CE: How about chili? I make turkey chili using the packaged chili seasoning by Carrol Shelby. It's in the aisle with the gravy packets (seasonings) Use 1lb. of ground turkey, 2 cans kidney beans:drained, 1 bottle beer, pkg. of seasonings (minus the salt) and 1 14 oz (i think) can of tomato puree. You could double it and and do some corn muffins. The pkg. Martha White ones are delish and only take milk.
I thought about that, but I decided on my pizza casserole, which can be put together in the morning and thrown on in the after-ski hours.
Leo actually fell asleep in a chair while I was taking a shwoer - allergies must be getting to him, poor baby! We're playing some Wii now and might go for a bike ride this afternoon. Nice Sat.!
Oh, no, but I am glad you're having a nice day.
OK did I miss you're going away???? Where? For how long? Who with?
Oh, yeah. Our friends, John & Deb, whom we do all the holidays with and so forth, had rented a house near a ski area in Maine with friends of theirs from their DD7's school. That first house had a furnace explosion or pipes burst or something, so the rental agency fixed them up with another place at the same price. The new place has room for us, and so it's really reasonable for a 3-way split (as they were meaning to do it half-and-half anyway) and then we got discount lift tickets for the ski area. All in all, it's a very cheapish way to ski for several days over the break, but it was all kind of last minute and so forth. Oh well. We're supposed to leave tomorrow afternoon and get back Thursday, but there's more on that below...
I'm feeling stressed because I don't camp and I have never done a house rental vacation, and we have to bring EVERYTHING but towels and sheets, so while we're all in charge of a dinner, I have to think about packing, for example, salt. It just seems like a lot to have to remember, and without D here, I'm freaking out.
No Janet today??? Hope she's not too ill, I know she said yesterday she wasn't feeling well!
I hope not, either, but I bet she's down.
CE: Hope your feeling less stressed about the vacay.
Not at all, but thanks for the wishes.
Well it's official, we're booked for March!!!!
Awesome!
You guys are the absolute best! I came to get some advice because I was so mad I was spitting nails. Now, I'm choking on my nachos.
What's wrong, Salty?

Well, not running around all day yesterday is going to come back to bite me. We got up and started packing and laundry, but then Woody started saying he has a tummy ache, and nearly didn't want to go to basketball, so I knew it was real. He made it through b-ball, but then the plan was to get some lunch, then do our shopping, go to the bank, and run by the ski store to get replacement gloves - his are falling apart due to overuse.
Well, he didn't eat, and was really hurting, so we had to come right home. I didn't need the bank to be open - just an ATM transaction, but I couldn't get to the ski store (or the liquor store - I was supposed to pick up extra tequila...

)
We came home and he stayed on the couch for a couple of hours, then thought he was OK. We went out to the ski store, and he started having pains again, so we drove quickly through the bank, but that's all. I still have to go out and do all the grocery shopping.

D's supposed to land in about 10 minutes or so, but it will take him a while to do paperwork and come home, so it looks like the store at 8:00. Fun.
Meanwhile, I don't know about Woody. There's been no nausea or anything, but he is pretty miserable. It may wind up that I have to send D & Scott tomorrow and we wait a day to go up, but of course we've already bought the lift tickets for Monday for everyone. Cheap, but still money down the drain if we don't get up there. Meanwhile, we're supposed to get 6-8 inches of snow starting tomorrow afternoon, right when we meant to leave, and of course we're driving into worse going into Maine. It will make coming home Thursday night interesting, too, if we can't get into our driveway if it snows a lot after we're gone.
I do have the boys clothes packed (except the ski pants and so forth) and the three of our laundry done - D will have to do his tonight.
It will be fine, and lots of fun, but I'm really, really stressed about the food, in particular.

Cooking for 12 is a challenge anyway, and then having to haul it all 3 hours away, and remembering that just because I don't always have to buy oregano for this recipe, because I have it, but I have to TAKE oregano is just more than I can deal with right now.
Sorry, it's not a horrible problem to have, I'm just not in the right mind set.
