I'm excited..I just pre ordered my copies of the new Charlaine Harris (Southern Vampires)book and Laurell K Hamilton (Anita Blake) book from amazon ! I was going to try and find some place local to get 'em but it was like saving about $15 to pre order them both together! YAY! Sorry I'm a nerd I know!

I'm back... he's fine! :thumbsup2 It's not all that bad looking, but I'd bet it bled a lot and looked pretty scary at the time. He told me how it happened - jumping backward into the pool. :sad2: I said, "We've talked abotu that, haven't we?" "Yes." "So now you know why you shouldn't do it, right?" "Yep!"

most kids are just like that, you can tell them over and over, but they usually end up learning the hard way. glad he's okay.
yep, i hear the urban sprawl and traffic is pretty crazy down there. but, i live about 30 minutes from a mall!!! can you believe that? oh and my husband drives about an hour to work. traffic isn't bad around here, but we;re so far from everything. i think the weather, beaches, close proximity to disney makes up for any negatives down there. i'm pretty laid back so i can deal with the traffic, now my husband on the other hand :scared: ; but he's calmed down over the years. now instead of getting mad at the road rage people , he just waves and smiles at them. it tends to make people angrier than giving them the bird!!! :guilty:

I can read it! Then again I can also read some of V's posts, so it's all good! :goodvibes :lmao: LY, V!

I love these, Kat! I can't wait to get home to show Maddie! :thumbsup2

Nope, not a nurse, YET! I'm just getting my feet wet in the medical field at this point, but I'm heading towards the nursing field in a few years. :)

:wave2:

I'm in complete shock!

Love what you got from IKEA. I'm jonesing for a trip - they just built a HUGE one pretty close to us.

Cute! Reminds me of the Prince song, "Baby I'm a Star!" Now I'm singing that darn song! :lmao:

FINISHED!!!

That sucks! But at least you'll be getting a new one! :thumbsup2:

Whew! It always sound worse than it is! Too bad he had to learn that lesson the hard way.

i love those pics from nyc also. jsut went there in nov for 3 night bachelorette party, crazy fun!!!! nursing school isn't too bad, it's over before you know it!! and it's a great job!

Glad he's ok! Facial/head/mouth cuts always seem to bleed a lot. I used to get really panicked about them, but after each child hurting themselves several times (they have their mama's grace!) it takes more to scare me now!

Oh, I had a BIG moment on Saturday! I went bra shopping for the first time in about 8 years! I marched into Lane Bryant and told the first girl I saw that I've either been pregnant or nursing for the past 7 and a half years and I need a good bra that fit and didn't look like a granny bra. Then I told her I was tired of singing the song, "Do your b***s hang low, do they wobble to and fro" every morning as I dress. Her face looked something like this :scared1: , but she recovered and was very helpful! I am now the proud owner of 2 non-nursing, non-granny bras! This deserves a  !!

yep, completely understand your sitiuation. i was well endowed before i had my 3 kids. would love to have a breast reduction sometime!!! having big b**bs is not great as most people believe. although i have gotten out of a few speeding tickets ?!:rolleyes1 :confused3
:lmao: :lmao: I have bra issues myself. being "blessed" means only certain ones work for me. I have like 4 of the same bra and have issues venturing out... They are colored but pretty darn boring! They generally don't even carry my size in most stores so I can't even try many on!

V- :cool1: for your Leo hug! At least he is ok!

KC is working from home today so I am exiled to the "slowtop" but it works better than nothing and at least I can surf the DIS, however slowly. I am trying to get out of jury duty due to the pending disability hearing- here's hopin'!

lvoed those pics from ny. it must be cool living in nyc. have you lived there your whole life? i think it would be hard to move there. once my kids are grown, i would like to do travel nursing and nyc is at the top of my list to live for 3-6 months. oh yeah , big breasted women unite!!!:yay: ; but we can't jump like that can we??? !!! :rotfl2:

Hey all!

I started a post last night, but D got really frustrated with me being on the computer, so... :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

We spent the day shopping at Ikea and came home with a unit that isn't perfect but that we liked well enough - and being Ikea, wouldn't break us if we do find the perfect thing in a few years.

But then we got home and D started freaking about how big it is, and the shelf that we bought to go over the TV to hold the center surround speaker was too big (that was just a big "DUH" moment on both our parts.)

So we spent all night going over all the possibilities AGAIN. Please understand that D's not an angry guy, he just gets really frustrated at himself when he makes mistakes like the shelf bit - and then it was "we wasted all day and now I have to go back, etc. etc." I understand his frustration, I do, but it wasn't like I can change anything...

It ended up being a long evening, and then because we were working on that, we didn't watch any more of our recorded shows. I think we've decided to keep this cable box one more day so that we can try to watch a few more tonight whilst we build the furniture.

Then, I finally went to bed around midnight. He didn't come up until 2:00 and then seemed to think I'd be interested in some "couple" time. :rotfl:

Anyway, here's what we got - and that I finally talked him into keeping as the best possible option for now:

We bought different legs - shorter, and less "spindly" looking - though I still think we may just want it to rest on the floor.

It's big, but it will easily hold the cable box, audio controls and DVD player, plus a bunch of DVDs. I assume that down the road we'll end up with some sort of video game system, and there should be room for that, too, though it might kick some DVD's out.

I still don't know what we're doing about the shelf that was meant to go over the TV - there's a shorter version, but it's less wide than the actual TV, and D thinks that might look funny. I don't know why we didn't think about the fact that the stand could go UNDER the windows, but a shelf really can't cover them up!... :rolleyes1

We'll figure something out, though, and this is still the best thing we can do. :thumbsup2

I have to have my thyroid level checked this morning, then pick up the boys. They have tennis later, and then I think D & I will spend the evening building furniture and watching TV! ;)

Hope everyone's having a nice Monday! :grouphug:

i completely understand. my husband is a great guy. however, putting furniture together has never been his thing. he gets so mad and frustrated because it never seems to go smoothly!!! we have a unit similar to that and love it. although, we need a new one because my 2 year old is like the hulk and has ripped off every door at least once. :headache: he ends up bending the bracket that holds the door on, so when you put it back on it never shuts just right. oh well, we're waiting until he's a little older to buy a new one. we bought a big screen tv (projection), the screen is kind of soft, not glass. well, my 2 year old (hulk) got his brother's harry potter wand and was beating the tv. several rips and scratches in the screen. it's still viewable ,but you can see all the dents/rips/cracks. luckily, we called place we bought and we can order the screen for about $150, but i think we'll wait until he's 18 yrs old to replace!!!:rotfl: hopefully, he'll grow out of the descructive phase soon. :scared:

I grew up on Long Island but moved to "the city" when I was about 21 and never looked back! I live in Brooklyn, but it's a short subway ride to the city from here and I am there all the time. I love NY but I'm slowly growing tired of the price of everything!

LOL NO, no jumping!

URGH In the middle of a lovely "discussion" with KC over his not helping me out around the house enough. Anyone else ever had this problem? We are only married for 3 years and have lived together for 4. I am home so I do the majority of the work, but I get NO HELP. I either have to ask, make him a list or get mad to get him to help with the littlest things. Then when he does do something it it usually half done. I don't get it. :sad2: :sad1: :scared:

it's a man thing!!! my husband has started to help a lot more. but i'm trying to work overtime to pay off some of our bills. i pretty much told him, he would have to not only help, but it would have to be 50/50.
even though you're at home does not mean that you should do everything. that's just not fair. i think sometimes this is just an ongoing issue with most couples. my husband and i have been married for 10 yrs. (we married young). and we still fight over housework. the whole i do more, no i do more back and forth. just hang in there, try to come to a compromise. (easier said than done i know) :yay: we'll do our jumps on here, since we can't do it in real life!!!

Congrats! I just got back from bra shopping at Kohl's. In that whole store, they only had 2 bras in my size. :headache: I love new undies! :cloud9:

PP is not fun. I think you should practice your presentation and record it and post it for us to critique, um I mean see how good you are.
No way! :sad2:

I guess I'm lucky - Andy does just about everything. He'll clean the whole house for me and he does a pretty decent job! :thumbsup2 The only thing he doesn't do is :laundy: . Which is fine with me, as I am soooo picky about how clothes are folded. He laughs at the way I fold the clothes, boutque style he says. :lmao:

yep, completely understand your sitiuation. i was well endowed before i had my 3 kids. would love to have a breast reduction sometime!!! having big b**bs is not great as most people believe. although i have gotten out of a few speeding tickets ?!:rolleyes1 :confused3

I mean NO disrespect to the ladies that have had to have their breasts removed due to Cancer.. I have cousins that have had to have Mastectomy's and ladies here that have family and friends that had to have it done. It is horrible to have to face Cancer like that.. sometimes with tragic results.

I USED to have a wonderful size B cup set... however after kids and far too much weight they grew.. and GREW.. and GREW !!!
I hate them MORE than I hate Trains.. ( newbies... my DH has a big obsession for O guage Model Railroading.. and our collection is big enough that he has "Collectables Insurance" :scared1: )
ANYWAY.. GOD has sense of humor.. I was very happy with my perfect size B's .. was not happy with the C's but I thought he would stop.. NOPE !!! I will not run anymore.. because these puppies will STOP TRAFFIC. Scott does not understand.. but I see men watching women and the bouncing. The Bigger they are the harder Men STARE..:furious: Where is DDad ???... I NEED ANSWERS....:furious: IF I am running to catch up with the family.. Men will stare. So my exercise is walking.. because there is less bounce.(I want a BRA that gives ZERO BOUNCE... no matter if you are a GG.) If I do Run.. these puppies jump up , slap me in the face.. and block my view... Oh Yeah... I want a B**B Job.. take them down. I'm done having kids.. so when you hit Concave.. that will be fine.

oh yeah , big breasted women unite!!!:yay: ; but we can't jump like that can we??? !!! :rotfl2:

NOPE !!!

LOL NO, no jumping!
Ditto..

Then When I became a stay at home mom.. I got the " I have to work, and I'm Tired, and I bring home the money" spheel... So the house stays less perfect than I want it to be.. and I do not take time for my self like I should because it's all for the house.. My job is never done.. He works out of the house now for himself now.. and I help out.. He says he can't help during the week because he Has to WORK During the week" and he wants to rest on the weekend. He also wants to run and go places which will also take me away AND HIM TOO from weekend house work.

Kat... if you do not get KC to help you Now.. I doubt it will ever happen.

Welcome! What do we call u???

I'm excited..I just pre ordered my copies of the new Charlaine Harris (Southern Vampires)book and Laurell K Hamilton (Anita Blake) book from amazon ! Oh Kat and CE--
just saw this on Charlaine Harris website:
RUE BLOOD
(HBO series based on the Sookie series):

Photos of the set under construction

Internet Movie Database | Press Releases

Anna Paquin has signed to play Sookie, which is absolutely wonderful. She is a great actress, and willing to go blond for the part. Sam Trammell will play Sam. As you've already discovered, Ryan Kwanten will be Jason.

I'm very pleased.

--Charlaine Harris

WOW!! .........cept I don't have HBO! :headache:

Found this too: I've read the ones highlighted:

TE: I read the Other Boelyn Girl. Good book. I won't say great. It was good though. Pretty racey. But no where NEAR as racey as The Tudors on HBO. I LOVE that show!

Have you ever read her other books? I just picked up Virgin Earth. haven't started it yet though.

I finished Stephenie Meyer's Twilight last week. GREAT! Waiting for book #2 from the library...it's on hold.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support ladies, really it's invaluable.

We came to a compromise for the time being. He says he will make an effort to help me more. I also hve to explain that I have OC-PD (obsessive compulsive personality disorder) and I am a serious neat freak because of it. I was worse when we first got married, but has since mellowed out. I do the majority of things because they need to be the way I need them to be(in my head anyways) so it has been hard for him. Still he needs to help me some. I always tell him if we both worked full time it would be even harder. So for now things seem good. We made a pact to try and spend more quality time together and try not to sweat the small stuff. I feel better, for now anyways. LOL.

It called From Dead To Worse. It's the latest Sookie Book.
I haven't read The Other Boleyn yet but have heard great things, so eventually I will!

I saw that about the HBO show, I don't have it either but I usually find shows on weird japanese sites that are on HBO (like the L word) a few days after they air.

I have all the "Dead Books". I really wanna read her other stuff too. She's really funny. I get attached to an author easily and need to soak up everything they write! Thank god for ebay lots! LOL. OH- I'm reading "Bite" right now!

Kat,

If you can't get him to do things your way, just cut him off. :cool2:

I am soooo picky about how clothes are folded. He laughs at the way I fold the clothes, boutque style he says. :lmao:

Me too! I worked in a clothing store for 2 years, so I fold everything as if it was going on a display table. Do you use a clipboard?

Ok I am on the other end of the spectrum. DH has ants in his pants and can't sit still. Yesterday he "pruned" my blooming hibiscus. He can't stand to be still when there are things to do and since we live in a 40 year old house, there are always things to do! I shouldn't complain but the man never rests.
