I'll let her tell "the story" of our entertainment on the race course.

We had a wonderful evening at V&A to celebrate our anniversaries. Her and I had quite the buzz on after dinner from the wine pairing. I'm amazed they let us into MK for EMH. Nancy

We got back very late last night and I spent most of the morning doing laundry and going through mail. It was great to see so many WISHers! I finally got to meet Corinna but was disappointed that I never met Jim. We were unable to attend the meet at POR so I also missed out on meeting alot of the newbies.

Nancy and I had a great race and a really fun time. As usual we got into some very deep mischief due to a MAJOR episode of foot and mouth disease on my part. I am totally regretting it only because the object of my misassumption was actually a very nice person and I wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it until we were in the parking lot after the race was over. It is actually quite a funny story and typical of the sort of situation i'm always finding myself into. Here is my account and Nancy can embellish or correct it if I don't have it right. We were pretty much in a loose pack with alot of WISH walkers when this guy nearby gets the wonderful idea that he is going to sing "99 bottles of beer on the wall" to make the race go faster. Nancy and i decide we are NOT going to listen to that and break away to get away from the guy singing. It's probably around Mile 3 or so. We meetup with this very tall lady(?) and another woman who are walking at a very nice and constant pace so we decide to follow them. The woman(?) is very attractive and is wearing full make-up and has her hair perfectly styled. She is also VERY tall (over 6ft, 3 inches I found out later). Well, when she opens her mouth to speak, the voice is just not right. And just like Lola, she walks like a woman, but she talks like a man. Nancy and I are convinced that our new walking buddy is actually a transsexual. Apparently this lady has done most of the Disney events and ALL of the Goofy races. She lives in FL, so I ask if she works for Disney and she laughs and tells us she is retired. So Nancy and I are trying to figure out how she can be retired at so young an age without being outright nosey about it. Then she starts talking about her "husband" and i'm trying tp figure out if he is male or female or maybe even the gal she is running with. So we finally exchange names and I hear what is a VERY MALE name so I get the AHA! confirmation that I am right. Of course, Nancy (who apparently has better hearing) heard something else, but at this point I am thinking OK I am right, the lady really IS a dude and if her name is what she just told me then she's not hiding anything. Finally at MGM she slips into a bathroom (lady's room, I am quick to note) and tells us she will catch up. I remark to her friend that she is "gorgeous" which means I am politely commenting that her transformation (surgery?) has been very successful. Then the friend informs us that although the lady will never volunteer this information, she was one of the original American Gladiators. She tells us she was "(and i hear same male name)" on the show. And my brilliant response to her is, "Wow, was she a she or a he back then?" (One of these days i will learn to control my mouth) Well the friend looks at me like I am a total nutcase and says "She was a she, of course!" Then the lady catches back up with us and I don't say anything else, but I do continue to address her by the male name I think she told me and now I am totally confused. After the race, Nancy and I were telling John the story, and that's when I first realized I heard the name wrong. Nancy did not realize I was addressing her with a male name until we were talking to John. She seems to think that all the testosterone she probably took to bulk up gave her secondary male attribites, but personally I still really think she is a man. I have purposely NOT told you the actual name, because people sometimes Google themselves and I would not want to hurt this person's feelings by reading what I just wrote because they were both very nice to us. I just hope her friend never tells her what I said.

Well, first off, I think anyone who can sing 99 bottles of beer on the wall during an endurance event might want to think about getting his heart rate up a little higher.....but then I'm not here to judge. :)

Secondly, Nancy, you come across as being just the sweetest lady - I'm sure her friend knew you didn't mean to offend.

So, more excitement here. Now the dog has a broken toe. There goes my running buddy for 4 weeks. I ran 2 miles this morning - he stayed home. He's all bandaged up and has a doggie cone - it's quite pathetic, really. At least it's not contagious, I guess.

Corrina - I hate to ask how your dog broke a toe???? :confused3 My dog had a cone for 2 weeks and she was a big golden. Watch your calves, because when they plow into you with that cone on it really hurts!! Once she practically scooped up my DD who was about 3 at the time. Knocked her right over!!!

Jeanne - OK, I read this last night and wasn't quite sure how to respond. I was laughing inside because I can just see your face when it all happened!!! Now my mind is going wild wondering what Gladiator she was!!!!! I used to watch that show when I was in college. I hate to say, but most of the women were very manly... it's the opposite of Dude Looks Like a Lady!!!!!!

Ok team Ohana... I have been a bit down since Minnie. I really decided that after seeing the horrible pics of my thunderous thighs that weight loss needs to come to the fore front again. I don't know why I became so lax on it. I lost 30 pounds... then I was up to 40.... now I am back to 30. UGHHHH. I need to get the last 30 OFF!!!

Forgive me as I am self-indulgent for a moment ...today is our 15th wedding anniversary, and dh gave me a beautiful eternity band! It is perfect for me, just like dh! He really surprised me, because we weren't going to do anything big this year as we are postponing a celebratory trip. He said did want to do something memorable because it is a big anniversary. This meant so much to me...:lovestruc

No workouts yesterday or today, but I promise to be back earning those miles and minutes tomorrow! :cool1:

Corinna -- Oh my goodness, your poor puppy! And poor puppy-Mommy!I hope the healing all happens as it should. :dogdance:

Jeanne -- That was a story worth waiting for! Dare I mention that if the person had been naked, you would have had your answers?! :rotfl2:

Christa -- You are our official mileage queen! You go, girl!

Ok, everyone hang in there. That glow you seem from the computer screen is actually me beaming with joy. I have truly been blessed to marry my soulmate, and I'm spreadin' the love! :cloud9:

Maria :cake:

Jen -- You know I am with you on "getting the last 30 off"! Ok, in my case it's a little more, but I am with you, and we will focus!

Maria

You know, I don't really know how he broke his toe. It happened at daycare, and he's a bit of a wild player, cavorts over the doggie furniture and stuff. They noticed he was holding it up, though, and separated him from the group until I could come to pick him up.

Jen, I'm with you on the Minnie photos - I can't believe how I look in those pictures. 30 lbs sounds about right for me, too. I'm in - starting right now.

Also, I'm an irresponsible owner - I already took the cone off of him - he didn't seem to be able to...you know....whiz while wearing that thing. He'll have to wear it when we can't watch him closely, but he seems to be leaving it alone for now - the boy has a good "leave it."

Maria - first of all, congratulations on your marriage, your ring and your anniversary. May you have many more years of joy together. :cloud9:

second of all, I'm cracking up, thinking of the Minnie Marathon being a clothing optional race. :rotfl:

JEANNE!!!! Mel told me that you found a bib belt so that you can do the nekkid races. Dude... you rock!

Maria--- I already congratulated you on the walkers thread, but here is another Happy 15th Anniversary

Today happens to be our 37th anniversary which is why we were celebrating with Jeanne and John who will have their 34th 5/11 at V&A.

Corinna--- I was also wondering how your dog broke a toe. I never even really thought about them having toes. Your poor dog has had one thing after another.

I'm with everyone that I need to lose some weight. Mine isn't so much the picture as it looks the same as the one from Marathon weekend when I was already to heavy. It is trying to squeeze my big butt into the summer clothes or is it my big gut. Between the butt and gut there is not much room for my body to fit into my summer capris. It is a sad. I need to lose some of this weight or when I go on the 15 day PC cruise, I can just roll off the ship as I will be as fat as I am tall.

Nancy

JEANNE!!!! Mel told me that you found a bib belt so that you can do the nekkid races. Dude... you rock!

I can verify that the first words out of Jeanne's mouth she could use that for that Naked race this summer. :thumbsup2

If Jeanne doesn't care we could probably send you a pm with her bib number and name. Both our husbands remember her.

Nancy

Nancy and Jeanne -- I can't say it enough (well, I guess I can since I'm posting all over the place today!) Happy Anniversary

Over 30 years (almost 40 for Nancy!), is a wonderful accomplishment. You guys rock! :rockband:

Maria

JEANNE!!!! Mel told me that you found a bib belt so that you can do the nekkid races. Dude... you rock!

That is true. I bought one of those Spibelts at the Expo. The lady pointed out that one of the advantages is that it has little hooks you can attach your bib to so you don't have to use safety pins......which makes it perfect for all those nekkid races I plan to do. You know I was really losing lots of sleep over the pin dilemma. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Happy Anniversary, Maria!!!!! Enjoy your special day and the wonderful gift!

Ohh, I have been eyeing those belts since last year. I think they are great for my short runs because I still carry a cell phone (and mace, but that a different story!)

HAPPPPPPYYYYYY ANNIVERSARY to all the COUSINS! My b-day is next week so I will join you in the celebrations.

I am glad my cousins are all in on losing weight. I need all the inspiration and butt kicking I can get!!!!

I'm not sure if I officially thanked Mel for picking us up at OKW and driving us to EPCOT. So a big Thank You to her.

Jen-- Thanks again for the bandana. I have washed it and have it packed with all my WISH race items for the ToT.

I developed a blister on my 2nd toe and have done nothing since the Minnie because of it. It has been all sandals, thank goodness it is warm weather. I probably won't get in any more training this week since I am doing the Race for the Cure on Sunday. At least that is only a 5K. After that race I have nothing planned until ToT.

Nancy

Morning Cousins. I'm enjoying that this was only a 4 day work week. I wish I had that every week.

Christa-- I really enjoyed your race report and pictures. Didn't your feet mind being wet in your sneakers. I think that would have bothered me. It looks like you and your sister had alot of fun.

I am doing the Race for the Cure on Sunday. Though it is a charity event it is still a race including bibs. I didn't expert that. So I was going to walk with DH, but more than likely that isn't going to happen. Will be cheering him on at the end. No WISH shirt this weekend as I will be proudly wearing my Pink Survivor Shirt.

I know there are several others doing that race this weekend so good luck them and thanks to Deb for getting us motiviated to do a charity event.

We are leaving Sat and staying over night. I just saw on TV that there is a Wine and Food Festival Sat night so I might have to check that out. The best race time wise I did was when Jeanne and I consummed several glasses of wine the night before our 1st half marathon.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Nancy

Christa: just read your report........what a crazy race! It sounds like a ton of fun, but probably not a good one for me. I'm sure I would have twisted my ankle or something similar on that rocky course. Way to go, girl!

Nancy: I did the math and our pace for the Minnie was 14:35......if I remember correctly that was the exact pace we did in Allentown. I didn't drink before the Minnie, but we sure made up for it afterwards!

Yes, three cheers for Mel! Thanks for the ride - it was great to arrive at the 15K with the Ohana posse!

Jeanne, you have to be careful with those spibelts - I was running behind someone in DHS for a while who had one on - she had something heavy in it and it kept pulling her shorts down in back, so there was a peek-a-boo undies effect going on. Not that that would be a problem in a nekkid race....:rotfl:

And my slimming Ohana buddies - should we have a weigh-in day? An Ohana Slim-down thread?

And my slimming Ohana buddies - should we have a weigh-in day? An Ohana Slim-down thread?

I would be ok with a weigh in day as long as I don't actually have to post my weight and only post what I lost. I would prefer a mid week weigh in.

Jeanne-- I really like that pace. I'm know we were below that pace at the beginning to get a cushion, but once we have that I like a 14:30 pace it is comfortable and you can talk and still enjoy what is going on around you. Of course maybe the talking part for you might not always be a good thing. :rotfl2:

Anyone else catch LOST last night. This show takes more twists and turns and answers a few questions, but opens up alot more. Isn't there just a couple episodes left until the fall?

Nancy

ACK - heavens forbid we should have to post what we weigh!! Pounds lost is all I was suggesting. :) I just know I do better with a little accountability. Are other people finding that on other WISH threads?

I Of course maybe the talking part for you might not always be a good thing. :rotfl2:

Nancy

I'm sorry, I checked her(?) out on the web and I am still convinced she's a "he"!

Corinna: I know some runners wear next to nothing during a race (my daughter is one of them), but I typically have 3 layers: real undies (because my momma always told me to), compression shorts (to keep from chafing) and running capris (because I don't like the way I look in compression shorts alone!) i seriously doubt a spibelt could pull all that down! :rotfl2:
