BTW, CE - how's Buzz? And Janet, how's Jimmy?

BTW, CE - how's Buzz? And Janet, how's Jimmy?

Thanks for checking; he was so perky this afternoon (and ate lunch and an "after school snack") that we went ahead and took him to baseball. I hate doing that - I think it's the school sports drilled into me. If you didn't go to school, you didn't play. But, he loves school and didn't want to stay home, and he never had a fever all day, so...

He did his makeup work and he'll be in school tomorrow, so I guess it's not so bad.

The game was LONG and all the kids were dragging. Woody got overtired and emotional and worked up about all sorts of little things when we put him to bed. Poor kiddo. :sad2:

We didn't get home until 8:30 and then D & I didn't eat until nearly 9:30, so I'm feeling like it shouldn't be as late as it is, as we didn't start our "night" until so late.

I'd best get to bed. I think we're doing more bathroom work tomorrow, and then there's karate and my tennis match after school, so...

See you later! Sweet Dreams, everyone! :goodvibes

Just popped into say Good Night !! I have to see the surgeon about my Laser surgery tomorrow !!Wish me luck !!!

The salt water system is installed and I have added 10 70lb bags of salt to the water. By tomorrow everything should be good. :thumbsup2

Mitch thought we needed a new filter as well, and of course, the guy yesterday confirmed it. But it just so happens they are 25% off this weekend. ;)

I also signed the proposal for the new fence. Mitch wanted to do it in sections, but I just wanted to get it over and done with. Money that I'd rather not spend, but it will look very nice, and we desperately need a new one especially before hurricane season.

Just look at all the money I'm saving by not spending money on beer, bourbon or meat! :rotfl:

Lovely, was it expensive?
Thank you! And no, it wasn't expensive... for me. ;) The benefits of having your best friend be a stylist. It's pretty darned pricey normally: she charges $200 in a small city, but said she's seen it around $300-350 in LA.

Morning! Nothing new here - just wanted to pop in TFW land first... have a good Tuesday!

Thankfully that was quick.

::yes::

How much longer do you think it will take?

In actual working hours, or real world time? :rotfl: Truthfully, it should start to go quickly now. The "lowered" section of the ceiling (to cover the pipe in the back half of the room) has the drywall up. Covering up the small entry section should be quick - no holes to cut or anything, just screwing it to the joists, which were already up as it's the normal height for the house.

However, he does still have to tape and mud all that.

Then it's the walls, then the floor, then just reconnecting the sink/toilet. And he's good at all that and has done it before. But, though he was canceled on a trip from today-Friday, he's now gone at least Thurs/Friday, and he's airlining home and is really worried about them finding him a flight on the long weekend. So, of course, even if there's not a lot of work left, total work hours, it's going to take more actual time because of his schedule.

My parents called last night and have bought tix to come here on June 3rd - I'd like to have at least the toilet back in by then, but I don't know. It has to be after the floor, and so it will depend on what happens this weekend/early next week.

I am somewhat hopeful that all the drywall might get up today (even the walls) so that he could tape and mud tomorrow. We'll see. He is already working, rather than sitting around on the computer, so that should help. ;)
Just look at all the money I'm saving by not spending money on beer, bourbon or meat! :rotfl:

:rotfl: There you go...

Aw, I know how that goes!

Well, I made the mistake of saying that they had some standardized tests today, and then he got all worked up about that, too. He's very bright, but has a hard time with the timed math facts and stuff - he tries too hard to be perfect and therefore doesn't get as much done.

Then, he was upset about his batting, and his library book, and... He was just too tired. Everything was a tragedy. :sad2:

Morning! Nothing new here - just wanted to pop in TFW land first... have a good Tuesday!

Aw... :goodvibes Hope you have a great day!

Just popped into say Good Night !! I have to see the surgeon about my Laser surgery tomorrow !!Wish me luck !!!

Sorry, I had to go back and pick this up - thought I'd grabbed it before.
Good luck.

****************************************************
No problem getting Buzz to school today, but I did wind up driving them in. That game just went so late - I went in at our normal wake-up and they were both still zonked, so I gave them the half hour and drove.

It's my mom's birthday :goodvibes, so we called her on the way into school, and as I mentioned to Angela, she got flights last night to come in a week from Thursday. This is good - we've not seen them since Christmas, which is really long for my mom to go without coming out.

I'm starting to try to figure out if I can get to IL for my (gulp!) 20th high school reunion. I've not gone to any of the others, because truthfully, with a class of 39 and everyone but me and 2 others living within an hour of our hometown, I see anyone I want to see whenever I'm at my mom's. :rotfl:

But, one of the 2 others who lives away is career Army, and I've not seen him since college (we went to the same one.) They are in the process of an order change and will be in IL mid-July before heading to the new assignment in Hawaii, so that's when we're doing the reunion. I'd really like to see him - there were only 5 of us who took the advanced math and science classes, and he was the only guy - so I'm really wanting to go.

But, of course, D's vacation isn't until 2 weeks after that, filled up with the SMIL and the SSIL deals, so I'd have to go with the kids by myself. I feel bad leaving D in case he's NOT flying, and with the boat and all - but he says I should go if I want. I thought about flying, but the airfares are kind of ridiculous for 3 people, so... Looks like a drive alone, unless Mom can sneak back out on a flight to come drive with me. Ugh.

However, this should allow me to avoid the Chicago area altogether, which will make my trip so much easier. :rolleyes1 A quick in-and-out, to my mom's, for a specific purpose, means that I can't be suckered into half the week at MIL's. Right? :rotfl:

All right. I should go be productive. Have a great morning, everyone! :grouphug:

Morning all.

There have been too many posys sionce I have been on last so I'm not going to even try to comment on them. I hope all of you have been doing well. I have been keeping up when I can but my computer has been acting up again. Jim keeps telling me to buy a new one but I'm not quite there yet.

Baseball is suspended for a week. It seems that besides the parents and coaches cursing out the umpires, players in some of the older levels have been throwing temper tantrums and attempting to injure other players. The biggest problem occurred during the week when 2 teams began to fight, physically, and a 70+ y/o grandmother was hit in the face with a baseball bat. She needed stitches and had a broken nose. I am so happy my grandson's coach does not tolerate this behavior from his players. He actually threw one of his players out of the game sunday for throwing his glove at the fence because he was angry about a call. On the good note my grandson gets his cast off today and will be able to play when the league resumes.

The Flyers won last night and are headed to the Stanley Cup finals. :woohoo: I had a friend calling me to see if I could get tix to the game. My SIL gets offered them every now and then by suppliers. He didn't go to work yesterday and I doubt he would have been able to anyway. It would have been nice though.

I started my TR and as soon as I figure out how to post links I will. If you want to read it teh title is Can I Survive 5 days in Disney with my mother - a mother-daughter trip.
That's all for now. Have a good day all.

Good news !!The OB?GYN who is an oncology specialist also says Laser surgery is not needed !! I have to do some cream at home 5 days a month for 3 months YUCK!!!! But she was not concerned with the biopsy results so I am HAPPY!!!!

Salt water pools sound interesting !!!!!

Have to go to work will chat tonite !! Have a great day !! It is Sunny and warm here Yahooey!!

Well, I bit the bullet and cleared out the one side of the office closet. I found shelves online for $21 that were eligible for my amazon free shipping deal, and so I should have a relatively clear office floor in a few days! :thumbsup2 The gift bags have moved to a storage bin in the basement. I'm giving away a bunch of them on the freecycle site, as frankly if anyone has a baby or whatever, I mail direct from a store - I know no one locally in that stage. I kept a bag of Christmas and birthday bags, which is really all I need.

I still have to figure out what to do with the other half of the closet - it currently houses the towels for the downstairs bath (and will still have to - the bath is just small and doesn't have a closet) and the bedding for the sofa bed. Also, I'd like to leave a clothes bar on that side for when it does become the main guest room down the road. I may just have to go for more shelves, but lower, so people could still hang some clothes.

I still do need to mow, but D says he may need my help again. We'll see if it gets done today. :lmao:

Kyle has to cut a neighbors grass tonite and he picked up another regular grass cutting job !!!

Dude. I think I need meds.
:lmao:
You've got some serious funny going on, Mel.
Thanks. I was feelin' it....:rotfl:

I'm sorry, hon.
Thanks. It's ok. I know in the big scheme of things it could be worse, right? I"m just weary of it.

I've been to Wingaersheek out that way, but it was the summer before the kids came... I love to go into Gloucester, though - we often take visitors out there. Let me know when you'll be around - I wouldn't mind a beach day...
Ok, I'll pm you the dates. I haven't been to Wingaersheek. That's on the opposite "coast" of that little finger of land, right? I'd love to see you!

CE said:
Believe me, I've considered it. It's only the drive to the lake that we do all the time, anyway. I feel sure I'll need some tennis practice or something, that requires me to be home overnight. (Actually, quite truthfully, my actual level 2.5 team is looking really good for the summer league and we may be heading to the district tournament, so practice isn't a bad idea if that happens...):rotfl:
Well, there you go! :thumbsup2

CE said:
I did, long ago, but never got that into them. I think I may even have one on my shelf from the paperbackswap.com thing, as a recommendation. I'll have to take another look!
As with most authors, there are some that aren't as good as others. I really enjoyed Deep South. Give her another shot.
Glad the kiddo is on the mend, too!

 I didn't realize you were still going through this.
Thanks. It's pretty much a lifetime thing, I think. :confused3

The pool people are to be here this afternoon, and my new best friend Megan at the pool store, found a coupon to give me 25% off instead of 15%. I guess if you spend lots of money there, they entice you to spend more.
Yep. That was nice of her though!

Yeah, you know becasue I have all that extra time:rolleyes: Sidewalk Chalkis a great idea. I was going to do sand buckets, but they are a bit over our budget, even at oriental traiding, so I gfound some really cute gift bags with a beach theme on on them
What about inflatable beach balls? We did those for a party favor one time, and they are only $1. We flattened them out, used permanent marker to write each kids name (in a fun way) and then folded them back up. They were a big hit!

So I have a sick (sort of) kiddo at home. The nurse called and said he was complaining of a stomache ache. And he felt warm. She said no fever, but since he not normally a complainer she called me. I bought him home and he seems fine. He is not vomiting and no fever, so I am hoping all is a go for his classs trip tomorrow. [I have a feeling that he might be a bit constipated as he didn't go yesterday or today.] He will be so disappointed if he can't go.
Hope he's much much better now!

It leaves hair really smooth and healthy, too. I can't recommend it enough!!
I am very interested but I think the price might be prohibitive!

See below but our car showed a temperature of 98 today
WOW! That is amazing, Jo. I had no idea it could ever get that hot there.

Good girl. I bailed this morning, on the gym AND Dr. Seigel. I just didn't feel well, and couldn't imagine dealing with ALL of it at once. Of course, by 9 am I felt guilty and by 10 am I had rescheduled the Dr and did a small workout at home. LOL

Like I said above, I decided to just hang out here today. Last night Gus had a Spring Band Concert at the High School and it didn't end until 9:30 pm. I am not sure WHAT time these people put their children in bed, but poor Gus was a wreck. :headache: What makes them think that keeping kids up till 10 pm on a school night is a good idea?????
It's been really hot again here. I think I'll need to water the grass too because it's looking pretty thirsty. :scared: I cannot recall ever seeing the grass that dry in May. Strange.
Is everyone glad we have a three day weekend? I know I am! I think we are going to try to get the small veggie plants into the garden this weekend. Yay!!!! I can't wait to have fresh produce again.

Well, nothing too exciting here. Gotta go get the boys in about an hour. Then home to make some dinner. My life is so boring. Sorry. :rotfl:

That sounds nice! D just found out that he's not able to get back until Saturday afternoon. We're doing a 50th birthday neighborhood party for our neighbor, but then don't have other plans. It is of course not supposed to be near as warm when we could get to the lake Sunday or Monday.

They did that when my kids were in school. I could never understand it.

I am very glad to be having a 3 day weekend. It means no kids. :woohoo: I love them but I relly like having a break. I tried the veggie garden this year but the ground was so wet it rotted the roots on all of my plants. I don't know if I want to bother now.

We have a whole ceiling, and he's measuring for walls now!:banana::banana:

Congrats on the ceiling. We had work done at the house last year and I was so thrilled whenever a section was completed. Thankfully we had a friend of our son doing the work,we had to pay but he gave us a great discount, but it was done so much faster than if my DH did it. It is so nice when it is all finished.

Holy cow - I walked the dog, with the intent of finally mowing once I got that done. However, when I went outside, I could actually, truly see the clouds of yellow pollen coming down through the air.

Ick!

Hmm, Leo had a similar situation a couple weeks ago. Hope he feels better soon!

Hope it's a lot of nothing.

He seemed fine so we went to his OT appointment and was fine. Camhome and ate 2 pieces of toast, so bread with butter, soup and ice cream...so I figured he was fine:rotfl: I think he was a bit nausous (sp?) from post nasla because of his allergies.

Afternoon:goodvibes Had Jimmy's class trip this morning to the zoo. The kids had a ball but I wanted to leave some of the parents in with the lions. Jimmy's teacher wouldn't let me:sad2: They sent a note home telling everyone that there should be no shopping or any of the extra stuff becasue not all the children may have money and it wouldn't be fair to all the kids. I had no problem with it, but I can't tell you how parents went ahead and did it anyway:sad2: Additionally they said, in order for school district insurance to cover your child in case there was an accident or soemthing (thankfully nothing happened) that the children must arrive to the zoo on the bus and return to school on the bus. I had to step in when one of he mothers started giving Jimmy's teacher a hard time because she couldn't just take "johnny" home. Mrs. Cmiel explained to her that the child would be marked absent if he did not return to school. She starting freaking out becasue Johnny has perfect attendance...blah, blah, blah. So then she said well, I am just taking him and you can't mark him absent becasue he has already been marked present this morning. That's when I steped in. I asked her if she sined the permission slip for "Johnny" to attend the trip she said yes. I said then he will be marked absent (The permission slip clealy states the rules) and that I would be the one to tell Mr. Graff that she refused to comply with the rules. She didn't like that too much. The kid got on the bus, then we are in the gift shop (went back after the kids were on the bus ;)) and she was in there on her cell phonecomplaining lously about the b*&^h sho was going to rat her out if she took the child home. I then pulled out my cell phone and called the principal and informed him what happened. I think I have a leg up when I have his cell phone number, no? The look on her face when she heard me say "Mr. Principal":lmao:

Now we are just waiting for Jim to get home from his interview. We are having spaghetti and chicken parm for dinner.

Hope you are all having a good one!

Your class was small compared to mine. There were over 800 in my graduating class.

What is it with parents that think they can make the rules or totally ignore the ones they agree to? :confused3 I swear there are more and more people who think that the rules don't apply to them. They actually have the school police officer stand right in front of the school at dismissal because the parents all think they can park there. No parking signs all along the street. They actually argue with the cops that they can't get a ticket for being there. My granddaughters school is on Academy road, to those of you not from Philly it's a major roadway. When I worked at my kids school as the crossing guard I was hit by a car 3 times because the drivers didn't want to wait for me to get out of the way. They had to race to the red light at the next intersection. :rotfl2:
