I wanted to send in some supplies for DD's 1st grade classroom in anticipation of the cooler weather and cold season. I was thinking of sending in some antibacterial hand cleaner, lysol wipes, tissues, etc.. But then I was thinking the school may already supply these things? Any teachers on here that could give me some insight?

I think the teacher will be very appreciative. Our district doesn't pay for any of those things. Parents send in what we can and I know some teachers end up paying for these things when they don't have any more in the class.

I'm not a teacher, but I would be VERY surprised if the school supplied any of those things. Did you have to purchase them with your other school supplies at the beginning of the year?

That's how my school works, but the teachers are always asking for more by the middle of winter. Especially Clorox wipes! The teacher wipes down each desk, keyboard, etc., every day, so they use a pack or two of wipes each week. I'm sure the teacher would really appreciate anything you send!

Most schools do not supply those things. BUT there are very strict laws about what they can and cannot have. This is why teachers ask for specific brands. They have to have what is called an MSDS for each product/chemical in the school building.
I love that you want to do this, I would suggest contacting the office and finding out what brands they can have. I would go with standard pump soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, lysol spray, and tissues.

Those are the kinds of things on our teacher's wishlists during parent orientation every year. Go for it!

I just stopped teaching in June, and in 12 years, I've never had those things provided. I've always had to buy them out of my own $$, even when we were in full swine flu epidemic...LOL.

Send them! The teacher would be so appreciative.

The only thing on that list we get is tissues...and I've felt softer tree bark. So yes, send them!
