Team 5: Herc's Heroes - May Miles/Hours Post Here!!

Kelly - Welcome to the group! It is great to have you here!

Allyson - I'm so sorry you are getting frustrated by W5D3. 2.6 miles is a lot for that pedometer to be off by though! Don't get frustrated if you have to take walk breaks - better to incorporate them rather than feel like you are getting frustrated and in a rut. Now that you've figured out your 2 miler I bet you'll really be flying though!

Kim - Welcome back!

As for me I went to hot yoga tonight. I may not have been properly hydrated beforehand, or else the room was hotter than usual and I was sweating like nobody's business and felt a little..hmm..funny in the head afterwards?
This week I'll be back in the groove a bit more. The rain is going away so time to get some more biking in! I'll be biking from the BF's house in to work tomorrow, so that is a nice 7 mile ride or so. This weekend is my first duathlon!!
Time to get ready for tomorrow and get some sleep. Have a good night all!

I can add 12 miles and 30 minutes of shoveling.

Please tell me you are shoveling beach sand or something, you poor thing you can't still be shoveling SNOW in late May can you?

Nope, it's ice. I work in a seafood department and when I open the department for the day, I have to ice down my cases. So in that respect, winter never ends. But it does pay the bills.

Hi Gang!

So how does this work?? Do we post minutes and miles?? Just running or all exercise??

I ran 3 miles yesterday--didn't keep track of time but probably 30-35 minutes. And did 45 minutes of yoga this morning.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Kelly!

We keep track of all of our exercise. Walking, running and biking count for both miles and minutes. Any other cross training goes towards minutes. If you participate in any races then it counts for double miles and double minutes (I believe...).

Everyone posts their totals differently. It is nice to keep the team updated during the week of how you are doing so we can all try to motivate each other. I believe the reporting period is from Saturday - Friday (has to do with when we started the competition on Feb 1). Honestly, I report Monday - Friday since that makes more sense to me, and as long as you keep up the same convention I think it all comes out in the wash at the end of the day.

Good luck!

I worked out on the Wii fit for a half hour. It's actually really interesting, helps teach you, and works you pretty hard. Though, me and yoga isn't a match made in heaven. But it did make me feel better so hopefully I can work at it and improve. The dbf was really impressed that "a video game made me sweat."

Hi Everyone,

The plan last week was to start back to a normal running routine. I planned on 4 for Mon, 6 for Wed, 2 for Thurs and 8-10 on Sat. At mile 3 on Monday I tore a muscle in my calf. The unfortunate part of the story is that I still had to do the 2 on Thursday because it was a timed requirement for the Army. The doc says I can walk until discomfort, but no running.

So last weeks total was 5miles and 44 min

So far this week I have walked 2.5 in 40 min

I hope everyone is doing well.

EPCOTDUDE--sorry about your calf! That's horrible that you had to still run on it. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

GirTheGecko--Is the WiiFit only yoga or are other fitness activities involved?

There's many different activities including strength and aerobics. There was also step aerobics. It surprised me. We did running, hula hoops, different things to work on your balance like a ski jump and tight rope. There's some games too. There's also a bunch of stuff we haven't tried since it's not unlocked yet. But it allows you to use your Mii and it tracks your time and progress. Also tells you your weight and stuff and allows you to set goals for yourself.

EpcotDude - Oh no! So sorry to hear about your calf muscle! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Gecko - That Wii fit sounds pretty cool!

Kim - Don't ask! I got up at 4:30 so I could get my run in this morning. With the cost of gas what it is, plus parking running $17/day at work...the bike thing seems like a no brainer. Luckily we have a great system of bike paths all throughout the city.

Just ran home from dd's softball game

1.6 miles
20 minutes
Allyson

Went with DH this morning and that makes me push harder just to try and keep up with him, or at least keep him in view! LOL!

We did:

2 miles
25:58 minutes

Running with some walk breaks in there too.
