tonight we're going out for my husband's birthday to a wine tasting dinner at a local restaurant. We're taking my son and DIL too. We've done them before and they really enjoy it and it will be decorated for the holidays so it will be festive too (really festive after about the 5th glass of wine:rolleyes:).
What fun! :thumbsup2 Happy birthday to DH.

Well, I successfully tested more first grade vision today. ;) I think I'm a fully qualified optometrist at this point.
Mitch is a qualified dentist after pulling so many teeth in Ecuador, because the dentist's arm was about to fall off after he pulled so many. :rotfl2:
The boys are cute and tend to want to buy gifts for each other, but we need to get that done, too.
How sweet. :goodvibes

After saying they were done looking at houses, one of the ones my sister saw was reduced, so it looks like they will be moving. Only 20 minutes, but still, it's not 2 like they are now. I'm just feeling sorry for myself, and I know they can't put their life on hold, but I wish they wouldn't move whilst Mitch is gone. Everything I've read says not to be upset in front of your soldier since they already have so much to worry about, so I better get my act together before he comes home. :upsidedow

I have decided to make a list of good things that will come out of him being gone, and so far I have
1. spending less money on groceries
2. less ironing to be done
3. he will make colonel much sooner

I'll keep thinking so I can add to my list. :thumbsup2

Angela- What about more days at Disney with friends? :cutie:
I'm sorry you're having a hard time. I would be too.

Dawn, that's funny you mention that because I was not going to renew my AP to save money. Then I decided I'm out there enough to make it worth while. Thanks!

Here are a few I've noticed when D's away for a while (not that it even BEGINS to compare...)

We create a lot less trash. :rotfl:
Dinner planning is much easier. ;)
Total control of the remote. :lmao:

Good luck! Thinking of you.

It'll give you something to look forward to. You can't drop that! It's a sanity thing! :thumbsup2

I'm hoping to see you in March. We have a few meals planned. You want in on any of them? We have tea with just us girls, CM's with Mel's family and Raglan for scallops and Strongbrow cider with Mel's family. Whatcha think? We can e-mail if you want. :goodvibes

Oh, you played Little House on the Prairie! :rotfl:
OMG, YES! :lmao: Except we did have electricity and a full kitchen, oh and the most important thing... real bathrooms! :teeth:

I'm getting one of those Clarasonic face cleaners on QVC. Yes, I am old.
Ahem. I got one last year. :snooty: ;) You'll love it! It's really great!:thumbsup2

 Do the kids know you are going:confused3
Ummm.... errrr... NOPE! They think we're going to ATL to visit some friends.:rolleyes1

Morning all :wave2: Work, doctor appointment for Jimmy at 5:15, then Jim is shopping tonight (nothinglike getting that shopping done early, eh?).
:lmao: I was at the mall earlier and saw TONS of hubby's doing their shopping.
Yes, I'm fine. I thought I would be alot more sore, but I'm not. My elbow got the worst of it. But I notice as you get older those things are harder to take :sad2:
Ouch! I read back that you had a fall.

Really! My idea of camping was in my in-laws old RV - with a microwave, tv, and a curling iron
:rolleyes1 I won't even do an RV. My brother wants to go RVing and I won't do it. :lmao:

Well, it's been an uneventful day, thankfully. Andy got word a few weeks ago that they would be laying off 10% of their work force beginning Dec. 15th. He's safe for now, they laid off 9 in his department alone, one of them was a good friend of his. Her last day is March 1st. I feel bad for her, but I'm grateful we're ok. :worship:

I've got to get ready for Girl Scouts...I'm keeping it simple tonight... just a few Christmas crafts and some cookies. :thumbsup2

Glad you are okay!

That sounds really good!

It was yummy and a great solution for left overs:thumbsup2

tonight we're going out for my husband's birthday to a wine tasting dinner at a local restaurant.

Sounds fun

but still can't believe Christmas is NEXT week!!! /QUOTE]

Thanks for the reminder:eek:

Janet, I think Quicken posts the states it serves (pretty sure it's all of them), and it adjusts the forms you fill out based on your state.

Good to know. Will check it out!

It's alwasy good to have a skill to fall back on:thumbsup2:lmao:

Definitely renew the AP!:goodvibes

Really! My idea of camping was in my in-laws old RV - with a microwave, tv, and a curling iron

See, this is why I only completed ROTC in college. They wanted me to do one of those weekend things. When I asked where I would have to go to the bathroom and where I would plug in the heirdryer they looked at me like I had three heads. Knew then that the Army just wasn't going to work for me:lmao:

Ummm.... errrr... NOPE! They think we're going to ATL to visit some friends.:rolleyes1

Do they know LL and crew moved there?

:lmao: I was at the mall earlier and saw TONS of hubby's doing their shopping.

Jim just called me becasue he was actually picking up something for my mom and wanted to make sure he was getting the right thing and he said it was surprisingly empty at the mall and at Target:confused3

My brother wants to go RVing and I won't do it. :lmao:

Jim does too:confused3 Must be a guy thing!

but I'm grateful we're ok.

Good news!:goodvibes

I've got to get ready for Girl Scouts...I'm keeping it simple tonight... just a few Christmas crafts and some cookies. :thumbsup2

The Cubs are caroling on Friday at an assited living place, so Jim is happy he doesn't have to plan anything. This will be there last meeting until after the holidays!

+++++++++++++++

Jimmy's class is going to see the Princess and the Frog on Tuesday, so I now have to take that day off so I can chaperone. Don't see how this is an appropropriate school trip:confused3 Only working Monday next wekk now. I don't know why they picked that. ALL of the boys are saying they don't want to see it, so it should be interesting. I wonder how many parents will just keep their boys home that day. They are scheduled to be back at school by 12:30 so I am thinking I might just take a half day and go to work in the afternoon...nah, probably not! Either way Jimmy will stay at school for the rest of the day, momma don't don't play that let's just sign you out early game;) I play by mother's rule...you only get to stay home if you are bleeding, vomiting. or have a fever. Shoot my mother sent me to school once with a broken arm (didn't know it was broken) and only took me to the doctor after the nun called her and said you probably want to come get her, her arm is turning blue:rotfl2:

Jimmy is in bed, Jim is at the mall:rolleyes:. I am putting my jammies on and going to watch Scrooge with Albert Finney!

Tomorrow is humo day:yay: See you all then!

Evening All!!! Had a good but busy day .First 2 meetings back to back , but both went well. Then it was our managers Xmas Party !! Lots of GOOD food !! Some portarican thingies that were good , stuffed mushrooms ,lots of shrimp,Beef on Wick !!and lots more !! I made a Sherry Trifle and there was cookies and a lot more desserts . Then it was me for the gift exchange !! I got chocolates and Tim Hortons gift card !!

Well it was a very long day. I was going to head to bed but I need to vent it out instead.

I went to work this morning, was almost late because of the trains, and didn't have my black sneakers for my "Costume" and they had to send me home as I only had white ones to wear. So i got back on the train and went home.

I did a small bit of shopping, got new sneakers for myself, a super soft xmas throw and some new xmas place mats for my coffee table. I did brave the post office too, so all my cards and packages have gone out.

I napped for a while and then KC came home. We started talking and I think I ma quiting Disney, tomorrow. I really am physically bad off these days, because of work. There are only 2 weeks left and after we discussed it, the amount of unemployment i might get if i stick it out isn't worth anything (maybe 30-40 a week, and only if i made a certain amount which i may not have). So i think I am done.

I know you guys will understand better than anyone how i am kind of upset about it. I know I am doing the right thing. i know KC is supporting me and it's really ok with him that I do this. But some part of me is sad about it and sad for having to quit. I really think it's only because it's Disney tho, any other job I wouldn't think twice.

So thats that. We have plans over the next few days so hopefully I will be able to keep busy and also search for a new job too. I really don't wanna get into the slump of not working again.

Thanks for letting me vent, it's late and I need to get to sleep!

Ugh. So, I was so pleased last night that D took the boys to tennis, right? Well, it appears he left Buzz's winter coat in the locker room - and this morning it's 24 but feels like 15. We layered him up in a fleece and a fleece lined windbreaker, and I'm sure it's going to be OK (they won't go outside anyway if it's this cold) but still. I hope D was planning to go workout, because my match is away and I don't want to trek over there.

Other than that, not much going on. Match is at noon - wish me luck!

BBL!

Wow, I'd fail miserably with that.:hug::hug:

Ugh, I'm so tired I can't see straight this morning. Had to take a double dose of allergy meds to keep from tearing my eyes out, they itch so badly, and it's totally wiping me out. :faint:

Nothing new here; just rolling along, waiting for Friday... happy Wed. everyone!

It's Wednesday:yay: The week is half over. Jimmy has half days the rest of this week due to report card conferences. TOmorrow is our office CHristmas party, so tonight when I get home I have to make 5lbs of potato salad and death by chocolate:love:.

I am trying to find a place to get Jimmy's haircut, the place we use to takehim to closed:headache: I may just see if the girl who cuts my hair can do his too.:confused3

Hope everyone has a good day:goodvibes

How about more QVC time:rolleyes1
:rotfl: But no money to buy anything!

I read this and thought why is a baseball team from Chicago caroling in Philly? :rotfl2:

I went to work this morning, was almost late because of the trains, and didn't have my black sneakers for my "Costume" and they had to send me home as I only had white ones to wear. So i got back on the train and went home.
Seems at the holidays even if they were annoyed, they would need you to work. :confused3

What is this you speak of? Sounds wonderful!

Still haven't wrapped anything! :rotfl:I still have 9 days though.
Whilst talking to my mother about having to give up my housekeeper and who knows what else, she comes up with the fact that I can visit them in Memphis any time I want. Because the money I'm not spending I'll use for a plane ticket and not living expenses.

Good Morning !!
Kat Do what is right for you both !!

Quiet morning !! Done dishes and laundry 2 things that are a constant in this house !!:lmao:
Anyone heard from Jo since V saw her ???
I,m planning a Tea Party on Saturday for the consumers :banana:My staff are into it and helping out which is nice !! So far the drama at work has settled down :worship: Holidays seem to be a stressful time for them as many of their families are not very involved and they get upset, which is understandable , but they don't quite deal with it in a normal way:eek:
Chat later !! Have a good one !!:yay:

Good point! What about a part-time job, say at Disney? Then you wouldn't have to put out the money for your AP;) becasue you get unlimited admission AND can take so many people in at a time 15 times. You would be great doing something like my mom does. A seater/greeter. No tips, but she really likes it!:thumbsup2

No, they think their WDW friends live near WDW. :teeth:

Jim does too:confused3 Must be a guy thing!

Humo Day, huh? :rotfl2:

That's a good idea. I used to cut most of my clients kids as well. It's so much easier for most people. Happy Humo day, Janet. ;)
FYI - Death by Chocolate sounds like a good way to go. ;)
 That's a relief especially near the holidays.
Tell me about it! :faint: He called me when I was at Macy's. I asked if I need to put my stash back.

Seems at the holidays even if they were annoyed, they would need you to work. :confused3

Disney's pretty hard core about your "costume". If you didn't have your name badge, you couldn't work. At DLR the CM's have a hidden stash and they just grab one to avoid being sent home.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Busy day today.... first I have to get the kids off to school...

BBL! :hippie:

Ugh, I'm so tired I can't see straight this morning. Had to take a double dose of allergy meds to keep from tearing my eyes out, they itch so badly, and it's totally wiping me out. :faint:

I'm sorry, honey.

I think he'd be going out if even if he wasn't planning too;)

He was planning on going anyway - but more below. :(

Hope everyone has a good day:goodvibes

You, too!

I read this and thought why is a baseball team from Chicago caroling in Philly? :rotfl2:

::yes:: That was my first thought, too! :rotfl:

 That's cold! So you can pick it up today?

D's going over to work out, so hopefully it IS still there. Mostly I trust the people at the club, but there's always the possibility of it getting taken.

Because the money I'm not spending I'll use for a plane ticket and not living expenses.

Well, of course!

Should have said scouts, not Cubs:rotfl2: BTW - did you hear that the Phillies got Halliday:banana:

Yes, and as a Cardinal fan, I'm slightly sad. :rotfl2:

Happy Humo day, Janet. ;)

:rotfl2: Oh, T...

****************************************************
Gah. So, D went to the basement to grab some workout clothes from the dryer and there was water all over the floor. Not from the washer, not from outside or the pipes - finally I looked over and noticed a totally full bucket under a relief pipe by the boiler.

"Oh," says D. We had been noticing a lot of air in the pipes (yep, forced hot water heat...) and so he apparently opened a valve about a week ago to try to get rid of the air. It worked, but for some reason last night, the water decided to stream out of the relief pipe every time the heat kicked on - and as it was cold... Well...

Anyway, he pounded the valve a bit more and it seems to be fine now, but he thinks the real problem is that the actual air release valve is corroded nearly closed. So, we probably have to have the oil guys come out. Now, luckily, we have them come every fall and prep and check it, and it's called "tank insurance" when we pay them for that, so I have high hopes that it won't be awful. D, however, is in a bad mood where everything is the worst it can be (fun, no?) and so he's sure it will cost an arm and a leg. I'm hopeful not - but this isn't the week for it, you know?

Anyway, he just headed out to the gym about 20 minutes ago, and then he's extra grouchy because he's so late "getting going on the day" and apparently feels the need to do more work-work today from Panera or whatever. Sigh.

I feel, to an extent - it's fixed now, there wasn't THAT much water, it's just not that big of a deal, but you know how that goes...

Then we're in the midst of confusion and carp over next week's tennis match. Long story, but it's supposed to be at our club on Tuesday. The league said as soon as the schedules came out that people could reschedule the Christmas week matches, but our home schedule is pretty hard to deal with as we have at least 4 other league teams to work around (when we're away, then someone's at home, etc.) and we as a team were totally fine and prepared - especially as the kids have school through the 23rd.

But the other team has only 4 who can come, and so we were going round and round to figure out if we could play the two doubles matches on the 22nd and then the singles match another time, when, how, etc. and it's all been flying e-mails and craziness.

Ooh, breaking news update - D has the coat! :rotfl2:

And now I really need to leave for my match, so I'll be back later! Bye!

Oh, CE... how I love reading your posts. Just when I think I'm the only one with a crazy life, you've gone and beat me! :rotfl2: LOVE YA!

Well it looks like everyone else is having crazy ridiculous days too!

So last night after I posted I set an email to my boss and my human resources person and resigned. :guilty: I still have to go back and bring my costume pieces in, so one more trip over there. I will prob head there one more time before it closes and take some pics, for nostalgia.

I tried to sleep late, didn't work. Mailman woke me up and then my BFF called this morning. I'm just trying to clean up some today. I get to carry a normal [purse today, not a bag with a whole other outfit in it, weird. Breaking out one of my Vera's!

I am also going to get a manicure! My sad fingernails need it. Plus I have had to wear flesh colored nail polish for 6 months and now i need some nice holiday red!

Headed to the city for the evening with my girlfriend and then home with KC later tonight. Tomorrow we have a full day. We are having lunch with Pants, headed to World of Disney to bring back my stuff, the MoMa for the Tim Burton exhibit and KC's holiday party at night. We may even squeeze in some ice skating in the park if we have time (esp. since it's free!). And Friday is Christmas Cookie day!

Have a great day everyone, maybe now I can stay caught up. LOL.
