Morning! Sadly, yet another night with less-than-fulfilling sleep. I HATE Daylight Savings Time. :headache:

In other news, I pushed the button and booked our 3 pre-DVC nights for the summer trip and have been going through the All Ears restaurant list, putting together ideas.

Here's some craziness... Leo goes off on this dissertation about guns this morning - explaining the attributes of pistols, vs. shotguns, vs. rifles, vs. dart guns, etc. :scared1: I quickly asked where he'd obtained such information and he said "from a book at school." :scared1: :scared1: SAY WHAT?!?!?! WTH kind of school keeps a book about guns in a first grade classroom?! I'm hoping it was some kid's book that got mixed in with the school books, but you better believe I'm sending a note of inquiry to the teacher. :sad2:
:scared1: That's so scary!

Morning, Ladies!

Well, since DD7 couldn't go to school today, I slept in! :cool1: :cool1:

Not much planned for today. A trip to Wal-Mart later to pick up a prescription for DH and a few things and that's it. :thumbsup2 Otherwise, I'm going to try to clean and get the GERMS out of my house!!!!!!! :scared1:

~~~~~~~
Dawn - sorry to hear about your kids' struggles. The only time I've lived away from Eric after our kids were born is for six months in 2002. He worked in Pittsburgh (6 hour drive) for six months and came home every other weekend. DD7 was between 9 mo and 15 mo during this time, so it was rough! My respect grew mightily for single moms during this time! I was never so happy as the day that job ended and he was able to find work here! Keep the faith! It will all work out quickly, I'm sure!
V - I would definitely ask about that book. Our school has lots of "non-fiction" books about a lot of different subjects, but I'm not sure guns is on the list for first graders!
Janet - It's definitely been a lot quieter around here lately! What's going on? Where have you been? We miss you!
Tracy - I see your ticker! Is there something I don't know??? Have your plans changed????
Kristel - I :worship: to your superior updating skills!
Rosie - I had a bi-polar roommate in college. She did the same thing. I've never been told that I was loved and hated in the same breath since!:rotfl:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope everyone has a great day! I'll check in between chores!

Hi everyone!! I hope to catch up, thanks Kristel :thumbsup2 and start posting more. All of my time has been taken up lately with a new ticker site that Scott purchased for Enchanted. I had to strip it and work some magic on it . I got done tonight finally . Now I can get back to chatting .

We need a link!!!!

:snooty:

Janet - It's definitely been a lot quieter around here lately! What's going on? Where have you been? We miss you!

:faint: Are you freaking kidding me. Forget the note, I would have been on the front porch of the school first thing this morning:headache: :headache: Let us know what the response is!
Well, I'm trying to decide how to go about it - it's possible Leo meant a book he'd seen while at school; could be some other kid's book, y'know? I want the teacher to be aware in any case, though, and I'm always better in writing. ;)

Not me - I've got a quiet day today!

Hang in there Janet! :hug:

V - I understand about doing better in writing than in person. I get flustered when trying to say something when I'm upset about it too. In fact, I'm attempting to write an email right now and getting a bit flustered.

My DD7 has been reading chapter books since before kindergarten. She is also already done with the second grade math standards (timed tests for addition and subtraction) and has moved on to multiplication already. Our school system has a self-contained gifted and talented classroom for 3rd graders. The selection process is pretty standardized. Every second grader takes an achievement test and then another test that is sorta an IQ test. Then, letters are sent out to kids that initially qualify based on these test scores and they are given more tests.

Anyway, these letters were sent out on Friday and I was very surprised to not receive one. Granted, DD7 did not do very well on the achievement test in January, but it was her first attempt at such a test. And some kids just don't test well, right? The fact that she's ahead of every student in her class and is bored to tears should count for something, right?

So, parents are allowed to request their child be given the further testing. All of my friends were very surprised that we did not receive a letter and have urged me to request the testing. Eric & I discussed it last night and have decided that we're going to request the testing, but if she doesn't qualify after that, we'll leave it alone.

Anyway, I'm attempting to write an email to the principal to request the testing, but I'm not sure how much I should put in it.... I've heard that they have to test your child if you request it, so I guess I don't need to put much explanation in it?? Any ideas??

You know I wish I could! But no Leo then. :sad1:

I know. Just teasing you. I wish I could tack a frew days onto the front end of mine!:sad2: Next time for sure:hug:

:ssst: You'll have to wait for that part in my PTR! ;)

Tease:headache:

Good point. The teacher should definitely know about it though ::yes::

Not me - I've got a quiet day today!

So do I. Despite this people keep walking into my office:mad:

Hang in there Janet! :hug:

Thanks V:goodvibes

If you want me to, I can ask Jim (as a teacher) how he thinks a letter like that should be worded!

By the way.... does everyone like my new ticker????? :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I LOVE IT Jodi... Still trying to work on a plan so I could go.. however I would NOT BE ALONE:headache:

I knew that SOMETHING has been interfering with your presence here.. been missing you.:guilty:

:faint: Are you freaking kidding me. Forget the note, I would have been on the front porch of the school first thing this morning:headache: :headache: Let us know what the response is!

I don't think something like that would upset me.It is ONLY A BOOK. And very possibly belongs to a kid in the room. I have had things to upset me with the schools .Do not shoot the propaganda, and the Political Correctness at my kids. Give them the Things they NEED to survive in this world. We all know that Guns are not allowed at school.. but is there really anything wrong with KNOWING about something that our kids may never even see in the first place??
The way things are going, The only people that will have guns will be those that are criminals anyway. Law abiding people will have them taken from them .

I own several guns of various types.. that's no suprise to any of you. I do not use them for target practice ( but sometimes I wish I could) and I would NEVER consider using them for no good.They were my Dad's he hunted with many of them. For me they are Memories.. and some form of Protection.
They are Locked away in such a place it is a real pain to get to them. Ammunition is NO WHERE NEAR THEM.. but I can get to it should I need it.
NEEDING IT involves someone breaking into my house.. and threatening me and my kids. I would not want to use it.. I would aim to wound, first.. but I will protect my home and my family.

I would not want my school teaching how to fire them ... just like I do not like the fact they allow Bows and Arrows( yup real ones) to be used for PE.
That sounds like an accident waiting to happen. I did voice my displeasure... however... :headache: .

Well, I ended up just writing a one-line email to the principal asking if I needed to write a hard copy letter requesting that DD7 be tested or if this email will suffice. I also told her to let me know if she needs any more information. Figure simpler is better, right?

Drive by post, hi everyone, I hope you are having a great day.

I decided I better not put a link to the ticker site, I don't want to get into any trouble. Just click the ticker in my siggy if you want to check it out!

Sorry. I know I'm being a baby, but I don't like it when stuff messes with my family.
I'm done. I don't want to think about it until after we get back. :idea:
Not silly, it must be very hard, just try to see the light at the end of the tunnel :hug:

On a happy note....

I got a voucher for a free ticket to Universal Orlando:yay: :yay: :yay: I never got an email saying I had won, but they sent me a survey asking me questions about the Super Bowl Commercial and today the free ticket voucher came. Thats $101 off my Universal bill:yay: :yay: :yay:
Woooohoooo

Wait...does that mean I do all the talking:headache:

:rotfl2: We didn't play a match yesterday!

Well it was an interesting night !!!!:scared1: Had to break up a little fight between 2 of our people !! Was sworn at told I was hated !! Then said they really loved me !! and 2 minutes later was sworn at truck driver style !!! I checked to see if it was a full moon!! But I pay no heed to it ,we all have our bad days and these people are usually wonderful soo they're intitled to bad days too!!!:hug:
