Had my ortho appointment today, and it wasn't good. I'm a little blue right now. I have an another appointment tomorrow. Wholly crap braces are expensive! :faint:

Whoa ....I can feel your pain. All three of our kids had to have braces and my DH has had three implants done with a fourth one on its way....totally sucks!

Good luck today!

T,

Good luck at your appointment today. Are you getting another opinion? Or seeing the same ortho? I took #1 in two years ago and two guys were talking major stuff...plates and spacers, teeth pulling, yuck. One went so far as to say if I didn't do something immediately that he'd have nerve damage as an old person and would have to get all his teeth pulled (isn't that what happens anyway???) A third guy was like "yeah, he'll need them, but standard braces." Then I went to the Medical University dental school because I was so confused and the guy there said he'll be fine with a retainer. :confused3 It's all very confusing. Hang in there.

Ditto on the Braces Pain! My DS has them right now. 7K!! He had a spacer for 6 months and then they put them on. The ortho we chose was more $$ but he was the most intelligent! Some of the others were giving us the "pull tons of teeth, blah blah) I didn't want to do that to him if we could avoid it.
Our ortho said with the new technology in spacing..etc..they don't need to pull teeth like they used to. I can tell you, in only 6 months my son's teeth are amazing. He has had almost NO pain. Except for the first couple days with the spacer. :goodvibes

If you think another opinion is in line, definitely go with one.

For now though, for you!

--------------------

Morning Everyone! I'm not going to be around much today. I was about to put my pork loin into the crockpot with some terriyaki sauce and when I opened it, it SMELLED awful! I am SOOOOOO ticked off right now I could spit nails! I have to drive 15 miles to the DING DANG store to return it (and by the way, that's almost 3 gallons of gas!=12$$$) and then come home and clean my house. So, time just got shorter.... What is the issue with the grocery stores lately? I am so irritated. Food costs a fortune and this is the 2nd or 3rd thing I've had to return in recent history! :furious:

I am looking that beast in the face. We are going to make an attenpt at braces for Joshua. It will be incredibly slow if we can do this at all. I am fearful that we will have to pull at last ONE which we will have to sedate for.
Then the rest will be a few bands at a time probably.. and not much tighteneing at all. We will see in July 3.
Yikes $7,000. I was prepared for 4,000:faint:

morning all!! thanks for the  . i feel much better today. slept until 2pm yest, then cleaned. it makes me feel better for some reason ? weird, i know. :confused3

ce--have fun in paris, when do you leave?

v- finally saw the dress, sooo cute!! definately red bag.

kat-- luv the dress.

t-- nice car!!

can't remember everything else, but hi to everyone.

oh yeah, i agree with the talk about the kid thing. we have a couple of kids in the neighborhood. i swear their parents have no idea where they are half the time. they'll be at our house playing. it's like 8pm and dark out. i tell them they have to leave bc time for showers and bed. i just can't believe from 5-8, no parent calls, comes over, or is concerned about where their child is!!!! or concerned about dinner, bc we feed them when they're here. it's crazy. one time the mother called to see if her son was at our house (he wasn't) she had no idea where he was. :scared1:

---------------------------------------------------------------

have to go to grocery store today, i just went on sunday, but i'm out of soy milk , regular, milk and bread. supplies go fast with 3 kids !! :faint:

my ds 2 is clingy and whiny today. i can't even go to the potty without him following me. :headache: it's going to be one of those days !!
okay someone have the magiritas handy at 530, i'll be ready for them!! (that's when my dh gets home and i can relax)!!!!!!

Good morning, Fockers.
Mmmm... margartitas do sound good tonight! Too bad I don't have any. :worried:
We have a full day ahead here. I want to do some cleaning, art projects, and help B practice for her try-outs today. Busy, busy! What's everyone else up to? :confused3

Good Morning Fockers! :wave2: Quiet this morning, eh?
Where the heck is Jo? Doesn't her dad have internet?? ;)

I'm getting a 2nd opinion - with a specialist this time. My appointment yesterday was with a "newbie" and I didn't feel confident with him. He read my x-rays completely different than my general dentist and I lost my mojo with him, KWIM?

7K!?!? I was whining about $4500! My insurance doesn't cover - does any dental ins cover ortho anymore? :worried:

I give you mad props for taking it back.:thumbsup2: I'd probably just throw it away. :(

Ack! I know how you feel, Rachel! My DS was the same way at that age, he's almost 4 now. He's still pretty clingy - my family calls him "Velcro Boy". I can't shower or use the potty without him either sitting at the door or sitting on the floor in the bathroom with me.

Any chance of visiting on a Wed. or Fri. evening? We did this and it was a GREAT time - no crowds, no lines!

Hmm, yes. I fly from Nice to Paris on Wed. and get in mid-afternoon. I'll be in Paris through Sunday, so... Thanks!

Can you believe we skipped Versailles?! What can I say - it was late Nov., it was snowing and we'd already taken the train to Chartres for a day. It's on my Must-See list for the next trip. :thumbsup2

I did Versailles for a half-day in 1998. I liked it. :thumbsup2

If you have any interest in modern art, I can't reccomend the Pompidou Center enough. It ties with Notre Dame as my favorite sight. Also, Sainte Chapelle on Île de la Cité is fantastic - the most gorgeous stained glass. They hold organ and vocal concerts there, which would be a treat.

Excellent - I knew about St. Chapelle but didn't go last time. We did see Notre Dame.

Another recommendation, Rick Steves' walking tours. You don't need his books, though they're great, just click here and look for the walks. We did the Historic Walk Parts 1 and 2, and the Marais Walk. Both were chock-full of both tourist sights and daily-life in Paris.

I saw his books but ended up buying Frommer's. They have some walking tours, too, but I'll check these out. D likes to walk.

If you have the time and are in the St. Germain des Pres neighborhood, check this wine shop out. The owner is an American ex-pat and will expertly asssit with your selections and ship them. Great prices and WONDERFUL wines! :thumbsup2

Thanks, I printed that! We LOVE wine. :goodvibes

Chic? Me?! I'm feeling terminally suburban at the mo, so thanks for making me feel less like a Mom-blob! That said, I've never felt less chic than when I was in Paris! :rotfl2: I think the oufits you posted are pefect - A trench coat or the like might be a good idea, and black pants are always in style. And a scarf, tied jauntily. Don't bring one - the fun is in buying one there. ;) If you can fit them, sneakers might be a good idea - especially if you'll be doing a lot of walking.

I'm so excited for you! Promise to say "Bonjour!" to Paris for me?

Yep, you're chic! :) Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will throw in sneakers (I have a cute newish pair of Skecher pull-ons with rhinestones, even, so they're kind of fun!)

I will definitely say Bonjour for you!

Ok the clothes are Bale free...

Most likely I will keep these but you never know... I have been known to return things at a moments notice!!! ;)

They look great!

I worked at my ds's school. Finished my year long project~ Scrapbooking a page a month for every student. Phewww. :faint: There are 17 kids in his class x 10 months = 170 scrapbook pages completed! :cool1:

Oh, dear lord. Nice work!

CE - you should try to go to Versailles, it really is unbelievable.
Oh and there is Napolean's tomb (if you are a history geek like me), not far from the Eiffel Tower, I am pretty sure we walked it. (Murph fell asleep there when she went to Europe after graduating college, she was hungover, anybody surprised, yeah didn't think so:lmao: )
Oh I know, V help me here, the artist area near Sacred Heart. I had a portrait done there when I was 16, Murph still has it hanging up in her place.

I liked Versailles in 1998. We should be staying right near Napolean's tomb area - Hotel d'Invalides? We are on the "side avenue" from the Eiffel Tower, and I believe those are both in the 7th.

And Lessa already answered, but I think you meant Montmarte as well. I had a charcoal portrait done there, myself. It didn't look much like me, but hey. :rotfl:

CE, have fun in Paris, baby! :woohoo:

Had my ortho appointment today, and it wasn't good. I'm a little blue right now. I have an another appointment tomorrow. Wholly crap braces are expensive! :faint:

Thanks, but I have a few days left to wait. ;)

I'm sorry about the ortho - was it bad?

So, time just got shorter.... What is the issue with the grocery stores lately? I am so irritated. Food costs a fortune and this is the 2nd or 3rd thing I've had to return in recent history! :furious:

Ooh, yuck. Sorry.

ce--have fun in paris, when do you leave?

Thanks, not until Saturday evening, though I'm catching an airport shuttle around 3:00 p.m.

I hope your day gets better!

So, ugh. I cleaned up the porch yesterday for playgroup and the company, and whilst I was using the wand/rotator brush attachment, I guess I was having the main vacuum part (it's a cheap upright) on the cord. I nearly severed it, yup, broken vacuum.

I went to get inside and it suddenly downpoured - oh,no! people INSIDE for playgroup in my clean house! Luckily, it passed fairly quickly and the kids were indeed outside most of the day.

Then, D called on his way home from his office/hangar (he'd gone in to do some stuff for the France trip) and asked if he needed to pick anything up. I'd been to the store but had forgotten a couple of things (even though they were on my list, d'oh!) and so I also said maybe he should call his dad and see if they needed anything in particular right away today when they get here.

Yeah, it was 5:30 and they were in Connecticut. Why they stop 2 hours away - and not late at night or anything - is beyond me. But they were having a hard time finding a hotel. So, for about a half hour we thought they'd be here last night.

And I had no vacuum. I was nearly done in here, but wanted to go over the couch and family room rug one more time.

Anyway, by the time D stopped, they had found a place (seriously probably only 1 1/2 hours away from here) so he went out and bought a vacuum.

Now, we have all hardwood and tile with just area rugs. So, although I hated our cheap vacuum, I didn't see the point in getting a new one, let alone a pricier one.

But I quick did some research and we ended up with a $300 Kenmore model.

I HAD vacuumed the family room rug Monday night.

We pulled, no joke, 2 full bins of hair and dirt out of just that one rug last night. :scared:

No wonder we have all been sneezy and such!

So, money well spent.

I've had fun this morning going back over everything. The other rugs weren't as bad (they're lower pile), but I still got a LOT more gunk out.

And I have no idea when to expect them. Since it's so close, I'd have thought I'd have heard by now, but I've not. And I have to go get the kids. And I'm DISing instead of doing something more to the house. :rotfl:

I'll be on less, but at least some, until I leave Saturday.

Have a great day! :grouphug:

Great shorts Kat, and I love the dress! :thumbsup2

It is FREEZING HERE! like 50's. Brrrr.
Girlfriend, we have GOT to move you further south!

Did you notice that almost ALL the tops at Lane Bryant are those rayon/shiny or slippery material. GOSH that would be hot in FL!!!!
Bleeeh! :faint: BUT, I've found the winning combination of Modal and Cotton is terrific in the heat! :cool1:

Oh I know, V help me here, the artist area near Sacred Heart. I had a portrait done there when I was 16, Murph still has it hanging up in her place.
Mo, I'm not V, but I think you are probably talking about Montmartre.
I'm thinking the same. We never got there. Nor to the Arc de Triomphe. It was COLD people! :rotfl:

can we please stop saying pancakes. If I read pancakes one more time I will be at IHOP at midnight.
DITTO! :rotfl2:

Had my ortho appointment today, and it wasn't good. I'm a little blue right now.
Blue? As in sad, or as in smurf-like? Either way,
Good Morning Fockers!!

I'm gonna weigh in on this, too - I had a pretty big space between my two front teeth and they were bucked out from thumb-sucking. I can't tell you how many dentists/orthos insisted that I'd need years of braces plus a bunch of teeth pulled to fix it. But one said, "she has a near-perfect bite everywhere else - let's wait and see what they do once she stops sucking her thumb." Sure enough, they went right back into position, and after high school, I got veneers put on to fill in the space.

My day began with a Dr. visit for Leo - yearly check-up. But I dind't know a shot would be given, so we were unprepared. :( He's NOT happy with me.

Hi all. Crazy morning at work.

T - Hope the new ortho works out.

CE - I can't believe your tirp is almost here:woohoo:

Mel - YUCK! about the pork loin.:headache:

I've never had a lab. Any suggestions??

This morning I have cleaned and Dissed. This afternoon we aren't going to the pool because of rain ,so I think we may use the kids free meal coupons at a pizza place.

My DH says Rachel is still attached by the umbilical chord. She is fine when she is with other people but when she is around me she is like my second skin. When I shut her out of the bathrom she sticks her fingers under the door screaming" I miss you!!"

Poor Leo.

CE,you sound so excited about your trip. Can't wait to hear all about it and see pictures.:goodvibes

Hi TE!! What is a "strawberry fluff pie"? it sounds yummy! recipe please?
Cant wait to see the pics of the puppies!! :cutie: I`ve had Labs before..lots and lots of energy! :faint: but you have the land for that. so you will be fine!

I`ll be back later. gotta go get Annie from Pre school graduation rehearsal,,

Mel- What a bummer about the meat! It sucks when you have to return things that should be good in the first place! Lucky you smelt it and didn't leave it for DH to throw in or something...;)

CE- Sounds like playgroup went well, despite the brief down pour. Just think... you will be in Paris in just a few days! :cool1:

TE- Happy cooking! What is on the menu? Straw Fluff?
Puppys?:cutie: they are yummy! Could just eat them up they are so darn cute!

V- ON No! Unprepared shots? That is a disaster in many households. How did he hold up? Did he get his Hep A? That is what my ds got at our last check up.

T- New car and braces. That is blow to the pocket book.::yes::

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay girls! I'm off for round 2 at the Gyno! I'm yet again...all GYNO-IZED!

It's pretty easy!

Sugar free strawberry jello---make this up and add a tub of Cool-whip free and 1 cup sliced strawberries. Pour into pie shells, add some sliced strawberries for garnish, and let it set for a couple hours! :thumbsup2
(I have several diabetic family members and this is a good lite dessert for everyone)
