TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

After watching week 4 of BL I'm kinda thinking about something. They showed the unknowns board with the calories and I was appalled. I know they are monitored but 1025 or whatever it was just seems outrageously low for the amount of exercise they do. How can that little calories feed the muscle they are gaining? :confused3 I suppose now between realizing they do a ton of exercise and eat that low I can see how they get such high numbers but is it all fat loss is what I'm wondering. I know some do get quite a bit of muscle but like last season that one guy got pretty buffed up but that was at home when he probably ate a little more than he did on the ranch.

Actually, if you keep up with the show, the Doctor will come back on and show the fat loss. I forget what girl it was, but she was laid up in an accident and gained weight - her fat percentage was close to 60%!!!! The Doctor told her - if you aren't willing to exercise at least 90 minutes a day after you lose the weight you may as well go home now. They lose more weight from fat than most conventional diets, which people lose more lean muscle mass. The Doctor had a book out years ago that's an interesting read. He recommends 1 hour of running on the street, not a treadmill (notice they don't use weight machines in the gym on BL) and another hour of some other activity.

What I find most interesting with the BL, is that the people are just as successful at home as they are at the Ranch. If you pay attention to the weight loss precentages at the finale, the at home winner has, for the last several seasons, lost a higher percentage of weight than the BL.

There is a very interesting article in Runner's World this month about Biggest Loser and how they do things -- it is based on Season 10. They have an incredible amount of medical supervision so the calorie thing may be based on that. I thought that they did 1200 calories a day on the Ranch. If they mix things up from time to time that 1027 might have been a low day. :confused3

After being in the local Biggest Loser challenge at the gym I have accepted that I would never cut it for a BL losing style -- just too exhausting not to mention so totally unlike a real lifestyle. Sure it's taking me forever to reach my goals but it's not a race! :hippie:

:donald:

Never mind the exercise - I could never get up on a scale, on TV, in my underwear, letting it all hang out!!! LOL DH and I watch it.

Hello Donalds

Haven't been here as much as I would have liked lately, but the good news is that since its my week to coach I now have no excuse not to post:lmao: Even Better, I have the weekend off:dance3: So i can stay up to the wee hours of the morning to type responses popcorn::

This is going to be a quickie post though, cause I still gotta work in the morning and get my but up at 5:30am. Oh joy.

I wanna hear about triumphs and let downs and everything in between. Let's all have a great week:thumbsup2

OK, lately i have been living in the neighborhood called "Its always Something"

Long story short, working at Target means Black Friday, Christmas shopping season and working 1 day every weekend during that time. Now its a remodel into a PFresh store:headache: Add to that I wrecked the car a little over a week ago, a trip to my parents, head cold and NOW Aunt Flo is packing to leave.

All that means I've gotten in just 1, O-N-E workout done in the past 2-3 months, if we don't count walking the dog.

So our Question of the Day for Friday is this:
When life gets in the way how does this impact your BL plan? If you get off track, do you beat yourself up about it and Why?

Happy Friday everybody

Good Friday Morning Team Donald We made it to Friday.

Hope you and everyone were ok with the car wreck. Lots of car wrecks this winter.
So our Question of the Day for Friday is this:
When life gets in the way how does this impact your BL plan? If you get off track, do you beat yourself up about it and Why?
Most of the time, I don't beat myself up, and just try to get focused again and sort of live and learn. Yesterday on the other hand, I was so mad at myself for the crap I ate this week, I haven't gotten out to run/walk as much as I should and was feeling overwhelmed. I think part of it is the january cold and snow is just so depressing. I am feeling more motivated this morning, and cut up a big bowl of fruit, strawberries, blueberries and pineapple, had some hard boiled eggs, fruit and yogurt for bkfst, have my healthy lunch packed, and am ready to get back on track. I was only up .4 today, but I'm going to give myself an extra day to lose it, and send tomorrow's weight in to tracey. I made a plan to lose 10 pounds by 2/23, and I can still do it if I stay focused. I'm going to my bro and sil's this weekend, and they're the family who is the best inspiration of healthy living for me, so that will help keep me motivated. Amazing how I can feel so motivated one minute, and the next totally lose all focus.

OK need some pointers on some good protein!
My main sources are chicken and chobani greek yogurt. If I don't feel like cooking, I'll get a rotissery chicken, which is easier for a family of 2 to feed than a family of 6, like you have. I buy the barilla plus pasta too which has a higher protein content. Fish, pork, lean beef are great sources too. I really need to be more versatile. Toward the end of the day at work we'll talk "what's for dinner?" and I'm always saying "chicken".

What I find most interesting with the BL, is that the people are just as successful at home as they are at the Ranch. If you pay attention to the weight loss precentages at the finale, the at home winner has, for the last several seasons, lost a higher percentage of weight than the BL.
I've noticed that too, and you make think that anyone can do it when they set their minds to it and put their heart and soul into it, you can reach your goals.

Dona-I'm up for the journalling challenge this week.:thumbsup2 We can do this!!

Wishing you all a sunshine filled day with great numbers on the scale. :)

Good morning, TEAM DONALD!

A big thank you to mikamah for being our coach last week! :flower3: And a big thank you to Octoberbride03 for coaching this week! :thumbsup2

Glad that you had a good day yesterday, Shawn, and pixiedust: for a good dental appointment today.

I think your trip to Paris sounds wonderful! And you haven't even reached the part where you go to Disneyland Paris yet! :lmao: Can't wait to hear more!

LTS, sorry about the car debacle yesterday at Costco.

Buffy, hope your neck feels better soon! :flower3:

Hi everyone! I have been reading along all day, but have been too busy to post. I got some bad news on the big project that I have been working on for the last couple of weeks :sad2: I had put together a great plan that I thought would work beautifully, but once we turned it over to our vendor, he said that it was a "mess" and wouldn't work  The dumb thing is, I totally adhered to all of the rules he gave me before I started, but now there are apparently some new things he forgot to tell me about :confused3 Back to the drawing board, I guess.

Bummer, nothing like changing the rules of the game without telling you! :sad2:

I should probably just get it over with. I have a cruise May 22nd so if I wait until April 15th to lose 5 pounds I'll probably freak out :scared1:

One pound a week would do it. :goodvibes I think it would be nice for you to be in maintenance mode in March. :flower3:

We went to a friends house and we had tea while the kids played out in the snow for a couple hours. I needed it. She has 3 kids and sends them out in the yard, and says it's like the psych ward, you just check out the window every 15 minutes and make sure they are ok.:rotfl2:

:lmao: Works for one kid too!

What I find most interesting with the BL, is that the people are just as successful at home as they are at the Ranch. If you pay attention to the weight loss precentages at the finale, the at home winner has, for the last several seasons, lost a higher percentage of weight than the BL.

I think the folks who lose more at home probably have a better shot at being more successful in the long run, too, because they do it with their regular life.

OK need some pointers on some good protein!

I'm sure CC will have some answers for you, also, but here is some info from sparkpeople

Sources of Protein
Meat, fish, poultry, eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt and soybeans provide all nine essential amino acids. For this reason, they are considered high quality or COMPLETE proteins.

Plant sources of protein include legumes (dried beans, peas, and lentils), nuts, and seeds. Grain products such as barley, wheat, millet, rye, as well as many vegetables have smaller amounts of protein. These plant sources are all INCOMPLETE proteins because they do not contain all of the nine essential amino acids that the body needs.

It is possible to still get your complete proteins without eating animal products. Luckily, the essential amino acids present in one plant food can “connect” with the essential amino acids in another plant food to form a complete protein. This is the principle of a healthy vegetarian diet. There is no need for combining specific foods at each meal, as once thought. Your body can make its own complete proteins if you eat a variety of plant foods and eat enough calories throughout the day.

How Much is Enough
Health organizations recommend limiting your protein intake to 10-35% of your total calorie needs. SparkPeople.com is programmed to calculate your protein baseline to be 20% of your total calorie intake. For someone who is consuming 2000 calories, this would equal 100 grams of protein (at 4 calories per gram, equals 400 calories). In most cases, this example protein intake could still be considered healthy if it ranged from 50 grams (10% of intake) to 175 grams (35%).

To give you an idea of the amount of protein you can find in certain foods, check out the following list:
1 cup milk…8 grams
1 ounce cheese…7 grams
1 ounce meat…7 grams
1 egg…6 grams
½ cup legumes…7 grams
2 tablespoons peanut butter…8 grams
¼ cup nuts…6 grams
½ cup cooked non-starchy vegetable…2 grams
1 serving of grain (1 slice bread, ½ bun, 1 c. dry cereal, 1 small muffin)…3 grams

The power of protein is easy to achieve. Obviously, with the great availability of animal foods and nutritious grains and vegetables, most of us have little trouble meeting and probably exceeding our protein needs.

You can't beat yourself up when you go off track! :flower3: I bet you got a lot more activity in during that busy time than you realized, Maureen. You can't change what happened but you can move forward. "Being defeated is often temporary; giving up is what makes it permanent." - Marilyn vos Savant As my friend, mikamah, would say Never give up! :cheer2:

Have a healthy and happy day.

You, too, donac! Thanks for being our hostess! :flower3:

Good luck to everyone with their weigh-ins, HH and WIN! numbers! :donald:

Good morning Donalds! Just sent my weigh in to Tigger. It is a small loss. It has been strange doing this challenge. In the past (read - in my younger days), if I were exercising and eating the way I have been, I would have lost probably double the weight I have so far. Age/menopause definately must play a factor in this. I'm still determined to do it, just realizing it may take longer than I thought. I was hoping by the end of March for our trip I would have reached my goal. That may not happen, so I'm focused on summer swimsuit season now.

My second strength class yesterday kicked my butt! Tomorrow morning our class tries cycling for the first time.

Have a great Friday everyone!

If I try to complain/vent to my mom about something my girls are doing she just :rotfl: . :headache: She is really enjoying the paybacks.:rolleyes1

Mine too!! :lmao:

well my plans changed a bunch since this morning.

I got to Home Depot when the schools started calling to tell me they canceled. So I pitched the ice melt in my car quick (got a workout lifting 2 50lb bags) and took off to get kids. The roads got bad, fast.

Rounded them all up and we are now all tucked in at home to wait out yet another storm.
I need to go walk but honestly the thought of going down to the basement to use the treadmill is not appealing. I'm feeling shut in, I need to be outside.
Guess I need to invest in cross country skis or snow shoes!!

Glad you got your hands on some ice melt. DH couldn't find any at Walmart last week. We haven't been desperate for it, as most of our storms have been too cold to be ice... mostly light fluffy snow... and plenty of it!

I always gained at least 15 pounds.
The last type of pill I was on (ortho-tricyclin), I gained a kid. Literally. DD was a BC baby.

DS was a condom baby... but the best "oops" of my entire life!! :thumbsup2

Pamela Sorry about your daughter spat. It's tough to be a Mom! I'm sure both your kids are great most of the time but they know what buttons to push sometimes!

Shawnprincess:

She apologized in her own way the next day.... she made breakfast for her brother while I was outside shoveling snow.

Thursday QOTD 1/27/11--What are the warning signs for you that you are maybe starting to lose your way on this healthy journey? Is is eating more? Not journaling your food? Skipping workouts? And the more important part of this.... HOW DO YOU GET BACK ON TRACK?

Eating without caring, eating little bits here and there without journaling them, skipping workouts (which I have been guilty of lately).

Back on track to me is getting right back ON PLAN... no cheats, and back IN CONTROL! It usually involves a written plan for the upcoming days/week. I make note of how many points a day I plan on using and what type of exercise and the duration of my workouts. I post it on the fridge or in my food journal and use it as a check list. I LOVE myself a good LIST!! Usually a week or so of sticking to a strict written plan and I am right back in the swing of things!!

And whatever you do, DO NOT try a Snickers Peanut Butter if the nice lady offers you one. OMG it was soooooooooooo good! I stretched the sample into 3 bites and really, really wanted to go back and get another one, and buy a bag!

I HATE those samplers at the stores! I avoid them at all cost! Too much temptation!

Today I went to the gym on my lunch break and I went for a run and it felt...awesome :yay: That is strange. I really don't love to run, and most days, I feel like all I want to do is be done, but every once in a while, I will have a really great run. I felt like I could have run longer, but unfortunately, I had to get back to work :rolleyes1
beth

I'm so sorry about your frustration at work..... but happy to hear about your AWESOME run!!

Have a chiro appt at 9:30 tomorrow. Mom is driving me since I can't put my head up straight. I hope I can get some sleep!!!

My driveway is now clear! YAY!!! His plow broke mid way so he had to come back. IT looks much better then the above pic. Now I need to spread the ice melt in the morning after my Dr appt.

Sorry about the neck situation. Have you seen the chiropractor before??

Lucky you with the clear driveway!

So our Question of the Day for Friday is this:
When life gets in the way how does this impact your BL plan? If you get off track, do you beat yourself up about it and Why?

Happy Friday everybody

First off, I need to say.... I don't think of this as a BL plan. This is my Healthy Lifestyle. It doesn't have an end date/time. I'm not doing it just because of this challenge or the challenge before this or after this. That said......

It depends on how badly off track I get. I haven't been beating myself up too badly lately about the missed workouts (don't get me wrong, I still get feeling guilty and :headache: and  and :guilty: and ) But my run in with the Raisinets last weekend had me beating myself up pretty badly on Monday. WHY?? Because it was a stupid, "old-me" choice! But I picked myself up and got back on my "normal" healthy eating on Monday morning and had a really good week (even with a birthday dinner out at Uno's on Wed.). But I didn't have a loss this week and, of course, I am beating myself up again today, angry about the lack of loss (especially since I had a small gain last week that should be gone by now) and kicking myself all over again for letting Raisinets get the better of me.

OK need some pointers on some good protein!

Well... I'm late to the party on answering this.... I see you got plenty of good answers. I'll just chime in with many of my favorite protein sources....

organic fat-free french vanilla yogurt from Stonyfield Farms

hummus.... favorite flavors are sundried tomato/basil, and garden vegetable... usually eaten with baby carrots and bell pepper strips or in a high fiber wrap with veggies... but sometimes with pretzels.

egg whites.... I have these about 3 mornings a week... especially on days when I am trying to go really low-cal. I usually start by sauteeing veggies.... onions, peppers, broccoli slaw, spinach, tomatoes (any combo of these)... I either add the egg whites right to the cooked veggies and scramble them all together, or remove the veggies and then make an egg white omelet with the veggies in the middle. Sometimes I put the entire scrambled mess into a high fiber wrap.... delicious!

beans.... I like most beans... black, kidney, garbanzo (oven roasted... yummy!). I put beans in soups and stews and casseroles and salads.

taboule salad..... kind of hi-cal cause of the oils, but I throw a Tb. or two on top of my salad and it is exotic and spicy and good.

GOOD MORNING friends! I'm a bit sorry to have to report that I won't be a big contributor to this week's BL challenge. I maintained last week's small gain. But onward I go.....

Freezing cold in the downstairs part of the house this morning and I discovered our downstairs electronic programmable thermostat went ka-fluey and the heat was set to 20 ° !! When I tried to bump it up to a normal temp, it wouldn't go past 31°. I removed the batteries and shut it off to try to reset it, but I put new batteries in and turned it on and it was totally dead. When DH gets up I am sending him to Home Depot for two new thermostats (upstairs one has been acting flukey for months now). Normally, if he was working, I would have no problem taking care of this myself.... but I think he is bored and needs a project. Since he is still working one-handed, I think this will be a good project for he and DS to do after school today. DH can show DS how to install the new thermostats and they can work together! Win-win in my book! Meanwhile, I grabbed an electric portable heater we use in the playroom to keep the downstairs from getting TOO cold... but I shut the office door to keep the heat isolated to the main living area and now I am FREEZING in here! I'm gonna have to get off the computer soon as my fingers are getting too cold to type!!

I'm proud to say that I totally avoided my version of crack last night.....:rotfl: DS and DH made homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for DS to bring to school today.... cookie dough is BY FAR and AWAY my biggest food "can't resist" item. I just made myself a hot beverage and went upstairs, away from the temptation. That said, DS did save me a spoonful in a tupperware in the fridge :lmao:... I'll work it into my plan over the weekend!

I've been working like a mad woman at my scrapbooking table lately and been so satisfied with my results. But I'm going to be back on the work schedule come February 1st, so my scrapping time will be limited again. DH doesn't need my constant attention/help any more, so it is time to get back to normal life, which means back to substitute teaching. That said, high school swim season is winding down and club swim season is going into championship season.... so my swim schedule will start to relax by the end of Feb. Plus snowboarding lessons will be over in another week and basketball only has two regular season games left. So by March 1st life will be a bit slower! (That said, I told DS that after b.ball season he could pick another activity to start up... he is consider Tae Kwon Do or guitar lessons.)

Anyone else here eat kale? I bought some for a soup earlier this week and then made one of the recipes on the package to use up the rest of it. Both recipes were really tasty and I'd be happy to share them over on the BL recipe thread of anyone else here would be interested.

TTYL..................P

This is so me!!! I have this thought all the time. Lesson to all you younger ladies: try REALLY hard NOT to put on the weight because it will be so much harder to lose it as you age, believe me:scared1:

I am down 1.5 today:yay: Have finally taken off the 3.5 I gained over the Holidays plus .5 more:yay: Sad to say but I'm only down .5 overall since Dec
18th:eek: But, no sense in beating myself up over it, just gotta do better from here on out! The old me would have gained MUCH more over the Holidays and maybe never taken it back off! I'm now one pound away from a 25 pound clippie:yay:

Buffy Your snow pics scared me:scared1: What a beautiful old tree in your backyard.

LTS Back away from the Snickers! I am so glad PB does nothing for me. I know so many people with a  for PB, sounds like it's kryptonite.....of course I have my own vices:rolleyes1

Beth That stinks about your project. Cool to be upgraded to first class, why doesn't that ever happen to me ???

Maureen Thanks for being our coach this week:woohoo: For the QOTD, it does seem like life gets in the way alot. I could make an excuse for eating and exercise just about every day. It's best just to be proactive when you can rather than reactionary....looking over your schedule the night before to see when there's time to exercise, making sure to have proper foods ready at home and on the go, etc. It helps me to sort of think about things as an experiment, I wonder if I try this, will it work? And later I might realize something didn't work as well and I'll think what a better alternative might have been. You can choose to be healthy at each opportunity, it just takes a little more work and planning. I keep harping on this, but I think the most important thing is to never quit trying. I feel like I have actually adapted some new behaviors thanks to just repeating the behavior over and over and over again as often as possible.

Kathy We are going to Paris for our birthdays, mine is Feb 17th and DH is Feb 20. Guess what, the dentist and ALL his assistants wore gloves today! Now I am really wondering about our ortho here...the dentist had as many instruments of torture as the ortho though. Love your friend's comment about the psych ward - so true:lmao:

oops, gotta run, bbl

Shawnprincess:

:wave2: I spent too much time reading and responding below so no time to chat. Have a meeting in an hour, then DH wants to go out for lunch (he is feeling bad that I got stuck with the tire thing yesterday!) and I have no idea where to go to stay on plan. Then we have to go to Walmart and get some food shopping done.
Everyone have a great Friday!:goodvibes

When life gets in the way how does this impact your BL plan? If you get off track, do you beat yourself up about it and Why?
Life does affect it a lot, like yesterday. It is really interesting that you really have to have a plan for healthy eating. The quick, grab and go options are for the most part crap. It is a lot easier to gobble down a burger and fries in the car than it is a grilled chicken salad. At Costco yesterday I had already had their salad and when I needed a snack later there were no other healthy options. I really couldn't handle a salad again that quick. So unless you pack up healthy snacks and take them with you it can be hard to find good things. Think of all the concession stands and parties and even the restaurants where there is a plethora of junk and very little healthy.

I do beat myself up some. But I try to then make up for it.

Even Better, I have the weekend off:dance3: So i can stay up to the wee hours of the morning to type responses popcorn::
Don't forget to get enough sleep to help your weight loss. :thumbsup2 Can't remember what someone posted earlier in the thread 7 or 8 hours maybe?

Now its a remodel into a PFresh store:headache: Add to that I wrecked the car a little over a week ago, a trip to my parents, head cold and NOW Aunt Flo is packing to leave.

All that means I've gotten in just 1, O-N-E workout done in the past 2-3 months, if we don't count walking the dog.
:hug:Sorry about the car and everything else piling on. Enjoy your weekend off and get some relaxing "me" time in!

I would certainly think that walking the dog would count as exercise. :thumbsup2

to all our birthdays!

I have been good on journaling and so far only missed yesterday but am going to go back and do it. But I am still trying to figure out the best way for me to do it. Not sure if I want to do it online or on paper. In the past paper has not been sustained for long. I think I am going to try on yet another forum to see if I can get feedback there along the way

Thanks for that great list! I am going to save it for future reference.

thanks for the pep talk Kathy!!! I'm going to have to journal because working out will not happen. I have pinched a nerve in my neck but can't get out of the driveway to get to the chiro. I've got heat on it now, and will switch to ice next.

How are you feeling today?

I got some bad news on the big project that I have been working on for the last couple of weeks :sad2: I had put together a great plan that I thought would work beautifully, but once we turned it over to our vendor, he said that it was a "mess" and wouldn't work  The dumb thing is, I totally adhered to all of the rules he gave me before I started, but now there are apparently some new things he forgot to tell me about :confused3 Back to the drawing board, I guess.
:headache: So sorry about that. How frustrating. Just think of it as job security!
but free food is my favorite kind and I have a really hard time saying no even when I'm not really hungry :confused3
:lmao: Mine too! To bad free food isn't calorie free!

I'll be your coach for the upcoming week, and we'll get started later tonight.
Don't worry though I got 1:thumbsup2 Just gotta go find the brain i put it in:upsidedow
:rotfl2:

Actually, I guess I would agree with the gloves part for the most part, but working in someones mouth, I would think they'd protect both the patient and the doctor. Though, when i started my nursing career, we couldn't wear gloves except for emptying waste or drawing blood. Gloves were thought to make the patient feel too impersonal. Interesting how things have changed so much.
I remember my dentist and ortho not using gloves. It seemed that the AIDS scare era was what really spurred the use of gloves and face/eye protection for dental workers and was more to protect them.

We went to a friends house and we had tea while the kids played out in the snow for a couple hours. I needed it. She has 3 kids and sends them out in the yard, and says it's like the psych ward, you just check out the window every 15 minutes and make sure they are ok.:rotfl2:
:rotfl2: Love that!

3) Eat 2 servings of protein per day.
Yikes! I finally just got around to 20 mins of exercise!:rotfl:

I'm very annoyed with the scale right now. It is showing me up another .8 :sad2: so frustrating. I'd be discouraged if it weren't for the fact I know I've lost an inch off both my waist and hips. It definitely has me motivated to get back on track with the food tracking big time. And motivated to do all I can to track weekends. I have heard that 30 Day Shred will do this(show gains) though. :confused3 I really don't think I went that high on the weekend to make up a gain. But who knows.

HH I'm not even sure what I got but I do know I got all my water. 3/7 on exercise I fear. Its hard to calculate the dairy for me but I did use cheese. several days. I'll have to go through my tracked days and see but its tough to say. Probably just take this week off on those. I think I'll do awesome this week's HH because I do really good with protein. :) Even though I avoid meat I still get lots of protein. Starting today off with a snack of 1/2 cup of frozen edamame. I was surprised that we had any left. Zoe usually go through them pretty quick as after school snack options.

I am switching from tracking at SP to MyFitnessPal.com. I like their food diary a whole lot more. :lovestruc Its easier to find the foods. I find them on the first search. No pop ups and no second database(SP has main then what others have added) to go searching through. :thumbsup2 Plus it lays out the net calories right there for you to see. The community portion is not as nicely laid out/designed but I think I will really have better luck using this one when I don't need to spend time inputting new foods all the time.

I watched all of last season. They didn't show every contestant that I saw. And what methods do they use to calculate fat %. I think that is very very hard to accurately factor. The calculations can be off and the calipers as well. Maybe his fancy scanners are more accurate. I wasn't say they DID lose muscle I said I wondered. I'm sure they usually eat 1200 calories but I'm learning so much on why that will slow metabolism too. Now maybe with their intense muscle building workouts it may balance out. But it just made me wonder. And to be honest that Dr. creeps me out BIG TIME. I've seen weight machines on the show. If they aren't being used why are they there? 1200 calories I've read should be a min if you AREN'T exercising. And that you should eat the calories you burn to keep the net calories at 1200. :confused3 Anyway I got to thinking that was their 3 meals so maybe they get 200 or so to work with snacks. ;) I didn't mean to pick it apart or downgrade the program. It's quite obvious that it works. Especially whatever the unknowns have been doing.

Shawn,
Level 2 is tough but some of it I find a little easier and less impact cardio(the standing toe touchers or whatever they are called) the jumping I fear could lead me to an injury so I'm very careful.

Buffy,
Lots of snow there. I miss it sometimes but definitely don't envy the hassle of it. Just wait till I'm dying in 110+ temps and nights that we don't see drop below 100 and it will be turned. :rolleyes1 Hope the chiro got you feeling better.

I'll try to get back in a little bit when I can read and catch up more on the QOTDs I'm behind. I gotta send my weight and measurements and get some housework done as well as my workout.

Well I'm down again--just a little though--121.4. I'm glad with my decision to go back on the pill. Can't start until after my next period though--which is about a month away-- so for now I'll just keep trying to maintain. I think I will accept Donac's challenge to document, however painful that is. I must not be eating as much as I thought. Even if I gain the dreaded 15 that will just put me back up to where I originally wanted to maintain anyway. I just don't want to gain too much too fast--don't need anymore stretch marks. Pretty confident though as much time as I've been spending at they gym-- that won't happen.

I've entered all the weigh ins I've received so far! Keep 'em coming!

Mickey is leading Donald by about 11 pounds so far!

I'm going to be a day late in reporting in. Sick in bed. I'll try to get it tomorrow. (I weigh on my wii so I'll have to get it up in the morning.) I'll measure tomorrow too. Sorry.

Down 2 pounds for my first week in the BL challenge! :thumbsup2:cool1:

I will be happy with a 2-3 lb loss per week because I know that is the healthy way to do it and keep it off whilst exercising and eating sensibly. ;)

So our Question of the Day for Friday is this:
When life gets in the way how does this impact your BL plan? If you get off track, do you beat yourself up about it and Why?

Happy Friday everybody

Can you tell the hire ups at Target I am NOT feeling the new floor plan!!! the kids and I went to Target yesterday, it was horrible and dare I say it, had a Walmart feel to it. <shutter> I really really hope it gets better and fast!!!

QOTD:
I am very off track this week between snow days, schools rescheduling and illness/injury. Minimal work outs, I've now missed 2. No food journaling which I have paid the price for dearly. And not getting my water in.
I didn't even bother doing my HH points this week.
Typically I beat myself up about it because I feel like a failure (still an issue from growing up) but I'm trying to retrain my brain and have my little BL angels on my shoulders telling me to accept and move forward.

Team Donald Challenge

It sounds like a number of us are flounder this past week. I challenge you to JOURNAL all the food you eat and the exercise you do this week.

By writing everything down it might give us all an added incentive. This is not part of the weekly HHpoints. This is a Team challenge. How many of us can do this. I am off to get my notebook and breakfast.

I will try to remember what I ate and write it down!!

Sources of Protein
Meat, fish, poultry, eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt and soybeans provide all nine essential amino acids. For this reason, they are considered high quality or COMPLETE proteins.

Thanks for the info!! UM, if I win a challenge will Curtis Stone come cook for me?????? :rotfl2:

Buffy Your snow pics scared me:scared1: What a beautiful old tree in your backyard.

Thanks!! Japanese Magnolia. We figure it's at least 70 years old because the house was built in 38'. It's much fuller now though because the maple tree next to it has been trimmed back.

How are you feeling today?

Much better!!

I'm going to be a day late in reporting in. Sick in bed. I'll try to get it tomorrow. (I weigh on my wii so I'll have to get it up in the morning.) I'll measure tomorrow too. Sorry.

I hope you feel better!!!

Sorry about the neck situation. Have you seen the chiropractor before??

Lucky you with the clear driveway!

Yep, I've been seeing the same one since I was pregnant with DS10, he kept me walking while pregnant with the last 3. I has sciatica really bad and there were days when I couldn't move.

He did a nice adjustment, even though he warned me it would hurt, which it did. And he did some stretches on my neck and shoulders. I can now hold my head up straight, but I can't turn it all the way. I might swing back by on Monday if it's still tight.
I did not sleep well last night so I'm dragging today.
