I am on a team building commitee for work. I work in an O.R. We are trying to come up with ideas for some activities to do. Have you ever done any team building activities at work? What were they, and how did you like them?

We just did this at work and it was fun. You get everyone to anonymously write down something about themselves that no one else knows. Someone compiles and prints the facts and then everyone tries to guess who wrote them. It made everyone sort of "interview" each other and it allowed you to see another side of your co-workers , not just their work personality if you kwim.

this sounds like a card game we play when we all get together every month. cant do it at work tho as we usually all end up soused.;)

We had a picnic day for JUST staff (we were bummed about no families at first, but it worked out and was a lot of fun!) and this was in lieu of a work day. We all HAD to go, and it was a work retreat. It was like summer camp, we had a hula hoop contest (ridiculous and funny) and we had teams board games, trivia pursuit, charades, dodgeball. It all sounds ridiculous I know, but it was great! I got to know a lot of people at work that i had not met before and we were forced to interact and meet each other, now we are all friends.

We also once had to design clipboards for each other. We filled out a survey with fav color, fav tv show, fav quote all kinds of fiun facts and then we had to draw a random name from a hat and make that person a clip board. Then they were all shelaced (spelling?) and we presented to each other at a meeting with a brief explanation. I still use mine!

We did this one year. We've also done it where you bring in pics of a parent, and then guess who belongs to who, same with baby pics too.

A great way to bond and do some team building is to work on a project for others. Not sure on the time line you have set....but adopting a family for the holidays as a group works wonders. You don't have to wait till Christmas either, you can do it for Thanksgiving. Something about working together to help someone else seems to bring a group of people together. Planning, shopping, wrapping, organizing and the like all help everyone work together and see each other differently.

My department always adopts a family for Christmas and we have had great sucess with everyone working together.

I went to a cooking challenge for my DH's work.

I recommend taking the company bowling.
