TEAM FIVE: Herc's Heroes--April Miles/Hours thread! Post here!

Sounds yummy Dana! Made me hungry, I'm trying to count my calories today and it is painful!

Glad we have Epcotdude! I unfortunately won't be helping the team cause very much for now. :guilty:

Doc today referred me to an orthopedic. I go Tuesday.

Yes Dana it is my first one. This is my last week for high miles. The Marathon is on the 4th of May. Shrimp, Scallops and hush puppies sound good to me.

Bob

Welcome, Epcotdude! And thanks, Dana, for all your help!

Epcotdude, I live here at the shore in New Jersey but I'm traveling to WDW to do the Minnie. It's my first race EVER so I wanted to start with less than a half--like a 15K! Perfect excuse to get to WDW!

Team, I am wavering on the whole workout thing. I want to get in great shape for next weekend, but I seem to be unable to show restraint. I either go all out or stay on the sofa.

Last week, I WAY overdid it on the speed work (I'm not sure if it was the 15 minutes full speed on the elliptical or pushing myself so hard on the TM) and was sore until Monday. I don't want to do that again. I would be doing core work now but the guys are working on the kitchen remodel and there is no place to do that (also, dh's head would explode if I were to "work out" instead of helping, which I'm avoiding by sitting here on the laptop).

I'm planning on speed work tomorrow, but much less intense than last week, and then more core work. Friday a slow walk and core work if I can (next remodel work day). I'm trying to decide how far to walk on Saturday so that I can try out my WISH gear but not exhaust myself.

Okay, gotta go....the boys are saying VERY bad words!

duckie - Don't feel bad. If you can't tell by my pace I am VERY similar. I either go all out or do nothing. I just know I am gonna hurt myself one day. I need someone or something there to remind me I am not racing EVERY run!!

Hey guys I'm sending over Kim, Davis'Mom. Please leave the light on for her.

Yay, another new member! Welcome Kim!

EpcotDude, what marathon are you running? Flying Pig? Vancouver?

HI All!
I see Dave let you know he is sending me over. Not sure 100% how all of this works. I am VERY slow now, and hope to get faster. I am currently walking with my 7 month old about 4-5 miles 5 days a week, with about a 15 minute mile pace.
We also do about 40 minures of pilates 3xwk.
I am trying to get up to pace for the Disney1/2 in January.
I am looking forward to becoming part of the group.
Best,
Kim

Welcome Kim!! This is the general idea for the contest:

I would go ahead and include any miles you have put in this week as your total for the team. The weeks usually run Saturday-Friday, however sometimes in order to get the months to tally correctly there may be an extra day or two added at the end of the month. We track not only miles, but minutes (which includes Cross Training, and any other strenuous continuous activity. Like mowing the lawn, etc. ). Races count double for miles and minutes (so for a 5k, you actually get credit for 6.2 miles). Also if you bike we count those miles and minutes as well. If you have any questions at all please let me or duckie know and we will do our best to help!!

Dana

Leana- I'm running the NJ Marathon. Vancouver and Flying Pig sound like much more fun.

Welcome Kim!

I only got in a 2 mile walk today in 34 min, but I did mow for 30 min and weed for 30 more. I still plan to run the 14 tomorrow.

Posting my miles for this week!!

Monday - 3miles 0:24:18
Tuesday - 1:27:48 (mowing)
Wednesday - 4miles 0:30:20
.5miles 0:4:45
Friday - 3miles 0:24:08

Total: 2:43:30

Nevermind!! I forgot that this week goes through to the end of April!! So we all hae until the 30th (Wednesday) to get our totals together!! Which means I get to incude my 8 miles that I am doing on Saturday!! YAY!!

Welcome Kim and EpcotDude!

I just did W4 D6 (second time doing this week) of the C25K

I'm embarrassed to post my totals for the week. I tried to run, though!

1.50 miles / 16:54
+
.50 miles / 10:00 (Warmup and cooldown)
=
2 miles / 26:54

Hopefully next Tuesday the orthopedic will be able to help me out. It is killing me not to be able to get out and run in this beautiful weather. :headache:

Hope Team Herc has an awesome weekend! :grouphug:

Hey team, kind of a slow week for me. My legs have been bugging me a bit, but thanks some rest and some visits to the chiro I hope it will be in order from now on.

Here's my summary so far:

Monday: 3 mi in 36:57
Tuesday: Boot Camp 1:30:00
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 3 mi in 32:20 and Boot Camp 1:30:00
Friday: Rest

Saturday I'm hoping to try out a hot yoga class, then I have a 5K race on Sunday.

Hi, Herc friends!

Last night, dh and I went shopping--big sale, we scored on something we needed for the house (YES!), and I was supposed to do core work while watching Grey's. Well, we stopped for dinner, I had a black bean soup, and proceeded to spend several hours in the bathroom when we got back home. :( No core work for me. I have IBS, so this happens, but now I'm worrying I'll be sick next weekend. :(

So, no core workout last night. I'm going to try to get one in tonight, but I'm still not feeling great. Tomorrow I have a long walk scheduled--I'm hoping for 8 miles, but I'll settle for anything 6+ (the weather reports are mixed on whether it will be sunny or rainy for most of the day). I'm thinking about some yoga as xt this week in addition to my shorter walks.

I'm so excited that one week from tonight, I'll be meeting Herc's Heroes and WISH team members in person! Woohoo! My invisible friends aren't imaginary friends!

Have a great evening. I'm heading over to my mom's house for a bit.

Hi Everyone,

I managed to get a 15 mile run in yesterday. 2:37 I will be taking it easy leading up to Sundays race. I may squeeze in a couple of short runs and some walking.

Shan - hang in there, the spring has just begun.
Leana - Good luck in the 5K

I have to work well up the Parkway this weekend. Ill check back in on monday.

EPCOTDUDE - Awesome job on that 15 miler!! You definately sound like you are well prepared for your upcoming race. I can't wait to hear your results!!

Duckie - Sorry to hear about your tummy troubles. Hopefully they'll be a thing of the past come time for the Minnie!!

Shan, Leana - Here's hoping that both of you start feeling better with your legs soon!!

I just got back this morning from an 8 miler. Considering I haven't run more than 6 or 7 miles since the full in January, and even that was more than a month ago.... I am really feeling good about the Minnie next weekend. I ran a nice and easy 8 miles in 1:10:18 about an 8:45mpm pace. I probably won't be able to pull off an 8:00mpm pace like I had hoped but an 8:15-8:30 definately seems doable!!

Anyway, I am off to start getting everything together for Michael's (DS6) surprise birthday party later today!! I'll check in on everyone Sunday!!

Dana

Weekly totals Sat 4/19-Fri 4/25

Went out today without the podcast and just to run and not follow the C25K plan. We'll be starting W5 on Tuesday. I just took DH's ipod today and off I went.

Well, it stunk. I did:

28 minutes
1.75 miles

I walked 5, ran 5, walked 7, ran 3, walked 4, ran 4 and when I walked I was s-l-o-w as molasses. The first 5 minute run was great and I felt really good. Then I get this pain, not every time, and not to the same degree when it does happen. Kind of ankle, front of shin. And today it was more on the hurting side than just the irratating side. So I was moving even slower than usual, I'm not fast to begin with.

Hopefully Tuesday will feel better than today did.

Allyson
