I was just thinking the same thing - Dawn, did I miss something, too? FWIW, Leo really, really struggled with reading until a couple months ago. All of a sudden, it just came.
V- That is totally the norm for kiddos. One day it "clicks" an they GET IT! :cool1: I am super happy to hear that Leo is doing well.

As for the washer~ Do you have a front loader? Our leaked once and it was the "seal" around the front door. Worth a check!

What's up Dawn? :confused3

Jodi- Sorry to hear about the weather and the postponed party. Bummer!

O.K

HOW OLD is the washer ?
CAN you GET to the Water Pump ??
If there is something in there.. you can usually pour it out. But like I said undoing that RE-DOING those hoses is a real... ;) You know . Are your ready for a 100 dollar service call??

Yeah, there's no way I'd be able to do it myself - which is why I'm waiting to see if it leaks again before doing anything. It's going on 7 years old and it was a bottom-of-the-line model to start - frankly, if it starts leaking again I'll probably just get a new one and be done with it.

It helps that I LOOOOVE appliance shopping! :yay:

What's up Dawn? :confused3

I think they test and get placed for the co-op she's thinking about for next year. Sometimes the co-op director likes to know if the child is really prepared for a particular class. (At least that is my understanding of how it's done here.)

Just a quick hi. Bob's off to the airport. I stopped at the grocery store today (CE....) and then picked up SD.

Just have to pick up Gus soon and then we're in for the night. Making turkey burgers, roasted potatoes and green beans for dinner.

Sorry about DD's party, Jodi.

MEL

Well, the party didn't turn out as badly as I had thought. One other girl came that we weren't expecting. I had left a message at her house and they didn't go home between errands, so she was here. That made DD5 very happy. So, we ended up doing the cake thing anyway. Now, I'll have two more girls come over tomorrow for part 2 of the party. I'm taking cupcakes for school tomorrow so I figure I'll just buy extra and use them for the second part of the party. :thumbsup2

Anyway, things turned out much better than I had expected, so I'm good. And the snow finally stopped and from what I've heard, the roads are much better now. Once you get out of the neighborhoods, the main roads are pretty much just wet. It looks like we might be able to go out for dinner after all.:cheer2:

Thanks for all the thoughts guys!

. I STILL carry the scraper and brush in my car! :rotfl:

Why?:confused3 In case you start ot miss Buffalo winters!;)

. In my News of the Weird, my washing machine is randomly leaking. I reached down to pick up some lint in the laundry room Sun. and the floor was soaked. 3 towels later, it was all cleaned up and I moved things around to get a good look at the washer. Definitely not leaking from any hoses on the outside, but the bottom of the back panel felt wet, so I figured it must be leaking somewhere inside. Turned it on and off a few times trying to pinpoint it... and no more leaks! Gramma ran 3 loads of her laundry that day, and not another leak to be seen. I'm completely perplexed, but I'm not calling the repair guy until I see more action. :rotfl:

Hope you get it figured out!

Sorry I went on and on... I've been stressed about it. My nephew's in K in public school and I know A's way more advanced than him, so that annoys me too.
:sad2:

Anyway, have a good day. We'll be back later this afternoon.

 Dawn. Yo'll get it figured out!

She did, but we got in bed at 7 and from 7-11 my phone rang 3 times. Ughhh!

I hate that!

Tennis was good, I needed yet another trip to the grocery store, and now we're probably going to catch up on some TV. :thumbsup2 D's going skiing tomorrow, and I have nothing but the kids' yoga at 4:00. So, I may not be around much today, but I'll be able to do some more tomorrow. ;)

Have a good one, all!

Hi CE....Bye CE!

Well, today has turned into the day from H-E- double hockey sticks! It's been snowing all morning here and our 1-2" prediction has turned into 4-6" with 30 mph winds, meaning that plowing is basically useless because of drifting. DD4 (now 5)'s birthday is today and the party was planned for this afternoon. I've now had to postpone it until tomorrow and she's not taking the news well at all. There is a 20 car pile up on the interstate near our house with 3 confirmed fatalities. A 30-mile stretch is totally closed. There is no way I can ask people to drive in this weather!

So, two of her friends who live very close to us are coming over. We'll do a mini party today and then the regular party tomorrow. I'm trying to convince her that this way she gets to have three parties! She's not buying it.

Anyway, I'm dealing with a very sad girl today. :sad1:

Poor thing

Aww, I totally know what that's like - my 6th Bday party was canceled during the Blizzard of '77. :sad1:

You just gave away your age;) I LOVED that blizzrd. We were off of school for a week!:thumbsup2

What ever you need to to stay safe

Update below!:goodvibes

Jess was off school again, it hasn't snowed any more but has just all turned to ice  I did a bit of painting in the girls bedrooms and hung some pictures that we've had for years in Jess's room!!!! Jess meanwhile blew my laptop up  I don't know what she did but it won't boot up, just goes round in circles so I'm on the slow PC so won't be on much till my laptop is fixed!

Uh oh...

.... :rolleyes1

:rotfl2:

It helps that I LOOOOVE appliance shopping! :yay:

I hate appliance, furniture, clothes, shoe, food shopping. I must be missing a gene somewhere!:confused3

=======================================================

Jim's meeting has been cancelled until next week. The snow is coming down, but not really laying yet so I am going to save the vacay time to use next week. Apparently the storm took a small turn and we are going to get hit overnight and with more than originally predicted, so Jim and jimmy may or may not have work./school tomorrow. We do have a psych appointment for Jimmy tomorrow, so whatever happens I hope we can get to that. Jimmy is off Thursday for professional develpment day so he will go to the after school care place all day.

Not much going on here otherwise! Hope eveyone is having a good day:goodvibes

Thanks Jen - me too! :goodvibes
As for the washer~ Do you have a front loader?
Nope, top-loading and super simple - I only have 3 wash options!

Well, the party didn't turn out as badly as I had thought.
I'm glad! :goodvibes

Why?:confused3 In case you start ot miss Buffalo winters!;)
LOL! Listen, we actually had to scrape ice off the car windows a couple weeks ago - you never know! ;)

Speaking of... stay warm and safe tonight!

Stay safe, Janet. They are predicting "snow showers" for us tonight. We all know how that worked out last time:sad2:

My mother actually asked me to go to Burlington Coat factory and get her a coat and send it down to her;)

And thanks (she says sarcastically) for sending the storm this way:rolleyes:

Yeah, I know all about those types of storms, Janet! The storm last Tuesday was supposed to be 5-7 inches and we ended up with 13 and then today we were supposed to get 1-2 inches and we ended up with about 5! Crazy winter!!!!

Want my scraper? ;)

My mother actually asked me to go to Burlington Coat factory and get her a coat and send it down to her;)
 She doesn't have one over there?! We've got one here - I LOVE that place! Got my awesome down jacket there. Tell her to head across I-4 and we'll go shopping next time!

I forgot to tell you guys a short, funny story about our trip.

The day we flew down, it was 5 degrees below zero outside. Brrrr.... The kids and I got to Orlando and we all stripped out of our jackets! We were roasting! It was 76 degrees in Orlando, so that felt VERY warm to us.

Bob and his parents drove over from the gulf and met us at SSR. We waited on the room to be ready and let the kids swim. The inlaws complained the whole time about how cold it was! COLD?!? No, it was not cold, in my opinion.

Room is ready finally, so we bring the kids and inlaws upstairs and Bob and I grab their car and go get groceries. We return and it is SOOOOOO hot in the room I can't believe it. We check the thermostat. It says 80 degrees. Bob messes with it and says, omgosh it must be broken! We opened up the slider and the front door for a breeze, where outside it is now about 72 so it's nice. We pretty much sweat and pant for two hours till it starts cool down and the inlaws leave.

When they come back on Friday, I mention that it was a great week. Tell them we had a wonderful time, the weather was wonderful and we were so happy that the AC worked and that it wasn't broken as we first thought.
MIL says, "Why did you think it was broken?"

Bob says, "Because it was 80 degrees in here when we came back with groceries the last time you were here."

She says, "That's because I put the HEAT on. I was cold."

OMG. I laughed but Bob didn't! LOL. I guess if you live in FL, 76 is COLD....

MEL:banana:

MizDiz- Thanks for saying such sweet things. It's nice to hear every once in a while.

Jodi- I'm glad things turned out okay with DD's birthday party. :goodvibes

Katt- An escapee?! :lmao:

V- Thanks. I've always believed it'll click and he'll get it when he's ready. But now I feel pressure with the testing coming up.

I thought I had talked about the school thing, but now I'm wondering if I did since so many people seemed surprised. :confused3

I wanted to have Baylie take classes somewhere now that she's taking higher level classes. My church has a Monday/Wednesday homeschool co-op that I was looking at for the fall. When your kid enrolls, you have to volunteer some of your time to teach or help out. If I teach a class, then C and A will go during that hour every M/W, and it was only a few more dollars for them to go full day. So, everyone's going to school from 8:30-3 M/W in the fall. They will be home with me on T/Th and if they want to do some of the extra-curricular calsses, those are on Fridays. Make sense?

Anyway, the kids will be tested in June to see what level they will be in for each subject. Normally, that would be good since they just finished school and will have it fresh on their minds, but I could really use the summer to work with A on his reading. So, I'm stressed.:crazy2: I'm sure it will all be fine. It's just nerve-wracking to have them "evaluated", you know? I've worked so hard to move them ahead if they were good at something and slow them down if they were struggling. Now I feel forced to do reading with Aiden and I'm crabby about it.

I almost texted you earlier when I was at the park, sitting in the sun eating ice cream. It was 76, and I wasn't cold. :rotfl: It was perfect.

Hello All. :wave2: :coffee:

I skimmed...and didn't really retain anything. My bad.

Turns out I got an email this morning that our preview night of Guys and Dolls was canceled! We are being refunded the ticket price, so thats good. BUT it means no anniversary plans. SO I just booked another night in Atlantic City! :cool1:

Tomorrow I ma picking KC up from work and we are headed out to AC. First night at The Tropicana and the 2nd is Trump Plaza. It turned out to be about $20 cheaper to do it that way.

In other good news: I have an job interview on Saturday morning!!!! :cheer2: It's at 10am, so that should be interesting but I'm gonna cab it there to save myself time. Here's hoping we don't get home too late from AC on Friday night. :rolleyes2

Anyways I'm packing today and throwing together some pasta and leftover pork for dinner, so I';ll be around.

OH..here's the view from my windows...

]:cheer2: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

How is everyone? I skimmed a few pages, :grouphug: :grouphug: to Katt and hurray other Kat for the interview.

Mel, 76 must be those crazy Floridians. It was 63 here yesterday; warm enough for shorts.....oh, it may snow tonight.

I just took the American Accent quiz on FB and failed; it said I have a Northern accent. I think it must be broken (did Kate break FB again?)

Happy Birthday Mary!!!!

Katt - first a  and then a:lmao: I want more details on the escapee!

Kat - good luck on the interview and have fun in AC

Jodi - glad the b-day worked out.

V - my washer and dryer are now 7.5 years, fridge is 8.5, you are more than welcome to do my appliance shopping, cause I can't stand it. Clothes, shoes, World of Disney, oh yeah, let me work those credit cards, appliances:crazy2:

S'late - Kate and I were both on FB at the same time last night, that may have something to do with it being broken:guilty:

Mel - funny story and I can relate. See I'm cheap and I pretty much keep my thermostat at 65, unless I'm home for long periods of time I bump it to 68. Well Murph is coming to pug sit next week and she made me promise to set the thermostat at a minimum of 70 (she would prefer 72)for the entire time she is here as she is afraid to touch the modern thermastat that I have and she doesn't want to break it. I now have "set the thermostat to 70 and hold" on my list of to do's prior to leaving for the airport.

The snow didn't turn out to be too bad as it didn't stick to the roads since it was warmer yesterday BUT Namath got sick 2x during the night and well I am barely holding on with the Fibro and a lost night sleep is the worse thing. I sort of worked from home, got maybe 6 hours in, but that's like 9 in the office so I don't feel bad, especially with the OT I have put in lately.

Did I mention

I REALLY NEED A VACATION!!!!!!!!!!

In other good news: I have an job interview on Saturday morning!!!! :cheer2: It's at 10am, so that should be interesting but I'm gonna cab it there to save myself time. Here's hoping we don't get home too late from AC on Friday night. :rolleyes2

That's great, Kat. What job are you interviewing for?

I just took the American Accent quiz on FB and failed; it said I have a Northern accent. I think it must be broken (did Kate break FB again?)
I've been good :flower3: After we updated our virus protection FB started working much better for me.
S'late - Kate and I were both on FB at the same time last night, that may have something to do with it being broken:guilty:
;)

Feel better Mo.:goodvibes

Alright..off to make dinner then go to my book club :crazy2:
