Teachers, educators and parents who can't do the 2010 podcast cruise

Would you be interested in a Universal/RCCL Land / Sea Podcast Cruise?

  • Yes, definately

  • Possibly, if the price is right

  • Probably not, but I could be convinced

  • No way - I'm a "Disney Only" person

One other thing - we haven't set anything up for this yet - and we have people talking about booking with RCCL to hold space and putting in requests with Dreams. I appreciate that there are so many people excited about this, but we're not at the booking stage yet. This will have to be booked thru Dreams and we still have to go thru the process of securing group space with RCCL and Universal. Just wanted to make sure everyone understood that :)

As soon as that's put together (and it will be at least a few weeks), I'll let everyone know.

Thanks,
Pete

LOL Pete haven't you learned how over eager DISers are yet?

I trust in Pete's judgement in regards to the cruise ship. We'll wait for more details and then make our decision. In the meantime, I'll continue to participate in the banter here. LOL

Any chance of making it a 7 night cruise? I'd love to see some other locals instead of going to the bahamas :)

Has any one been to cococay? I know it can't be as nice as castaway cay, but is it a decent private stop?

Don, I've been to Coco Cay a few times. Castaway Cay is 10x better than Coco Cay, but Coco Cay is nice just for the day. It has plenty of water activities to do. Lunch is served on the island just like at Castaway Cay. However, I find Castaway Cay to be much bigger and much nicer. There are no seperate beaches for families, teens, and adults on Coco Cay and the shops are not nearly as nice. I much prefer Castaway Cay!!

Don, I'd be very interested in a 7 night cruise. I've been to Nassau 2x now, and I'd love to see something else too. I'm particularly interested in St Thomas and St Maartin. Maybe the Parfitts and Pucketts can make their own land/sea package...

We've been to Coco Cay. The island is very nice. The big difference in my mind is that you have to tender to the island. So, of course, you can't walk on and off the ship. I really liked how Castaway Cay had the tram set up. That was really convenient.

Doesn't sound too bad. I assume there is nothing out there as nice as castaway key, but a fun day hanging at the beach is enough for us!

That is kind of how we feel. I would love to cruise with all my DIS buddies, but vacation time is getting full quick and I would love to visit some new islands. I'm already planning a cruise in August 2011 to celebrate my Moms 60th bday. She wants to go to Italy.

I wish I could have made the Disney Podcast Cruise. : ( Maybe in the future there will be one in the summer. August was priced about the same as May, but of course there are the hurricanes! We don't get out of school until the very end of June in NY.

We would love a 7 day as well!! Either way we would consider this trip

My wife and I were so disappointed to find otu we couldn't go on the next podcast cruise because I am a teacher. This just made my day! We will be there. We usually get out of school around the second week of June. This year it is the 11th!! In-services start the 3rd week in August. I will make any time between those times available for this cruise. We will be there!

Pete I just don't want you and the boys to book all of the suites. I'm spoiled and must have my suite! Save me one!!

Since Pete mentioned that the cruise would be on Monarch of the Seas, I decided to look it up and look at some pricing info to get a basic idea. One thing I find interesting is the Monarch has no balcony/verandah rooms until you get to the suite category. :confused3 Looking for July '10, the rates are very reasonable. $399 inside, $449 outside, $849 suites/pp. Obviously that is going to vary by HUGE amounts when you talk about land/sea and group rates and all that good stuff. It leaves me with a good feeling that this will be a very affordable cruise/package! Woohoo! :cool1:

You went, you just don't know it yet!!! :rolleyes1 ;)

While I voted "Probably not", I'll need to give this stronger consideration. Deb flipped when I told her Harry Potter Land. :)

So what is everyones thoughts on itinerary? Pkg 1 = Friday to Friday - Parks 1st, Ship 2nd - or - Pkg 2 = Monday to Monday - Ship 1st, Parks 2nd?

I think I'd prefer parks 2nd but prefer the Friday/Friday of Pkg 1.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds. :goodvibes

I like the Fri-Fri option. That way it gives me a little time to recover from vacation before I have to surrender to reality. As for which is first....to me it doesn't matter...except the weekend would be busier. But with front of the line access, that isn't so large of a concern.

It doesn't matter to me which way, to be honest. I'll be on vacation from work until September anyway! There's my attempt at a teacher taunt! Neeners!

It really doesn't matter to me. I would just be psyched to go. :)

I prefer fri-fri option. Plus I like the idea of parks first. Win win for me

Pete,

I love it that you are so committed to the fans (especially those of us in education)! June/July - would be a much better time for our family. After hearing all of the fun yall had on the last cruise, must admit we were really wishing we were there!

I hope we can work something out to go this time.

Well looking at the price of the cruise without any group rate at all. We are definitely on board.

I know the wife is now very impatient for the day we can book. She sure loves the long term planning.
