I thought we were close enough to departure to be out of the woods with any more closures, expecting they would be announced by now.

I was wrong. Here is another one just listed. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/rehab.htm

So now two of my DD's fave rides are going to be closed when we go. Maybe I didn't pick the best dates for a surprise trip. I know a few closures won't ruin a holiday and it's not really a big deal, so why am I feeling so sad about it? I think I put too much emotion into this trip. :sad1:

I saw this last week - its really disappointing! If you're not in to the "dare devil" rides (I struggle with Space Mountain even!!) then they have take a lot of options away!

We do like the daredevil rides and although I can only take small doses of the spinning stuff, DD takes great delight in spinning me and watching me go green :rotfl: Her highlight last year one EMH night was riding again and again and laughing herself silly after round 2 when the CM came to my rescue and said "You can ride honey, but mom is getting off" One more spin and I could have made a re-run of that Vimto advert :rolleyes1

Oh and even worse: after all the ticker malark ..... I especially did a Teacup Ticker for DD's surprise yesterday .... looks a bit silly now! :sad2:

What a shame we have a picture of DD and DS hugging on the teacups on every Disney trip we have done from 2004 when we first went to Paris.

We shall have to try to replicate it now!

I was thinking maybe the Carousel - if they are good enought to keep that open for us  I have some cute pics of DD on there. We sit side by side on two horses and you get some interesting shots when one person is up and the other is down. I love the one where I have taken the shot down at her looking up at the camera one night. :thumbsup2

They are closed until November 12th (or was it 14th?)

Sorry to hear that! I have to admit I can't ride that one - far too much spinning  I don't mind fast or high, but I'm not very good with too much rotation!
It is a shame when something gets pulled at short notice - when you're planning so carefully and then things change.
Is there anything that wasn't working last time that will be now which you could think of as compensation?

Wise words last trip space mountain was closed. We arrive for 14 days on 22nd October - the day small world opens plus we arrive a couple of days before Winnie the pooh closes! I love singing my way round that ride!

Looks like we will be at okw the same time as you Igk or overlapping on dates.

Oh i'm sad it is closed for our whole trip.

Ours too. Having it open for at least a day or two during your trip is still okay, but a total no-go for us too. Maybe they will change it if they know we are coming. :rotfl:

My dd is gutted it too, I told her last week that the tea cups were closed for our trip and them along with small world is her favourite MK rides. I am hoping that small world might open early as at the moment it is scheduled to open the day after we leave. Luckily we do make the winnie the pooh ride before it closes.

It does seem as though they are doing a lot of refurbs just now

Oh my goodness, my hubby and daughter almost killed me on that one this year!!!! It is closely approaching the never again category for me - and that is empty so far at WDW!!!!

Don't worry, I can just about handle it in small doses but it is purely for my daughter. I have come close to SHARING SOME MAGIC on that thing ..... and I ain't talkin' Pixie Dust folks :rolleyes1 But DD will be SOOOO disappointed. I mustn't be a hypocrite. I always go on about keeping realistic expectations - it's just that this trip I think I have tried maybe a little too hard to make it all perfect for her.

Kermits colour is nothing on mine after being on that. Pretended to look disappointed when I told DD .Dont think I can bear another spinning around session.Sorry we havent got the option though as DB loves the old waltzers. Suppose theres always primeval whirl:scared1:

I am great on rides - take them all in my stride. But even the CM was watching our cup - DH is very strong!!!

Can't wait to hear about your DDs reaction - what a great thing to do - tea cups or no tea cups.

I'm one of the people who are not too disappointed...at least it's one less ride for my to have to stand watching and holding the bags! Means more time to do the rides that I can go on :lmao:

Luv Suzy

It's not so much the ride - DH makes it spin far to fast for me- it's more our photo album - with pictures of the children on the teacups on our last 5 Disney trips.

Where are you staying Suzybear - I arrive a couple of days after you - and am also a Sussex person a couple of miles from Brighton!

I think we will! Space Mountain was closed for us last time (same time of year), and we missed Typhoon Lagoon as well - hoping to get there this time if they don't decide to close it early.

Tiggies - at least (if it's still the case) it's a surprise for DD, so presumably you won't have been building up expectations of the tea cups...

Sorry to hear that so many of you are going to miss out on the tea cups ride, I love it and so do our kids, it's the funniest thing watching them spinning as fast as you possibly can and they just crack up laughing! :)

Usually we go in January and Splash Mountain is always closed for rehab, we are trying April next year so fingers crossed we will get our first go on Splash in 6 years!!
