TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

Morning everyone!

Fell off the wagon yesterday downing a cheeseburger and fries before the snowstorm. The only excuse I had was that I slept in the office last night and didn't bring anything healthy to eat. Now there's a grilled chicken salad in the fridge for me for lunch, so I should be all right. I'll hit hte gym on the way home later today.

Have a great day everyone!

Hey - it happens ! One meal at a time !

QOTD: weekends are hard for me, because I am home and every time I pass the kitchen I seem to think of food.

Yeah that !

Love this !

QOTD - How do weekends effect you?
I think they are great because they break up the monotony of the week.
I think they hurt because they get me out of my routine.

:welcome: Linds! Sounds like you have had a difficult journey, but we're glad you could join us!

I had my appointment at Fitness Together. It was nice. The gym is pretty small, but I really enjoyed the trainer. I had a trainer at 24, and sometimes we had problems with getting on the equipment because it was so crowded. I didn't dislike my trainer, but I didn't always feel 100% comfortable with him. I think part of it was working out so publicly. He also gave me one of the hardest routines of any of his clients because I tend not to complain, and I ended up burning out. I loved my old trainer, but I like this set up better. The only downside is you can't just go in on your own to work out. I also don't know how much it is normally since I am doing an introductory package.

The doctor's office I go to is teaming up with one of the grocery stores to have a FitKC challenge. They will be choosing three families in the area. Those families will get free nutritional and fitness advice as well as free groceries for 12 weeks. I have entered Aaron and myself, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we will get it!

 Had a busy day. Went and bought tickets to see Blue Man Group :cool1::yay::cool1::yay: I have wanted to see them for years and years and years. DH waited until last night to tell me to go and get tickets for this weekend. :sad2: I got the last 4 decent seats available. All the rest were obstructed view or we would have had to split up. I am so beyond myself excited! :woohoo:

Make a plan! Have those meals already planned in advance with all the ingredients bought. Use the OAMM links that have been posted if you want to premake stuff to heat up quick and easy.

I love your journal! But really? A Burger and Fries? Guess what I want for dinner now!:lmao: I guess since DH is fixing Stir Fried Chicken and Snow Peas I will have to resist the temptation.

Oh let me know how Blue Man Group is!! DS14 would love love love to see them.

What is OAMM?

And yes burger and fries!! It tells me what not to eat, like what not to wear.

If you google OAMM you actually get the site-- not usual with just the initials. http://onceamonthmom.com/extras/about-oam/ Tauwillow has been posting about it here. It is the idea of cooking once a month so you have meal ready to use in the freezer for those nights that you don't have time to cook. They have a new Diet menu that really looks pretty good. The more you can have stuff done ahead of time and just thaw out earlier in the day or pull out and heat the better off you are.

I will let you know about Blue Man. I am just so excited. Our theater is pretty small so it should be a really great experience.

Good morning TEAM DONALD!

1/12/11 WednesdayHow do the weekends affect your weight loss goals?

* They help- I do better than the weekdays
* They ruin them- I fall off the wagon completely!
* Not sure- They're just like any other days

Go DONALDS GO! :cheer2: :donald:

I would have to go to They ruin them - I fall of the wagon - not completely - but I have more trouble getting exercise in on the weekends. If the weather was good - I would be spending more time outside so it is something I have to work on.

:banana::cheer2:Congrats, Team Donald!!:cheer2::banana:

I did EASA2 again. That makes 4 days in a week. I'm doing the "easy" workouts, but it's better than nothing. Still haven't started the 30 day shred yet though.

QOTD: My excuse is generally I don't have time. If I don't exercise right after dd gets out of school, then I don't find the time to do it.

What is EASA2??

We received 20 inches of snow today. DH was home so he snowblowed our driveway which is hill - my house sits on the top. My DS 14 and his friends shoveled out my car, so I was able to get into work tonight. I think they just wanted to get rid of me. If I had called in I would have been forced to use vacation time - and I have a 3 week summer vacation planned - and a long year ahead of me - so that vacation time is like gold. Well, my break is over, better get back to work 11:30 can't come fast enough.

Just found out that school is cancelled again tomorrow. Arrrrgggghhhhh.

Not so fast young lady! You have some QOTD to answer and some Birthday Celebration updating to do! Did you totally blow the diet and have some fun? Where you been for 5 days? Did you party THAT much on your birthday??;)

/
Zoesmama03 - what do you think of the 30 Day Shred? Ive done it in the past and I thought I was gonna die. After about a week, I really saw myself getting stronger and able to do more. Thinking Ill break it out again tomorrow.

Tonight, Justin (DS10) and I got all bundled up and did a 3 mile brisk walk. I felt like I could have done more but he was cold and ready to go home. Yesterday, I got a new pair of Vibram Five Fingers and wore them for the first time tonight. To say the least, I LOVE these shoes.

I went over on calories by a couple hundred - I tracked 1625 on sparkpeople. They're system has my goal set between 1200 and 1500 but I try to stay on the lower end of that.

Im still overall pleased with how the day went. Have a great night everyone!!

I am going to try a taekwondo class tomorrow night. Hopefully that will work for me. At least I can burn some energy off and I'm looking forward to the sparring eventually. I need the discipline and the flexibility. I think it will be good for me.

Thanks! I bookmarked it to read later. I used to go to a place here in CT where you could build your food and freeze it but then they changed ownership and tanked. They've moved into a restaurant and they restaurant preps the food. No thanks. The old owner used strictly organic and local, I don't know what the new place puts in and there are certain things I wouldn't add like salt. I'd rather be in control of my food prep.

Good morning Donalds:goodvibes:donald:
Hope you are all gearing up for a great day! Hope the snow has not derailed your plans, if you have snow where you are. We don't have any here, just rain. I've had breakfast and did WATP 3 mile video and showered. Waiting to hear from a friend if she wants to do anything today, I have the car!

Scale still showing the same today, 6 days in a row of the same number. I've had that before, but never when I've been working so hard. Totally frustruating. Thanks for all the words of encouragement. I got a full 7 hours of sleep last night and today I feel like I am finally back adjusted to the time zone (arrived back here last Friday morning but it takes me about a week!)

Week-ends! Everybody loves 'em. Looks forward to them. But do they derail all your great efforts during the week? Or do you keep up your healthy habits all week-end?

1/12/11 WednesdayHow do the weekends affect your weight loss goals?

* Not sure- They're just like any other days

Most times I fall off the wagon completely, I use the weekend as my treat or cheat days and can usually get the extra pound or two off in a day or two of hard work. I may be getting too old to do that any more !!!

Good Morning, Team Donald!

I've been working out since January 1, but just found you and am so excited to have someone to check in with every week!

:welcome:

:hug:Try to be patient and hang in there. You are doing the right things, and I'm sure the time adjustment, lack of sleep, long flights you had, can all affect you on the scale. Sometimes it would be easier if we didn't have the scale to judge ourselves by. You are on track, and moving and eating right, so try to feel good about that, keep it up, and the scale will follow eventually. Hang in there, Shawn.

Thanks Kathy:hug: Your chilli sounds delicious and perfect for a cold snowy day. Hope you are not too sore from all that shovelling yesterday. That is hard work!

It sounds like you are doing everything right...just keep at it. I know when I fly, I tend to retain water and it takes a while to get everything back to normal. I'm sure if you keep doing what you are doing, things will turn around

Thanks Beth:hug: Good job on resisting that cheeseburger and figuring out what to do on bowling night. It's amazing how we can find healthy choices if we just take the time:banana:

Shawn,
I had the scale not moving last week actually showed nothing the Thursday night when I stepped on but in the morning I was down. :) Get that sleep 8 hours if you can. 7 and the low end. It really helps with this. ;) i agree with Jessi its good to mix it up eat the high and low end to trick the body.

Thanks Melissa:hug: You always have good advice and it helps to know someone else has been through this. Hope I have the luck you did last Friday tomorrow when I weigh in!!!

I'm here! Just been a crazy, busy, stressful few days.

The good news is that DS25 has a car again. Had to stand firm----more with DH than DS25, but it is a 2005 Focus, financed thru a place for people with no/bad credit. All in his name, payments every 2 weeks the day after his payday. It has over 80k miles, but comes with an extended warranty. Now up to him to make the payments, or lose it all. No late payments accepted! Hopefully this will wake him up.....but I'm not positive.

I've been really good with journaling - both points and with my Bugg, and I SHOULD be losing, but the scale is moving the wrong way. Likely due to lack of exercise. Just no hours left in the day, and too cold/windy to get out & walk (excuses like yesterday's qotd, but very valid at present - and I don't like it).

Off to start on the messy house.

Good for you Mom !! Keep on journaling and your housecleaning will give you some activity points and you will soon see good results!

Hi guys!!:wave2: Better late than never, right? Ive been placed on Team Donald and hopefully, you guys will let me join you. :flower3:

:welcome: and  for the last few rough months!

here it is!

Love it! :cutie:

 Had a busy day. Went and bought tickets to see Blue Man Group :cool1::yay::cool1::yay: I have wanted to see them for years and years and years.

Enjoy the show! Great job on the light lunch with your friend!!

DS is anxiously awaiting the automated phone call that school will be cancelled, but it's not coming yet. He just said I'm being so hard on him because I said he can't turn the tv back on until he's showered. He was supposed to shower right after shovelling and we came in a 5. It's a tough life.:rotfl:

I'm back to work tomorrow though, and my niece and nephew in the next town over already have school cancelled, so I won't have to worry about a babysitter if school is cancelled in the am.

Have a nice evening.

So.....did Michael get to go play with his cousins today !!??

The doctor's office I go to is teaming up with one of the grocery stores to have a FitKC challenge. They will be choosing three families in the area. Those families will get free nutritional and fitness advice as well as free groceries for 12 weeks. I have entered Aaron and myself, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we will get it!

Good luck!!! That would be fantastic!

Forgot to quote you Royal David but the cheesburger and fries don't sound too bad....sometimes when I am faced with that choice, I skip the fries and get a healthier side if available and skip the cheese on the burger. It's not such a bad thing, I just can't do it every day.

Hope you all have a great day.....keep in mind that weigh in day is tomorrow!
Get in your last chance workouts and make wise food choices!!!
I know I will have it on my mind all day - I think I will step up the water today and see if that will help any at all tomorrow.

Shawnprincess:

Good thursday morning. This has not been a good week for me and I know I have not done well. I am recommitting today.

Well no school yesterday and a regular start today. Then add on a faculty meeting after school. I am not happy about this. I really dislike faculty meetings.

I hope my car opens. We had rain before the snow started the other night. Dh cleaned off my car yesterday but I never went out. I also couldn't go anywhere since his truck was behind my car. We need to keep our cars off the street when it snows.

I had a great day yesterday. I saw a tool holder on a website and I made one for myself yesterday on my day off. I had no pattern so I feel really creative.

Tonight I go back to yoga. :yay::yay: My knee has been feeling pretty good. Not 100% but 80%. It was achy on wed and thurs but with the arthritis and the weather it is understandable. I go back to the doctor next week but I know we are not going to do anything.

Have to go and eat breakfast.

Have a happy and healthy day.

I do have a snow day today. So does dh.
Glad you got the day off!

The only excuse I had was that I slept in the office last night and didn't bring anything healthy to eat.
That's dedication!

I have been doing well with my HH and watching my WW points but I think I'll stay the same because of that darn PMS! I always gain a few pounds during this time.
In the boat with ya!

My goal for May 22 is to lose 35 pounds, but I also have a mid point goal. I have a trip to WDW on March 5 and I'd like to have lost 20 pounds by then. Never fear, I have a the treadmill and 6 seasons of Lost to watch!! I'm walking through 2 episodes a day, so about 80-85 minutes. It goes faster than I thought and I already feel stronger than when I started.
You're so motivating! Glad I read your post!!!

I went for my long run/walk with the plan to do 8-10 miles and made the whole 10 miles. I still am amazed that I did it.
Look at you go!!!! I am so proud of you!!!!!!!

I almost fell off the wagon yesterday. When I got home last night my roommate and his GF were eating cheeseburgers and fries and they smelled SO GOOD!! I think that was the most temptation I have felt up to this point. But, I resisted asking if I could share...instead I just had my 60 calorie fudge-cicle and got ready for bed. Yesterday I knew it would be McDonald's, so before I left work I looked at their nutrition chart on-line and picked what I was going to eat. Then, I entered the food (a salad and a fruit and yogurt parfait) into my on-line food journal.
Great job overcoming the temptation!!!!!!!

ME TOO!! It would eliminate that temptation for so many people (and parents)! Fortunately for me, Wednesdays are usually a higher points day for me, so at least I have a few points to play with if I want to snuggle up and have some popcorn or a little treat later.
STay safe and warm P! That whole fast food burning down thing is a good point! ;) Sounds like you are having a great challenge! WAY TO GO!!!!

I think there's at least a foot out there, and it looks like it won't stop til late tonight. I'm staying holed up in my little world of denial and pretending it's not as bad as it looks. :rotfl:
Be careful! That's a bunch of snow!!!! Duh. But I would love a couple of feet here! I know I am weird!

Weekends are trickier for me because the family is around, and there is just a disruption to the routine.
My Dh being home is an immediate recipe for disaster on my plan!

Quick question?? Has anyone heard of body(skin) brushing for skin tightening??
I've heard of it, and read that it works when I was looking for something to tighten up after my weight loss last year, but haven't tried it yet. I know exfoliation does work, so I'm guessing that would too! Stimulating new cell growth, etc. Let us know!

The good news is that DS25 has a car again. Had to stand firm----more with DH than DS25, but it is a 2005 Focus, financed thru a place for people with no/bad credit. All in his name, payments every 2 weeks the day after his payday.
Good life lesson in responsibility for him! Way to go Julie! Hang in there, the scale will move, promise!

Im Linds, 33 year old mom of 3 boys aged 22, 10 and 4. DP of 11 years is 39. However, that same month was the start of a very bad ending of 2010.
Welcome, I'm over on Team Mickey, but just wanted to give you a big old . What a terrible ending to 2010. Glad 2011 is moving along great for you!

here it is!
That's sooo coool!!!!

 I gotta say Bob inspired me today while watching BL(I watch on Wed on Hulu because we don't have cable or a box to get basic tv even). I already did my Jillian's 30 Day Shred this morning, walked 10 minute brisk walk to bus stop and just completed 20 minutes of Bob's Yoga for the Warrior AND the 15 minute yoga abs on same dvd.
GREAT JOB!!!!!! THAT'S AMAZING!~!!!

Just popping in to say hello. I got 90 min of exercise shovelling snow but it's still coming down, so I'll get a little more exercise in the morning.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!!!

Yesterday, I got a new pair of Vibram Five Fingers and wore them for the first time tonight. To say the least, I LOVE these shoes.
I've always wondered about those. Do you feel rocks, etc? when you are walking???

I've had breakfast and did WATP 3 mile video and showered. Scale still showing the same today, 6 days in a row of the same number. I've had that before, but never when I've been working so hard. Totally frustruating. I think I will step up the water today and see if that will help any at all tomorrow.
Ummm Shawn... DRINK YOUR WATER!!! LOTS OF IT!!! That will make the BIGGEST DIFFERENCE, as well as getting some sleep!!! Do not give up!

Good thursday morning. This has not been a good week for me and I know I have not done well. I am recommitting today. Well no school yesterday and a regular start today. Then add on a faculty meeting after school. I am not happy about this. I really dislike faculty meetings.

Can't believe you are back on a regular schedule today! Glad you are recommitting, and getting back to yoga! Take it easy. The weather really does add the aches, glad you're back to 80%!

Morning Donalds! Hope all those in the snow are warm and careful today. If you want to read my DH update and diatribe for today, here's the link to my post on Mickey.

Taryn's morning musings!

Have a great day everyone!!!
Taryn

well this snow has really wreaked havoc with my dis time. No time to even read and catch up. Hope everyone has survived the storm, and are all shovelled out. Be back after work.

Have a great day! Weighin tomorrow!! Get that water in!!!

Good morning TEAM DONALD!

Busy morning here so I will post the QOTD and be back later for replies.

Something we were withholding made us weak, until we found it was ourselves.- Robert Frost

Who is standing in your way?

Imagine someone regularly tying small weights around your ankles as you try to climb a mountain. Doesn't sound fair, does it? But that's exactly what you can do to yourself, a little bit at a time, if you don't watch out. When you think of who and what is standing in the way of your dreams, it's easy to forget your own responsibility. Even the best of us can be guilty of unknowingly hurting our own progress. Procrastination, lateness, being disorganized, pessimism, not being honest with yourself, severe self-criticism, downplaying achievements, focusing only on weaknesses while ignoring strengths, keeping goals a secret, demanding perfection, giving up after a small setback--these are all ways you can make it tough to be (and do) your best. Smart systems, the right attitude, and a promise to keep going no matter what will make a world of difference.

1/13/11 Thursday QOTD: Who is standing in your way? And more importantly, what are you going to do about it?

Yep, that would be me standing in my way. Procrastination, disorganization, pessimism, self-criticism, demanding perfection -- guilty on all counts. But things are getting better. I don't stand in my way so often or I'm more will to shove myself and my excuses aside to keep moving toward my goals. And that is no doubt why I'm having a good challenge so far and will have a good year. :goodvibes

Please be sure to include your team name when you PM tigger813 your weight and CC your HH points tomorrow. Team Mickey is looking to pull off a win this week so make today count!

QTOD - I am definitely the one standing in my own way. First of all, I get LAZY! Yes that's right, I can admit it. I am lazy. I make too many excuses to not work out because I just don't feel like it. I also give in to cravings of bad foods because I just don't feel like fighting them. I'm working on it.

Lisa, thanks for coaching! I'm looking forward to starting my week tomorrow. I hope that I do it as well as you!

QOTD - I'd say my family and job. Family because our life is just so busy, it is hard to always eat the right foods. We have made a focused effort since last summer to eat out less and eat at home more. I am on a learning curve with preplanning meals also.

My job has become more difficult in managing my eating because I have to travel extensively for work. (overnight travel) This year, my per diem was cut. It makes it really tough to NOT eat fast food. Prior to that, it was no problem and I made really healthy choices (fish, chicken, etc.)

Knowing the obstacles help find ways around them.

Thank you for coaching starting tomorrow! :flower3: You'll be a great coach -- my secret is the QOTD archive is your friend! :goodvibes

Just found out that school is cancelled here so have to make some alternate work plans. I do have a couple of things that need to be done today at the office.

Be back later with replies.

You just read my mind. :rolleyes1

We have almost a foot of snow. It's a whopping 1 degree here today, most of yesterday wasn't even above zero at all, and what I FEEL like doing is snuggling up inside on the couch with a bunch of warm yummy snacks and lazing around reading and clearing out the DVR.

But I will not! I've got one more kid to take to school and my trick is, that if I dress for the treadmill before I go...when I come home, do not pass go, do not collect $200, do not sit at the computer or or on the couch but grab my water and hit the treadmill!

Yesterdays QOTD: I would split time at MK and Epcot. I love mornings on Main Street. And evenings at MK, too. But I love Epcot so much, I'd need some time in between over there.
