Team 6 - Team Ohana - Check in and introduce!

Welcome to Jen B and Kayci. :welcome:

Jeanne-- Were you having a senior moment when you welcomed Jayci who is really Kayci? Now it is bad when I find that you made a mistake it is usually the other way around.

Nancy

ooops, I guess I did have a senior moment....or, I was doing too many things at one time! Sorry, Kayci! I'll correct it.....
WELCOME, KAYCI! :welcome:

(at least I wasn't wasted, like someone I know!):scared1:

Julie, my library had it so I figured I would try it out and see if it is something I may need to buy for reference later. Glad you are also thinking of getting (I felt a little crazy for picking it up, like over-protective crazy). But my oldest DD who will be 8 is already feeling the pressures and talks about things I never even heard of when I was that age.

Jen - I just ordered it from my library too, so we can be crazy and over-protective together! Although, from the reviews I've read, it seems like a great resource for parents of girls.

I've got another Jen song. One of my coworkers (who has a daughter named Jennifer) played it for me and I cracked up-- its called 27 Jennifers-- the only lyric I remember is "I went to school with 27 Jennifers..."

The heat here is killing me. I live in NJ and it isn't supposed to be 95 with 90% humidity :furious: I tried to run today and was a total ball of sweat in the 1st 1/2 mile and had to force myself to keep going.

Oh, sure, Debra gets a song about being beautiful, and I get "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" Ok, who else has their own song?!

Maria

I get "Open the Door, Richard"

Open the door, Richard,
Open the door and let me in,
Open the door, Richard,
Richard why don't you open the door?

Open the door, Richard,
Open the door and let me in.
Open the door, Richard,
Richard, why don't you open the door?

I'm standing here diggin' in my hip-pocket,
And I'm stand-in' here scratch-in' in my pants-pocket,
And I'm standing here grop-in' in my coat pocket,
And I just can't find that key.

Open the door, Richard,
Open the door and let me in,
Open the door, Richard,
Richard why don't you open the door?
Open the door?

A few years ago my DD (now 19) was telling me about this great new song by a group called Boston featuring her name...Amanda. She didn't believe me when I tried to tell her how old the song was until after she looked it up on the internet!

I've been trying to think of a few more songs...

Cheer up, Sleepy Jeanne! Oh, what can it mean to a, Daydream Believer and a, homecoming queen! (can't go wrong with Davy Jones!)

Oh, Little Jeannie (or Elton)

Joanna, I love you... (this was the Commodores, or someone like them)

I'm sure more will come to us!

Richard, Jen & JenB -- Very interesting songs! I don't think I could ever forget 867-5309...

I did my 2 miles this morning, then started on "The Great HouseClean". My dad, his wife (my mom passed in 2002), and my aunt are coming from Missouri to visit July 3rd. So, of course my list is completely done. DH has yet to begin his...we'll see if he gets more of it done than usual. On the bright side, I have to cut him some slack because he did do our finances and minutes for a church meeting today, so it wasn't like he slept while I worked.

This is going to be interesting. Until my Aunt moved near Tampa to live with her son, she'd never really been out of Chaffee, MO, population 3,000. I'm hoping the big city isn't too much for her. She does ok near Tampa, but if I know my cousin they never leave the cul de sac. :scared1: She's also my dad's older sister, which means he doesn't actually listen to her. They're driving cross country, assuming they all make it without anyone receiving bodily harm... Luckily we can see fireworks from our lawn (not the big show at the Esplanade that's on tv with the Boston Pops, but plenty for us), so the 4th should be very pleasant. It's been a long time since I heard "Youun's"...

I won't have time for 4 miles tomorrow between church and DS's piano recital, but I am going to get two in, which is better than 0!

Richard -- I love the song "Amanda", also "Amy", "Sarah, Smile" and "Pamela", "Rosanna" -- and that song with all the names, "Mambo No. 5". I'm glad you posted the lyrics to your song, because I've never heard it before!:goodvibes

JenB -- It does seem that for a few years there everyone was named Jennifer! My mom had the same thing, in her teeny tiny rural town, there were 5 Shirleys in the Kindergarten class of 1941 -- all named after Shirley Temple. ::yes::

Julie & Jen -- Raising girls is hard work these days! I have 3 nieces, 18, almost 17 and 8, and I can't believe how many angles my SIL and BIL have to consider every time they make a decision about the girls. I applaud you for reading about the issues :thumbsup2

Debra -- You are too kind! I would love to make it to ComicCon, sad to say I haven't yet. I have attended a few Star Trek conventions, but not in costume, and mostly because I really wanted to see Brent Spiner and Jonathan Frakes. It was amazing and scary to see how they could control the crowd with a mere gesture or word. A little creepy, too ;)

Johanna -- Congratulations on C25K and your Veterans status! :yay:

Christa, Mel, Kayci, Nancy, Robert, Shell, Dave & Erica -- I hope you're all having a fabulous weekend! :cool1:

Someday I will make it back to the Lean Mean thread. I can only seem to post on one lately, so I've been trying to alternate, but the Lean Meaners must think I'm MIA...ok, gotta see how much of the Graham Norton show I can catch. I do love BBC America!

Maria :surfweb:

Let's see...I did okay with the song thing. Gregg Allmann penned Sweet Melissa just for me. And Barry Manilow mentions Sweet Melissa in the second stanza of Could It Be Magic. And of course, there was the Melissa computer virus...written by some dude who apparently attended UCF around the same time I did. :rolleyes1

Nancy...I'm a mooch when it comes to Janet Evanovich. My mom buys them all so I read them when she's done. Haven't gotten 14 yet.

Debra...you must read Evanovich. Just don't be a dork like I was and start with book 5 because you don't know they're in order  I'm betting you would be a Morelli fan. The 20 min run went really well!

Maria...if you ever come visit your aunt, holler. We're just just a bit down the road from Tampa. So if you were planning a costume for a Trekkie convention, what would you wear?

Teenage girls are hard. I think it's difficult to be a kid that age these days. Even looking at a 5yo ready to start kindergarten...seems like they're expected to know so much more than I was at that age.

Hi Everybody!

My "cloud" shoes are Nimbus gel 10s. I think I actually like my 8s better, but I needed more "spring" for daily wogs.

Fearless Fourteen is in my book pile. I have to get my books from the library or I would bankrupt us! I picked it up Thursday, but I'm making myself finish Ladies of Liberty before I start it, otherwise I'll never finish this book. I don't think I'll ever read another Cokie Roberts, I just find her grating. I love the Plum books, they are real gems. Her earlier books are also funny, but don't have the polish and bite of the Plums. Debra -- we were right about Ender's Game, and we are right about Janet Evanovich. Take the Plum Plunge! I like Morelli, but I'll admit I'm really a Ranger girl...:cool2: Babe....

Mel -- Hmmm. This is a toughie. Who would I be at a Trek Con? I probably have the body of Lwaxana Troi, but I think I'd be a Klingon, 'cause Worf's my guy. I guess I could be B'Elana Torres. I'm the most like her in alot of ways. For those of you that are scratching your heads -- Lwaxana Troy is Deanna Troi's mother. Deanna was the Counselor from the Next Generartion, the one who kept getting caught with Commander Riker, even though they weren't "together" any more. B'Elana Torres was the half Klingon/half human engineer from Voyager.

We spent 3 days in Wesley Chapel last summer, visiting my SIL's family before we started our Disney vacay. We travelled to Riverview one evening to meet up with DC and DA. I'll be honest, it was all a bit...sterile for me. It's so pretty, but I wouldn't want to live there full time. DSIL lives on a golf course, and it was just kind of creepy for me. Every single home was exactly the same. I guess that's why we have all the wonderful diversity in this country, we can all find what makes us happy! :thumbsup2

Ok, off to get ready for church. we should be there in 20 minutes and I'm still in my pjs, plus it's a 15 minute drive. Wish me luck!

Maria :scared:

I just got Fearless Fourteen yesterday, but I'm saving it for our kid-free weekend in July. I cannot wait to read it! I totally agree with you, Maria. Morelli is nice, but I'm a Ranger girl too! (I used this smiley face because I couldn't find a drooling one. I think Ranger would warrant a drooling smiley over a heart one. Oh well...)

Morning team. Just a few quick posts from me.

I had to search for a Nancy song and discovered that Frank Sinatra did an entire album entiled "Songs for Nancy" and Nancy is one of the song. Never realized that.

Did spin class yesterday which kicked my butt, the entire class was hill climbing. We are going to Gettysburg today which is only 45 minutes from my house to see the new Visitor Center. I have a Battleground audio CD that Jeanne had given me and going to make like tourists and travel around the battleground. We used to camp in that area and bike alot around the battlefield when my boys were little, but will take the lazy way today and use the car. Plus we just had Sirrus radio installed so we can enjoy that on the ride there.

Maria and Mel--I bought Fearliess Fourteen yesterday, but have to finish my current book before I start it. I buy mine at Sam's which have a big discount. I also have Borders card which gives you a 40% discount. There have been alot of new books out this summer, but I am trying to refrain from buying them all.

Debra---Janet Evanovich reading is such an easy read that you could finish a book a day in her Stephanie Plum series.

Time to hit the road.

Nancy

Lordy, lordy...Guess who's 40?

Sorry, Julie, I knew there was a reason I needed to go to my computer Friday night, but it just totally slipped my mind. (I try to stay offline during the weekend to preserve my sanity!) Well, I just had to send out a quick email to someone and there was you birthday reminder right on top of my keyboard!
So sorry, cousin! Forgive me for being late....hope your birthday was a blast!

HAPPYBELATEDBIRTHDAY, JULIE!!!!!
 :woohoo: :cheer2: party: :cake: :bday: :cake: party: :cheer2: :woohoo:

Oh how I love my cousins.... you are all the best!!! So we are back from camping. It rained yesterday and was really windy today, so we left early. But last night it wasn't raining and I said... I am going running. I DID! And DD's did a little lap with me, then Sadie (dog) and I went for a longer lap. I still GOT IT. I thought for sure I would run a minute and then die, but I ran almost 1 1/2 miles slow and steady. Little walk break in it and that's it. I was so proud of myself. I guess it took me a camping trip to get back on track. So I think I will go back to C25K and work on that for awhile. I have no races on tap, so I need something.

Mel and all the readers... I love you guys for telling me what the hot books are out there now. I have heard about Janet Evanovich but haven't read any (thanks for the start at 1 tip Mel!). I spend so much time with work books and kids books that I never take time to read other ones. One of my goals for the rest of the year is to take more time for me and do things "I" like to do.

Speaking of which, I finished this last week. I tested a pattern for a designer, so it was fun to do.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIE.... Did you do anything fun?????

Thanks for the birthday wishes - you guys are great! :goodvibes

40 doesn't feel so bad, but then again, it was such a busy weekend that I've barely had time to think about it. :rotfl: My birthday was yesterday and I spent the day cooking and cleaning for a dinner party we hosted last night. This morning I got up and ran 7 miles, then came home and baked a cake to get ready for DS 7th birthday party, which was today. Everyone is finally gone, the house is a mess, and I'm exhausted! On a more positive note, I'm excited to be part of the cougar club now. I'm sure Debra and Maria can give me some pointers on how to "cougar" (can that be a verb?)properly. :lmao:

Julie, I would think it is more important that you can go 7 miles no matter the age! Anyway, 40 is not so bad (as I just pass 42.5 by this month.), as it sure beats the alternative!

Happy Birthday!

pardon my ignorance but... what is the cougar club?:dance3:

(DD4 wanted the dancing smiles on this post)

Ha,ha....older women hitting on younger men.....think Demi Moore! (We should all look so good at her age)

Happy Birthday!

Thanks, Richard! 7 miles is the longest I've ever run, and I've only done it twice. Sometimes I think I'll never make it to 26.2 by January. :scared1:

I agree, 40 is better than the alternative!

Good Morning, Team Ohana!

I didn't do my 2 miles yesterday, or yet today. I'm hopeful for a little time tonight, but at this point it's just a hope...

My dh is 5 years older than I am, so I confine my "cougaring" to looking (as I'm sure all you other married ladies to older fellas do as well!).

I will post our miles/hours tonight, just never got around to it this weekend.

Julie -- Once you ramp up your mileage schedule in the Fall, you will very quickly get to the 20+ range. You'll be fine. If I can do a Half, you can do a Full! :thumbsup2

Jeanne -- If we had Demi's money, I suspect it would be alot easier to look that good! :lmao:

Richard -- We are definitely getting older and better! :goodvibes

JenB -- I have to watch ds10, 'cause he likes to read over my shoulder. He's :tiptoe: that one!

Jen -- You are so talented! The wall hanging is absolutely beautiful! And I knew you still had it! :thumbsup2

Nancy and Mel -- I have no willpower! I admit it, I started the Plum before I finished the other book. I have 30 pages left, so I will definitely finish this week. :dance3:

Ok, off to run a conference call. Wish me luck!

Maria
