Team Bilp's 21-Day Dining Extravaganza- Lots of PICS- 24/7-14/8 UPDATED 8/21 Boma

I can't wait for our ADR at Citrico's now! Just a little over a month now... I'm counting the days...

Ooh! I'm so jealous! You'll have such a wonderful time!

Oh those dessert pictures are fantastic!! I need to go workout!:lmao:

Lol! Tell me about it! But it was so tasty I didn't have calorie-guilt!

We ate at Citrico's a few years ago for my sister's b'day and had a lovely time. That was before the DIS so no photos and I don't remember what I had. Now it's going back on the list. :thumbsup2

We really enjoyed it too! It's definitely worth another visit!

Tuesday 29th July 2008- Raglan Road Lunch

We spent the morning at Downtown Disney and had no plans for lunch. After a wander around the Market Place we were heading to Planet Hollywood because we really couldn’t think of anywhere else, when we walked past Raglan Road and I thought ‘ooh!’ and in we went.

It was about midday and there were literally 3 families, including us, in there. And I was worrying we’d have a long wait without ADRs! Our server was quick to offer us drinks and here’s what we got:

That is a Bud (what’s new!?) for Matt and a Double Berry Tini for me. This was so yummy- it was Boru Crazberry Vodka with Respicello and cranberry. It was fruity and lovely and I just wished that they had served more in a bigger glass! Matt was fast becoming the Bud-master of WDW and he liked it as usual.

Here’s our appetizer:

This is the Dalkey Duo- battered cocktail sausages served with a Dalkey mustard dipping sauce. I must admit, this was my least favourite appetizer to choose- I’m not a big cocktail sausage fan- but I said Matt could pick so we ended up getting it. And it was so worth it! The sausages were really tasty and had a little bit of spice to them… the mustard sauce was good too, not too strong but just enough so it was full of flavour. We gobbled these up but had to force ourselves to stop and leave a few or else we wouldn’t have fit in our entrees… which were:

Keen Eye for the Shepherd’s Pie for me. Now, I was being brave ordering this because my mum makes the best Shepherd’s Pie ever and so far nothing has lived up to it. I was kinda surprised because it was pretty good- didn’t top my mum’s but still, yum! The mash was lovely and creamy and the mince was in a gorgeous sauce which tasted really sweet and a little bit alcoholicy (maybe why I liked it!). There definitely could’ve been more sauce to mop up with my mash but it was still really really good.

Matt had this:

This was a steak sanger. That’s sirloin steak with fried onions, mushrooms and horseradish with fries (ok, I can’t call these fries… they are most definitely chips!) on the side. He let me have a few chips to dip in my sauce and they were really good- just like a good old English chippy- lol, I think I was a little homesick. He munched down his steak sandwich, saying it was really good and tasty.

We were really full but so wanted to try dessert, so we got this:

This is Dundon’s Delight- this is raspberry pavlova with vanilla pod ice cream served on a raspberry and champagne consommé. We got this because we wanted something light to share- I did kinda want the bread and butter pudding but I knew we wouldn’t have been able to eat it! The dessert was really tasty- the ice cream was especially good.. and the consomme was super sweet and yummy. We managed to eat all this up and then waddled around DTD like the stuffed little piggies we were!

We loved Raglan Road and we will be back for dinner later on in the trip!

I'm so excited to be trying Raglan Road in November, thanks for posting!!:goodvibes

Wednesday 30th July 2008- Scrummy Steak

We tried and tried before our trip to get an ADR for Le Cellier with no luck for lunch or dinner on any of the days we were free! I had no idea it was so hard to get into! Me being me I decided I must be missing something and we HAD to eat there! So poor old Matt got an early morning at Epcot with nothing but a teeny weeny box of cereal to keep him going. By 11am when World Showcase opened we were both starving and practically sprinted in the thousand degree heat over to lovely Canada to line up outside Le Cellier.

The good news is we were first there and they had some spots available for early walk ins- the bad news is we had to hang around until 11.35 when they actually opened. When they did open it was with two rounds of the Canadian National Anthem- one traditional style and one translated. It would have been really cool apart from hardly any of the surrounding wait staff joined in with this one lady who was proudly and loudly chummering along. They looked kinda embarrassed and I wanted to know the anthem so I could join in and help this poor lady!

We got in there and for the whole of our meal it was practically empty! No ADRs left for lunch!? Either there were loads and loads of no shows or there was something wrong with the system! Also, we were sat on a table for two in a line of loads of two tables- we felt really squinched together with the other tables- if it stuck my elbows out they would have brushed the lady next to me. It made for a weird dining experience when your conversations are mixed up with everyone else’s. And it wasn’t like there wasn’t loads of room in the rest of the place.

Our server came along and was really good. He explained a lot of dishes on the menu to us and told us what he recommended. We both ordered soft drinks- not very exciting so I didn’t take a piccy of these. And then he brought us some bread:

We were just having lunch so I was a bit worried about filling up on bread but couldn’t resist trying this stuff! We had three different baguettes: sourdough, wholegrain and pretzel bread. The sourdough was really yummy and fresh and we managed to eat all of that. We thought the wholegrain was good and nice and warm but a bit boring after a bit. We really didn’t like the pretzel bread- but then again neither of us like pretzels! It was too sweet for us and we left almost all of it.

Then we got our appys… here’s mine:

DSC00939.jpg

I knew I was getting this after all the rave reviews on the Dis- the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup. Now, I was taking a chance here because I’m not the world’s biggest cheese fan and I really don’t like Cheddar. But I thought there can’t be so many happy munchers for no reason! And it was gorgeous! So smooth and creamy! The cheese flavour wasn’t too strong and the salty bacon on top was a nice addition. I could’ve eaten another bowl of this for my entrée!

For Matt’s appetizer, he got this:

DSC00940.jpg

This is the duck two ways. It’s duck confit and rillettes with marinated green apples and apple gastrique. I wasn’t surprised he ordered this- if there’s duck on the menu, Matt orders it! It’s his favourite meat and he has high standards when it comes to how it tastes! He let me have a little try and I thought it was pretty good- duck’s not my favourite and I liked it! He said it was good but a bit bland for him. He didn’t get the apple that went with it- said the flavours clashed more than they complemented each other.

For entrees- despite the rave reviews of the mushroom fillet- I skipped it (shock! Horror!) in favour of the New York Strip Steak (Sorry my camera’s done a bit of a flash fest!):

DSC00941.jpg

This was a gorgeous strip with bercy butter, balsamic red onion, watercress and roasted Yukon potatoes. The steak was beautiful- I ordered it medium and it came out just that. I felt like the potatoes were a little bit undercooked- not enough to complain but enough so they weren’t very soft. The butter that came with it was so nice, there could have been more but I’m the Queen of drowning my steaks in sauces so I probably have more of an appetite than most people for those!

Matt was a good little Diser and had the mushroom fillet:

DSC00942.jpg

This is a fillet steak with mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter sauce. He said at the time this was a tad fatty but he loved the meaty parts. He let me try some and it was every bit as good as the people on here rave about! Tender and with a delicious sauce!

We were so full after this and didn’t order dessert, especially considering we had an early dinner planned that night. When we got the check we were a little shocked at the price. Admittedly, we don’t tend to look at individual prices, we just order what we want, but it was a shock all the same. I don’t remember the exact total but I know it was upward of a hundred dollars- we didn’t feel it was worth *this* much for lunch and it put a bit of a downer on the meal. We would go back but I think we’d keep a bit more of an eye on the price!

Coming up: a quick drinks interlude and then a small review of HOB!

Subbing!

It's so nice knowing that someone who's also 21 has a dbf that they drag along onto trips. :rotfl:

Raglan Road looks fantastic (particularly your berry concoction! :thumbsup2 ). I ate there on my last trip in '06 and don't have it on my list for October and now I'm second guessing that. I have a dinner where my plans are up in the air (was between Wolfgang Puck Express and Earl of Sandwich but may have to go with RR).

Awesome luck getting into Le Cellier!!

You don't like the pretzel bread??? :scared1:

Oh phew...you like the soup. ;)

Looking forward to more. popcorn::

Yippee! :cool1:

This sounds really cool. Too bad there weren't more singers.

We really didn’t like the pretzel bread-

:scared1:

Those are two of my favorite things! But that's why there's a menu, right?

Loving your reviews and pics. We're going for 21 days in less than a month now, and so far we're eating at pretty much every restaurant you've reviewed!
