Going to be shopping for Teacher Appeciation gift cards, trying to decide between local restaurants, Panera, Barnes and Noble, Michaels, Target, or something else

Thanks for thinking about the teachers!

Disney is my favorite gift card, of course.

But other than that, I like restaurant gift cards, provided the restaurant is close to home.

It's not very exciting, but grocery store gift cards are practical and I always use them because I go to the grocery store so frequently. I still have a few Starbucks gift cards from last year because I just don't go to Starbucks often. I will use them at some point and I certainly appreciative of anything, but I find that gift cards that are specific to certain locations are less valuable to me.

Any of the ones you listed would be great aside from Michaels but that's a personal thing (I teach HS and wouldn't use it).

Perhaps I'm in the minority but since you're asking: I'd want something for me - not my classroom. But, I'm not gonna be picky! Honestly, I'd be thrilled with any gift.

Restaurant, Target, Movies... those are probably my top 3.

Thanks so much for doing this. You don't know how appreciated they are!

A pre paid VISA, one lump sum.

I've heard bad things about the Visa cards: you need to pay a service fee to buy them, they expire quickly, and you need to remember your remaining balance to use them. Has that changed? I know my SIL gave them to my girls for their bday, and there was a receipt with it showing my SIL had paid $6 in service fees. I can only afford to do a $20 gift card with several teachers to buy for, I hink they'd probably rather have that $6 in gift card money

I'm the school librarian, so I don't often receive gifts, but if I did, I would love a GC to one of the movie theater chains that are around here. Target would be a close second.

My mom and 2 of my 3 best girlfriends are teachers. They all love Starbucks cards, but all of them have a Starbucks very close to the schools/on their way to school. Something close to the school is probably a good bet. I don't have kids, but I'd say cash is a good way to go.

Target, Disney (my classroom is all Disney so the kids and parents are well aware of this obsession), grocery cards, gas cards, craft store cards. Honestly getting anything from a family is wonderful. This last week we got hand soap and gift cards for teacher appreciation week. I was super happy to get fancy hand soap. I'm easy to please I guess lol.

I get them for free at my credit union, so it is the only thing I buy now.

I think Target is perfect. Every teacher, no matter the grade or subject, can find something fun for themselves there! I think local movie theater gift cards are nice, too.

I would stay away from Michael's unless you know the teacher well and know that he/she would like it there.

Since u r doing $20 I would say target or movies would be good. For restaurants I would stick to lunch places like Panera or chipotle where it would cover their lunch. I would avoid more expensive places where would have to shell out money to have someone join them.

I don't think Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts, unless you know for sure which the person likes (I know so many people who hate one and love the other). I think Target is the best. They can get something for themselves or if they need something for their classroom.

I give movie tickets that I get at a discount through work. They seem to be liked.
