Team Focker Watch Chat - Good Grief We Talk A Lot! Part 5

hey girls!!! got my computer back at work!!! i dont' know how??? i think someone messed up and put the internet connection back.

We ended up going to my mom's house for the weekend, so I haven't been on since Friday morning. Wow, a lot has happened since then....

T - sorry to hear about your Grandpa. I'll be praying for you and your family.

Katt - Not sure if you'll make it to Disney or not, but here's a  for you anyway.

Jen - although I'm really late, I think you made the right decision moving back home. I agree with everyone that you know what's best for your child and you should trust your instincts. Congrats on the job!

Rachel - the lice story about grossed me out! And I hope it all works out with your mom joining you on your trip! I could handle my mom, but my MIL.... no way!!!!

MEL - my in-laws used to do this. They'd call about a day before they wanted to come and I just couldn't say no. But, now, they live about 15 minutes away, so they don't spend the night anymore. The only problem is that they have a cat and we're all allergic, so we can't spend any time there at all. So, any and all babysitting (and there's not much) has to be done at our house.

Dawn - I love the striped wall. We did two shades of pink in DD4's big girl room last year. I'm still amazed at how well it turned out every time I go in her room.

I'm sure I missed a lot of people, but it's hard to catch up on 13 pages!!!!

-------------
So, the girls and I spent time with family this weekend. Friday, we spent with DH's brother and SIL and their four boys. The oldest is 6 and the youngest is not quite 3 months. It was fun. The kids played in the sprinkler (not the baby) and we sat around and talked about our MIL and other things.

On Saturday, we went to the zoo with my cousin's wife (who has breast cancer at 27) and her two kids (ages 3 and 18 months). We also took my cousin's sister's daughter who is 8 years old. She loves playing with my girls, but is a little wild and doesn't listen at all. Then, my DD7 gets a little wild and it got a bit crazy. Anyway, it was way too hot for the baby and we ended up leaving after only about an hour -- a very expensive hour for us - $23!

Then the girls went swimming at my mom's pool with the 8 year old cousin and her baby sister (5 months) and my aunt (their grandma). The kids had a great time. After dinner, I took the girls out to visit my brother and SIL and their two boys (9 and 13). The kids had fun jumping on the trampoline and tossing a football around.

I have to share a funny thing that happened to my brother on Saturday morning. He and my SIL took my younger nephew to Detroit on Friday to watch the Tigers play. They spent the night somewhere in Detroit and woke up Saturday morning and decided they wanted to drive into Windsor Ontario so that DN9 could say that he's been to Canada. Well, they got into Canada okay and had lunch, but had some problems getting back into the US. The border patrol detained them because they didn't have proof of citizenship. My brother (the hot-shot lawyer) didn't know that they needed to have passports to re-enter the US. They also didn't have my nephew's birth certificate, so the agent didn't want to believe that he was really their son! Now, anyone in their right mind can tell that he is my brother's son - they look identical. Anyway, after what seemed like forever, they were finally released with the warning that their car and DL numbers had been tagged and if they ever tried to do this again, they would be detained. I'm sure it was somewhat scary at the time, but I was laughing hysterically!!!!:rotfl2:

Anyway, we got up this morning and came home so that I could watch the Brickyard on TV and root for MEL's guy (sorry, MEL). DH was busy at the Speedway all weekend. He got home about 9pm and is exhausted. Hot & humid + lots of beer = lots of stupid people having lots of accidents! Very busy day for him and his co-workers.

I sincerely hope that this week starts better than the last one ended for the majority of people on this thread! :grouphug: I'm looking forward to a productive week since my girls will be at daycamp everyday!

Good evening Focker Friends. I have a bit of catching up to do, but wanted to give a shout out.

I catered the baptism for our friend who is dying. It is just do terrible to think that she will not be with us...sooner than later. Those poor babies. Her poor hubby...:sad1:

I am going to go read and catch up around here.

Jodi, that was a funny story! It'll teach him...

Hi Gang... We are here.

Jen, I forgot to mention that I'm reading your trippie and I was crying about your mom. I've got three people close to me that are battling breast cancer right now and I can only imagine going through that with my mom. And then your friend too. Thankfully, all of my friends were diagnosed early. The strange thing is that all of them are under 40. My cousin's wife is only 27. All three of these women have children under the age of 4. I just keep thinking about the kids and especially the little girls and thinking... they need their mommies!

I just have to agree with you... CANCER SUCKS!

KATTTTTT!!!! I do hope all will be roses this trip. Stay hydrated. Can't wait to hear all about it. :)

Cancer SUCKS! As you have read on my TR. :headache:

Emilie is just 40, married for 5 years with 2 boys (Ben 4months, Daniel 2). I am so saddened know that she will not be here to see her babies grow. :sad1: Her cancer is extremely aggressive and has spread rapidly. Horrible! Cancer SUCKS!

Now, the woman you know... has it spread in any of them. That seems to be the deciding factor... CANCER SUCKS! to you for going through this with them. They need you!

Sorry about my huge rant this morning. I know in the scheme of things that's not the biggest deal in the world, but for some reason this morning it REALLY hit me! I have them out there in NY waiting to come here and I'm leaving town in 3 weeks!!!!
I appreciate all the positive comments about the issue!

That is what we are here for my dear!:goodvibes

I will say (though it sounds like you made your decision) my dh works in the auto industry with all of the BIG 3 automakers and he says you're much better off with a Saturn because Chrysler will likely be out of business VERY soon and that will void all their warranties. Also, the drive train (his area of expertise) is MUCH better in the Saturn. He said, hands down, the Saturn. Then he said, "Tell her, I wouldn't let ANYONE buy a Dodge right now! She didn't hear it here though..." They are keeping the Chrysler issue VERY quiet. They just broke all their contracts with outside vendors and demanded that they be re-written with terms that were "more affordable to Chrysler" in their current financial crisis. Hello!? Isn't the point of a contract that you MAKE TERMS and KEEP THEM????

WHAT!?! WTH, I just bought that TOwn and COuntry AND BOUGHT the extra 3 year warranty...

We ended up going to my mom's house for the weekend, so I haven't been on since Friday morning.

SOund like it was a fun weekend Jodi!:thumbsup2

Hey Katt. Glad you arrived safely. Hope this :thumbsup2 means so far so good:hug:

Hi everyone! :flower3: Thanks for the well wishes for Michael :grouphug: . On the upside, I did find out that it's even possible to get a waterproof cast liner so I'm going to see if the ortho guy can give Michael one or if he'll let me order it or something. And to show how tough he is, he's been spending most of the day proving that you can break his arm but not his spirit :thumbsup2

He was in rare form between last night and tonight. Last night he was pretending that I'd hurt his arm while getting him in his jammies...complete with pained face and "ouchy" noises...causing me to freak out and jump back away from him and then he started laughing, "Gotcha!!!". Hmmmffff...very funny kid:rolleyes:

Then today I asked him to go tell his dad that dinner's ready. Tony was upstairs - Michael was down in the kitchen with me...

Me - Michael, can you go up and tell daddy that dinner's ready?
Michael - Ok...(he then goes and stands at the bottom of the stairs and YELLS, "Daaaaaad...DINNER'S READY!!!!"

THEN he said to me, "Geeze, did you hear me? I said Dad, dinner's ready. You could've done that yourself!" pirate:

Weasel.

Anyway, I gotta get to bed but :grouphug: to everyone and here's hoping we all have a better week...

G-luv - congrats on the job and the move home. for the mom and Jon situations. It'll work out. Michael spent all of his kindergarten school year telling people he had a sister...including very detailed stories, so I'm sure it's something he'll grow out of or that it's something that somehow comforts him now.

Mo - Hope Murph gets better soon!!

Rachel - Eeewwww...lice...just reading that made me itch...:scared: And thanks again for the advice!!

T - how are you and the family doing? and   to Waldo...

Katt - glad to hear you arrived safe, but a bit jealous you're there instead of me...

PJV - Be strong, girlfriend...

Kat - I saw something about eggplant...made me crave eggplant rollatini...yuummmmmm

V - Glad you liked Wall-e. I enjoyed it too...loved the messages in it. In fact, I bought a treadmill this evening, much to Tony's dismay  . In the process I had to offer to give up WW so that $ each month would go to paying off the Sears card...:rolleyes1

Everybody that I missed, I'm sorry - it's late, I'm beat and SEVERAL pages behind! Have a great night!!

I havent caught up yet,,had a busy weekend.
But I catch Katts post!! She made it!!!! woo hoo!!!
I`ll read back a little now!

They should just be able to give him one at the office LL. If not, any medical supply place should carry them:thumbsup2

I think at this point we will take anything we can get as long as it doesn't get worse:scared1:

Hi Ed :wave2:

okay, since everyone's been having bad few days, i want to share funny (but little yuck ) story with you....

...so, sometimes i do NOT like my job!!!!:rotfl2:

Ok, now I'm itching! Hey, it takes someone special to do what you do - I thank you for your dedication. :ssst: Cool about the computer. Don't tell anyone.

They're evil.

MEL:banana:

This rant was top notch. I'm sorry but at the same time you make me :rotfl2: !!

Holy carp. sorry my post was insanely long. sheesh.:rotfl2:

I didn't look at my watch once. You had me captivated.

I'm so glad that DH and I are in agreement of not dealing with this type of carp from our moms. I'm all about not dealing with a bunch of negative carp when you don't have to. I know these people are our family but it's not worth the stress to me. I don't know if I posted before but we will no longer go to any family gathering that my oldest sister attends. I'm not submitting my children to her foul language.

Well Fockers the curse struck again this morning.
I spent it in the ER. Can you believe it??!! DH had a seizure as soon as he got to work @ 7AM. I worked until 6AM. I had been asleep for 15 minutes when I got the call. We've been through it before, so it wasn't that big a deal. They did the routine stuff. His DR. is switching his anti-seizure meds around due to the upcoming chemo. and the levels must not quite be right. Now he has to take a third scrip. We didn't get out until 11:45AM. They did a great job. It's just so slow and so much drama all around with other patients. A little baby had an ear infection. The poor thing was screaming like he was being killed every time they touched him.:sad2:

I'm leaving work early tonight. I want to make sure DH does ok the rest of the night. Now I'm off 3 days!:woohoo:

Be good and safe all!!

Hey everyone doing a quick drive by. As you all know my soon to be ex was to have the kids for the next 2 weeks but he dropped them off with me on Saturday morning saying that he had no money, couldn't afford a hotel room and rental car and that he would come back each morning to see the kids and take them some place. Needless to say he's now out in CA with some family (mostly the fiances') members. But, I'm happy to have my babies home and we have had nothing but fun this entire weekend. :)

From the last page bookmarked I wanted to say T I am so sorry for your loss.

And then just from looking at this page it looks like Katt made it to FL safe and sound!! Hope you have a GREAT trip, Katt!!

:grouphug: to everyone that needs it right now and hopefully I can catch up tomorrow while Linds is at cheer camp and I have some time to think.

And...I'm home.

And it feels soooooo good!!!

We got home late yesterday evening...after driving through the remnants of Dolly. Not even a hurricane kept me from going home.

We had dinner last night and then I went out with meeska...for a nice tall Pina Colada. And it was soooooo good. Sometimes...you need a little rum.

Home sweet home!

DH got a text saying our Verizon bill was ready and the bill is double what it normally is. I 'bought fainted. So I looked online and I did remember to pay last month, but it looks like they are carrying over a charge. I called them up and nope - we went over our minutes. I guess I should say DH went over our minutes. I talked the guy into helping me out a bit and he took $20off my bill.

:scared1: We rarely even use half of our minutes because I'm so afraid of going over. I wish that Verizon did the carryover minutes. We would be set!

We ended up going to my mom's house for the weekend, so I haven't been on since Friday morning. Wow, a lot has happened since then....

I was wondering where you got to.

Well Fockers the curse struck again this morning.

Not you too! Here take some of this

Give your DH two of these  and post us in the morning.

====================

We participated in our community one day yard sale on Saturday. It wasn't as great as you would think. For some reason our "community" has a yard sale in June, July (one day) and August. That's too frickin' much! I know people complained when they used to only do it once so now they are trying to make everyone happy but we would get more people at our sale if they just did it once a year. There are housing additions around here that make such a big event out of their once a year yard sale that you overhear people talking about their plans on going to them when you're at the store. Anyway, our last yard sale was cut short by some flooding so I basically just opened the garage door, read a book and got paid $140. DS made $24 at his little booth and DD made $12. She would have made more but she kept sticking $3 price tags on little gumball toys and such. DS is a great salesman and I enjoyed watching him make change and converse with his "customers". He was excited to earn a little money for his Christmas shopping (his idea) and let me put $13 of it into his savings.

Oh, speaking of savings. Does anyone else use ING? I've had a savings there for years that I empty out every once in a while when money is tight but the kids had their savings at a local bank. I think the banks are paying less than .25% or something really bad on savings accounts. ING pays 3% so we decided to move the kid's accounts. At ING if you join with a $200 deposit and you have clicked on a link from an existing customer they will give you $25 and give the existing customer $10. The fine print says one $25 offer per household but I thought WTH we were switching their accounts anyway and gave it a try. I used DH as the adult since my name is the main account holder on our account and opened both of the kid's accounts through a link that I sent to their email addresses (set up for occasions such as this). When I checked the next week they did indeed each earn the bonus $25 and we had two $10 deposits showing on your own savings. Plus DS's interest for the first month was over a dollar and I think he got about 5 cents max at the other bank. He was so excited and I think it's really got him primed to start saving more.:thumbsup2

Wonder where that comes from. :rolleyes1

 Hope DH is better soon.

Kristel:  for you. Hope that things even out with your dh. Stay strong!

Lori: Gosh, your dh is such a ****. How could he leave his kids with you when he's supposed to have them and then go to CA?? Really!? I'm sure, if this is an indication of his usual behavior, you ARE glad to have them back!

Jen: Sorry about your friend. That's so sad.

Janet: Don't worry about your warranty now! If you purchased the car used, I would say that the dealership will stand by it even if Chrysler doesn't... Sometimes, I should keep my mouth shut! ;) But, Chrysler IS in big trouble....

------------
Haven't watched my race yet. I only got to about lap 55 or so..going to watch the rest today after ds's swim lesson. Poor Kevin crashed on lap 15 or so. (There are still two other RCR drivers though!)

Dh is off to work soon and we have lessons at 10 am. The IL's called yesterday afternoon and while I stood off to the side HISSING in DH's ear that they better TELL me when they're coming...they said they would let us know.
Let us know?
When!? We're leaving in 25 days!!!!
OMG. My blood pressure has GOT to be sky high!

MEL:banana:

Hey guys!

Mel - Your inlaw's sound like real pains. I would be angry too.

LL - Sorry about Michael's arm, he sure knows how to play it up though doesn't he. :rotfl:

Good Morning Gang...

It's Monday... and Now I know why we usually fly to Disney. EVEN driving about halfway was rough on an old woman and 1 boy who tried so hard to hold it together.

Joshua found out we were going back to Disney earlier than we planned, and I am not sure IF he wanted to go back home to play with his presesnts from his bithday the day before, or he was homesick, or remembered the tip here last month and was having bad flashbacks.. but the trip looked OVER up until 10:30 am :scared1:

When we got the greenlight... we were out the door in 20 minutes.
Most of the tip he and Sara were angels. But the last 2 hours he began to fret and wanted to go home AGAIN:sad2: ... so I sat all the way back in the van.. and he laid in my lap... yup.. no seatbealt for him. But he calmed down till the horrible storm came in... UH did't we LEAVE FLORIDA under the same conditions LAST MONTH:headache:

He just woke up.. so are gonna get at it.

I actually love the theme of these ALMu rooms. We are in the "Stagedoor" Bldg right at the Parking LOT..so... SO FAR.... SO Good !!!:thumbsup2
