Well, thought I'd grab a moment and post some vacation memories........
We went to DESTIN, Florida which is in the panhandle on the Gulf side. (no relation to the aforementioned Diaper ointment!)
If you've never seen this side of FL, it's called the "Emerald Coast" for it's pretty aquamarine waters and sugar white sand.
Here's some of my favorite pics of the 9 days....

What :scared1: no fanny pack at the beach.
Your girls are gorgeous, I would be giving the evil eye to all the boys in the neighborhood.

Hi everyone....We are back from the World and I am :sad2: I am also very tired. The plane was 2 hours late leaving this morning and so we wound up getting in around 6:00 instead of 3:00. :headache: I will catch up with everyone over the weekend and start my TR too.

Janet
Sorry you are sad. I guess that means you had a great trip though. 2 hour delay, I would go nuts.

C.E. the kitchen is gorgeous! Great job! :thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes I'm starting to get used to where I've rearranged things... :rolleyes1

Thanks! We all ended up going to the football game last night--I moved away from this area in 1990 and have lived all of the US, so it was strange to go back to my alma mater.........and see them get beat again by our local rival! Stranger still, we are planning to buy season passes. (somewhat cause I stressed the whole evening over my teen sitting too close to someone she is just "talking" too......then I called her 3 times when she left her seat and followed her to the concession stand! Am I over reacting?? And whas is "we're not dating, just talking now" ???:confused3

Oh.......and I had taped Princess Diaries 2--so BA and I fell asleep watching it! We have taped HS musical 2 (and the sing-a-long) so I pretty much have it memorized now!

Oh, dear... This is where I'm a little happy that it's all boys in my house... ;) and that they're 5. One of them is already engaged, though... :rolleyes1 :lmao:

And, I wound up my night with Grease, so my viewing was superb! :dance3:

Hey all, Stitch's 4th Birthday is on Saturday. We are having his party at the local zoo on the 9th with his friends from school, but we are having family over on his actual birthday. We are BBQing (simple - burgers and dogs), but I need some ideas for some sides to go with. I am tired of potato salad and pasta/macaroni salad. ANy ideas for me. I need help Fockers.

Thanks
JM

Is the BBQ for the zoo party or the family party? How many folks and ages??

We tend to have the same things all the time too. But, we really love our homemade creamy coleslaw. I don't care what kind of party we are having, we always have to have that.

If you want to get a bit fancier with a side, how about a spaghetti with pesto sauce and cocktail shrimp. It's yummy!

you could do more of an hors d'oeuvre....I make something called green bean bundles, which are green beans wrapped in bacon. Delish! Let me know if you want the recipe

It's the family party. 10 people. 8 adults, 2 kids
You could do some nice fresh fruit and veggie sides--watermelon boats are fun for the kids, "ants" on a log are good too. My family wouldn't be happy without baked beans.

Found this article when I searched online:
For side dishes, mayonnaise-laden salads often have the same amount of fat as fried foods, like French fries or potato chips. How about swapping the fries for a potassium-rich baked potato? Or sidestepping the macaroni salad for a light, leafy lettuce salad, grilled asparagus or corn on the cob? For dessert, make fruit kabobs with cantaloupe, strawberries and peaches. Filled with antioxidants and vitamin C, they’ll give you an energy boost at the end of your feast.

My kids like kabobs of anything!

Hi all! My internet access went down Friday afternoon and just came back on last night. A truck ran off the road, flipped over and landed on the main telephone box thing. No one in my neighborhood had phones or DSL. One neighbor told me she uses Earthlink and they told her they have to reinstall more stuff and they won't be up for 2 more weeks.

We did fruit kabobs for Buzz & Woody's birthday, and they were gone in a flash (all kids, though.)

I like to either saute or grill (in foil) sliced potatoes tossed with a little olive oil and garlic. Not so healthy, but different than potato salad. My mother-in-law also does zucchini and yellow squash roasted in olive oil (either oven in a casserole dish or grilled in foil) with parmesan on top - yummy. :)

No kidding!!! I'm in! :cool1: That all sounds fabulous.

(OK, too much on my mind. Everyone up for karaoke?)

I need fabulous!
Iced tea imported from England (Jo?)
Lifeguards imported from Spain.
Towels imported from Turkey,
Turkey imported from Maine (I don't get this, but I can get it!)

Oops, double post. Darn server. :)

What's everyone up to this evening?

DH should be home later on, but the boys and I have had dinner. So now we're just hanging out. It finally cooled off up here. The schools around here are starting tomorrow, but the kindergarteners aren't going until next Tuesday, so we have another week to go!

Well, we (the boys and I Dh not home from work yet:mad: )are in the playroom watching a Little Bear movie and transforming some transformers. This is hard to do BTW, I dont know how DS5 can do it himself!!
Schools start here Sept 6th so a little more than a week. DS5 will start Kindergarten also.;)

It doesn't help me that our gym closed its daycare room for the week for "maintenance." Why they do this when schools are only in for 2-3 days this week (almost everyone is also taking Friday for the long weekend, which I really don't understand) and yet there's no camp or kids programming at all this week either, I will never know. That's usually good for an hour or two of entertainment, as well as my waistline. ;) My kids have been playing with the neighbors a lot, but the neighbor kids are in first grade and therefore starting back in now. Sigh. Sorry, I'm just feeling sorry for myself. ;)

I am thankful we don't have any Transformers, I can't imagine having to deal with them! :)
