TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

Good Morning Team Donald.

Yes for once in a blue moon I slept until 7 this morning. I just finished breakfast and now I have to plan my day. So far there is nothing planned until a fundraiser I should go to tonight.

Have a happy and healthy day. Don't forget to journal.

Ah--now I know how you get done all you do...I've been doing it. Kind of made me have a 'lunch' (chips and guac) yesterday, just to look good on paper lol. Been really nice and sunny here, went for a good bike ride on the river. Maybe I'll do that again today.

Yeah both times I got pregnant I was on the pill--just started it though. But my chances are slim at my age now...if it happened I would love it, but reality is husband is 53 (lol) and chances of a healthy baby are signifigantly lower. It's funny though-- once I started thinking about it... I would never even have thought of it the last 10 years or so because of the kind of back pain I had-- now I have literally no pain and am about as healthy as I've ever been...it kind of makes me kind of sad to close the door.

:wave2: Down 1 lb this week. Seems like a let down after last week but really that was an anomaly and 1 is way more realistic.

I have moved with my laptop into my scrapbook room. Which means I have spent the last few days in here on the computer but NOT scrapbooking! But I am closer than before. I have had some stuff going on that is taking my time but since I am staring at it all I am hoping to get something done. I am really more comfortable in here because my comfy chair is here.

I bought a small sized Daily planner yesterday-- it has one page per day except Sat/Sun are on a day together. It is by Mead and is 8x5, so too big to lose, but small enough to take with me if I need to. I realized that I think one reason I am better at journaling on the computer is because it is easy. I can always find it! With paper I end up setting it down somewhere and misplacing it or can't find a pen or pencil. I am going to make an effort to just leave it right next to or on top of my computer. And since it started on Jan 1 I am going to use those extra pages in the front to scrapbook in some inspirational quotes and information. May also randomly add some inspiration throughout so I find it along the way.

If you have been on a cruise what is your favorite ship? If you haven't would you like to, and which ship do you want to try the most?
I have been on two cruises, the Disney Wonder and the MSC Orchestra. I loved them both. Well, the Disney cruise was actually the cruise from hell because we had terrible weather so it was cold and windy-- no Castaway Cay :sad1: and we missed our Palo Brunch reservation because of the chaos of trying to dock at CC. The last night was BAD-- there were huge swells, water coming up over the mid decks and when it is that bad no stabilizers can help. DD and I get very motion sick so we were not happy campers. Lots of people were sick, including crew. BUT, we did enjoy the ship and the shows and I would love to go back. When we got off the boat I swore I wouldn't even so much as go on the Jungle Cruise after that but I did change my mind. :)

The MSC cruise was a 7 day of DH and I only and it was wonderful. Our 20th anniversary is coming up and he has told me to figure out where I want to go or want to do. I really want to do a cruise but I want to take my girls-- they want to go again- and he wants a grown ups only trip.
Let me just answer the QOTD We have nevere been on a cruise. Dh is afraid of getting sea sick. We are thinking of maybe doing a 3 or 4 day to see how he handles it. We have been looking at some river cruises here in the northeast. The boats are small. The one that has interest dh is the "Lobster Cruise"
I get horrible motion sickness. I can't even look at a swing or Merry Go Round without getting sick. The patch you put behind your ear worked wonderfully for me. No problems at all. I would be careful about a river cruise--- they are probably much worse for motion sickness. They don't have stabilizers and will rock and sway with every move of the water. It could really turn him off to what would be a whole different experience.

I would look into a short "cruise to nowhere" or a 3 day that can give you an idea of the experience before you commit. When I decided to try again on the 2nd cruise it was because our first stop was in Key West. I told DH that if the first night on the ship was awful then I was getting off and renting a car to drive back to Miami!:rotfl2:
My weight loss goals are modest - just 5 lbs a month - but if I did that for two years, it would be 120 lbs.
I am not going to be losing 5 - 6 pounds a week at times like I used to do at WW. But I feel I am on a balanced plan I can live with for life.
Not about deprivation, good foods/bad foods, eat this don't eat that for me - doesn't work.
Sounds like you have a great attitude and have really adopted a healthy lifestyle instead of a diet. That is the way to do it! :thumbsup2

I was a little bummed that I only lost 1 lb this week but then I remind myself that 1-2 pounds a week is normal and sustainable. More than that is not realistic for the long term.
That said, I still have an Alaskan cruise on my bucket list.
Truth be told, if I won the "Disney Cruise" lottery, I'd definitely pick a Mediterrean cruise!! A trip to Europe is definitely at the very top of my bucket list~!

Anyone have any easy, quick, light chicken breast recipes?? I know most people cook these so often, but I don't. I find breast meat dry Or I might splurge and make my DMIL's swiss chicken again.... DH and DD really enjoyed it last week and I still have most of the ingredients. I could make that for them and make something else for myself, as I don't enjoy it enough for the calories. And of course, poor DS will end up with eggs or fishsticks.
P
Alaska cruise and Med cruise are on my bucket list also:thumbsup2 I told DH that I want to see if I can get stronger and better on my feet. Both of those would be a challenge in a wheelchair. I want to be able to walk and climb to really enjoy them.

I have a TON of good chicken breast recipes. If it is dry then it is most likely you are cooking it too long. I shouldn't be. The Swiss Chicken seems like a waste if you have to cook two other meals also. Let me find some recipes and post them on the Recipe board for you.

Just popping in briefly since I'm still so sick. My resolution this week though (come monday) is to be better about coming here and posting and offering support. I've been very remiss about that. I need to get things in order here.
I know someone that is a great nag and can kick you in the butt to get over here. :teeth:
Just sayin. . .

Yesterday I earned over 400 calories from exercise and I used those up on seconds last night because I was hungry and then still was so I had popcorn while my brother and I watched a couple episodes of Stargate SG1(been working through the whole series again). I wanted some the night before but knew it would mess up my calories.

Love Stargate SG1! Have always loved Richard Dean Anderson!!!! I bought DH Season 10 for Christmas to complete his set! We love old episodes of MacGyver as well!!!

OK Donalds!!!! Where is everyone? Still waiting on more than half of the people for weigh ins! Mickey is ahead this week so help your team and send me your weigh ins!!!!

I adore Michael Shanks. :rolleyes1 We got to Daniel's "real"(after all the close calls) death(or ascension) :sad1: I will have to rush through till he comes back to a human body.

I posted some Chicken Breast Recipes here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=39743843#post39743843

Feel free to add your own!

Thanks....I'll go check them out. I realized after I posted about chicken that DD was going to be gone tonight, so we opted for salmon (she doesn't eat anything from the sea.... she's a non-pescetarian...:lmao: ). But I'll be cooking the chicken probably tomorrow night.

Wish I had known there were so many Stargate lovers here. I bought DH seasons 1-3 for Christmas a few years ago. He NEVER opened them or watched them (he just watches it on the tv and records it on the DVR), so I ended up giving them to the Goodwill....

Well... we ended up with my version of "fast food" for dinner tonight..... frozen herb crusted salmon patty "burgers" on Sandwich Thins with frozen oven fries (fairly healthy.... just 5 gr. of fat and 150 calories per serving) and broccoli. Quick, easy, doesn't dirty many dishes, and almost no prep.... my idea of "fast food"!!! And I splurged and had some of the fries tonight (I rarely eat these). I was careful and weighed my portion, but I had already set aside what I THOUGHT looked like the right size portion and I was almost exactly right! I was over by about 5 fries!!

I've been scrapping most of the afternoon.... but the laundry did call my name loud enough to get itself folded!

I probably won't be on at all tomorrow. DD has a swim meet out by the seacoast.... it is a HUGE invitational meet and is scheduled to last 8-9 hours!!!:scared1: I may not stay all day, but we'll see.

Talk to you all again soon.................P

Oh I'd have fought for those discs. Richard Dean Anderson is my first true love:lovestruc Even Dh knows he's a stands in till I can get the real thing:lmao:

:welcome: Please do share the details of your Castaway Cay wedding:cloud9:

I had my Wedding on CC on Nov 12, 2010 and it was wonderful! We only had some of our immediate family with us on the cruise, 12 in total, so very intimate. The wedding was at 10 in the a.m., a bit weird but beautiful.

I had to get up extra early to get ready and it was rainy in the morning :scared1: The wedding coordinator had to come ask me if I still wanted to do it outside or if we should move it to a location on the ship. I had to make a big decision but I am glad I chose to keep it outside. On the way to the beach location it was still misty and damp feeling but when the golf cart I was on finally rounded the last corner the sun magically appeared from the clouds and stayed out for the entire ceremony! :wizard: We joke that disney had huge fans that blew the clouds away for us!

After the ceremony we took a bunch of pics on the beach and with the characters that we out on the island before heading back to PALO on the ship for a nice champagne and cake reception. After that we wanted to get some pics on deck but it started raining again :sad1: so we took some pics around the inside of the ship and by the time we were done with that we were able to go back up on deck for some great shots and the sun was shining again! :) Finally we went back to our cabin and changed to enjoy the rest of our wonderful day at CC!

Stacy: GREAT JOB with the weigh in. That is definitely a nice healthy loss. You should find a nice ticker that you like and every time you record your new weights it counts down for you. Then its just a couple of clicks to update the sig.:thumbsup2

Where can I find a ticker that's easy to update? I had one a while ago but I couldn't figure out how to update it so i had to erase it :confused3

:woohoo: Nice loss!

Thank you!

Today's is a fun question.

If you have been on a cruise what is your favorite ship? If you haven't would you like to, and which ship do you want to try the most?

I have been on 6 cruises but only on one ship so I guess my favorite ship would be that one, the DISNEY MAGIC! :thumbsup2 I am really itching to try the new ships the Disney Dream which just started sailing or the Fantasy which will start next March. I might wait for the fantasy if I can stand it because she will be doing 7 days where as the Dream only does 5 at most but usually 3 and 4 nighters. I also have only ever been to the Bahamas and the eastern and western Caribbean so I would really love to do a Panama Canal cruise, a Mediterranean cruise, or an Alaskan cruise! Will probably do Panama and Alaska for sure but I know my DH would rather just go around Europe not on a cruise and explore so we may end up doing that that way. We'll see because I am actually talking like we have money to do these things,! Some day I really would like to do these things and more...:cloud9:

Now if only I could just get a netter job first!!!!:surfweb::worship:

:yay: for YOU!!!!! I would be ESTATIC with 2-3 pounds per week! I average about .5 a week. I could take it up a notch but I don't think I would stick to it at that intensity for long. I think to lose 3 pounds you would have to burn in excess of 10,000 calories in one week-I just can't do it! That's about the most I ever lost in one week and it would have been like first week at WW or something like that.

Thank you, I am hoping I can keep it up! Mostly I have changed my eating habits and then I work out when I can. For example I am a big Tea drinker, but sweet tea, and I just realized the other day i was probably DRINKING about 350 cals in half gallon worth of tea a day!:scared1: SO I made some tea for myself with splenda since I really have a hard time just drinking water all the time. I love water when I am working out but other than that not so much :headache:

Having a hard time keeping up with the thread, and with making the necessary changes in my life that will result in weight loss. Just can't get my focus on.

QOTD: Have you cruised? What is your favorite ship? We've cruised 2 times on the DCL Magic, 4 times on the DCL Wonder, 1 time on RCCL Radiance of the Seas, 1 time on NCL Wind (now retired), 1 time on NCL Majesty (also retired), and 1 time on CCL Liberty. My favorite ship has to be the Magic. I love the theming of the restaurants, the decor, the outside appearance, everything just looks beautiful. I especially love the horn. I like the Wonder too. The two NCLs we sailed were old, and very plain inside. I liked the Radiance's decor, but had a difficult time when some staff people on our Alaskan cruise so I am a little soured on RCCL. The carnival ship was very flashy; perfect for vacation, but definitely not restful or elegant!

We love to cruise but have had to scale back on doing so due to the economy and DD being in college. I will say that unlike real life, I actually lose weight while on a cruise. I eat everything I want, including dessert, enjoy a few cocktails, etc but because I use the steps, exercise more, etc, I always come back lighter than I left.

ugh, I can't breathe.

Any remedies for a head cold???

do y'all work out when you are sick? I don't think I could walk or run with my head stuffed up so bad.

the good thing is that I don't want to eat though, cause everything tastes like cardboard. LOL

Hey Donalds, I was not a very reliable team member this week...up 1/2 a pound, ugh. I think I lost a little momentum, but glad it was only 1/2 pound, it was worse early on and I salvaged the week!:scared1: I didn't get to the gym at all and apparently now that I'm over 40 my body won't cooperate with losing weight unless I exercise. It's making me work MUCH harder for each pound lost, I tell you!

My birthday is Monday...going to Applebee's and I know they have good choices, so I'll be ok then and get back on track:thumbsup2

It is interesting that a number of us hit a little bump this week. Part of the journey, I guess...

I've never ever been on a cruise, but listening to the Podcast cruise shows, I must say I am intrigued...

PMing my weight now:scared1::scared1: May we have a great Week 5!
Michele/Rutgers

Definitely lost momentum this week. Still weigh the same as last week. Can't complain, as I have not been working at it! I'm thankful to have not gained.

Tomorrow is a new day. And my basement/scrapbook room is now clean and organized and so walking on the treadmill won't be drive me crazy while I look at the mess! :thumbsup2

QOTD:

The only cruise I've ever done was on the Disney Magic. It was amazing. Best vacation ever. Someday we'll do it again. :goodvibes I think the Disney Fantasy has a really pretty garden-y themed restaurant that looks beautiful. I'd go on any Disney ship any day, though.

:lmao: Get in line! I have been in love with him since the very short lived TV series Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

I just tried to post a long reply 3 times and lost everything each time

That's it, I'm waiting until tomorrow to try again. Darn computer :headache:

Just checking in- It's been a rough week mentally and I feel myself not as much "in" game as I want too but I am trying hard to barrel though and not give up...

Spent the day walking around Kennedy Space Center so only did 30 of Pilates tonight (should be a Cardio Max day) but since I ate well I am calling it good enough for today (okay so as I type that the little voice is telling me to go get the funk on so who knows...)

As for the QOTD: Only cruised once on the Wonder 6 years ago but after seeing the Magic in port today I want to go on a cruise.. Sad part is those who will go with me I dont want to be stuck on a boat with and those I want to go with wont go....

:lmao: Get in line! I have been in love with him since the very short lived TV series Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

I guess I missed him on there because I was looking at Bobby Sherman. I watched that show too.

Quiet today. The cycling class kicked my butt! I have to go to two more of them this week but not really caring for it so far - looking forward to my swim tomorrow afternoon.

QOTD - We did our first cruise (Disney of course) in spring 2010. LOVED it! Didn't think I would like it as much as I did. What we really loved was being able to have adult time while knowing the 3 kids were having a blast. I get motion sick (for example, can only ride Everest once and no way can I do MS orange) but I wore wrist bands the ENTIRE time and we all took bonine every day starting night before and had no issues at all. First night was tough - lots of people left the show early and/or were sick but while we could feel the motion, we were okay.

We have our second cruise scheduled for next year -our 25th wedding anniversary also :)

Do you find yourselves eating the same thing day after day? I'm eating a lot of greek yogurt, turkey, fruit, laughing cow swiss wedge, iced tea, water, cottage cheese....getting a bit bored.

Okay so I couldn't shut up the voice so 30 min of cardio now done...

>>Do you find yourselves eating the same thing day after day?<< Very much so but I found its more comfortable than boring.. Breakfast is yougrt & a handful of dry cereal course flavors of both change daily. My 2 go to snacks are my home snack of wheat thins and string cheese or my work snack of a bag of pretzels (snack size) and a pod of Peanut Butter (the smuckers individual size)
