Team 6 - Team Ohana - Check in and introduce!

Thanks so much for doing this Jen.

Gosh, the things I learn on the WISH thread. Know I know how I am getting to the start of the race. :rotfl2:

If you guys are at OKW, I can swing by and pick you up. I'm at VWL, right around the corner. I usually park at EPCOT and ride the bus over to AK (that way the van is at the finish). I go early and try to catch the first or second bus to avoid problems.

Yes, everyone meets in the morning before the race. We got a great team photo from ASI last year before the race.

The bandanas sound great!

Thanks, Mel, but we are now a group of 4 and probably won't fit in your car.

It's good to know they won't have corrals. We'll be wearing our WISH shirts (of course) so it should be easy to spot everyone on race morning. I hope we can get a Team Ohana photo also! I just LOVE my team!

Jeanne--We can always start off the day with a warm up walk to Epcot to get the bus. ;) The four of us in a cab works alot better than walking. You can fill me in with the meeting time later. Did you ask for a room near HH? I forgot to do that so more than likely will be back at Turtle Pond. Also
just wanted to let you know paid off the cruise on Sat.

Mel--- That is so nice of you to volunteer to pick us up, but as Jeanne said there will be 4 of us.

Jen--- I am so bad at remembering names and faces especially after just meeting them only one time. My memory of you and Mel is that you were walking with Big Vic toward the end of the race by BWV and I walked behind you for a few minutes. And either you or Mel asked your DH to get you a Coke, I was so thirsty for a really cold soda that I thought I better leave you group or I might hurt who ever was getting that Coke as I stole it from them.
:rotfl2:

Have a great day cousins.

Nancy

Nancy - That was me that asked for a Coke. Mel wanted a Diet Pepsi. :lmao: Funny thing... DH met me at the Epcot ball and handed me the Coke... I was like what the ???? I told him to let me finish first. He thought I was really in need of it NOW! :rotfl2:

Ok, so I checked the dollar store and they had a TON of grass skirts and little fake coconut tops. No bandanas. So I will hit Joann Fabrics this weekend and post my findings. I also need some Lime Green for the Mickey Heads.

I'm trying to do a lttle assessment of all the Ohana members that are doing the Minnie.......so far I have yours truly, Jen, Mel, Corinna, Denny and Nancy.
Did I leave anyone out? I'm so sad i won't be able to attend the WISH meeting, but I hope to see you all at the start.

M'Lisse and I will be there also.

So we have 6 Ohana-ites for the Minnie so far. I will aim to make that many bandanas (unless someone tells me that don't want one). Do any of our other teammates want one? I can whip up some more after the Minnie, I just need to know how much fabric to buy. They can be used as sweat rags also.

I already had you, Denny! (And I knew M'Lisse was doing it, but I needed to get an assessment of the actual Ohana members so Jen would know how many bandanas she needs.) But we do need to add Jim. So now I have me, Jen, Mel, Corinna, Denny, Nancy and Jim.......a total of 7 Team Ohana members.

Thanks so much for the offer, but it still leaves us one seat short. As it strands right now, Corinna, Nancy, John and I will probably call a cab, but we do appreciate it.

I'd like one for future events, any time after the Minnie, and before ToT: just let me know how much I owe you for materials, labor, shipping. Thanks, Jen, for volunteering the time and labor (you too, Corrina). I love our team!

(Okay, so I love all the teams, but you know what I mean! :goodvibes )

Jeanne,
I feel like I'm messing up your chance to get a ride from Mel - if you want to take her up on it, I don't mind. Or if you want more room in the cab, I wouldn't mind riding with Mel, the WISH-shirt hero of 2008.

Jen,
I wonder if we are going to continue getting new teammates as the year goes on. I would be happy to sponsor the purchase of some reasonable quantity of just-in-case extra fabric. Sometimes stuff disappears as the seasons change. Somebody stop me if I am sounding like a crazy person.....

Training - So I am getting less worried about being able to actually go on the trip and actually finish these races. I went out today and did 6.75 miles in the rain with the dog, who has now tested negative for the giardia that would have kept him out of the boarding daycare place next week. He is turning into a good running buddy. My feet and ankle are doing pretty good - I am going to ice again in a bit, just to be safe. I walked up the hills, to conserve energy, as well, which makes an amazingly HUGE difference. They are big hills and one of them just keeps on going and going.

By the time I stopped, I really felt like I had a few more miles in me, but it started to rain harder again, so I headed for home. Didn't want to overdo on my first big run in a while. As it was, my running clothes were soaked like a bathing suit. I'm not sure if I am going to get another good longer run in before the race or just call it good. I hate winging it with training, but when things get so messed up, what else can you do?

Corinna: whatever you decide is fine with me. If you do go with Mel, then the 3 of us can probably squeeze in with Denny. But it's really not a big deal. I'm sure the cabfare can't be that much and I'm happy to spring for the whole thing. Whatever you prefer is fine with me, but just let me know either way, so we're all on the same page.

I should say, I'd be happy to ride with Denny, too, if that worked best - how may seats will you have open, Mel? I don't care if we do a cab or share rides - either way is OK by me. Don't you hate it when people say that? My whole family is that way, so I come by it honestly.

I don't care either how we get there as long as I don't have to walk there. Just let me know where and when. I usually let Jeanne handle my travel arrangements and then have her remind me a zillion times as I always get days and times mixed up. :cool1:

Corrina-- Glad your feet/ ankle issues are doing better.

Next week at this time I should be in the air on my way to WDW. I am excited to meet my fellow Ohana Cousins.

Nancy: what time does your flight get in again? Mine gets in at 8:30 but I'm going to wait at MCO for Jenni and Terry (maybe buy some wine if any of the stores are open!). They were supposed to get in around 9:05, but their flight has been pushed back and they will be getting in closer to 9:30. We may end up on the same ME afterall!

My flight is scheduled to land at 10am. So I doubt we will be on the same bus, but depending on how many stops there are on ME getting to OKW we might be at check in around the same time. We plan to go to DHS after check in so we can catch the Car Action Show that is early afternoon so we can meet you at Sci Fi.

Nancy

So you'll be joining us at Sci-Fi then? YAY! Jenni wants Terry to see the Indiana Jones show. Do you have any idea of how frequently they run? We haven't done that one in years.

One last question.....it's going to be 37 years, right? I was supposed to get back to V&A's and never did. I will call them today and confirm and also make sure men don't need ties. Last I heard it was collared shirts and jackets, which means John will wear a dark golf shirt and sports coat. I want to wear something very comfortable so I can go to MK afterwards (it's open until 2am with EMH) I'll probably wear my Chicos travelwear that you've seen a dozen times on the cruises. Then I can just slip into my Crocs after dinner. At my age I don't care what I look like.

Sorry for hijacking the thread........

Just wanted to add one thing........assuming I get a Minnie medal (and i think it's a big assumption given the pace requirements) I AM wearing it to V&A's!!!!!:thumbsup2

Plus I wil have my Minnie Earrings to complete the outfit.

I know the Indiana Jones show is shown more than the Car show so you should have no problem working that in. The only reason we wouldn't be at Sci Fi is that we didn't make it to the Car show and then would have to do the 4:30pm, but would call you to let you know.
