Team Focker Watch Chat Part 3

Thanks for the welcome! What are your plans for the 14th, 15th and 16th? The 14th DH and I will be in Epcot, 15th we will be in DHS & the 16th in Epcot. I wanna try my best to meet as many DISers as I can :)
Well most of the 14th will be spent over the Atlantic ocean :rotfl2: Once we arrive it'll be almost time to crash due to the time difference. We're then at Epcot on the 15th and MK on the 16th. You never know though, keep an eye out for LGMH's and TFW lanyards :thumbsup2

You could always send Katt over to get those pesky birds! :lmao:
 Luckily we have really strict gun laws here, phew :rotfl2:

I'm on it !! I've got several different "heaters"All sizes and Kick"s.. how many at the "Party"? Anybody need a "Doublebarrel Shot gun ??:goodvibes

It's just getting them out of the country that's gonna be the tough thing.

Hey everyone! It was a loooong day yesterday! We met up with one of my oldest friend's, in from California, and her husband. We took them to the museum of Natural History, Walked through central park (all the way across it actually), 5th ave shopping, times square and went down town for dinner. We really got use out of our one day unlimited metro cards! It was a great day tho! I am exhausted today, and sore and KC is sick again. I am making him some homemade chicken soup, he is pretty bad off. I feel much better, just a slight sniffle left!

Anyways...how's everyone else doing??? The User CP is actin' a fool again so I didn't get much look at what everyone else posted....I miss anything good??

I don't know if you guys know this, but I worked at Bear Stearns for 7 years (the investment bank that's been in the news for going under) . I left in 2001 and it was very hard to leave, I actually cried walking out the building that last day. I made some of the greatest friends there and many still work there. I had lunch with one today and it is just heartbreaking talking to these guys. Many have been there 10, 15, 20 years. I actually was asked to go back there a few times over the years, but Wall Street is a tough business and I just couldn't face those hours/demands again. But it truly was a wonderful place with so many wonderful people. Not everyone who works on Wall Street is a Gordon Gecco (though the guy that ran BS Jimmy Cayne, was:sad2: He tried to get a deaf guy fired for not hearing him:mad: )

My heart is just breaking for these people that have lost so much, even I feel the loss and have been gone 7 years. One woman was just a few years from retirement and now can't even think about it, many have kids coming up on college. It's just so sad that the greed/stupidity of a few have ruined the lives of so many.

We Understand that too. Scott worked for 2 of the 3 BIGGIE SCANDLE Companies... "Worldcom and Adlephia" ( never worked for ENRON)

Long story Shorter... Scott had all our eggs in the Worldcom Basket..( stocks, IRA, etc... all in World com) one day, we were worth worth over $500,000 at the rate we were increasing... in 5 more years we would be Millionairs.. Scott Rode out the Stock Market... and rode that horse till it died.

Did a similiar thing at Adelphia.. (though not as much worth... ) Lost that too. I practually begged him to pull out espically at Worldcom.. he and a lot of others lost EVERYTHING. Some very close to retirement.

On another Thread I expressed my empathy to a family involved with Stearns.. as we had been there done that ourselves.
We now work for ourselves... He works out of the house.. keeping down expenses... and after 6 years.. we are finally doing allright. Gas and Health Insurance is killing us.. but business have to have Telephones and Internet to survive. To cut expenses they will look for reliable cheaper options. Prayerfully and cautiously optimistic that we will ride out any recessions.

Hi everyone! Thanks for your hugs and well wishes for Murphy.
Brought her to her Vet Appt and shes lost another 10 lbs, took more blood, her white cells were high, the Dr thought maybe cancer, she was very anemic. So she gave her a new antibiotic for the weekend. brought her home and told Ben, he was having a real hard time with the possible outcome, so we took them out for a bite to eat to get his mind elsewhere. didnt work,,he cried through dinner. poor thing,,When we came home Ben was the first one in the house, and Murphy had lied down on the kitchen floor and died..:sad1: she looked like she was just resting like normal. She was ready to go..shes happy now, I wonder if she waited for us to leave..she was very peacfull. kids are doing okay now. We had time with her before Steve brought her out to the shed with her bed..tomorrow he and his friend will find a nice spot in the back yard..
Thank you again everyone! :grouphug:

Oh, Carrie. I am so sorry. I'm sitting here at my computer crying for you and your family. I can only guess what you're going through. Please know that I'm praying for you!

I'm sooory. My heart aches for all of you.. but espically Ben. A lot of times the loss of a pet is their first brush with death.

On the Farm... some animals will go off and die alone. But sometimes they try very hard to be around other animals or Humans. Do not know what Murphy was thinking. Maybe.. just the coolness of the floor, or the many smells that she loved coming from the kitchen.

I hope none of you.. especially Ben , feels like you abandoned Murphy. Having been there as an animal ( and a parent) leaves you.. is much worse than hearing they are gone or finding them. I have to believe GOD did what was best for all of you. He cares.. even about a family and it's pets.

Kathy

Thanks. Shes happier now. We`ll have to wait and see what happens with Ben. hopefully he`ll be o.k, Murphy was 5 weeks when we got her. Ben was 1. Maybe I`ll post a picture of her..

Oh Carrie - poor baby Murphy - but like you said, she is happy now. Makes me remember the loss of my dog when I was about 8 or 9. Very difficult - I swore I'd never own a pet again and I wouldn't let me parents get me a new pet, until about 7 years ago, DH bought me a kitty. I still think of that dog and get teary eyed. I'm so sorry. :grouphug:

Mo, my Dh is an SMD at Bear, and has been there for 11 years (small world). the bank went down from unfounded rumors perpetuated byt he media leading to a run on the bank. It isn't being portrayed like that, but Bear didn't go down due to their greed, but due to people losing faith and pulling their money out, leading to lenders revoking Bear's credit and calling the loans. Bear didn't have the assets on hand to pay off those debts, and was going to have to start selling off assets.

That's actually why the Fed stepped in. The bank wasn't brought down by mismanagement, and actually posted a PROFIT last quarter. The run ruined the bank. :headache: I have been calling it media terrorism....start an unfounded rumor, and create a self-fulfilling prophecy. Repeat on next bank....

JPMorgan is going to make a KILLING on this deal.

Right now, we have no idea whether or not DH still has a job (He should find out in the next few weeks). As I know youa re aware, investment banks make it very difficult to sell company stock, so we have a GREAT DEAL of Bear stock....we had tons of options DH got for bonuses since Bear went away from Cash bonuses. Most of our "cushion" is gone. If he is fired, he needs to get another job quickly, as we don't have the money to live off of for more than a few months without liquidating much of our remaining holdings.

This has been a NIGHTMARE. He and I have been stressed to no end. I'm really sorry your friends are goign through this also.
