Team 8 Jessica's Rabbits Bios and Info

Amybeth Sounds good always like to train for something next spring in Cincy sounds like a winner. Also 41 miles is great thats a lot of miles for a weekly total.

Scott....Let's pencil The Pig in for next Spring :thumbsup2 .

Steve and Rich...I've been itching to run the pig for two years now. I think maybe I can convince Scott to do it next year.

I think the only reason we didn't make it this year was to run the Minnie (how did we think that Minnie > Pig?)...I'm all for penciling this one in for next year (maybe a CMM/Pig back to back??)

Wow, you guys are really amazing! :worship:

Ok, so now to get this thing healed so I can prove really can put in some miles too!

Martha you are so not pathetic!

Patrick and I were actually thinking about doing the Pig next year since the Minnie is no more. Team outing?

Headed out on camp trip this afternoon so hope everyone has a fun and safe long weekend!!

Liz--I hope you are better soon. How is the recovery coming along?

And by the way, if we want to plan a team outing for the Pig next year, Krista and I don't mind heading up a lot of the details for that. We had 8 or 9 WISHers at the Pig two years ago and we coordinated some of our meeting times/places, etc. It would be a great time! I'm all for it.

Have a great weekend, team!

Good evening all! I thought I'd give you an update and let you know that it may be a couple days before we hear from Calcio again.

How many of you know that when you want to use a hair straightener from the US in Europe, you not only need an adapter but you also need a converter? Well, our daughter didn't know this. She got to Paris fine but when DH went to pick up her God-sister and left her alone in the apartment, she plugged her hair straightener into the adapter then into the plug in the wall. She blew out the electricity in the entire apartment!!! I told her, I said, don't take these with you. Buy a cheap one over there. But would she listen to me? NOOOooooo!!!!!

The apartment people went by around 5:00 pm today (amazing) but weren't able to fix it. Tomorrow they will be back with an electrician. I wonder how much this will cost our daughter. I sure ain't paying for it.

In the meantime, Calcio is unable to charge his laptop or Blackberry so he isn't in communication unless necessary. Plus, there is no hot water and no heat.

I'm here holding the fort. I'm think I'm glad about that.

Happy Memorial Day everyone!!!

Hi everyone -

After two and 1/2 weeks I went out for my first run, since my breast sugery. It was hard and very labored, but I did it. I had to walk the last 1/4 mile out of sheer exhustion, but I did complete my 3.1 miles..........and I am so grateful for that ;)

this week-

12 miles
3 hours and 35 minutes.

I am hoping to be back to 3/4 days a week of running, but I need to take it slow again................I thought you could get right back into it????

What the *ell happened to me then???? :confused3

Hello Everyone

It appears I will need help from someone for a few days. As Martha told you, our daughter, age 23, with a degree in a rigorous field from a tough college managed to blow out the electricity at my Paris apartment withing 1 hour of arrival, doubly worse because I was out retreiving her pseudo-cousin from the airport.

Daughter: "Dad, I have this high amp,110 watt, hair straightener, which I would like to plug into the wall of this 18th century building with retro-fitted electricity, and this adapter from Brookstone, should I do it?"

Father: "Think a minute about your question, and the answer will reveal itself."

If only I was in the apartment and we could have had that conversation, but Nooooooooooooooo!

Anyway, we were and remain electricity-less. Don't laugh Steve and Krista, one day Carter will pull something equally dumb.

We are in an another apartment temporarily until a French electrician can come out and fix it (crossing my fingers here). The problem is, from the new local I am unable to update the master sheet. Don't ask me why, but when I input data the spreadsheet doesn't recognize the key strokes.

I have put in everyone's data up to my last post on Page 36, post # 540. If someone, anyone, could pick it up from there and get the team's data into the master score sheet, I would appreciate it. I'll let you know when I'm back up, IF EVER, and I can pick it up again.

I am sorry to ask for your help, but since the 2 young ladies arrived Friday morning, in the words of the French, it's been complete "merde."

At least tomorrow we are off to Epernay. Perhaps a day in Champagne and at Moet and Chandon can chase those blues away.

Thanks

Craig

Hi Team! :wave2:

Craig~ Sorry to hear about your electrical issues. Good luck getting that resolved! pixiedust:

I ran 5 miles in 48:07 for a 9:37 pace. Please add this, the first of many (we all hope) to the team's numbers! It was the Spring Lake (New Jersey) 5 Mile race.

:grouphug:

Howard

Steve: I think Scott and I are officially in for the Pig next year. Would love some Wish meets!!! :thumbsup2

Craig: OMG...sorry about your electricity. Hope it gets resolved soon. And I do remember being in my 20's and how important my hair was back then ;).

Liz:  Hope you're feeling better!!!

Scotty: :grouphug: For a great PR...and here's to one tomorrow as well!!!

I wish I had more to report on the training front but woke up feeling lousy with a bad sore throat and headache that just won't go away :(. Add do that 5 softball games in the past 1.5 days and workouts were few and far between. Hoping to catch up beginning tomorrow!

Steve I'm in for the Pig Next year barring any problems. It sound like a team outing.:thumbsup2 . Steve do they have a 10k that day. DW started running and would consider a 10k but not a half. Pre race meal is three way right from skyline:lmao:

   I'm so proud of Scott....just had to share with you guys.....TWO PRs this weekend and all those double race miles for our team (and some biking for us too!). I'll let him share the details but he ran a great 10K today :).

Steve: Does the pig fill up quickly? How early would you suggest we register for the race? I know it's SO far in advance but I start planning my race calendar way out :goodvibes . We'll need hotel recommendations, etc.

Has anyone run the Baltimore Running Festival races? We're looking at the Half Marathon there in early October. :thumbsup2

A Pig meet would be awesome! I know this is all preliminary, but it sounds like we might have 4 or 5 interested right now. That's great! Ok, I'll answer the quick questions:

Rich--they do indeed have a 10K. It's on Saturday (the day before the half/full marathon). But packet pick-up and the Expo are on Friday and Saturday, so you'd need to be here on Saturday anyway to pick up your stuff, and you could probably squeeze in the 10K that day.

Amy--nope, the Pig doesn't fill up. At least it hasn't in the 10 years they've been running it. At some point in the future, I'm sure they'll have to cap it (there were about 16,000-17,000 half & full runners this year), but I'm guessing they'll have all sorts of news flashes and updates on their site if they're getting close to closing registration. I registered this year at the end of March and I honestly could have waited until the day before the race in May to sign up.

Since we're still 11 months away, we don't have to worry about too much, but if you want, you guys can plan on Krista and I setting up the details for meeting for a pre-race dinner, meeting at the Expo (if anyone wants), and any other meetings we'd like to do.

Scott--congrats on the two PRs! Make sure to let us know how it went!

Craig--will your computer run off candle-light power? ;) Hope you're still having a great time in Paris.

Liz--how's recovery going?

Swim-mom--great job on the 3 miles! Take it easy working back into it and don't kill yourself. Again, way to go!

Howard--nice job on the 5 miler! So what's the plan for MCM? Are we going to crank out a 3:30? :thumbsup2

Martha--just a guess here, but I'm thinking the Paris mishap would have been avoided if you were at the helm, right. :) (kidding). Glad things are going well as you're holding down the fort!

Hi to everyone else and great job getting those miles/hours in. Hope you all are having a great Memorial Day weekend.

Steve

Good evening all! Here's the report from Paris. They spent the day in Epernay to come back only to find still no electricity. Apparently it's not in the apartment but in the building so they have to call in the Power department. Uh huh. So, back to the cold showers. What fun. We're now talking major unions here so I'm not sure what to expect.

I, on the other hand, have had a lovely weekend, albeit all alone. I worked out Friday and Saturday, mowed the lawn yesterday and ran this morning. I consider that pretty good workouts for the weekend. I've planted new plants in the garden, washed the cars (ok, 2 of the 3) been shopping--lots and lots of shopping--and made truffles to take to work. Grand Marnier truffles and ones with chili pepper. They are amazing. I also saw the new Indiana Jones movie. Fun although a little out there. And I got some good sleep.

Please everyone, send lots and lots of PD towards Paris that the electricity gets fixed tomorrow. This is getting tiresome!

Talk to you all later!

Bonjour Y'all (I was born in Oklahoma City)

We actually have electricity in the apartment. Drum roll please!

We returned from Versailles this afternoon and when we hit the light switch it actually came on. The national power folks came out and fixed the thing, so we have a fully functioning apartment. I suppose asking to get more than 2 english language stations out of the 100+ on the TV would be declasse.

So we were about 100 hours without power. It makes me realize what a wimp I've become. Cold showers and no heat and the government might fall.

I have been able to update the master score sheet from here. It seems we've lost some great folks reporting-wise, so please step in and let us know what you're up to and the miles and times you are reporting. We miss you all.

I have not run since last Thursday, and it looks like the next one will be Friday. I hope my CV fitness doesn't crater, but I am building bigger miles than usual, by far, as for example we walked 8 miles sunday, and I put 120 minutes in the book for those 8. The 2 young ladies are covering Paris, and I'm the navigator, and money man.

Liz:

I hope you are improving, less swelling and more range of motion. That was a tough one, be sure to come back when you feel completely healthy.

Riley

Welcome, and thanks for the miles.

Scott

Wow, 2 PRs! You have reached that edge where you're so fit that every time out you can possibly shatter a personal best. Having run with you a bit May 4, I'm not surprised at all. We were running about 9 mpm and you were absolutely gliding.

Amy Beth

I always take your comments about lack of activity and fitness with skepticism. You are sooooo fit and sooooo active, and my first glance at you May 4 reinforced that perception. I hope your body is feeling more fresh and relaxed after the stresses you put it through in late April and early May.

Swim-mom

When you come back after illness or injury is definately doesn't pick up where you left it. You will find that it is quicker and easier to get back to your pre-down time level of fitness, as you have a base to fall back on.

Steve

When I left I had to promise Martha that I would behave. Irresponsible acts, such as stealing a policeman's hat and running away were expressly forbidden, and were any similar activities. Man, I've never been arrested, not even close, so I don't know where Martha gets these ideas that I might do something dumb when on my own :confused3 .

Steve and Krista

I saw you and Carter were in another auto accident. I'm so sorry, and well understand the worry that put you through. You be as careful as you can, and yet stuff happens outside your control. Still, be careful.

Howard

How in the he** can you turn in a 5 at 9:37 per mile so soon after Minnie, when, ahem, you were feeling the impact of your final semester of the program and zero training? Man, I train all the time to maintain this level and you step up to it in no time.

Congratulations on your really quickly pending completion of the degree. I suppose Cam is as ready for this as you are.

Martha

Je t'aime. Je vais cherche tu a la 10 heure samedi matin.

Best to all
Craig

Hello everyone!

Scott - WTG!! You always amaze...:worship:

Amy- you put in so much activity time every week - you're my inspiration for getting in the core/pilates/yoga and to keep moving. Hope you're feeling better.

Steve - yep, Pat and I are in for the Pig. Like Amy, I plan quite a ways out. Oh and Carter will do something like that....watch out for remotes in the dishwasher.

Craig - glad the power is finally back. Found out when you asked for help last week that I only have read access to the sheet. Any idea who can change that in case you need something again?

Howard - WTG!!

Mel - sounds like you had a pleasant and productive weekend.

To everyone I missed - Hey There!!

Still at home -doc wouldn't give me clearance to go back to work until I came into office so have appt this afternoon.

As for me, had to cut the camping trip short and came home Sunday. Had been hoping to do some walking on the trails there (stayed at state park) but very uneven and Patrick was not thrilled with the idea of my navigating those. Also could not get comfortable enough to sleep more than an hour at a time. Fortunately only a 1.5hr drive from home.

We realized were only an hour from Madison, WI so took a ride up there before heading home. They had a 1/4, 1/2 and full marathon and knew some WISHers would be there but didn't see any shirts. Plus, Brat Fest at the finish line. Oh yeah. They actually had a Boca Brat - who knew - and it was pretty darn good. Loaded it with some beer mustard and kraut. Skipped the beer as it was really windy and quite cool. Did however have some fantastic locally made ice cream - butter pecan. Managed to walk around the fest for about an hour. Slow but did it.

Yesterday went grocery shopping and couple small errands. Getting in/out of the car still difficult since raising the right leg too far causes pain. Can definitely tell where everything connects when I try to stretch! I'm going crazy around here and try to do too much (like yesterday). See I figure I should be healed by now. After all, it's been over a week! :worried: Yep, great with encouraging patience in others, not so much with myself. Need to get back out, back to gym, back to something!!

Today have twingy type pain and general soreness. Is easing up and almost all the swelling has gone down. Must...get.. back....out.....

Steve: I am note sure if I have anything in the tank (or ever had) to crank out a 3:30. You sure do. I suppose if I lost 50 pounds, lifted weights and toned up, ate right and trained my tush off, there might be a chance…. Nah!

My real plan for MCM is to get a PR and to do so by finishing around 4:15 to 4:30ish. My PR is 4:41 (May 2006 – Delaware Marathon). I will then (hopefully) parley that into an even faster PR in Philly in November. We’ll wee how it all plays out. I will be investing in mileage and XT over the next few months. I hope I reap its dividends in October & November.

Craig: I finished with an overall 9:37 but it wasn’t pretty. The first congested mile was about 9:07, the second was a sub-8. I was at 27 something at the 3 mile mark. I guess that is when I began to lose it… I walked a bit to catch my breath several times and picked it back up again. I jogged it to the finish. I have run the 5 miler 5 times, my best time was May 27, 2006, 44:18, 8:52. Not surprisingly, that was the summer I trained for the Delaware Marathon which was exactly one week before.

Thanks again for the Congrats on the commencement. I am sure Cam will take a lot of photos and post them. I am sure we are both ready for this.

Thank you Liz!! :goodvibes

Craig,
Sorry so lata with the data, but..
Real life keeps intruding..
I Know, "How Rude!"

8.18 Miles
1.0 Hours

So wasn't a banner week, but good things come to those who sweat, and we'll be doing it the last week of May.
I can't count my Mem Day Weekend distance/time in this one, but will surely help that end of month kick for us Bunnies.

Regards to all, and safe miles, too !

Patrick
