except they all brought and left treats at my house. How on EARTH does one not indulge in the leftover half of one of the best red velvet cakes I think I've ever eaten when it's just sitting in your fridge, taunting. I'm fighting the power to go face first into it like a toddler to show that cake who's boss.

:lmao:
First - Happy birthday! I hope you had an excellent day!
Second - Throw it away! (Easier said than done, I know!)

Kelly!!!!

Have you ever used an inversion table for your back? I'm just wondering b/c I heard that they are very useful for sciatica.

I'm assume you know them but if you don't they aren't as scary as they look. :rotfl2:

http://www.theshoppingchannel.com/G...rsion-Table/pages/productdetails?nav=R:509243

I'm just wondering because I think that it must be so painful and frustrating for you and I'm always keeping my ears open.

Lisa  I like that you look out for me!

I have never been on one, but I have seen them. As DH said - 'The problem with you going on that would be that you would find a way to fall off it' :rotfl2: - Sadly, this is probably true!

I'm actually thinking of going to a Chiropractor (?). Since the operation my back has been better, but not brilliant. Day to day life is 1000 times better than it was, but the bad days are still bad. Anyway, DH says he can tell when I'm having a bad back day...'because i'm on a wonk' :lmao:. As in, I bend to one side. Never knew I was doing it, he showed me in a mirror and I do bend - one side of my waist is perfectly straight down, the other side goes in. So i'm thinking a chiropractor may be able to 'straighten me up' a bit? I've never been to one so I'm a little nervous that it may do more harm than good? I've done Physio and the like but never a chiropractor - anyone have any thoughts?

Thinking about the Chicago marathon.

:cool1::thumbsup2

DGF and I went to St Louis this weekend. It's tough. Her mom is weaker and more confused than our visit two weeks ago. There is a care team meeting this afternoon that DGF's sister will attend. One of her brothers will call in, too. When she was in rehab after breaking her elbow two years ago the staff would come around and ask her if she wanted something to help her sleep. Who doesn't? The ambien really doped her up. Once that stopped she rallied quickly. I hope it's that simple.

Ronda

I hope its that simple too Ronda

JO - Awesome on the smaller sizes!

Welcome Kimberley! :cool1:

Forgive my rambling, its been a looooooooong day!

EVERYONE - Hi :cloud9:

Hope you are all having a great day :flower3:

You know where my mind goes with all of this - STRAIGHT ON RAGING JEALOUSY. :lmao:

 AND she has the TRX suspension system. :scared1: Look it up. Seriouly killer.

Anyway, DH says he can tell when I'm having a bad back day...'because i'm on a wonk' :lmao:.

A wonk :lmao:

Some people love the chiropractor, some hate it. I am in the love category. If you do decide to go, find a good one - do you know anyone that can give you a personal recommendation?

Kimberly - Welcome

Holy Epcot! Spent nearly 11 hours there yesterday! My PF is horrible after 2 park days, I may seriously end up in a wheelchair before this trip is over! We are having a blast!

Trying to keep up with the thread but it is hard to read on my phone.

Karen! Hope you can manage with your foot and have fun!!!

Kimberly, welcome.

Rhi, happy belated birthday! If you eat the whole cake, just track it. Nancy is right though. I have had to throw things away outside in the big garbage just to make them go away. :lmao:

Ronda, yes on Sue's mom. Keep us updated.

Nancy - do you realize how SPORTY you are? Oh my word.

Lisa/Nancy - okay so I am a bit confused. I read all the HR stuff but basically the point is: I need strenght training - ie weights AND it's good to do lower intesity stuff. not just constant spin class?

Can you write it in toddler? I am new.

Hi Kimberley - WELCOME!!! :goodvibes

I can tell you're a lot of fun.

And 22 - you'll be there in no time. :thumbsup2

.

Lisa/Nancy - okay so I am a bit confused. I read all the HR stuff but basically the point is: I need strenght training - ie weights AND it's good to do lower intesity stuff. not just constant spin class?

Can you write it in toddler? I am new.

It's my fault. Nancy and I were discussing so many issues.

No you might not change a thing Liz. Not at all. It depends where your HR is on these choices. Even spinning. AND I'm not a big believer in low intensity - as in being focused on that. I think many don't push themselves enough - but there was something weird going on with Jean and I at the same time.

And you are watching your food - so you will probably lose regardless. :thumbsup2

And you're losing not plateauing so you're good.

And you're younger. I know it's only 7??? years. But it makes a difference for HR. I'm 45 this year - you're 38? Anyway it gives you much more HR room. To go harder. And higher HR.

The article was simply about staying around 60-85% of your HR. I prefer 70-85%. For you (38???) it would be 127-155. For me it would be 123- 148. For Jean it would be 119-145. And for Jean and I we went harder over the years - due to becoming more fit and challenging ourselves. Sometimes I was in the 150s/160s and 170s the whole time during my hour - I just checked it. And I believe this choice stopped the weight because I was going harder. It worked in the past because I was younger and therefore much closer the my 70-85.

Jean and I both gained. And as soon as we both stayed under our 85% (for the majority of our time working out) we both lost again. There's nothing wrong with going over - in fact some do 20 minute workouts at high intensity. But not for an hour (IMO) and not for the majority of your workouts.

I'm not into low intensity. I believe most - especially younger - under work. And don't change their shape. I see it all the time. They might be smaller though which some enjoy - I prefer solid over smaller. Especially in the mid forties.

And I also believe - Very high intensity - shorter duration (20 minutes); low intensity - longer duration (an hour); mid - mid (40 minutes). Although I'm stubborn and often do mid or high for an hour.

The weight lifting/body weight moves conversation was about Nancy and I both love the look more and how one feels and how it burns after. It is normally anaerobic - over the 85% at times.

Karen - so happy to hear that you're having fun! Here's to your FP not acting up. :goodvibes

Karen and Jo - this is the speed of this thread in the first years. We have really slowed down in the last year with posting.

Nancy - STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2: Yes I'm aware of your little suspension do da. Do you do feet in it and plank to a push up? Why yes you do no doubt.

Kelly - yes I'm always on the look out for you. :lovestruc You're much too young to have chronic pain. Research those tables - good and bad and warnings but some have stated their sciatica has just lessened greatly. And And the one I linked - he said there's been no one injuring themselves/falling out as in others. And I did think of you. :rotfl2: ;);) Also, he said to never ever start at full inversion.

As for the chiropractor I agree with Nancy. My mom LOVED it but there has been great controversy with neck manipulations here in the last couple of years.

Nancy - do you realize how SPORTY you are? Oh my word.

Nancy - STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2: Yes I'm aware of your little suspension do da. Do you do feet in it and plank to a push up? Why yes you do no doubt.

Yes. Amongst other evil tricks :upsidedow And tomorrow morning I meet those nasty little toys again. :scared2: And lets not forget her scale! To make matters just a little more challenging, I had chinese food for dinner tonight. yum, but oy the salt. My body really hates that! :headache:

OK guys, I did it. I threw it away. And to make sure I never never ever dig it out of the garbage, one of the pups had an accident on the floor and the wet paper towels went right on top of it. HOORAY. Why on earth they bought such a big cake is beyond me. I think maybe my grandmother figured we'd freeze it like a wedding cake or something. Surprisingly I didn't feel bad throwing it out-- usually I despise throwing things away unless it has mold on it. I don't know where I picked that one up.

I knew that January would be hard for weight loss, so my goal was 5lbs. I will be weighing in first thing Sat. I am pretty excited, although a little skeptical since I lost an entire month of exercise, but if I don't hit 5, then there's always next month :)

Another newbie here. I am looking for lots of moral support; by the looks of things, I think I've come to the right place!

Name: Therinian - aka Gina
Age: 37
Height: 5'4'
Weight: 195 :scared1:

Personal Stats:
I live on the east coast of the USA, have been with my husband for 14 years (married 11), am mom to three boys (ages 7, 10, and 18), a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and a gray/white, long-haired, mix-breed feline. I may be American, but I am Brit at heart, and a love for Walt Disney World flows through my veins.

Favorite Park:
Epcot. I can travel through 10 other countries without a passport, and try AMAZING foods!

But I Love:
Animal Kingdom. I love the lush greenery and the wonderful walking trails past beautiful animals.

Passions:
Travelling, cooking/eating, photography, reading, surfing the internet, Pinterest, planning fun trips for the family.

Important to know:
My computer is ooooold--like over 10 years old. It's an eMac, too, and prone to acting up--blank screen, not turning on, so sometimes I can't be on the internet as I'd like... *sigh* ... I really need a new computer. I'm a SAHM and find myself constantly overeating. I don't have a female support system for weight loss, but own a treadmill. I often speak first, think later. I see Hidden Mickey's EVERYWHERE, and have an eye for spotting loose change on the ground (a talent my middle son has now picked up, lol). I go to the local bookstore and spend time looking at travel guides--and I never say no to chocolate.

Weight loss plan and goals:
I've been looking around W.I.S.H. to get ideas for weight loss, and have started participating in Couch to 5K, the February Challenge (my goal is 600 minutes in 29 days), and the Walk to Disney challenge (1,017 miles). I'd like to get down to 170 lbs. What I'd really like to do is participate in the a local Susan G. Komen Cancer Walk and, ultimately, a Disney 1/2 Marathon.

I'd also like to stop overeating... :confused3

I laughed hysterically at this because I'm in the same boat. I'm the proud mom to a PowerBook from 2004 and a MacBook from 2006-- neither of which can really do anything other than check email (slowly), let me write papers for school, edit photos, and provide the occasional internet smiles if the pages load. I have the software to update to a newer OS, but the PowerBook doesn't have an Intel processor, and the MacBook doesn't have the RAM spaces available. Since both were free (thanks, work!) and are relatively functional, I won't buy a new one.

I've found it to be really supportive here. And there are ADORABLE t-shirts :)

Welcome Gina!! :goodvibes

I'm a total computer geek and pretty much wind up with latest and greatest - both my work and personal laptops are less than 6 months old.

Man, am I with you on the overeating!

A good portion of us here have done the Princess 1/2 marathon together, and are planning on a repeat (and three-peat in some cases) this year. Lots of running and run/walking advice around here, too.

I am a Galloway follower, belong to a local Galloway training group, and do a run/walk plan, although right now it's mostly walk due to some nagging injuries.

Hi Gina!

I just found these awesome ladies myself this week and have spent the past few afternoons reading every single post so I can try and familiarize myself with everyone. One thing is for sure - everyone is fun, funNY, and take supportive to a whole new level!:cool1: You have come to the right place girlfriend!:cheer2:

Thanks for the warm welcome! I will be on here as often as possible, or as often as my dinoMac will allow, so I hope to make some good friends.

PlutoBaby, I think I will be doing the same as you--going back to read older posts. Awesome idea! :thumbsup2

HockeyKat: I'd love to join you all someday for a marathon! Looking forward to getting to know everyone before then.
