Team 6 - Team Ohana - Check in and introduce!

I should say, I'd be happy to ride with Denny, too, if that worked best - how may seats will you have open, Mel? I don't care if we do a cab or share rides - either way is OK by me. Don't you hate it when people say that? My whole family is that way, so I come by it honestly.

I'm bringin' the bus! We have a Sienna minivan, so I'll have 5 or 6 extra seats. Not everyone likes to get there early like I do though, so it's up to y'all. I also park at EPCOT so if you want to go directly to AK, you may want Denny or a cab.

Just FYI, I'm down with early, whatever that means. And the bus from Epcot is OK by me too.

Early depends on whether or not I sleep the night before ;)

I could pick you guys up at 4:30...a.m.

I'm getting bombarded with Minnie talk from everywhere! One of my friends (who used to work for Disney) got married yesterday & 2 of the other bridesmaids were her friends from Disney. It turns out one of them is running the Minnie too. Plus she is either running the half or the full next year (something about cast members getting to register until December?? I don't know if that is true) so we were talking all about that yesterday. Too crazy.

HEY COUSINS!! I found some Hawaiian fabric today and the great news is that is was on sale. I hope I bought enough for our Ohana demand. I also bought plain lime for Mickey Heads. The Hawaiian is on a red background, so appropriate for men and women. I will make up a sample and post it around Monday or Tuesday. DD5's b-day party is tomorrow and I will be swamped with that.

I hope you all like what I found.

Great news, Jen - sale fabric is my favorite. :) I'm sure it will be great. Good luck with DD's birthday party and have fun!

4:30 sounds workable to me as well. Assuming I get to go. Unfortunately, it is a little up in the air at the moment and pretty much out of our hands. Did I mention that our dog has giardia? Well, he does, and unless he gets a negative on the more sensitive test on Wednesday, he can't go into the daycare/kennel as we'd planned. He's too young and irresponsible to stay home alone with visits from a pet sitter. You can see where this is leading, I'm sure. So, if you don't mind, would you cross your fingers that this ELISA test turns out negative? :thanks:

So you'll be joining us at Sci-Fi then? YAY! Jenni wants Terry to see the Indiana Jones show. Do you have any idea of how frequently they run? We haven't done that one in years.

One last question.....it's going to be 37 years, right? I was supposed to get back to V&A's and never did. I will call them today and confirm and also make sure men don't need ties. Last I heard it was collared shirts and jackets, which means John will wear a dark golf shirt and sports coat. I want to wear something very comfortable so I can go to MK afterwards (it's open until 2am with EMH) I'll probably wear my Chicos travelwear that you've seen a dozen times on the cruises. Then I can just slip into my Crocs after dinner. At my age I don't care what I look like.

Sorry for hijacking the thread........

37 years is correct. I am wearing the dress I bought at Kohl's with sandals. Norm is planning to do the golf shirt and sports jacket.

4:30am is fine for me also.

Corinna--- I thought your dog had a test that was negative? Is this like at the hospital you need 3 negatives before you can get out of isolation? I hope that everything works out and you can still make the Minnie.

Jean-- Please let us know what we owe you. I can't see you paying for the material and doing all the work without some form of compensation.

Shell--- It is really a small world at times. Did you warn her about the Lime green shirts.

Did 5 miles yesterday, today is a rest day. I am trying to get laundry caught up so I can maybe pack ahead of time.

Nancy

Just a drive-by post to let all my Minnie Ohana teammates to know that I'm so excited for you. And I expect pictures to go with the race reports!

A special shout-out to Jen: Thanks so much for picking up the cloth & making our Ohana team colors so visible to everyone! You're all going to look so mah-va-lous & coordinated.

As for me: I know I haven't posted in a couple of days, but have been busy, busy, busy. This weekend's 10-mile LR (completed, if not stellar), production of King Lear (3 hours of uplifting fun), and the never-ending house hunt (the place we thought we were going to get is a no-go). I'm in between errands right now, but I just wanted you to all know that I'm thinking of all of you! I hope your weekends are rocking, rolling, running fun! :cheer2:

OH, and Losties? Hmmm:rolleyes1 ......

Urg - yes. We did have a negative, but evidently giardia is one of those that only shows up sometimes on the regular test. They have a more specialized test that finds a certain enzyme associated with giardia, so you could have a negative regular test ad then a positive ELISA test. I'm not an expert, of course, but I'm getting there. :sad2: She didn't want to do the ELISA any earlier than necessary because evidently there is a chance that some of this enzyme could stick around in the system beyond the infection. :scared:

Nancy: V&A called me Friday before I had a chance to call them. I told them 37 so I'm glad that was right. They reviewed the dress policy.......no flip-flops, tennis shoes, shorts, capris, t-shirts for women. Men must wear a collared shirt, jacket and business style shoes. Ties are optional. Your sandals should be fine as long as they're not too casual. I think they try to suggest cocktail attire, but won't say anything as long as it's not on the list of definite no-nos. I asked about a nice pants-suit and she said that was fine. I've decided to take the Chico's outfit because it travels so well and if we do something afterwards I will be comfortable. I don't know if we should try to make Jellyrolls......going from resort to resort and back again can be exhausting. We should probably just play it by ear.

Mel: if your offer still stands, we would love to go with you. We will be a group of 4, if you can handle it. (Me, John, Nancy and Corinna). If it's a go, please PM me your cell #, and I will do likewise, just in case we need to get in touch. When do you arrive at "the world"?

Corinna: sending you pixie dust in hopes that everything works out OK.

Debra: we just bought a new teeny tiny digital camera that we plan to take with us during the Minnie. We had a nice Canon, but it was too clunky to carry around most of the time. Hopefully with this new smaller one we will take more photos. I especially hope we can get all the Ohana-ites at either the beginning or end of the race. If we do, I will definitely post them.

Cool with me! Do y'all want to meet up at the Hospitality House or maybe one of the other bus stops? We're leaving here Fri around 2:30...we'll be at WDW around 4 or 4:30. We'll probably go to the Expo first, then to VWL for check-in then Boma for dinner.

TEAM OHANA... I have one bandana done. Please let me know what you think. I may not have time to stitch the Mickey Heads, so I hope that is OK.

I have to pick up more fabric, my math brain wasn't working the first time. The cost per bandana is about $2. I will have them at the WISH meet. Jeanne and Nancy, I will bring yours to the start of the race.

Jen, that is SUPER cute. Love it. Please don't worry too much about stitching the Mickey heads. The bandanas alone are worth the price of admission. You did a great job of picking. And like I said, sale fabric is my favorite kind. :) I can't imagine a Hawiiaan fabric that would look better with our WISH gear. Thanks so, so much.

I am on to many threads again I must have missed the past couple of days of posting on this thread.

Jen---The bandana's look great. Thanks again for all your hard work.

Mel--- I think I did send you a pm to confirm that 4:30am at Hospitality House is fine.

Jeanne--- My dress is a polyster blend that can also be rolled into a ball and still look good. It was one of those Kohl's bargains. I'm wearing either my Eastland sandals or Ecco sandals so either should be fine as with the dress they look appropriate. I have Norm's Jacket, golf shirt and pants hanging out already so I don't forget to pack them. I am just for going to MK after V&A, after eating and drinking all the food and wine, if I spend to much time in one place to get there I might fall asleep. I will need to be moving around after that meal. I am so looking forward to V&A.

Corinna--- I hope your dog's test results come back negative and you are able to do the Minnie.

Today is my last day at work. Taking Thursday off to do all those necessary things that need to be done before a trip which really only another women knows what I mean. Sorry guys.

Just a few more days until I meet up with so many of my cousins from Team Ohana.

Nancy

So, the Giardia test came back negative. I'm in, guys. I'd better get cracking on that packing! Thanks to everyone who crossed fingers, whispered a prayer or wished us good luck!

Mel: for now, let's plan to meet at Hospitality House. If after check-in we're all the way down at Southpoint or whatever, we'll re-evaluate and let you know on your cell.

Jen: the bandanas look great! Thank-you so much for doing this. I will have a fanny pack with me on race day, so I can pay you for it then. Mel is getting us there nice and early!

Nancy: if you know of anywhere you want to eat in October let me know and I will do the ressies. Maybe we should determine if we are doing MNSSHP or one of the concerts first?

Here is my Bandana List...

Jeanne
Jen
Mel
Corinna
Nancy

Denny and Jim - DO YOU WANT ONE? It's not too late, just let me know. I won't bring any extra's to the start unless I am told to.

Debra - I have you down for a Bandana after the Minnie.

ANYONE ELSE? Let me know so I can get the correct amount of fabric before it's all sold out.

Denny and Jim: PLEASE say you want a bandana! We gotta let the world know that not all the cousins are female!
