Hi, all!
I read along a bit yesterday from the iPhone, but it's too hard to do quotes and stuff.
T3, good thoughts for Bill.
Janet, sorry about work.
Kat, thanks, I just put in an order!
Debra, great news on the next trip to BLT!
Hi, Z! Miss you!
Hi, everyone!!!
***********************************************
Well... As I was drying my hair yesterday to go to school, the phone rang and it was Deb, our "holiday friend". They have a boat on a different lake, and knowing our situation and that yesterday was probably the hottest day of the year, they were wanting to go to their boat, but were leaving late. D was bugging me about what we were going to do (I had assumed he'd be going to work and was planning on an errand day...) so I said OK, if we could have some time.
Since I was all gussied up, I went ahead to the school superintendent's office (they know me at the kids school, but not there.)
I had called before to see what I needed, and was told it was just a form, I wouldn't need transcripts, and just maybe a few teacher's names to put down as people who could "vouch" for me.
I went in and started filling out the app. It is a form for any support position. Says if you have a bachelor's, you should submit a transcript

, it wants professional references with current phone numbers, and personal references too.
Then, the back of it has all this stuff: "If you're applying for a custodial position..." "If you're applying as a teacher's assistant..." "If you're applying as a library assistant..." "If you're applying as office/clerical..." Nothing there about subbing. I had no numbers with me for references and definitely didn't have my transcripts. So, I took it home instead, but I've had to e-mail my old references - it's been 7 years, after all - to see if I can use them, and no one's e-mailed back yet. I might have some transcripts somewhere, but it might be easier to just order a new one for $5, but it will take some time to get mailed.
And I don't know if I should just use the teachers here as professional references rather than personal, and forget my former supervisors. It says you can attach a resume, which might be fine, but which hasn't been updated since 2001. I don't know quite what to do.
Sigh. It was just not quite as simple as I got from my earlier phone call.
So, then we went up to the lake, got there about 1:00, and using the handy-dandy iPhonev

, saw a huge t-storm coming about 5:00

and just left. They invited us back to their house for dinner, and we had a good evening after all.
Today I've gotten the Active done and checked in here, but I need to sweep and do a little clean-up for the playdate this afternoon. D is flying, but is back tomorrow morning early, and I think we're heading to our boat to see the temp fix.
The good news is that they did find a windshield and it should be repaired by the end of August for real! That should give us some nice weekends, including Labor Day, to really have it back.
I'll probably be in and out this morning - the playdate is at 1:00. Have a good one, everyone!
